She was 7 years old when the curse was first noticed, she was playing with her twin sister Abby, Abby had her hand on Lara and was thinking about how much she wanted another doll to play with and in flash Lara was a doll, even through the change was over in an instant Lara could feel the change, she couldn't do anything to stop it and a split second later Lara was a doll just like Abby's other dolls and identical to any you would find in a toy shop, Lara could still "see", "feel" and "hear" and if she tried really hard she realised she could squirm a little but nothing more than that, Abby played with Lara for hours as a doll until their mom called them for dinner.

Abby took her "doll" sister with her to the kitchen where their mom Kate was, after waiting for Lara to come Kate asked Abby where Lara was, Abby held "doll" Lara up and said she had turned into this doll, Kate took the "Doll" from Abby and thinking of Lara she silently wished the doll was Lara so she wouldn't have to go looking around the house for her, as soon as Kate had the thought Lara was transformed back into her original self.

After that day they discovered that when places their hand anywhere on Lara and thinks hard about something she becomes that something, Lara was able to change herself as well but she needs hands to do it so in order to turn back she needs someone else to do it and they discovered two other problems as-well, Lara's body could be modded rather than completely transformed which was not unexpected but what was is that doing it multiple times in the same go makes the change permanent, Lara discovered this when she was 10 and for the first time out grew Abby, Abby who had always been a little taller than Lara had a temper tantrum and while grabbing Lara admitted tater to thinking you should always be short I'm the tall one, this went on for a minute until their mom broke them up but the damage had been done, over the next eight years Lara did grow a little but the change was permanent and she would always be very short, Lara had tried over and over again to undo the change but she always remained small, she didn't mind too much, after all of all the ways she could had been changed over the years this was the easiest to live with permanently, she always wore high heeled shoes to help fix her height and dressed a little older.

Lara and Abby were not only sisters but the best of friends as well until the curse, mom didn't want anyone finding out about Lara's secret or even worse transforming her permanently by accident so she banned both sisters from having friends around and asked the school to keep a very close eye on both sisters at school, limiting her friends and constantly being watched at school started making Abby resent Lara and eventually Abby would start to act out by changing Lara into different things and hiding her for weeks or even months, eventually Abby would get punished when her mom found out, Lara did try to take the blame as much as possible saying she did it to herself by accident because even through Abby hated Lara she was still her sister and Abby's life had been turned upside down because of Lara so she did feel guilty but sometimes there was no way for Lara to take the blame and the rift between them just kept getting wider.

About 2 months after the sisters 18th birthday and it's Lara's fourth day back after spending a week as a cat, the victim of another one of Abby's pranks, Lara is currently in the shower, her mom is in the laundry room and Abby is still asleep
