The War's Ends
My name was Jack Harrison I was a Major in the US Air
Force. I flew the B4 stealth orbital bomber with the 332nd
bomber wing out of Fairchild air force base. The year is
now 2053; back in 2043 I and my Navigation DSO had walked
away from a 2 billion dollar wreck just outside the flooded
remains of NY. I remember she took a lucky hit from a
Orbital missile, it was more a near miss, a 2 megaton
blast, we should be dead.
The B4 bucked as the warhead exploded, power systems went
from green to red but back ups soon cut in. I knew this
bird was finished as I fought the controls as she headed
towards the US. I over flew my base, what was left of it.
The last 100 miles was very hairy. I had dumped speed, as a
17550 mile and hour impact was a very bad way to end your
day. I saw ahead the flooded ruins of old NY where on a
lovely September day this all started, coming in low across
the New Jersey urban wasteland, the bird crash landed. I
was alive.
We had just won the longest war in American history, the
war on terror, but at the cost worldwide of over a billion
dead. The US was now down from 400 million to about 60
million yet we came out okay compared with our enemy. They
were wiped out, The EASTERN ALLIANCE, run by an Islamic
Russia, which was taken over back in 2016. There had been a
cold war with them and us. But they also used terror as a
weapon. They were formed after Gulf War 3 when the US was
attacked by Saddam's son after we kicked out daddy in Gulf
War 2, he got back in 2013 and was worse that dad ever was.
Then he did something real dumb he nuked Israel, then they
went ape and no more Middle East.
That's when Islam took over Russia and tried to take over
China, where they just went and shot every one they thought
was dangerous. The last stage of the war on terror happen
one October Monday when a van with a 50 KT bomb went off
taking out the President who was in the White House. He
died in a less than a second in a heat hotter than the sun.
Then all hell broke out.
The ALLIANCE launched an all out attack, every missiles and
bomber they had hit our friends and us. But the boys at
area 51 had been busy. The Orbital defence systems shot
down most of the incoming. But Omaha Pearl and Fairchild
was hit. But we hit back and with the B4s and the new 10
MIRVS warheads Avenger missiles. We hit back hard and the
enemy was blasted in to the next world.
The thing that hit us hard was the bio plague that had also
been released, so many died. My wife, Lt Mary Harrison, and
our baby son died in the blast at the base. She was Air
Force base security; my son John was 3 months old. The
thing was, that hard as it was that they died, Thankfully
they died in a hurry.
So many died in terrible pain of the plague I caught it and
came though but many did not. Women seem to survive 3 to 1
in their favour. A new President came to power. She was a
senator who was out of Washington on that day and was made
our new President. The second woman in such a position,
Janet Williams, 47 years old, husband Peter who ran a law
firm age 52. Two boys, Peter and John, 11 and 4 years old.
She turned out a lot stronger than anybody thought.
I wandered around the country, there was not much need for
bomber pilots at the moment. I armed myself with a M20
rifle, as there was some bad scum out there who try to take
what they wanted, even when it is not theirs.
I drove until the power cell on the Air Force truck ran
out, then walked and hitched. I was still in my flight suit
and got some dirty looks, but an M20 makes an M16 look like
a Civil War Springfield. So I was only messed with a couple
of times but the people who tried it ended up very dead.
But I WAS SICK OF KILLING! Yet I had to know if my wife and
child might have survived the attack. After 3 months of
across country travelling, I got back to my base where
there was nothing but rubble and still burning wrecks. I
soon realised that they were dead. I thought of shooting
myself.
God, war, death, why?
Then I thought I would never kill again but help humanity
rebuild a better world. I dumped the rifle after making
sure it would kill no more and set about helping others.
My fight suit became filthy rags as I helped rebuild my
country. Then I came across a woman from the new United
States Government, women were now outnumbering men 3 to 1,
the Army Navy and Air force was in most cases manned by
women. They were being turned into the Unified Defence
force.
