He had accomplished some of that-he'd graduated in the top 10 percent of his class at the Point, been assigned to infantry and accepted for the rangers. He'd done well there and been awarded both the tan beret and the coveted black and gold ranger shoulder tab. Two years after graduation he'd been promoted to first lieutenant, and now had almost three years in grade. Promotion to captain was looming in his future. Then one day, while he was relaxing in his BOQ room after an exercise, IT happened to him. Which was not surprising statistically, given how large the military was, and roughly one in a thousand of the world's population had been affected. Jim Rand felt a sharp pain, and immediately fell unconscious, just like millions of others on the planet. He stayed that way for several hours, and then fought his way awake. When he awoke, he received the same shock that most of those millions of others did. The first thing he noticed was that his normal buzz cut had changed- locks of long blond hair drifted across his vision. Attempting to climb off his bed, his legs seemed to have a longer way to go to reach the floor, followed by a loss of balance due to two large weights on his chest, and noticing that his clothing hung quite loosely from his frame. A bit of military style profanity followed, with a thorough physical examination following THAT. The results were again, the same as many others. Ultra-macho, consummate warrior Jim Ward had been transformed into a woman. Looking into the mirror on his closet door, he surmised he was a extremely attractive one, something he was quite familiar with. He did not take this calmly, he had numerous questions, and was in total shock over how such a thing could have occurred, though breaking news from his television set soon answered that question. At this point, however, his military training took over and he began to think about what his next moves were. Starting with reporting to his commanding officer for a start. And then he (she) would be referred up the line while it was decided what to do with him (her). While it was quite legal for Jim to remain a ranger, it was also true that only a very few women had qualified for such a post, and all of them had met with a lot of resentment in such a super testosterone filled atmosphere. First things first. He had to report to captain Mike Carstairs, his company commander and immediate superior. according to regulations, for a formal report, Jim had to be in uniform-whether fatigues or Dress Blues was immaterial. He had to be properly dressed. And he had absolutely nothing to wear- nothing fit him, from civvies to uniforms to sweats. And his new chest assets were bouncing and were actually quite uncomfortable. He needed some help, and something to wear. The solution was obvious-he hoped. Since the military was almost completely integrated gender wise, the junior officers BOQ he lived in was also integrated in that manner. A good friend of his (and occasional date) 1st Lieutenant Jennifer Morrow lived a few doors down from him, and he knew she was in, he had seen her. He had known Jen almost from his first days at the academy, as they were in the same class and had graduated together. Jen was in S2 (Intelligence) and was also up for promotion soon, a little after him as her class rank was a few places lower than his. He decided to call her for some help. It may seem that Jim Ward was taking this somewhat too calmly-but nothing could be further from the truth. He was angry, in shock, dismayed and not a little afraid of what the future would hold for him/her. But as a ranger, the best of the best, he was trained to keep his head in any situation and work his way through it. This was a little out of the ordinary, but the same principles applied. He had to show he was in complete control of himself or the military would make the decision quite simple, though not in a way that was to his liking. Jen Morrow had heard the same news broadcasts her friend Jim had, though she was surprised to find out he was a victim of the event. He explained to her that he needed to report to his company commander, and as she knew, in uniform. He asked if he could borrow a set of fatigues or something from her, as he could place his own nametag on it since they were attached with velcro. And the rank insignia would match, since they were both O-2s (first Lieutenant). Naturally, she agreed to his request, and brought a set of camos down to his BOQ room. She thought for a minute and grabbed a few other items he would need in his current state-a pair of panties, a bra and an OD t-shirt, necessary according to regulations for female personnel in fatigues. She also grabbed a spare pair of combat boots, since his own jump boots probably wouldn't fit his smaller feet. A simple black scrunchie for his hair completed the list of items she was lending her formerly male friend. When Jim saw the items in the bag she held in her hand, he turned as green as his Class-A uniform, he hadn't even thought of female underwear, especially not a bra. But since it made sense, he asked Jen to help him get dressed in the unfamiliar garments, which she did. She also brushed out his hair and placed in an approved military style. She then volunteered to go with him to the Captain's office. While enlisted troops might need permission to see a captain, except during open hours, for two officers it was different. The company clerk (a spec-4) and the E-8 first sergeant simply announced them to the captain and waved them in. They came to attention, saluted and Jim, being senior, gave the standard reporting spiel. The captain at first didn't believe that the beautiful blonde lieutenant