The Costume Contest
Belladonna
"Where do you want to go for you birthday lunch?" David Paris inquired
with his secretary.
Veronika paused as she thought over her boss's question. Her mind
parsed through the various establishments she had been treated to lunch
at since she started working for the man. She shook her head as she
answered, "I'm not sure."
David was struck by Veronika's indecisiveness. She normally had the
answer right at the tip of her tongue.
Her slight smile told him that she had an answer, but was holding it
back. He cocked his head while he inquired, "What are you thinking?"
"This is really about giving me a treat for my birthday right?" Veronica
inquired.
"Uh, huh," David answered with a nod to Veronika's growing grin.
"I was thinking that it would be a lot more fun for me if Stella came
out to play."
Veronika's laughter while she said the words made David blush. He
rolled his eyes as he replied, "You're never going to let me live that
one down, are you."
"How could I? You were so cute!"
'Yah, making a fool out of myself,' David thought with a shake of his
head.
Veronika kept laughing before she teased, "Why not let her back out,
unless your not man enough!"
"Mel Brooks wrote that it takes a real man to wear tights"
"Was that before or after they started prancing about?"
"Before," David muttered with his eyes looking at the ceiling.
Veronika laughed at his blushing cheeks, knowing that she had touched
the nerve with him again that she had found so exposed since the day he
came into work cross-dressed with his son. David had not said much
about his son since that day.
The boy was grounded by both him and his mother for his lying. The fact
that David's ex-wife could not resist berating him for falling for the
boy's lies about being transgendered was still a sore subject for David.
David had never intended to reveal his own cross-dressing to anyone.
Since the day after he showed up in a pencil skirt for one day at work,
he was certain that Veronika sensed it. His son seemed to as well.
Veronika had largely honored her pledge to only tease David for his
"sympathetic cross-dressing" every other day since it happened. While
David hated to be reminded of it, he could not deny that he never felt
more terrified, excited and free than when he had strolled into work in
heeled wedges.
Veronika did her best to conceal that she thought that David was far too
comfortable in his feminine guise for it to have been the one-time thing
that he asserted it to be. His ease with walking in his wedges did not
go unnoticed. There had been no hiccups the entire day. He did not
stumble in his shoes. He walked with a tight hem-restricted gait
without seeming to struggle against it. His movements had seemed
subconsciously more feminine throughout the day. She thought that he
appeared to be conditioned to act more like a girl simply due to his
change of clothes.
David's reactions to her teasing had only further confirmed her
suspicions. Her regular references to him as Stella frequently made his
cheeks burn. She could not help but laugh every time since he never
seemed to be able to move beyond his embarrassment.
David shook his head at his laughing assistant. He knew that he should
have expected the request given her relentless joking about the subject
since the day he entered the office en femme.
"How about you ask for a birthday wish that can come true?" David
countered.
"Why couldn't you dress like a girl?" Veronika retorted.
David shook his head before he replied, "You know I only did that for
Cory."
Veronika gave him a nod, trying to keep a smirk off her face as she knew
in her heart that his explanation was a lie. She tilted her head while
she responded, "Well, maybe you should do it for me too."
"I was doing it to try to make him feel better..."
"If you did it for me, I would feel better. I'd feel a lot better,"
Veronika countered.
"It's not quite the same," David rejoined with crossed arms.
"I know, but...it'd be a lot of fun."
"For who?"
"Me," Veronika responded with a laugh.
"That's what I thought," David replied while he began to turn away from
her.
Veronika thought about letting him go back into his office and making a
reservation. Her eyes drifted for a minute before she spoke up, "I even
have the perfect place for us to go."
David paused as he asked, "So, you were planning to take me out in a
dress?"
"Not just anywhere," Veronika countered.
"Then, where?" David asked, trying to form a fantasy he could bring home
with him, even though he had no intent of carrying through on it.
"One of the bars by my place always holds a Halloween costume contest."
"So, you want me to go to a bar as a girl to what...hang around a bunch
of drunk guys in a skirt? Yah, hard pass on that," David replied, not
wanting to get into a fight or be groped.
"No. I want you to go as a boy dressed as a girl."
"So, everyone would know."
"Actually, it would be kind of fun to see if you pass yourself off as a
girl. If you did, you might even win the contest."
"I don't think so."
"Come on; let me enter you as a girl. It would be so much fun."
David laughed as he rolled his eyes and gave her a dismissive wave of
his hands. He tried to walk away before she caught sight of a hint of
his burgeoning erection.
"Where are you going?" Veronika asked.
"You're crazier than usual."
"I'm crazy?" Veronika inquired with mock irritation.
"All women are," he countered.
'You're one to talk,' Veronika thought before she said, "Stella, I'll do
it with you."
"Oh, that makes it so much better," Jim replied with evident sarcasm.
"Come on. We can enter into the girl group competition. It's a little
easier to win than just the best girl costume."
"I've seen girls win as groups. There's nothing you can do with me that
would get us picked over them."
"It's the fun that counts," Veronika countered.
"It's all fun until some homophobe punches me for pretending to be a
girl."
"That's the thing. Even if they figure it out, you just tell them it's
Halloween. It's a costume contest. Everyone is someone else for the
night. You just play it off."
David started to contemplate the idea. He figured that it was not as
dangerous as he initially thought. He figured that he even had the
military credentials to smooth over some things if he was challenged.
He could just say he was playing around with Veronika and was really all
man.
Veronika could sense that David was coming around to the idea. She
smirked as she said, "And if I'm right, I want a second birthday wish."
"What's that?"
"I want Stella to come to work on Monday if no one notices that you're
not really a girl."
David' hand reached into his pants pocket to try to conceal his
erection. His actions only made it clear to Stella the effect that her
words were having on him.
"I don't know about that."
"You've already did it once. Did it kill you?" Veronika inquired.
"Well, no, but..."
"It's just like a redo."
'If I could do it over, I wouldn't,' David admitted to himself with a
shake of his head. Still the prospect of spending a weekend night out
en femme was intriguing. He had always wanted to do it, but he never
found the courage to indulge the fantasy.
"I guess it could be fun."
"It will be," Veronika assured him.
"Diana does have Cory for the weekend..."