The woman was called Col Paula Peters of the soon to be
Defence Force, but she was still in Air Force blues. She
told me that I was technically AWOL but in the
circumstances it was understandable and she had read
reports of my mission and the help I had given afterwards.
As I was still an Officer in the Air Force I was to report
to a new demob centre. I was driven to the large
underground centre, which was a SAC missile control centre,
when SAC had been reformed 10 years back. There were women
guards everywhere. There was not just Air Force, Navy, Army
and Marines there all in rags of uniforms.
I was sick of being a high tech killer. I just wanted to be
a man of peace, a helper of people. I was called in to the
Centre CO's office and was asked to sit down. The small
blond woman was a member of the new government.
Reconstruction committee Ms Susan Morris. She talked to me
at length about the tests and talks I had had with the
different women I had talked to there.
"It seems you have gone from being a man of war to a man
who hates war and yourself."
"Don't worry many who have fought have had enough of
death."
"But some out there have not."
"They want it to go on because that all they know."
"We have been running computer programs and looking at all
the facts. You must realise this, you men have fought a
just war. But it was still war. All though history men have
killed and fought wars, created death camps, raped, blasted
cities and have killed Billions. Therefore men must be
taken out of the command loop."
I had to admit she was right, but I thought, I wonder want
this is leading to.
She carried on. "I am looking for men like yourself who
have seen war and hates it. Will be willing to help us?"
"Sure how can I help you madam."
"Major, you may have noticed that all the women here have
short haircuts and wear trousers."
"Yes I have noticed that madam."
"Major call me Susan, I am hoping we will be good friends
over the months and years to come as we work to build a
better world."
It was then she laid it on me
Wow, what a weird idea but it must better than all the
death and killing over the years. The men, now outnumbered,
must be put in a secondary role in society, this is not
only going to happen only here but all over the world. Once
man lose the right to vote or go into government, all male
members of the armed forces will be honourably discharged.
Men will take on the old women's role in life as homemaker.
No male will be allowed to be in any position of power and
they must become totally under control of women. The facts
say and the computer AI systems also say, skirts and
dresses, the old woman's type of clothes, become the male
clothes.
I asked if that was not just a wacky idea.
She said, "We thought so at first but now after all the
program runs and check tests, it seems the best way
forward."
I asked how could you get men to accept this.
She told me with men like me. Once their doubts had been
answered, they would go along with the program. Others
would find being outnumbered 3 to 1, with a good number of
men like you on board, that they will soon be put in
centres like this for retraining. Think about what I have
said and see if I am not right."
I was given a clean coverall and went to bunk with 20 other
Air force guys. I could not sleep at first but I was out
for the count after an hour. In the morning I went to her
office I thought about my wife and baby son and looked at
the data she gave me. I was going to give up my normal
manhood, my right to vote and I would never be allowed to
fly a plane, as such job was no longer for males, but maybe
I could be an air hostess. I could take the old jobs of
working as a secretary, be a waitress or just be married to
a wonderful woman and raise kids like my lovely lost little
boy.
I then started to cry yes. I would never again fly about
the Earth like a god with power of a god mine to command.
But I had thought the codes to the plane interface, when
millions had died, no more would I kill.
The tears flowed for my lovely wife and my beautiful baby
boy. Yes if being feminine and wearing skirts dresses, make
up, high heels could stop this then by God I would.
I went and told her of my thoughts, she cried and said. "I
know what is being asked of you and what you will give up,
but you will never have to fight and kill again. What you
did was right for the time, but no more."
Then she hugged me. And kissed me.
I said, "What's to stop women abusing this new power over
males."
Susan answered, "News law will be enacted for the
protection of men, with prison terms and in case of women
acting like men and killing, the death penalty."
I left her office and soon went though the discharge
process. Then I was given my new uniform of knee length
black skirt and white blouse. Under the skirt and blouse I
wore a slip, lace trimmed panties, stockings and black 2
inch heel court shoes. I had been though a shower which
removed all body hair, based on rad cem decom units, which
the centre had lots of.
