My name is Abhishek.Today I am going to tell you a story that I have never shared with anyone.The series of incidents that I will be telling in this story happened a long time ago but today when I think about it I could feel the same spine-chilling effect that I used to that have during my adolescence.
My father was an engineer and he had a transferable job and he used to get the transfer from one village to another. I used to live in Kolkata with my grandparents and mom and some time travel to father place during summer season.It was one of those summers when there was a plan to visit my father place where he was currently transferred but that year my father did not want us to come to that village because he was continuously saying that the village was not good and safe.My mother, on the other hand, was adamant and was not agreeing to my father.She was desperate to meet my father during that time and finally my father had no option other than bowing down to my mother wish.Since this was not my father wish, my father did not want to come to Kolkata to pick us up. My grandfather decided to take us to this village.
It was just after two days of my school summer vacation, we decided to travel to my father place.When we arrive at the station we found that my father had sent a driver to pick us up.My grandfather was furious on seeing this because my father did not come to the station to pick us up.Anyhow, we kept our luggage on the back of the car and boarded on the car.Grandfather sat beside the driver and me and my mom sat on the back.It was an hour journey from the station to my dad village.Initially, my grandfather started chatting with the driver and after few minutes I saw him sleeping in the front seat.I was sitting beside my mom and my mom was busy looking outside through car window.After few minutes, I observed that the driver was frequently looking at us but whenever my eyes were meeting him, he quickly moving his glance away.Within a few minutes, I could make out what he was looking. He was not looking at my mom, mostly her face and her boobs covered in her blouse.His eyes were mostly on her cleavage which was slightly visible due to her saree pallu not in right place to cover it.My mom did not notice that as she was busy looking outside.
After we reach my father place, I saw my father came out from the house.The place where my dad was staying was not actually a house.It was a bungalow surrounded by a garden.There were nearby bungalows in that area but those are much far away from us.There were hardly any plants in that garden due to excessive heat of that place.The driver took all our luggage from the car and kept it on the door of the bungalow.My dad took all the pieces of luggage inside.
As soon as we enter the house, a woman came with the glasses of lemon water.My father introduced her as Kamala.Kamala looked at mom and said smilingly-“Sahab…your wife is more beautiful than I imagined…”.
My mom smiled hearing this.My dad ignored that and asked us-“How was the journey?”
My grandfather-“you don’t talk about that…why did not you come to the station to pick us up..”
My dad ignored that and said-“Dad..you take some rest..tomorrow you need to travel back.I have some work to do…I will come back …I already had my lunch”
My dad left. We had our lunch and took some rest.When dad came in evening, he seems to be more silent than usual.My grandfather understood a change in him and was repeatedly asking him about this but he was silently ignoring him.
Next day, my grandfather left.That night, my mother asked my dad after he was back from work-“What happened to you?..you seem to be so calm…Is there any problem?”
My dad responded-“I did not want you to come here with avi..”
My mom-” why?”
My dad-“how many time will i tell you?…This place is not good..and also not safe.”
My mom-“what is wrong here…”
My dad-“Gunda raaj…there is no law and order here…I am trying to get the transfer from this place…”
My mom-“you know why I came here..the coming anniversary will be our tenth anniversary.I want to be with you”
My dad-“you have to promise me one thing…after our anniversary you will go away ..”
My mom-“I am not going to go away on the next day itself..”
My dad-“Ok…one week..”
My mom -“I will think about it..”
My dad looks irritated hearing the response from my mom.
That night I slept with mom and dad.In the night itself, my mom told me that I need to sleep alone for few days.
Next day, when dad left, Kamala said to my mom-“Bhabhi…can I say something to you?”
My mom asked-“What?”
Kamala-“you should not have come to this village?”
My mom asked-“Why are you saying that?”
Kamala said-“Saheb had a fight with a most corrupt and evil person of this place.”
My mom-“What !!!….He had a fight?”
Kamala-“Not an actual fight but he did something that no one would dare to do…”
My mom-“What did he do?”