"Perfect!"
"Are you really sure that you wouldn't rather have a nice lunch?"
"I'd take Stella over shrimp any day," Veronika answered with a smile.
"Anything to get me into a dress, huh," David replied with a laugh.
'Oh, yah, this is all my doing,' Veronika thought before she answered,
"How do you know it'll be a dress?"
David furrowed his brow as he said, "What else would it be?"
David feared her dressing him up a cat suit that he was sure could not
possible conceal his true gender. Veronika read his worries on his face
before she added, "It could be a skirt."
"Same difference," David said.
"No. It's not," Veronika countered before continuing, "A girl knows the
value of variety."
"So, what are we going to be?"
"It'll be my surprise."
"It better not be over the top," David chided.
"Don't get so catty. You're not a woman yet," Veronika retorted.
"No Catwoman," David replied, thinking he read between the lines.
"Not on my radar. You'd have to first pass girl to proceed onto Super
Villainess."
"So, I'll just be a girl?" David asked for a clue.
"An All-American girl for an All American man," Veronika replied.
"Can you be a little more specific?"
"I could, but where would the fun be in that."
David laughed at her words while he walked away from Veronika to get
back to work. He was excited as he sat at his desk. He found it hard
to concentrate on much else besides what he would find himself wearing
to the costume contest that Saturday.
A sense of intrigue hung over him until he walked up to and knocked upon
Veronika's apartment door on Saturday evening. Veronika had resisted
his every attempt to get more information about their costumes, which
had only increased his fantasies about the night ahead.
Veronika drew the door open to let her boss into her home. He looked
around before Veronika asked, "You shaved your legs right."
"Yes, I brought back your razor too."
"Oh, you can keep that," Veronika retorted with a disgusted look as she
looked at the bag that David was holding up.
"What am I going to do with a lady's razor?" David inquired, confused by
her words and look.
"Stella can use it on Monday when she makes her triumphant return!"
"Don't count your chickens."
"I'm just counting one chick," Veronika rejoined.
David rolled his eyes at his secretary before she motioned for him to
follow her. David walked towards her bathroom and saw the undergarments
that Veronika had laid out on her vanity top.
David's eyes examined the suntan pantyhose, white thigh-highs, blue
panties and blue bra. He scrunched his nose as he asked, "What exactly
are we going as?"
"Well, I'm going as Veronica, of course."
"Going as yourself is not a costume!"
"Well, a different Veronica. We spell it differently."
David gave her a curious look before she said, "I'll be Veronika, and
you'll be Betty."
David searched his mind to make the connection before he said, "You mean
from Archie comics?"
Veronika nodded in reply. David shook his head as he said, "Those are
still around?"
"Archie never dies."
"Who will be able to tell who we are?"
"The R never lies."
"The R?"
"Riverdale High's letter."
"You know entirely too much about Archie comics!"
"You never read a comic before?"
"Not Archie."
"Well, try not to think of it as dressing as up as Betty then. Think
about it as dressing up like Taylor Swift. She's pretty much Betty in
the flesh."
"That is not making this any better," David said with a shake of his
head.
"What would you have preferred?"
"I don't know," David lied in response, not wanting to hint that he had
a preference when it came to wearing a female costume.
"Maybe Wonder Woman?"
"No," David replied, truthfully, sure that his manhood would give him a
way in instant in a leotard.
"Good because I told you. You haven't earned your stripes yet to be a
girl, let alone a Super Girl."
"Super Girl is not Wonder Woman."
"God, you're such a nerd," Veronika said with a laugh.
"No. Everyone knows that, and I'm not the one who knows about Archie
comics," David retorted with his hands on his hips in a pose that made
Veronika chuckle.
Veronika then added with a shake of her head, "Just get dressed
already."
"But where's the rest of the costume?" David inquired.
"I'll get it. Just get dressed.
"Are you really sure about this?" David asked while he began to take off
his shirt.
Veronika paused before she replied, "I'm sure."
"What was with the pause?" David asked.
"A thought just crossed my mind that you might look better than me in
it. I might have to kill myself if that happens," Veronika said with a
smile and another shake of her head.
"I wouldn't worry about it."
"I'm not," Veronika admitted before she left David to get dressed in his
underwear.
David locked the bathroom door shortly after she exited. His attempts
to hide his eagerness to dress left him as a grin came to his face while
he dropped his pants.
David's boxers followed his jeans to the floor before he reached for the
navy blue panties. The soft cotton panties felt nice in his hands as he
let his fingers linger on the fabric. He then pulled the panties slowly
up his smooth legs, trying to draw out the sensations before he situated
them on his waist.
After tucking himself, David gazed at the mirror and swayed his pantied
rear about. The appearance from behind made David's member hard before
his hands darted down to clutch the pair of suntan pantyhose Veronika
had gotten for him.
David rested on the edge of the toilet as he rolled the pantyhose down
before he brought them over his toes and ankles. Once they reached his
knees, he slowly got back onto his feet. David gingerly unrolled the
pantyhose up the rest of his legs. He smiled at the sensation of the
nylon as it increasingly encased his smooth skin.
'Why can't this be everyday?' David thought before stretching the
control top waistband over his stomach.
After tucking himself, David moved towards the sink to clasp the opaque,
white thigh highs that Veronika had left for him. He slowly rolled them
down before he brought each of them up his legs and stretched the blue
cuffs over his thighs.
The blue band around each stocking made David curious. He was sure that
it went with whatever costume he was going to be wearing. He thought
about what the character wore that was blue as he tried to deduce the
precise nature of the costume that Veronika was still keeping a secret.
David smiled at his body from the waist down before he took hold of his
padded, navy blue bra. David hooked the bra before he slipped his arms
through the straps and brought it down over his body.
David searched for something to stuff it with, but found that nothing
had been left for him.
"Veronika," David said through the door.
"Yes."
"Are you bringing me the rest of the costume or not?"
"I got it," Veronika said while her voice grew closer to the door.
Veronika turned the doorknob, but it would not budge. She shook her
head as she said, "Open up."
David nodded to himself as he unlocked the door and pulled it slightly
open. He peered around the door to take the costume from Veronika.
Veronika pulled her hand back and said, "Just let me in."