standing in front of him was in reality the top platoon commander in the entire battalion. But since a flash memo had gone out from the Pentagon, Conus, the Base, and Special Ops Command and he had received all of them, he eventually realized thew truth of the situation. As a matter of fact, given the thousands of troops at their base, almost 30 others had also fallen victim to the event, including two others in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Some of the others had undergone gender changes (both ways), gotten taller or shorter, received extra limbs or a change of skin color in shades such as green or orange. The flash memo also gave a directive- all subjects were to be taken to the base hospital and locked in a secure ward for 90 days observation. All pay and benefits, plus scheduled actions were to be continued, as the subjects hadn't committed any crimes as yet. Those found to be harmless were to be restored to duty if possible (some weren't obviously, and some had to change career fields). Jim was one of the latter. As an officer, Jim was entitled to a private room in the locked ward, and everything he or she would need would be provided. The uniform prescribed was fatigues, and several sets were issued to those who needed them-mostly the gender changees. One of the nurses also gathered the male to female subjects together to instruct them on the care of their new bodies, especially intimate matters they would need to know over the next three months and probably forever. Paychecks were deposited as they were issued, and all reasonable comforts were provided, such as television with Netflix. The drawback was that they were under almost constant observation, with rooms wired for sound, and they underwent an almost constant battery of tests. By this time, the appearance of enhanced powers among the changees was common knowledge, along with the anti-social tendencies of many also. Some of the soldiers in the observation ward had already demonstrated powers of one sort or another, such as the ability to phase, read minds, turn invisible or super speed. One female sergeant had turned green, with no other physical changes, but was totally invulnerable. She endured knife stabs, punches, hits with hammers, burns and even (in a non vital area) a round from an M-4 carbine, the standard service weapon. Jim, in addition to his change of gender, received limited telekinesis powers-he could move items up to about 50 pounds with his mind, and manipulate them rather dexterously from a range of about 30 feet. He could also levitate to a height of about 10 feet, fully clothed and and carrying the same 50 pounds. While these abilities could be useful to the army, it was doubtful that Jim would be allowed to remain in the rangers, though if he was allowed to continue in service, he would be allowed to wear the tab, wings and all the other insignia he had earned. But since he would not be in the 75th, he would no longer be authorized to wear the tan beret, though he could wear the maroon of a jump qualified trooper. Many women had earned it, so no matter what field he wound up in, it wouldn't stand out in any way. The ninety days passed slowly for most of the internees, though they were treated with the military courtesy according to their rank. For those who had experienced gender transformation, the terms 'sir' and 'maam' were not used-for the moment those personnel were addressed by rank, though gradually they became more and more accepting of their transformation, though some of the M2F had problems every four weeks or so, learning to deal with what every other woman had to since about age 12 or so. Jim was no exception to this, and as a ranger, he was well conversant with the full range of profanity available in the English language, and at those times employed it to the best of his ability. Eventually, their time of observation came close to an end. Some had been discharged as unsuitable, a few had even been placed in confinement for the public safety. Those who remained were offered the opportunity to remain in service, with all current ranks and places on the promotion list remaining intact. Many had been required to change career fields however. Jim Rand was one of those. A week before the observation period ended, her promotion to captain came through, with a date of rank as of the first of the current month, which is when her pay raise began. His remaining in a ground combat branch would be difficult for her (she had decided to use the appropriate pronouns as befitted her new body), and had also contacted the base legal office to begin the process or a name change. Given the number of such requests being filed, it was easily and quickly granted. New military identification was just as quickly issued, and Captain James William Rand became Captain Jamie Anne Rand, with orders cut for rotary wing (helicopter) training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Women had been allowed to become army aviators since the 1970s, so she wouldn't stand out at all, except for her rather senior rank. Most trainees were newly minted warrant officers in the grade W-1, some only a few months out of high school. Occasionally there was a 2nd Lieutenant from the academy or ROTC, but rarely anyone senior to that, though it wasn't unheard of. Jamie was discharged from the hospital and reported to the women's clothing issue office for a complete refitting of everything she would need, at which time she received her first introduction to that article of clothing known as a skirt, as several of the more formal uniforms required them. While on their shopping trip, Jen steered her into stores selling civilian clothing, which