It seems like it took at least a month from the time of Cathy's death for the link we shared to evolve to the point that we could communicate directly with each other at will during the day. I really don't recall exactly how long it took for I suppose you could say I lost track of time and I was out of touch with the world around me. I was going through the motions of living without being fully aware of what I was doing. The only thing that kept me even slightly in touch with reality was the dreams that I had at night. In those dreams, I was able to communicate with Cathy and I think that kept me sane; although my believing that I was communicating with a dead person made me doubt my sanity.

Once our link was again fully functional, Cathy and I caught up on what had happened to us since her death. She explained that a person's spirit (soul?) was placed in a dimension by a superior life form to learn a series of lessons. Once those lessons were learned, the person's spirit (soul?) was elevated to the next dimension, and the process would start again. It made sense when she explained the different dimensions and how we moved through the dimensions. The problem I had was that I believed her, and what she told me seemed to contradict what I had been taught in church about God and Heaven.

I had been raised in the Protestant faith. The intensity of my beliefs had declined over the years, but I still believed in God, Jesus, and Heaven. What Cathy told me about life after death was different from what I had been taught in church. I believed what Cathy told me for the Guidance Council believed it was necessary for her to remember her life on Earth, which is in the Third Dimension; especially those things that happened between us before her death and her elevation to the Fourth Dimension.

I had trouble rationalizing my belief in God and Heaven with what I knew about Cathy's experiences. It took a while, but I was finally able to do so. I realized that the conflict was caused by the way that I perceived what I had been taught about God and the reality of what Cathy told me.

Cathy acknowledged that no one knew how many dimensions there were and what the highest dimension was like. Since the people of the Fourth Dimension have no knowledge of the dimensions above the Fifth Dimension, then heaven might be the highest dimension. If Heaven is the highest dimension, then it is the place where God and the souls of those people who have died in the past reside. I'm not comfortable with that rationalization, but it is the only way I can reconcile my belief in God with the reality of Cathy's new existence and knowledge.

Even parts of the Bible seem to support Cathy's description of the dimensions. For example, the Bible contains many parables from which we are to learn lessons that will make us better Christians. It made sense to me that God would devise an environment that would help us to learn what we needed to learn to ascend to Heaven. With that in mind, why shouldn't I believe that God created the dimensions, defined the lessons we needed to learn as we ascended through the various levels to Heaven, and provided advisors to aid and guide us on our journey. After all, doesn't the Bible contain passages that describe God providing us with similar guidance?

In fact, to me it made more sense than having to learn everything in one lifetime and then only go to heaven, if we were successful in learning and practicing our lessons in Christianity. When I consider my fellow man, I can see many people that would benefit from living multiple lives in a single dimension for what they demonstrated in the life they were living here on Earth wasn't going to get them into Heaven.

It was about a week after our link had reestablished itself that Cathy started taking control of my life as she had when we were together. I don't mean that in a negative way for there are many aspects of my life in which I needed help, so I had been glad to have Cathy steer me in the right direction.

"Jim, it's time for you to get your personal life in order. You have let yourself and everything around you go to pot. You stopped exercising, started eating nothing but junk food, don't talk with any of our friends, and have basically closed yourself off from the world by remaining in our apartment.

"It is time for you to accept that I'm gone and not coming back. I want you to start living life again. You made a deal with the Guidance Council to support their mission, and you aren't going to succeed, if you continue in the way you are going. I want you in the Fourth Dimension with me buster, so we need to get you back on track.

"The Guidance Council needs for you to be fit and healthy in order to do the things necessary to complete your part of the bargain. Beginning today, you will start exercising again and you will stop eating junk food. You will clean up this apartment and keep it clean, and that includes doing laundry at least once a week.

"We will work together to formulate the plan for completing the Tasks, and we will devise an organizational structure for your Inner Council and Action Group."

"Alright Cathy, but isn't it more important for me to start developing the finances that we will need for supporting the tasks. It seems to me that that will take far longer to do than putting several plans together. We could do the planning when I am not busy with the financial side of things."

"You are correct in what you say Jim. The main thing you didn't consider is you need a clear picture of how much money you will need and where it is to be spent. The Guidance Council said that moving large sums of money from one country to another would cause the governments to focus on your activities, which is what we do not want them to do. The council believes that it will be better for you to earn the money in the countries where you will be spending it. In order to do that you will need to know what countries you will be operating in when working on the tasks."

"Yeah, that makes sense. So what part of the planning do you think we should do first Cathy?"

"I suspect that we will have to define an initial plan for each task, and then periodically revise them for changes caused by the other plans and the activities that we will be engaged in. After all, they say no plan survives engagement with the enemy, and I think that will apply to our planning. To me the easiest and most important item to plan is the structure of the Inner Council and Action Group. I suspect that structure will have a major effect on how you go about accomplishing the four tasks."

"I've never planned anything this large and complex Cathy. Did the Guidance Council give you any advice on how to go about putting a plan together?"

"Well not exactly. I talked with Jan who is my Guidance Council representative about the planning that we would be doing. She is one of the people who monitor Earth and is familiar with the ways that the people of Earth do things. She told me that software designers on Earth use what they call a 'Top Down, Bottom Up' approach to design a software program. She felt that we should use a similar approach. Are you familiar with it?"