"I'll pass on that. Just give it here."
"Oh, come on. Like I haven't seen a guy before," Veronika retorted as
she pushed at the door.
David stumbled back slightly as his nylon covered feet slipped on the
tile floor. Planting his feet, he easily held Veronika on the other
side of the door.
David could hear her laughing before he asked, "What?"
"Look at you trying to hide yourself like you're embarrassed about what
I'm going to see."
"I don't want to show you it."
"I can see it in the mirror."
David's head jerked towards his reflection that was showing the
waistband of his pantyhose and bra covered top.
"Ugh...," David uttered to Veronika's laughter.
"Come on, let me in," Veronika begged in a sweet tone.
"Fine," David replied letting go of the door, no longer seeing the point
of his struggle. Veronika began to laugh as she looked at the flatness
of David's tucked away groin beneath his pantyhose.
"Please stop laughing," David said as he blushed.
"Do you have a penis?" Veronika asked while she handed him the gold and
blue skirt of his costume uniform.
"Yes. It's just away," David retorted through gritted teeth.
"Away?" Veronika responded with a laugh.
"Away," David repeated as she stepped into the pleated, elastic waist
skirt that he quickly brought up his legs, no longer caring what the
costume was. He was happy enough to have any skirt covering his
smoothened crotch.
David felt less exposed as he situated the waistband over his hips
before he noticed the hem was barely reached his mid-thigh.
"Was this really the costume you had to pick out?"
"I'm wearing a matching one," Veronika countered.
"Yah, but you'll probably look a little better in it."
"That's why I choose it," Veronika retorted.
David nodded, knowing that she was certainly correct before he added,
"You can't stand getting outshined can you?"
"Not by a man," Veronika admitted as she patted his freshly shaven chest
and stepped out of the bathroom to get his wig.
David watched her leave the room before he caught sight of the breast
forms and top that she had left for him. David's eyes widened as he
said to himself, "She really went all out on this."
After David stuffed the cups of his bra with his C-cup breast forms, he
took hold of the top. David shook his head while he held the blue
sweater top that had a huge gold R on it, as well as one large gold and
white stripe on each arm.
"This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever worn," David said, holding
the top in front of him.
"Oh, you'll look fine," Veronika rejoined from beyond the door before he
pulled the top over his head.
David looked down at his outfit from the neck down and stuck his tongue
out. Veronika shook his head as she said, "It's not that bad."
"I look like a total perv in this," David retorted as he drew the door
open to look at her, while he tried in vain to pull the sweater top down
to meet the waistband of his skirt.
"That's only because you don't have the right accessories."
David gazed at her while she was dressed in a matching outfit. She
looked cute with her dark hair down before he cringed at the sight of
the chunky heeled, saddle shoes on her feet.
His eyes soon turned the longhaired blonde wig in her hand. He shook
his head as he said, "You really are trying to make me look like Taylor
Swift."
"You should be thankful I went with the cheerleader bit, instead of the
Swan Lake routine."
"What does that mean?"
"Nothing. Just shake it off, Stella."
"You're going to start with the Stella stuff already."
"Very well, I'll just stick to Betty then," Veronika countered to
David's rolling eyes.
Veronika stepped out of the room for a minute to grab her footstool.
David gave her a curious look, wondering why she had taken hold of it.
She soon gave him the answer as she stood up on the stool to get at eye-
to-eye level with him to place the wig on his head.
David gazed into her eyes while hers focused on making the wig seem as
natural as possible on his head. She adjusted the wig a few times
before she pinned it in place.
Once she finished, she took hold of her makeup and began to apply the
cosmetics to his face. She applied the cosmetics slowly, taking care to
add color to his face, but not so much as too draw unwanted attraction.
While she enjoyed the prospect of tarting up her boss, she wanted to
make David look natural.
After she finished and moved away from his head, she chided, "Would you
stop pulling on your sweater!"
"It keeps riding up."
"It's not riding up. It's short. Look at mine."
David gazed at her top and noticed that her midriff was slightly exposed
as well, even as she stood with her hands to the side.
"Why is it so short?"
"To make it sexier," Veronika answered.
David shrugged, realizing that it made sense in the context of most
women's costumes he saw.
"I've got something to make it even sexier," Veronika said as produced a
piece of jewelry.
"What is that?" David inquired.
"A clip-on belly button ring," Veronika explained.
"Is that necessary?"
"I've got one."
"Yours is real!"
"If you want a real one, I could certainly make arrangements," Veronika
countered with a smirk.
"I'll pass on the offer, but thanks though."
"Maybe someday."
"No, that's a firm never," David replied.
Veronika smiled at his assuredness as she said, "Never say never," while
she set about clipping faux belly button ring. David's eyes focused on
the dangling, rhinestone studded, hollow heart pendant and tassels while
she situated the piece of jewelry. Once David felt the pinch of the
closures on his belly button, she told him to bend down.
"What for?"
"I want to put your earrings in."
"I don't need earrings."
"You do if your wig hair is shifted and people can see your ears."
"How do you even know that I have pierced ears?" David asked as Veronika
produced a pair of earrings.
"I'm not blind. I saw the holes, Stella."
As she answered, David cringed at the hollow heart earrings with a
border brim of miniature pink gems that were crowned by a solid pink
heart that hung slightly from a silver stud.
"Aren't I a little old for those."
"Every girl's 16 on Halloween," Veronika chided with a smile.
"All right," David replied as he bent down. After Veronika placed the
first earring in the right ear, she asked, "Why did you get both of your
ears pierced?"
"I was a teenager. I was rebelling against my parents," David answered
with a half-truth.
Veronika acted as if she believed his response while she finished
putting the earring in his left ear before he stood up. With his
jewelry attended to, Veronika said, "Now, we're in the homestretch."
"What else is there?" David asked, trying to pretend to be disappointed
about having to wear more feminine finery.
"Shoes for starters," Veronika countered as she walked away to get the
pair of shoes she purchased for him.
From the pair on Veronika's feet, David knew what he was in store for.
While he had walked in heels higher and narrower for years, he knew that
Veronika would expect him to have some difficulty in the shoes.
'You're supposed to be new to this,' David reminded himself as Veronika
returned with the shoes.