Women instructors showed us how to put on make up. My hair,
when I was on the outside, had grown long. For the first
time in my life but not the last I had my hair done like
women used to. I found it different to walk in shoes with
heels not like my flight boots at all, the skirt tight
fitting shorted my walk. The lessons in walking and sitting
carried on over a 3 to 6 month period. I was taught office
skills, shorthand and typing.
Some guys wouldn't give up. Rough women troops had to be
called in and guys like myself ended up fighting alongside
the girls to bring the malcontents under control. Men like
myself helped out at first. But the women soon said, thank
but you to keep up with your training. So they took care of
it and back to training we went.
But the girls helped us look smart and presentable in our
new roles. I was small 5. 8 11 stone. The Air Force today
likes small pilots to fit in cramped cockpits. Why over 50%
of the flight crews were female before October when it went
off. My new buddy was called Bill, great guy in his blue
below the knee dress was very smart, his makeup good.
But there were guys who just would not settle for the new
roles. The women slowly got things under control. The males
who were out of control were put back in to the retraining
unit with subliminal messages being given to them, in the
training room we had all been though this to overcome our
aggressive male traits. It also programed us for our new
lives. When the 6 months was up I was sent to a small town
to work as a secretary for the Office of Reconstruction.
My first day I awoke in my small flat, a one bedroom but
nice and very fem, or should I now say masculine. As of
this moment Feminine is Masculine, a real turn around. I
was wearing a lovely light soft night dress and I went to
my wardrobe and picked out a smart pink skirt suit with a
short skirt high heels and matching bag my hair blond long
and curly full now male make up.
I walked to the bus stop, not many cars at the moment on
the road. Once cars were back on sale men would be allowed
to own cars. Even now men were discouraged to drive, as a
means to stop any trouble. Males must be accompanied to
bars or restaurants by women. Men are not allowed to own
business or homes of over two beds and 15% of your wage
must be spent on clothes, makeup, etcetera by law. Men are
also paid 20% less than women so that men are low on cash.
Boy it gets to you, but then I think of how we nearly
killed the world, I think we deserve it. I walk in to my
work place now, just over 7 months ago I was a Major flying
the most advanced bomber ever made, now I walk to the job
not in my flight suit but a male skirt suit.
Yet I am happy that no more blood will be on my hands. All
over the world women have taken the power and war now seems
to be become a thing of the past. There are still armed
forces, but so much smaller than before since nukes have
been banned. The B4 is now in Museums only. The women are
rebuilding at one hell of a rate. Maybe being second in the
game was the right thing everywhere, subliming messages
keep on at men and tell us to be soft be submissive.
At most men now may throw a hisses fit, but I could not
shoot some one for love or money. I hope it is never put to
the test. My dears I am most happy about that. I walk pass
the woman police officer, her firm body trim in her smart,
now feminine trousers and shirt, gun at her side, I now
hate all guns.
She smiled at me, "Morning Sir" as she checked my ID she
checked me out. I love it as she looked over my legs. I
went to my desk out side Ms. Powell Office. I enjoyed my
busy day but I got used to taking orders from my woman
boss. I just loved making coffee for her and sitting there
in her office taking notes letting my pink skirt ride up a
little.
Well that was many years ago. I still work, but part time.
My wife Ms June Patterson likes me home to look after our
little boy. I called him John, he will grow up knowing
nothing but skirts and dresses. He will never ride like his
daddy did the most powerful plane ever built in to space.
But he won't die in a flash of flame.
He is 4 now and looks so sweet in his blue for a boy lace
trimmed dress playing with dolls. I look over to my wedding
photos no fancy uniform or any guard of honour. I am in the
picture stood next to my wife in her smart suit in the most
lovely white lace wedding dress. The veil covering my head.
I felt so lovely like a lovely not princess but skirted
prince. My old wedding photo of myself in uniform gone to
flame in the blast like the old world along with my lovely
wife and child.
This is a New World in some way I miss the old but not much
anymore it a safe world. I am loved and cared for and I
will never ever have to kill again for my country. But best
of all when I take my little Johnny to the park I know I am
the luckiest man in the world.