she would need for off time, she couldn't wear uniforms 24/7. Also Jen suggested a trip to Sephora for some basic makeup, which Jamie attempted to veto, though Jen convinced her that at least some was necessary, and she would look very out of place without it at times. That shopping trip was one of the longest and worst experiences of Jamie's life, but she realized she had to endure it. So she wound up with jeans and slacks, lots of tops including pullover and button down, several skirts including one in denim for informal, sweats, shoes, bathing suits and two dresses-a black one for formal and something suitable for civilian parties and such. Sephora provided a good basic kit for her face, eyes and lips, plus a nice perfume. By the time the girls were done, Jamie's raise for the next six months was gone, especially after purchasing a purse and some jewelry and of course, having her ears pierced. Jamie was really unsure about this whole female thing, but there really wasn't much she could do about it. Drivers licenses were also issued as a matter of course, so a few days later, Jamie said goodbye to her friend Jennifer, packed her new items in her car and began the drive from North Carolina to Alabama. It was easy enough-I95 south to I10 west and then some back roads. She pulled in a day before her actual reporting date, but chose to sign in early anyway. She reported in to the company first sergeant (in uniform with her shiny new bars attached) and was assigned a room in the student barracks. Generally, students were assigned two person rooms, but by virtue of her rank, Jamie Rand received a private one. Each single gender pod contained 6 rooms, four of them double with the two highest ranking having singles. Between the two singles was the bathroom with showers and other necessary items. Since the pods could be used for either gender, they did contain urinals which obviously weren't necessary for the current 10 occupants. Jamie found several of her suitemates were already checked in. The other single conained a first lieutenant who had expected to be the dorm chief, and 5 of the other girls (out of 8) were already there also. All of the others were newly appointed warrant officers, though most of them were experienced soldiers who had held sergeant or higher rank. One woman had been an MP sergeant first class (E-7) before being approved for flight school. She would actually be promoted to W-2 immediately upon graduating the course because of that. While they would have liked to get to know each other on a girl's night trip to town, regulations stated that they were restricted to base until they had reached phase 2. However, they were allowed to socialize on base. They all had the privileges of the officer's club, to which uniforms were required after 8, so they all climbed into class B uniforms with slacks (thank God, Jamie thought, though she did have to apply some makeup) and walked over to the club to relax for awhile. They couldn't actually sit in the bar because a few of the younger WOJGs (warrant officer, junior grade WO-1s) weren't 21 yet, and military regulations were firm on that, a situation that had changed in the latter part of the last century, when the drinking age had been changed from 18 except at a few bases close to the Merxican Border, since troops could simply cross the river and then attempt to drive back to base. But they could sit in the main recreation area, where there was actually a band playing, with typical results. A bevy of a few attractive young women sitting among a virtual hoard of male officers brought numerous dance invitations and offers of drinks for those legally able to partake of them. Naturally suggestions of a more personal nature were forthcoming also, though the proprieties of rank were observed here. Since there were very few officers of captain or higher in this portion of The Officers Club, Jamie wasn't propositioned ('Thank God' she thought). But she did spend a lot of time on the dance floor with one or another young officer, something she wasn't used to as a woman. What was particularly difficult for her was when the band segued unexpectedly from a fast rock number to 'Color my world', a vintage sing designed for close slow dancing in each other's arms. Jamie found herself for the first time hugging a man. She was unbelievably embarrassed at this, though she realized she shouldn't be, since as a woman, it was perfectly natural. So, she relaxed and tried to enjoy the experience. The girls did decide, however, to make an early night of it, since tomorrow was check in day, and the three experienced soldiers realized they would have a lot to do-physicals, issues, class assignments, lectures, and possibly even a tour of the airfield. Jamie was also sure that barring anything unexpected, by virtue of her captain's rank, she would be appointed class commander, and she might even outrank the class tactical officer, the person assigned to nursemaid the company through training, keep an eye on their progress, handle minor discipline, etc. This was most often a first lieutenant, the rank Jamie had been recently promoted from. That would make things interesting. She had also discovered that even though she had received minor powers, she had very little occasion to use them, mostly reaching items on top shelves and things like that. They had very little use in her normal life to this point. She didn't have much time for socializing during the several months long course, and really didn't have much to spend money on, and what she did, could be found reasonably cheaply at PX. It was sort of like a lower end department store, carrying some civilian clothing, a few military