"Cute huh?" Veronika said as she held out the costume, saddle shoes for
him.
"If you say so," David replied, not wanting to admit he liked their
appearance. David took the shoes from Veronika and slipped his foot
into the first shoe. He felt an instant change in his balance before he
clasped an end table and worked his left foot into the other shoe.
"Shouldn't we be wearing sneakers?"
"What?"
"No cheerleader would wear these."
"Fortunately, we're not real cheerleaders. We're just trying to look to
like two girls trying to look good," Veronika countered as he stood back
up.
"Trying to look like girls trying to have a good time is more like it,"
David countered while he stared at his feet.
David shifted his feet in the shoes, trying to act as if he was
unfamiliar with heels. Veronika gave him a shake of her, not willing to
hide her disbelief over his feigned lack of familiarity with heeled
shoes.
"Little different than wedges?" She asked.
"They feel weird," David lied before she held out a black pocketbook for
him.
He reached for the pocketbook and started putting his belongings in the
bag without being instructed. His keys and wallet entered before
Veronika said, "Let me get the rest of your stuff."
"That's all I need."
"The hell it is," she countered before she started for the bathroom.
David followed behind her and watched as she collected the cosmetics she
put on his face. She put them in his bag, along with another clip-on
belly ring.
"Is one not enough?"
"You might lose one, if you get jostled around."
"Who's going to jostle me?" David asked.
"It's a crowded place. You might rub up against people."
David shook his head as he said, "Won't happen more than once with a
man."
"Why?"
"Because I'll kick his ass."
"That kind of language is not becoming of a pretty girl."
"Just because I'm beautiful doesn't mean I can't be ruthless," David
retorted to Veronika's laughter.
Once the last cosmetic was put away, Veronika zipped the bag closed and
said, "This should just about do it."
David nodded while he took the bag and inquired, "Are you ready to go?"
Veronika nodded in reply. Her eyes then widened before she said, "Just
one more thing."
David gave her an inquisitive look that he was certain to make sure
conveyed his anxiousness and peevishness at yet another request from his
secretary. As he waited for her to return, he yelled, "Hurry up,
Columbo."
"Now, you're dating yourself."
"My Mom was a fan," David explained.
"Well, tell me if your Mom would be a fan of these."
David shook his head and said in an exasperated tone, "What the hell,
Veronika?"
"Aren't they great?" Veronika asked as she held up the matching pink
lettered necklace pendants spelling out their costumes namesakes.
"You expect me to wear that?" David asked while Veronika started putting
her Veronica necklace on.
"Why not? Can you help me with the clasp?"
"Sure," David replied locking the necklace before she started placing
the Betty necklace around his neck.
"This is overboard."
"It's a costume. It's supposed to be overboard," Veronika chided as she
stepped away from him.
"It's too flamboyant," David retorted with crossed arms.
"That's a boy concern. It helps complete the look. You've got to think
like a girl."
"You're really going to play that card?"
"I always play every card I have," Veronika answered.
David shook his head while he ran his fingers across the sparkling pink
letters resting over the sweetheart neckline of his sweater top.
Veronika placed her purse strap on her shoulder before she grabbed her
sparkling, blue and gold pompoms and started for her front door.
David felt nervous as he walked through the door carrying his own
pompoms. While he was not as nervous as the one time he left his own
apartment en femme, he was still uneasy about it.
David shook a little as he started towards the stairs. Veronika smiled
at his obvious practice in heels as he had no trouble navigating the
staircase.
The cool autumn wind greeted them as they exited the building. David
shivered a little before Veronika joked, "You should be thankful I
thought to get you a pair of pantyhose to go with the stockings."
"No. You should be thankful because I wouldn't have gone out
otherwise."
"Is that so?" Veronika asked.
"Yup and you would have looked ridiculous without me."
"Someone's got a high opinion of herself. That's supposed to be
Veronica's thing."
"Just calling it like I see it," David said, accidentally shaking his
pompoms in the process with his shivering hands.
Veronika laughed at the sound her boss produced before she led him to
her car. David paused before he asked, "Don't you want to take my car?"
Veronika shook her head. While David always drove when they went out
together, she was not going to let him drive her in heels no matter how
practiced she suspected he might be.
"I drive in heels all the time," Veronika reminded him.
"Oh, okay. I guess it could be dangerous."
"It can be you ditz," Veronika chided with a laugh.
"You're one to talk about being a ditz."
"I'm not the blonde. Just remember that."
"I'm not a natural blonde," David countered.
"A blonde is a blonde," Veronika rejoined.
David got into her car before she started to drive them. They talked
while they drove from the apartment building towards the bar before
Veronika pulled into a shopping center.
"What are we doing?"
"Shopping for Stella," Veronika answered as she parked the car.
"I'm not going shopping like this!"
"Why not?"
"Are you serious? You can't seriously be asking me that!"
"Oh, come on. It'll be a fun."
"I'm already in my costume. What else are we going to shop for?"
"Stella, it's just a thrift store. We've got to get you ready for
Monday. It's not like you have clothes just lying around for Monday,
and you won't fit into mine."
David blushed, wondering if she knew the truth. He pondered if she was
trying to get him to admit it to her.
"Couldn't this wait until tomorrow? I mean, somebody's going to say
something.
"So, you want to get dressed up tomorrow too?" Veronika teased.
"No," David replied with a shake of his head and blushing cheeks.
"Well, then, that settles it. Doesn't it?" Veronika countered while she
shut off the car.
David wanted to stop her, but he feared that he would be playing into
her game if he did.
"Damn it," David muttered while he got out of the car and walked next to
Veronika.
David saw the smiles they were getting from some people who passed them.
David was shocked that no one called him out as he walked through the
parking lot in a cheerleader outfit. The only thing he heard was a few
joking compliments while they made their way into the store.
Under the brighter lights of the store, David figured that someone would
note what he was and give him an out from showing up to work as Stella
on Monday.
David was disappointed to see that the thrift store was largely
deserted.
"Hey, Veronika," the salesclerk called out as she saw Veronika enter the
shop with David to his surprise.
'They know each other,' David thought, wondering about the reason why.