Kamala-“He put Raju Yadav in jail…”
My mom-“Who is Raju Yadav?”
Kamala-“He is the younger brother of Raghu Yadav.Raghu Yadav is the MLA of this place.He controls everything here.No one ever dared to take a fight against him but saheb did.”
My mom-“What did he do?”
Kamala-“He killed one of our village girl who worked as a labor under Saheb and Saheb along with other witnessed Raju Yadav forcefully carrying her in his jeep with men.None of them come forward except Saheb. He complained against him to police. A lot of men came and threatened him even Raghu Yadav but he did not turn back and he gave justice to her.”
My mom eyes went big hearing this-“What are you saying?”
My mom said-“This is why he asked me not to come here…”
Kamala-“Did he ask you not to come here?”
My mom-“yes..”
Kamala-“Then why did you came?…I was surprised seeing you here…I was thinking Saheb was an idiot to call you here..”
My mom-“No…it was not saheb…It was me who decided to come here…”
Kamala-“You should have listened to Saheb…This place is not good…You should go away from this place..”
My mom-“Where is Raju Yadav?”
Kamala-“He is in jail…still the trial is going on him…”
My mom mocked-“How did you say..saheb has given justice to him…”
Kamala-“I don’t think..he can get away..”
My mom smiled-“You people are so optimistic..”
Kamala-“You did not seem to be much afraid to hear this..”
My mom smiled.
Even if my mom did not show to Kamala that hearing this had any effect on this but after she left and Dad was taking the time to come home, she looked tense.
Later that night after dinner when we are getting ready for sleep, my mom said to my dad-“I came to know everything from Kamala.”
My dad-“I did what was right.”
My mom-“and what about us..have you ever thought about us…why did you go against such dangerous people?”
My dad-“what would I do?..someone is killing a woman in broad daylight and you want me to see and tolerate this.I told you not to come here..”
My mom-“I am not afraid of myself..I am afraid of you…what will happen to us if something happens to you…”
My dad -” nothing will happen to me.I want you to stay here for few more days and then leave…”
My mom-“I can’t leave you like this…”
My dad shouted back-“kakoli !!!…don’t argue ….”
I could see tears in my mother’s eyes. My father never shouted like this to my mom before.My mother said silently-“If I am going from here..you need to go with me…”.
My dad did not respond and went to sleep.The whole night I saw my mom struggling on the bed.I could make out she was not able to sleep.Even if I felt my father was not sleeping.
Anyhow when I wake up, I saw my father getting ready for office.When he was about to leave, I saw my mom came outside of the kitchen and called dad.Dad turned back-“What happened?”
My mom silently said-“Are you still angry with me?”
My dad said-“I will not be angry if you listen to what I am saying…”
My mom silently said-“I don’t want to waste our moment together tomorrow..”
My dad sigh-“I am just waiting for that day to pass as quickly as possible…”
My mom tear in eyes-“don’t say like that..”
My dad-“you don’t understand what is going on with me.I fear your safety darling…”
My mom smiled-“I will be safe..don’t worry about me…will you be taking leave on that day?”
My dad-“I have some work tomorrow but I will come back soon…I promise…”
My dad left.That evening when I was playing in the garden, I saw a black SUV car stopping near our bungalow. The driver of the car came out and went on the second door behind the driver’s seat door and opened it. A strong muscular middle age man came out from that door and from the other door two more men came out.They entered our garden and saw me gazing at them.
The person for whom the driver opened the door looked at me and said-“Who is this boy?”
The driver-“I think it is his son..”