items (most could be found at the issue building), personal care items such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, drugstore brand cosmetics and perfumes (no higher end brands, women had to go off base to the mall for those), in other words just about every sort of mundane item. And at great prices. Everyone managed to save a lot of money, Jamie more than most due to higher pay grade. There was a base recreation center open to all ranks, plus they all had access to the officers club. While keeping in mind they were forbidden to drink while students, as there was a time limit before they could fly, a quite long one. No one wanted to be dismissed from the course because of that. Eventually, the course at the Army Aviation Center came to an end. For graduation, they were required to wear Class A Green Uniforms with all ribbons and qualification devices. Jamie was NOT looking forward to this directive, as there would be a lot of questions asked about her maroon beret, ranger tab, jump wings and Combat Infantry Badge (earned on a combat deployment to the Middle East, where there was always trouble). She also was wearing the ribbons for the Silver and Bronze Stars, plus a Purple Heart for being wounded. She was most likely the only woman in the army wearing all of these, especially the black and gold tab on her shoulder. Since the Event several months ago, it was common knowledge that many people had undergone various physical changes, including gender. Jamie's suitemates correctly surmised that she was one of them, and while they were curious, refrained from asking questions beyond what she chose to tell them. The other officer in the suite, though one grade junior, was a little bolder and privately asked her how she was dealing with her new gender, since she had done a good job of hiding it while they lived in such close quarters. It was also no secret when any of the women in the suite was 'under the weather' a little, and how she had handled it had helped to keep her secret. However, there wasn't time for an in depth conversation-they soon graduated with their new silver wings pinned on (Jamie's third, after her jump and parachutist wings ) and reported back to the barracks to remove their possessions and receive their orders for their first flying assignment. Jamie was hoping to eventually be assigned to the 187th special ops company, but that was years in the future. For now, she and her classmates would be assigned to a Initial Utilization tour, designed to teach them to fly in the field and build up their flight hours. Jamie was assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma for hers. Home of the artillery, so it was unlikely she would run into many people who had known her previously. This had actually been planned for by the personnel office-as had most of the other genderswapped troops. But they forgot one little thing. Jamie Rand, as James, was a graduate of West Point, and she had ordered a replacement ring in her new size, same class. There were several thousand other graduates from her years around the army, from three years before (when James had been a plebe) to her class, to three years after when James had been a First Class Cadet Captain/battalion commander. It was inevitable that a number of them would have been assigned to artillery, plus others in aviation, logistics, intelligence and other branches. And it was just as inevitable that a sizable amount of them would currently be assigned to Fort Sill, Oklahoma in one capacity or another. When Jamie got there, she reported in to the base headquarters, and from there to her aviation company's orderly room. And from there, over to the aviation platoon leader she was assigned to. Who was none other than one of her best friends at the academy, Captain (also newly promoted) Dave Carstairs. Who had heard the rumor (even though its large, the army is really a very small place, with numerous personal networks spreading out in all directions. Everyone from the academy pretty much knew someone who knew someone, etc.) that James Rand was one of the unfortunate few who had been involuntarily transformed into a woman. One who was now assigned to his platoon for an IUT. As soon as she walked into her PLs office to report, she of course recognized Dave, and blushed a deep crimson, considering some of their escapades off the reservation at the Point. Dave knew a lot about her as a male, and she knew just as much about him. The two of them, after dealing with military necessities, settled down for a long talk, largely dealing with Jamie's dealing with her new status. From highly trained commando to a somewhat smallish female. With a rather limited future in the army, most likely topping out as a Lieutenant Colonel at the highest, with a faint possibility of Colonel or Brigadier General. Very faint, though some women had achieved that and even more, but only a few. As a Ranger and Infantry officer, he could have almost counted on wearing stars someday, provided he didn't mess up. After settling in to a room at the BOQ, which was coed like at every other base in the army, she decided to take a tour of the base. She started at the airfield, especially the rotary wing section, then went on from there. She checked out the gym, PX, Officers Club (where she joined and paid prorated dues for the rest of the month) chapel and other areas she would need to frequent. She then went back to her room and showered and changed. Against her better judgement, she and Dave were going to the club for dinner and hitting the bar afterwards. They were NOT going into the main ballroom for dancing, both were absolutely certain of that-this was NOT a date. However, Class