"Hi, Gillian," Veronika said greeting the girl with a wave while she
moved towards the racks of clothing she perused at least twice a week.
"What are you looking for this time?" Gillian asked before she saw
Veronika pickup a skirt that would be long on her.
Gillian laughed at the skirt as she joked, "What is that, the collective
length of every skirt you've ever worn?"
David and Veronika laughed at her claim, knowing Veronika's predilection
for above the knee hemlines. Watching Veronika put the skirt back,
Gillian said, "Okay, so, you were just messing with me?"
"It's not for me," Veronika said as she picked up another skirt that she
estimated to be in her boss's size.
"What's going on?"
"We're shopping for my friend here ," Veronika answered the girl.
"Does she have a name?" Gillian asked with a smile as she stared at
David.
"I call her Betty."
"Oh, Betty. So, do you two fight over Archie?"
David blushed at the idea of fighting with Veronika over a guy. He
shook his head in silence before Veronika said, "Oh, no. I'm her
Archie."
Gillian was taken aback by her claim before she said, "I never knew
that."
"I'm just kidding you. My friend is starting her first day of office
work and she needs to start off with something cheap."
"Well, we've got some nice professional clothing for her."
"You don't need to tell me," Veronika countered with a smile.
"I know. You know too well."
"What do you think of this one? Do you think that David will approve?"
Veronika asked with a smirk as she held up a jet-black swing dress with
a button up v-neckline, white portrait collar, ruched three-quarter
length sleeves and an A-line circle swing skirt.
"Do I look like Agent Carter," David whispered to Veronika with a shake
of his head.
"Is David her boss?" Stella interjected.
"He's my boss," Veronika replied, ignoring David's response.
"Oh, you've got the same boss."
"Yup, Stella's joining the office come Monday."
"It's great that you guys are expanding."
"Yah, it'll be good to have another girl around the office again,"
Veronika replied as she shot David a smile.
Gillian nodded before she turned to David and asked, "So, what do you
think, sweetie?"
"It's fine," David replied, trying to hide his gender by throwing his
voice.
"Is she shy?" Gillian asked.
"Very," Veronika answered with a nod.
"Don't be shy. I'm not going to bite," Gillian said with a laugh.
David nodded.
"So, what do you think?' Veronika asked again.
David shrugged before Veronika put the dress back and reached for a top.
She held it up and asked, "What do you think of this one?"
"That's something my grandmother would wear, put it back," David
replied.
"Ouch," Gillian said with a laugh.
"She can be a bit of bitch, right? Now, do you see why I shop alone?"
Veronika joked.
Gillian responded with a nod of her head as David felt outnumbered. As
Veronika reached for pink, white, green, blue and red floral print,
swing dress, she said, "This will do."
"I don't know about that...," David replied while he looked over the v-
neck bodice with structured seaming and pleated details and three-
quarter sleeves.
"What? Is it too much like something your grandma would wear?" Veronika
asked while she pulled at the wide empire banding before she ran her
fingertips along the faux buttons that detailed the front and sleeves.
"No. It's a little loud," David replied before he thought, 'And that it
looks like I'd be dressing to pickup Don Draper.'
"Good, we could use some color at the office," Veronika rejoined as she
handed the dress to David. Gillian chatted with Veronika as they
approached the shoes.
David gazed down at them before he reached for a pair of flats. Gillian
smirked as she asked Veronika, "Can you even walk in flats?"
"I don't know. I don't know if I ever worn a shoe without a three inch
heel to work since I started with David. I really don't think that my
boss would want one of his girls starting to do that now."
David gave her a peeved look before he reached down for a pair of heels.
He searched the shoes for few in his size before he slipped his right
foot into a floral print d'Orsay pump with a black, block heel.
"What do you think of this?"
As Veronika went to give his opinion, David stopped her, "I was asking
the salesgirl."
Gillian shrugged at the shoes and said, "They're not really work style."
"Apparently, that's what Veronika wants then," David replied, shooting
Veronika a glare.
"David is not big into showings of individuality," Veronika countered.
"He sounds like a wet blanket," Gillian said with a shake of her head to
David.
"Only sometimes," Veronika replied with a smirk at David before he took
off the shoes and selected a pair of black, T-strap, block heeled pumps
and a rounded toe. After taking a few steps in them, he put his shoes
back on and carried the shoes to the register.
Gillian and Veronika followed him before Gillian rang up his purchases.
Gillian said the amount before David paid the amount she quoted him.
Once Gillian gave David his change, David carried the outfit back to
Veronika's car before they got into it. Veronika pulled away from the
shopping center and said, "See, that wasn't so bad."
"I can't believe she didn't say anything."
"Why would she?"
"She had to know. You must have put her up to it."
"I swear I didn't," Veronika replied with a shake of her head.
"This is getting weird."
"And the night's just getting started," Veronika reminded David.
'Don't remind me,' David thought before he smiled while he began to
fantasize that Gillian had really not seen through him. It seemed
unlikely, but he was intrigued by the possibility.
Doubts reemerged in David's minds as they pulled into the parking lot of
the shopping center that housed the bar. He was sure that his views of
himself were far truer than anything Veronika had said or Gillian had
hinted at.
Veronika parked the car and said, "Ready?"
"Here goes nothing," David said, pushing the door open. He knew from
too many experiences in his life that he had to push forward without
thinking sometimes. There were moments where dwelling on a necessary
move only made it harder.
David strolled beside Veronika while they walked into the bar. The
place was already filled when they entered it.
They struggled to make their way to the bar and get their drink orders
served. David looked around and caught a few men gazing at them, giving
David no hint of knowing that he was really a man.
'Holy shit! She may have been right!'
As David sipped on his fruity drink that his secretary insisted on,
Veronika went and entered them into the costume competition. She
flagged David over to her to prove they were a duo for the female group
portion of the competition.
"We don't have a prayer," David whispered to her as he saw a group of
girls dressed like a feminized version of the Avengers.
"Don't worry about those nerds," Veronika joked.
"What about those girls," David said with wide eyes as he looked at a
group of four girls dressed in Playboy Bunny outfits.
"Skanks."
"Skanks sell," David replied.
"Is that so?" Veronika said.
