It was about 9 A.M. Monday morning and Jessie was plowing the field to
prepare it for planting soybeans when he saw Mandy's car pull into his
driveway. He stopped his tractor and looked the direction of his house
perplexed. He turned the tractor off and walked to the outside of where
his furrows were going to be and got on his 4 wheeler and rode the
approximately 95 acres on it to his house.
He walked in and saw Mandy at the stove and that stopped him dead in his
tracks.
Mandy smiled at him and said, "I thought to myself and said I bet he
doesn't have lunch planned."
Jessie said, "I thought I would go to town when I got hungry."
Mandy said, "No need, I will have lunch cooked up in plenty of time and
I bet it will be something you will approve of."
Jessie walked out back to the 4 wheeler because he saw it was no use
arguing.
Before he started up the 4wheeler he just looked towards the house and
shook his head in disbelief of what was happening. He started it up
and headed towards the tractor to the field.
He plowed until around 12:30 and he saw Mandy close to where the farrows
are so he turned off the tractor.
Mandy said, "Lunch is ready if you want to come back."
Jessie said, "Sounds fair enough. You can ride back with me if you
want."
She said, "Sounds fun."
They walked hand in hand to the 4wheeler and she sat behind Jessie and
he started it up.
They rode up to the house and he shut if off and they walked in and when
he walked into the dining room he smelled what he couldn't believe it
cornbread turnup greens and fried chicken.
She said, "I have been looking at the recipes and I hope you like and
there is green beans and corn also."
He laughed and said, "I could have swore you have lived in the south all
of your life."
They sat down and Jessie served up himself and Mandy.
Mandy tried the cornbread and said, "Wow it does taste good."
They sat and ate and talked and laughed when Jessie said, "Ok, if you
are trying to get ahold of me and keep me you are doing good to make it
happen."
She laughed and said, "You think us gals are dumb? We know what it
takes."
After they finished eating Mandy said, "I will clean up and looks like
there will be plenty of left overs for this evening."
He got on the 4wheeler and headed up to the tractor and got to the
outside of the farrows. He walked up to the tractor and got in the
seat.
He gets in the seat and starts plowing the field. He can't believe how
life is turning out. This woman on Friday night meets him at his house
at 8:30 and they had their first date yesterday and now what is going on
she came and cooked him a delicious lunch.
He plowed the rest of the day and finally stopped around 5:30 and he had
half of the field plowed and will be able to finish tomorrow. He rode
to the house on the 4 wheeler.
He went in and there was Mandy who walked over and gave him a big hug.
She said, "What timing you made it back just as I finished warming up
everything."
Jessie laughed and said, "It is starting to get dark out there and I can
finish plowing tomorrow and get the soybeans planted by Wednesday. I am
ahead of the game tonight."
They sat down to enjoy the food they had earlier an Jessie couldn't
believe it.
He said, "Mandy baby. I have to thank you for the 2 fabulous meals and
these 2 days have been spectacular."
She said, "I am glad you have enjoyed the last 2 days because I have
loved them and you are such a special man."
After she finished cleaning up everything they went out to the porch
again and sat down on the swing again. Than she snuggled close to
Jessie and she surprised him yet again.
She said, "This is perfect the last 2 days I mean."
He said, "To be honest this all has been a total surprise to me but I
have loved every moment of it."
She lightly played with his ponytail as they were swinging back and
forth. He leaned his head towards her loving every moment.
He said, "I never thought I would have this happen with me and didn't
care if it did."
She said, "Well, now it is happening and I am the type of girl who holds
onto his man."
Jessie said, "Really?"
She said, "Really, so you better get used to it you are stuck with me."
He said, "Well, I have been stuck plenty of times I don't remember it
being so pleasant."
She said, "Well, I am glad you are finding it rather pleasant. So it
seems your mom thinks you should hold onto me."
He laughed and said, "My mom thinks I should hold onto you and my dad
and uncle believes you already have me."
She laughed and said, "My plan is coming together come to South Carolina
and ensnare me a country boy ."
They laughed and he said, "Looks like your plan has worked to perfection
now uncle Jack and aunt Ruth have said you have done a lot of work at
that drunk's house."
She said, "It is coming together but there is so much to that house to
begin with. I mean it is such a beautiful house for a drunk to own.
You know why don't you come over tomorrow or Wednesday because you did
say you were further ahead on your plowing didn't you."
He said, "I did and I tell you what I will come by Wednesday and take a
look at your house."
She said, "Well, I wish I could stay but I have to go because well I
have to go take care of some clients and my morning is busy that I
know."
They got up and walked towards her car and they kissed passionately for
3 minutes and she opened the car door.
She said, "Now, I will hold you up to it I want to see you over at my
house Wednesday."
As she was getting in her car and Jessie closed the door he said." I
will be there that I promise you."
She laughed and said, "Good because my plan doesn't work unless you come
to my house."
They kissed one more time and she closed her window and pulled out of
the driveway.
He stood and watched until she disappeared into the night and went
inside his house.
He went into his bedroom and stripped into his boxers and shook his head
at the thought of Mandy. How she came into his life and heck cooked
lunch and made sure there was plenty for supper. The funny thing is
even though they had only met a few days ago he was already missing her.
Trying to figure this all out with her, his uncle and aunt, and his mom
and dad. Than after he slid under the covers and shutoff the lamp he
slowly fell asleep.