B or better uniforms for males, and uniforms or 'nice' dresses for women (even military women) were required. Jamie decided that she was going to wear civvies for this trip, just to try her new life out again. She chose one of her few dresses, a royal blue sheath, accented with gold jewelry and a pair of black three-inch heels (which she still wasn't used to, but she knew she had to learn). She spent time on her makeup, keeping it subtle, as she really wasn't all that good with it yet. But now that she was living in the world (not the closed community of a military training base) she might as well do her best to fit in with the female version of said world. So, makeup etc, was a necessity for a reasonably attractive young woman these days. Since she was wearing heels, she didn't feel like walking across the base, so she climbed into her car to the OC. In addition to her heels, another reason was that she was absolutely NOT going to allow Dave to pick her up in his car. She wanted to make sure he understood that this was just a meeting between friends, and not any sort of a date. Though dressed as she was, a lot of her fellow officers might look at the couple and see things differently. In addition, even though they were the same rank, and she was even senior to her friend by a few weeks, she was still on an IUT and he was her commanding officer because of that. Romantic relationships were against regulations because of their status, and he could be dismissed from service if that happened. They had to ensure that it didn't. For a lot of reasons. The night went nicely, with a nice bottle of red wine and wonderfully cooked entrees-a chicken dish for Jamie and Dave naturally ordering a steak. Several of Dave's friends came over at one time or another to say hello (and wangle an introduction to gorgeous blonde he was with) and were quite surprised to find out she was a captain and airborne qualified with a CIB, since she was in civvies. She smiled sweetly, but in a way calculated to dash all of their hopes. She did not invite him back to her BOQ room, nor did she kiss him goodnight, which at the moment would have been just too weird. She had absolutely no intention of becoming romantically involved with an academy classmate who was also currently her commanding officer. As a matter of fact, becoming sexually involved with any male was something she still wasn't considering. Not that she planned on going after other women either- even though homosexuality was officially condoned in the military she knew the unofficial feelings towards it. Currently she planned on remaining celebate. After mandatory orientation to the base, a class held for a week in company with several other officers from second lieutenant to her grade of captain, she was assigned her flying duties. Her first flight was a check ride conducted by her platoon leader and old friend to confirm she had the skills to fly a huey (utility helicopter) safely and most likely wouldn't kill herself and her passengers, if any. Even though he was a close friend, Dave Carstairs wouldn't pass her unless she really could fly. And Jamie Rand could-she had graduated that class, like West Point, infantry school and Ranger school at the top of her class. She was soon assigned to fly senior officers from Fort Sill to other bases, including Washington DC when they needed a ride. For some reason, those generals and colonels seemed more comfortable with a pilot who was a captain than one who was a class 2 or 3 warrant officer, even though those WO2s definitely had more experience than she did in the air. But a captain or major (her company commander) didn't say no to a major general (2 stars). She volunteered for many assignments, and rapidly built up her hours in the air. She was accumulating up to 20 hours a week during busy periods. She was hoping to break 600 hours by the end of the year. She didn't neglect her social life though, either. She had long since come to terms with the fact that she was a woman, and an extremely attractive one. While she was not going to settle down with any one man just yet, she had numerous dates with officers near her rank, captains and majors with an occasional WO3 (the warrant equivalent of captain, though she was extremely senior to him). Unless it was required, she never wore her uniform to these occasions, always appearing in a nice dress or slacks appropriate to the occasion, with perfect makeup (she'd improved in that regard) and often with polished nails. Skills she never thought she would have to develop, including the walking in three or four inch heels. She made it clear, however that actual sex was absolutely off the table, her career was already screwed up enough, and that certainly wouldn't help it, and an unplanned pregnancy would pretty much kill it. She did date Dave Carstairs on occasion, but not exclusively, as he was still technically her CO, for a few more months at least. Eventually her Initial tour was over, and she was up for reassignment to a position appropriate to her rank. That would probably be as a rotary wing platoon leader herself (aviation platoons were headed by captains, as the pilots were all officers), even with her generally low experience. In the early days of aviation, companies were often commanded by newly promoted majors right out of flight school. Slightly over a year after she was assigned to Sill, she received orders transferring her to Europe (EURCOM), seventh army aviation group as a platoon leader. This would be at least a three year tour. The days of giant troopships were over, the troops going overseas flew commercial air now. After a 30 day leave during which she went home to her parents