David gave her a nod before she responded, "So, maybe next year that
will be us."
David grimaced at the thought as he said, "Too old for that."
"I'm too old?" Veronika said in peeved tone that made David immediately
apologize as he explained that he only meant himself.
"So, that's the only reason you wouldn't it. Uh, huh," Veronika
countered with a grin.
David let her words pass without rebuttal since he was happy that he was
back on her good side for the moment. David smiled as he moved around
the bar with Veronika.
They exchanged compliments about their costumes with many of the fellow
revelers. David was shocked that not a person said a word about his
gender, even as they heard his best feminine voice that sounded
unconvincing to him.
Veronika picked up hints from some of the patrons that they knew what
David really was, but she quickly separated them from those customers
before they could question David about it. Too enamored with being en
femme in public, David missed the non-verbal cues that Veronika was
noticing.
As the hours went by, David heard the DJ say that the costume contest
results were being announced. They read out the winners of the best
mixed-group costume. The best boy group costume was read out next.
Veronika grabbed David's hand as they read out the best girl group
costume winner. David clutched it back as he thought, 'Don't get your
hopes up, girl.'
David's jaw dropped as they read out their names. The same polite
applause that the prior winners got was given to them.
"We won? How the fuck did we win? The Bunnies and the Avengerettes
must have split the bimbo - nerd vote," David exclaimed with a
dumbfounded look.
"That must be it," Veronika whispered back with a smirk, figuring that
they picked up a lot of votes from those who wanted a drag queen to be
one of the 'girl' winners.
As they walked up to accept their meager award, David looked over to the
manager beside the DJ and said, "You can't give this to us."
"Why's that?"
"Because I'm not a girl," David admitted in a low tone with blushing
cheeks.
The manager gave David a surprised reaction. The DJ's eyes darted over
to David as well. He looked David over and said, "Close enough."
"That's good enough for me. Keep it moving, folks," the manager said.
Veronika laughed while she led David away and said, "Now, Stella, I
expect you in first thing on Monday."
David was in shock that not only had he passed in his mind, but he was
being rewarded for being a girl. David walked slowly behind Veronika,
slowing her down in the process.
"Pick it up, girlfriend," Veronika chided while the DJ read out the
winner for best male costume.
It was not long before Veronika and David were out the front door of the
bar. The wind was even colder and made David shiver, despite the
sweater and double layers of nylon that covered most of his legs.
As David got into the car, Veronika turned to him and said, "Have you
learned to never doubt me?"
"I learned that a while ago," David replied.
"Well, then, start acting like it," Veronika chided with a smile while
she pulled out of the parking stall to drive them back to her apartment.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
David arose early on Monday morning to get ready for work. A smile came
to his face as he knew what he would wear that day. It was something he
always wanted to wear to work, but he had been limited to wearing it
when he worked from home.
David had a quick breakfast before he showered. His body was still free
of hair from the shaving he had done the night prior.
After David dried off, he went into his bedroom and pulled out a pair of
hosiery and a bra and panty set. David pulled his towel away before he
reached for his panties.
David stepped into the panties and his manhood stirred as he pulled them
up to his waist. Moving quickly to situate his member before it fully
hardened, David jerked it between his legs and cringed at the discomfort
he knew would pass soon enough.
After adjusting the waistband of panties, David hooked his bra. His
arms slipped through the straps as he pulled the pre-hooked bra over his
head and situated it over his flat, hairless chest.
David adjusted the straps of the bra before he sat on the edge of his
bed to put on his mesh diamond, patterned, black sheer tights. He
slowly brought the nylon and spandex hosiery up his legs, enjoying the
sensation as the silky fabric slowly dragged along his skin while he
unfurled it.
Standing up, David brought the control top of the SPANX brand tights to
his waist. He then moved towards his closet to take hold of the outfit
he had been daydreaming about wearing to work for years.
David removed the black skirt suit from the closet. It was the same
skirt suit he wore once before to work, but this time, he was not going
to pair this suit with wedges.
Veronika had already seen him walk in heels now. There was no reason to
hide it. He was sure that she had noticed the truth. While he was not
ready to come out and admit it, he was prepared to demonstrate it.
David stepped into the pencil skirt of the suit and brought it up his
legs. He pulled up the zipper of the skirt before he stuffed the cups
of his bra with his breast forms and went back to his closet to select a
blouse.
There was only one blouse that he had in mind. It was the most feminine
top he had that would go with his suit. Given that Veronika was
expecting him to show up in a bright floral swing dress, he figured that
the top was not that far away from her expectations.
David reached for the flora pink, sleeveless blouse with a stand collar.
David pulled the lightweight top over his head. He worked his head
through the stand color before he fastened the double button-loop
keyhole closure behind his neck.
As David looked down at the tie-like ruffle that cascaded down from the
stand collar, slightly off center, he thought with a smile, "She's going
to choke when she sees me."
With that thought in mind, David went into the bathroom to do his
makeup. While the first time he did his makeup to be seen by Veronika
he had gone for an understated, unskilled look, David decided that he
would do it right this time.
Every skill he had picked up over the years was put to use as he applied
his makeup.
Finishing with his makeup, David turned his attention to his hair.
David felt the length was too short to pull off any feminine look.
David resigned himself to putting on one of his wigs before he placed on
his wig cap and went back into his bedroom to retrieve a wig.
While David wanted to put on a different wig, David felt limited to the
brunette wig he wore his first time in the office en femme and the
blonde wig that Veronika had gifted to him the night before. Deciding
he could play off the wig as a left over from his first time en femme,
David grabbed the brunette wig.
David pinned the long, straight haired, brunette wig tightly to his wig
cap. Once he finished adjusting the long hair over his shoulders, he
went back into his bedroom to get a necklace.
David placed on a necklace with a silver chain that was attached to a
small pendant with a center stone surrounded by a halo of crystals
before he paired it with round cubic zirconia stud earrings. David then
bent down to grab the pair of black suede pumps with 4 ?-block heels he
wanted to pair with his outfit the first time he put it on to go to the
office.
While he knew that there was no doubt that Veronika would notice that
the pumps were not shoes he had worn around her before nor the ones she
had selected with him, he assumed that it was impossible for her not to
realize that he was cross-dresser. She had seen him do far too much to
pretend otherwise.