The first person-“nice kid…boy…go to the house and tell your mommy…Raghu Yadav has come…”
I quickly went inside the bungalow and told to my mom about Raghu Yadav. I could feel a sense of fear on my mother eye.She slowly went near the door to peek outside and saw Raghu Yadav standing there.Raghu Yadav eyes roam all around her figure and there was an amazement in his eyes.Finally, he said smiling in a dirty way-“Good Evening Bhabhiji…”
My mom-“My husband is not here …”
Raghu Yadav laughed-“So what bhabhiji..I came here to see you…”
The people who were behind Raghu Yadav started laughing with him.Hearing the laughter of those men, Kamala came outside of the kitchen and quickly put her head down and said-“Namaste Raghu saheb…”
Raghu Yadav-“Oh Kamala…how are you?…Why don’t you inform me that your saheb brought his beautiful wife here…”
Kamala started mumbling.Raghu Yadav looked directly at my mom and said-“woman like her should be kept in a big palace…see how much she is sweating here…”
It was inevitable that the heat will make anyone sweat but Raghu Yadav was glancing at her blouse which was little drenched with sweat , her cleavage and also her navel which has sweat droplet.
Raghu Yadav-“What is her name …kamala..”

My mom shout-“Don’t you feel ashamed speaking like this in front of a kid?”
Raghu Yadav-“oh..did I make your kid embarrassed?”.He looked directly at my eyes-“Boy.I just wanted to say your mother is very beautiful…I have never seen such a beautiful woman like her.”
My mom shouts back-“Get out of here..you scumbag…”
Raghu yadav-“You are a wild cat ..bhabhi…”
My mom came near Raghu Yadav and pushed him-“Get out…”
Men behind him tried to come forward but Raghu Yadav said-“Are you guys crazy..she is just a woman”
Kamala-“I am sorry Raghu saheb…she is new here..”
Raghu Yadav showed his hand to indicate her to stop-“Let us go…”
Raghu Yadav and his men left and as soon as they left, Kamala said-“Bhabhi…You should not have done this…”
My mom fell down and started crying-“Did you see how they have behaved with me in front of my kid?”
Kamala sat beside mom and said-“These people are nothing more than an animal…”
My mom said-“your Saheb was right…I should not have come to this place…I will talk to him tonight..We will leave after tomorrow….I just wanted to stay with him during our 10th anniversary…”
I came near mom and said-“What this people want..mom…That man is very bad…He was looking at you in a very bad away”
My mom pulled me closer to her and said-“Don’t worry about them, baby…They have gone now..and don’t talk about this to dad..”

When father came, my mother said to him that we will leave after tomorrow and my father was happy to hear that.Next day, my mother reminded dad of the anniversary and my dad told my mom that he will try come home earlier.When dad left, my mom was busy on arranging everything in the home.She was also cooking with our maid Kamala and was talking about the food that my father likes.In the middle of the conversation, Kamala interrupted and said-“I wanted to say something to you bhabhi..”
My mom said-“Yes Kamala..Tell me..”
Kamala-“Yesterday..after doing all the work of your house when I was returning to home, Raghu Yadav men came and asked me and my husband to come with them to Raghu Yadav house…”

Kamala-“He asked everything about you…I am feeling he is getting obsessed with you…I did not tell him that you are planning to leave tomorrow but you should not change your decision…dont stay not a single day after today.”
My mom sighed-“I am worried about your saheb…”
Kamala-“I think you should convince Saheb to get away from this place…”
My mom-“He told me he is trying to take the transfer from the place.”
Kamala-“Everything is going to be the good bhabhi…dont worry…”
My mom sighed. That evening I could guess from the smell that mom had cooked good food tonight.She also wears a beautiful red color saree with matching red color blouse, applied good makeup on her face with red lipstick applied over her lips. Kamala could stop herself from praising mom how beautiful she was looking but my dad did not return on the time that he had promised to mom. I found my mom little tensed.It was after one hour, Kamala left our home consoling mom that dad may have got stuck in some important work and asked her not to get worried but my dad did not return even one hour after Kamala left and I saw my mom sitting near the front window with a worried face. My dad was late today more than usual days.After another hour more, I came to my mom and could not stop myself from asking-“Mom..why dad is late today.”
I saw tears in my mom’s eyes.She tried to hide the tears and said-“I don’t know darling…Are you hungry now?”