to spend time with them. They had come to terms with the fact that their son was now their daughter, and Jamie's mother had the same hopes every mother of a daughter did-she wanted Jamie to get married and begin giving her grandchildren. Even though Jamie was pretty much acclimated by now, the thought of pregnancy and childbirth were not something she was considering, at least for the moment. Her leave was quite satisfactory for all of them. She spent time with her dad at various sporting events (she had always loved sports and still did), and enjoyed several shopping trips with her mom, and the two of them spent one afternoon at a spa. She also took her parents out for dinner at the Officer's Club at the local Air Force Base, which she had access to as a transient. She didn't have to wear a uniform there, but there was a dress code, and she wore a nice bright red knee length dress with black heels. Again, her hair, nails and makeup were impeccable, surprising her parents, since while they knew the whole story, Jamie gave no indication that she hadn't been female since birth. Again, in the main lounge, several of the officers present asked her to dance, and by now she was extremely comfortable accepting the invitations. She was still, however a virgin as a female, and planned on remaining that way for a very long time, if not forever. However, she was noticing that her hormones were kicking in, and had been for a very long time. It was becoming difficult to turn down some of the advances she had gotten, though there was still enough residual male experience and emotion that she was reluctant to enter a relationship with a man. On the appointed day, she grabbed her luggage (things she would need, both uniforms and civilian) and had her dad drive her to the airport, after making sure she had her orders and travel voucher. She reported to the area set aside for military travelers at the specified airline, showed her papers, and walked over to the officers section, where there were a few lieutenants, another captain and a major waiting. One of the lieutenants was female, so she instinctively slid into a seat next to her, where the two of them engaged in the usual chatter, punctuated with military references. Most of the others were confused about the insignia she was wearing, including her maroon beret, ranger tab, jump and pilots wings, and three rows of decorations including her silver and bronze stars, purple heart, combat zone deployment awards and Distinguished Service medal. The major in particular (he was really the only one who could ask) was curious as to how she had earned such an impressive display, and naturally she had to tell him that two years ago, she had been one of those affected by 'the Event'. By this time, it was no big deal in society, as everyone knew at least one person who had been affected, and those who had been gender swapped were fully accepted as their new persona. At most, for a former ranger like Jamie it was still embarrassing. But no one treated her as anything but the woman she now was. She and Sharon Butler (the LT she was sitting with) found they were on the way to becoming friends, and hoped that they would be assigned near each other. Sharon was assigned to the Brigade HQ company where she was assigned as Officer in Charge of a detachment of clerks assigned to keep the unit running smoothly. It was a three year tour for both of then, at the end of which Sharon should have been promoted to Captain and Jamie should at least have a line number for her promotion to Major, though probably not the promotion itself just yet. She did notice that she was accepting more and more dates with other officers in her unit, though she was still resisting sleeping with any of them, which was odd given that it was the mid 21st century, and casual sex was quite commonplace. As long as she didn't sleep with a direct subordinate, or a superior officer didn't sleep with HER, regulations allowed fraternization. Even if Sharon and her had been attracted to each other, it would have been acceptable for them since roughly 2021. Due to their different schedules, and Jamie travelling all over Europe, they didn't see each other that often, but they did try to take leaves together and tour the sights in Europe, such as Paris, Rome and a few other cities. The tour went exactly as they envisioned, with advancement as scheduled. After three years they were separated, with Jamie going to Rucker as an instructor and Sharon going to Fort Dix, NJ-a three service joint base. Two years into her tour as an instructor she did receive her promotion to major, and eventually command of an aviation company herself. By this time she had roughly 11 years of service, and was only 9 away from retirement. She did make Lieutenant Colonel, and was assigned to the 187th special ops aviation company for a while as its commander, and she did decide to retire at that point. She did fall in love with a pilot of her same grade, and the two retired together and married in their early 40s, she figured she might as well accept her new status since it didn't seem she would be changed back any time soon. Her minor super power really didn't come into play much during her career, mostly just aid in moving things to a top shelf and such. Her life was much more satisfying than she had originally thought it would be. She never had children due to her age, but did find a job as a commercial pilot for a few years until she was too old to pass the flight physical. None of the children of any of those affected by the event ever showed powers, so after 80 or so years Earth's experiment with super beings came to a close, to the relief of all concerned.