David put his 3/4' platform heels into his unzipped pocketbook before he
slipped his feet into a pair of silver foldable flats and reached for
the matching jacket of his skirt suit. David slipped his arms through
it and pulled at the sleeves before he slung the oversized bag that
Veronika had lent him onto his shoulder. David felt confident as he
sauntered towards the front door of his apartment, pausing only to put
on the cat-eyed framed, black sunglasses to give him an extra layer of
anonymity.
David drew the door open to the outside of his ground floor apartment.
He shivered from the cold late autumn air as he locked the door behind
him.
David made his way to his car in the most hurried steps his tight skirt
restricted hem would allow him to take. He knew not to dawdle as he
remotely started his car. David stepped into the car with a racing
heart before he pulled out of the parking lot to head to his office
building, hoping that he had escaped notice once more.
David put on music while he drove. He enjoyed listening to the songs as
he felt at ease driving to work en femme.
Once he parked, David reached for his feet. He slipped off one flat and
replaced it with a heel and buckled the ankle strap, before he did the
same with his left foot.
David felt the familiar arch of his feet and smiled. He loved the
feeling and wished that he could sense it everyday at the office, even
as he knew the pain he would experience if he did so.
Tossing the bowed, faux leather, foldable flats to the passenger side
floor, David reached for the car door handle to let himself out. The
grey sky did little to damper his enthusiasm as he moved towards the
door with a deliberate wiggle in his step.
David drew the front door open and tried to force the smile away from
his face while he walked through the hallway that had vacancies that
seemed like a blessing to him under the circumstances. David drew the
front door to his office suite open and was happy to find it was
unlocked.
Veronika's eyes widened as she saw David walking about in an outfit she
instantly recognized, but was not the one she expected. Veronika shot
him a smirk before she asked, "What happened to the outfit we picked out
at the thrift store?"
"I decided that if I was going to do this, I would do in something I
picked out."
"So, Stella's building up a whole new wardrobe," Veronika countered,
knowing that the outfit came from straight out of her boss's closet.
As David walked by her, Veronika caught sight of the heels on his feet.
She recognized that they were not shoes she had seen him wearing before.
A smile came to her face as she asked, "Stella, did you go shopping?"
"What was that?" David inquired.
"Are those new shoes?"
"Um...yah," David responded, realizing that she had instantly noticed
the fact that she had never seen the pair before.
"Well, actually, they look kind of used," Veronika replied with a
knowing smirk.
"Another thrift purchase," David lied.
"I'm so sure," Veronika responded with a patronizing tone to make clear
her disbelief.
David knew she had called him on his fib, but he decided to let it go.
David smiled as he pivoted in his heels and asked, "So, what do you
think of my look?"
Veronika paused before she exclaimed, "You look DIVINE, girlfriend,"
punctuating her words with a laugh.
David grinned as he replied with a bob, "Thank you."
"No, but being serious, I do love those shoes."
"These old things."
Veronika gave him a nod before David gave Veronika a compliment on her
pantsuit she rarely wore. Veronika smiled at the remark before she
thanked him for the compliment.
David walked into his office and put his purse down. He logged into his
computer and started back into the common area with his coffee cup in
hand.
"Stella, while you're up, can you get me a cup of coffee?"
"Are your legs broken?" David inquired with a smirk.
"I could see you were heading there anyway..." Veronika countered.
"Fine...I'll do it," David replied with deliberate dramatics.
Veronika held out her cup with both hands to present it to her boss with
a smile. David took it by the handle and headed for the coffee maker.
David smiled at the sound of his heels on the tiled floor before the
sink and coffee maker. He came to a stop while he made cups of coffee
for the both of them. As it brewed, he felt more at ease than he ever
had en femme before.
The tight restriction of his skirt while he walked back towards Veronika
brought a grin to his face. He shook the grin away as he thought, 'Why
can't this be everyday?'
David walked up to Veronika and placed the cup on her desk. Veronika
turned and gave him her thanks before he went back into his office to
start working.
David worked at his desk for most of the morning. Except for the way
Veronika was treating him, it was only the feelings that surrounded his
body that made the day seem anything but normal to David while he worked
at his desk.
With every call that came in, Veronika called out "Stella" before
telling David who was on the line for him. David's member twitched with
her every reference to his feminine name.
As David took the calls, he struggled not to think about what the men
and women on the other end of the line would think if they knew how he
was dressed at that moment. He was sure that most would be shocked
and/or appalled by it.
David tapped his feet at his desk before he felt a sense of pain
shooting up his ankles while he was on a call. David reached down and
pulled off each heel while he continued to talk with the girl. David
smiled at the instant relief he felt as he freed his feet from his
shoes. He wondered if the girl he was speaking to had ever done the
same thing, which only made his manhood stir further.
Bringing some papers to David for review, Veronika walked around the
desk and caught sight of his feet. She placed the papers down on his
desk and gazed down at him.
David mouthed 'Thank you' to her before she stood beside his desk while
David wrapped up his call.
As David hung up, he turned to Veronika and saw her shaking head. David
swiveled his chair towards her with his legs still crossed at the ankle
and asked, "What's going on?"
"Really, Stella?"
"What?"
"You couldn't make it through the morning without taking off your
shoes?"
"I was just giving my feet a rest. Don't even tell me that you don't do
it," David retorted with a shake of his head.
Veronika could not lie that she had not done so in the past so she
replied, "Yes, but I was in the heels for more than a day."
"So, you're used to them," David countered.
"You only get so used to them," Veronika retorted.
'I wish I could find that out for myself,' David thought while he gave
her a sympathetic nod.
"Anyway, what do you want for lunch?" Veronika inquired.
David deferred and said, "Well, we didn't go out for your birthday. So,
why don't you pick?"
"My pleasure," Veronika replied before she told him where they were
ordering and went to get a menu.
She returned with the menu and gave it to David. David read the menu
before he gave Veronika his order.
Veronika smiled as she said, "Why don't you call it in?"
David gave her a curious look before she elaborated, "You're dressed for
the part."
"And why is that?" David asked, feeling his member twitch at the thought
that she might be right.
"Who's wearing the pants here?" Veronika countered.
"So, you wear the pants now?"
"Does the pantsuit lie?"
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"Let me ask you this? If someone came in right now and looked at our
outfits, ONLY, who would they think is the boss?"
"I don't think you could go by that...," David responded.
"It's just an experience question. If you see one girl in a skirt and
one in a pantsuit, and know there is only one boss, who would you think
is the boss?"
"Well, I don't want to make generalizations," David demurred as his
manhood throbbed between his legs.
"I think I got my answer," Veronika replied before giving him her order.
David shook his head as he dialed the phone number on the menu and gave
his order before he paused and looked at Veronika. With a smile he told
the woman Veronika's order, feeling every inch of being Veronika's
secretary for a few moments. After jotting down when the food would be
ready for pickup, David hung up the phone and the high left him.
Reality returned as David gave Veronika his company credit card to pay
for the meal before she left to go pick it up. David worked in silence
in his office while he waited for his lunch to come in.
He answered a few phone calls in Veronika's absence before he heard her
return to the office suite. Veronika setup their meal up on the
conference room table and went into David's office to call him into the
room.
After slipping his feet back into his heels, David joined Veronika in
the conference room. As they ate, they chatted about various matters.
It was only Veronika's constant references to him as Stella that made it
any different from their normal conversations. David enjoyed the causal
ease that she was handling his cross-dressing with that day.
A grin came to Veronika's face while she asked, "So, when will Stella be
making her next appearance at the office?"
David swallowed hard as he answered, "There will be a next time?"
"Was that a question or are you channeling McArthur. You know his
mother kept him in skirt way past when it was appropriate."'
"That may explain some things," David replied with a furrowed brow
before he added, "Stella, isn't planning to come around again."
David could see the disappointment on Veronika's face. He was sure he
was even more disappointed by the fact, but he could not see anyway for
him to keep up his Stella act and run his business.
After they finished eating, David helped Veronika clean the conference
room. Veronika left David with the spray and paper towels as she went
to throw away the empty bottles, dirtied wrappers and plastic utensils.
David started spraying the table and wiping it down as he waited for her
to relieve him. David felt the pull of his skirt as he leaned over the
table to wipe the glass top. David made his way around the table, his
heeled feet shuffling to the side with each step he took.
As he finished, David shook his head surprised that Veronika had not
returned. He went to look for her with the glass cleaner and paper
towels in his hands.
David paused as he noticed her working at her desk. David gazed at her
while he inquired, "Why didn't you come back?"
"I figured that you had it under control," Veronika answered.
"You didn't think that you should take care of it?"
"Did it kill you, Stella?"
"No."
"Well, do you know what it takes to do it now?"
"It doesn't take much," David replied with a shake of his head.
"Is that what you think of what I do?"
"No," David responded with haste.
"Sometimes, I think that you think that I don't do anything around
here."
"That's not true."
"You know I was thinking...since you are dressed for it...why don't you
shadow me the rest of the day."
"Oh, come on," David replied with a laugh as his member started to
engorge again.
"No. I'm serious. Cory shadowed me for a day. Why don't you do it for
an afternoon?"
"Well, Cory's been paying for that one ever since."
"That's not what he's paying for," Veronika replied with a shake of her
head.
David nodded, knowing the truth of her words.
"So, what do you say, Stella?" Veronika asked with a smirk.
"Well, I'm not too swamped today..."
"I'll take that as a yes."
"I knew you would," David replied with a laugh.
"Come on, pull up a seat," Veronika gently ordered.
David grabbed a guest seat and sat beside Veronika like his son had
several months earlier. He gave her an eager look as he said, "Show me
what you do."
"You know, why don't I coach you through it? Let's change seats."
David watched as Veronika got up before he got to his heeled feet,
balancing himself on the arms of the chair while he did so as Veronika
had done. He sat down in Veronika's seat and adjusted it before he
pulled himself beneath her desk.
"Where do I start?" David inquired.
"Why don't you add a few of your new contacts into the system?"
"Is that a request?" David asked.
Veronika responded with a nod before he complied. David followed
Veronika directions as he opened his contacts and began inputting the
information from the business cards. While the work was easy, David was
surprised by how time consuming and tedious it was to perform.
"Well, that sucked," David said with a smile as he finished.
"It's not all fun and games," Veronika responded before she handed him
some documents to file away.
David took the documents and began to sort them before he walked to a
file cabinet. Veronika sat crossed legged with a smile as David made
his way from file cabinet to file cabinet to put away each document.
As David bent over the cabinet drawers he felt his tight outfit pulling
on his body. The pains in his feet were making him wince as he shuffled
them about in front of the file cabinets. David tried to speed up so
that he could sit back down.
Once David finished, he walked back over to Veronika's desk and started
to draft up correspondence to accompany the invoices that his company
was sending out. The language was all stock, but he had to pause to
check to ensure that the amounts quoted in the letters matched the
actual invoices. It was something that he had done before he hired an
assistant. Its tediousness was hardly a surprise to him, but he enjoyed
the way that Veronika talked to him as he toiled with it for the rest of
the afternoon, pausing only for the relief of a telephone conversation.
"This was a lot of fun, Stella," Veronika said as she hugged David
goodbye for the night.
David had never remembered her hugging him goodbye before at work,
except for when they were leaving before a holiday or vacation. David
wanted to admit how much fun he had, but he was reluctant too.
David could sense Veronika's disappointment over his refusal to admit
what his body and attitude had conveyed all day. Still, she kept it to
herself as she got into her car.
David continued walking to his car and got into it. He shut the door
and hung his head as he cursed his cowardice.
"Why can't I let myself be happy?" David muttered to himself.
His eyes veered towards the foldable flats he left on the passenger side
floor. David reached over to them and felt a muscle pull in his stomach
as he did so.
"Mother fucker," David moaned at the reminder of his increasing age.
As the pain subsided, his slipped his feet out of his heels and into the
flats. He put the heels away in his bag and started to pull out of the
parking lot.
The further he drove, the more preoccupied he was about his day as
Stella. David racked his mind while he neared his home trying to find
someway to lead Veronika into making another suggestion that Stella
should make an appearance at the office.