"Yes I learned about that approach when I worked for your mom. What it means is that you design how a program is to operate from the top modules that call the executable modules down to the smallest executable module. Then you start coding the lower modules and work up to the top control modules.

"Your mom said that if you jumped straight into coding, it was easy to get lost in the logic of the program and lose sight of what you are doing. She said that you needed to define what each module was to do and how it would do it. When the design was done, you could see how the program would work. The coding of the modules would then be easy to do for you knew exactly what the code for each module had to do and how it had to function."

"Good, how do you think we can apply that to designing the structure of the Inner Council and Action Group?"

"I will have to think about that for a while Cathy. I have been thinking about the four tasks and it seems as if each of them is going to be a major effort. That implies that we will need a large number of Action Group members to work on the four tasks. It seems that as they work on the task, things will change and we will have to change our plans accordingly. That implies to me that we will need a permanent planning group for each task and the planning groups will have to communicate with each other.

"During the early part of our effort, we shouldn't have to worry too much about security. I don't think the governments will take too much notice of us until we start Task 1. They won't care about our getting some legislation passed and our cleaning up the entertainment business. When we start taking control of governments, that is when they will focus on us and that is when we will need to implement security measures. Just to get into the habit of creating a secure organization and using good communication security practices, I think we should maximize security on all of our efforts."

"Isn't that going a bit far Jim? We won't need that type of security for most of what we do. Why should we burden ourselves with restrictions we don't need?"

"I can see what you are saying Cathy. However, I think we need to get in the habit of using good security procedures and practices. Then we will have the procedures and habits in place when we need them. It will take a long time to develop good security habits and practices. When we first start, we will make mistakes and I would prefer our making mistakes in security when it doesn't matter, so we can correct our security guidelines, rather than make a mistake when it does matter.

"I can see that Jim. It's like any other habit that a person forms; good habits lead to good behavior and bad habits get you into trouble. But what does security have to do with the structure and function of our organization?"

"I was thinking that we may want to organize the Inner Council and Action Group using a cell structure. I believe that Task 1 should definitely use a cell structure. So to make it easier on us, let's use the same general type of structure for all four tasks.

"I have also given some thought to the Action Group. My original thought was to organize it as one group. I was thinking of it as sort of a labor pool that we could draw on for whatever we needed help with. However, the more I considered it, the less workable it seemed. The four tasks are all different, so for each task, we will need people who want to work on that type of activity. If we used the labor pool concept, we might pick someone who has no knowledge of or interest in doing a particular activity. That could be a disaster. It could also cause problems if a single person was identified as working on multiple tasks. I now believe that we will need to recruit a dedicated Action Group for each task.

"It would be nice to be able to use these Action Groups to support more than one task. I'm afraid that if we were to do that then someone might realize that a single group is responsible for all four tasks. That would undoubtedly place the word 'plot' in the minds of the government types, and that would be bad for us. Therefore, for operational security, I think we need to keep the activities and members of the different Action Groups separate."

"I have to agree Jim that drawing government attention to our activities will be a bad thing. It will happen eventually, but the longer we stay off their radar the better. If we structure our organization properly we won't draw undo interest until after we go active on Task 1 and even then it may take them a long time to realize it is an organized plot aimed at all governments.

"I would say that the organization of the individual Action Groups will be determined by the way the respective task is executed. However, since we will have four groups, it is logical to have each group guided by a member of the Inner Council. When I think of the immensity of each task, I can't see one person doing all of the control and planning activities."

"I agree Cathy, and that is why I am thinking of setting up the Inner Council using a cell structure. Since each cell will control a single task, I have been thinking of them as Task Cells. I think the leader of each Task Cell will be responsible for a single task, and I think the leaders of the Task Cells should be allowed the option of how their cells and Action Groups are organized. That way we can structure each cell to fit the task it is performing."

"You're right Jim. In order to be effective a single person should be responsible for the task, and they need to be in total control of the task's planning and activities. We will also need someone in charge of the overall mission, and that should be you, since you agreed to do the mission for the Guidance Council. Have you given any consideration to how you are going to stay in touch with everything that will be going on with the tasks?"

"Well I have been sort of designing the structure as I go. I haven't had a chance to really focus on the structure's details for overall management yet. However, at the moment, it seems like I should have a single cell for Mission Management. We can call it the Mission Control Cell. I am not sure if the individuals in charge of the Task Cells should report to the Mission Control Cell or be members of that cell. I think they should be aware of what is happening with the other tasks so they don't interfere with each other's activities. That implies that they be members of the Mission Control Cell. I think the Mission Control Cell should be kept small, so it would be more efficient if I were in charge of the Mission Control Cell and also controlled a Task Cell. If the leader of each Task Cell is a member of the Mission Control Cell then it would need to have at least four members. As a Task Cell leader, I will need people to support my cell's activities in managing its Action Group, so the Task Cell will need additional members and it makes sense to have these people provide input into the planning of the respective cell's mission.

"It seems like I was jumping around there, did what I say make sense to you?"

"Sort of, if I understand your concept Jim, the Inner Council will have five cells, and four of those cells will report to the fifth cell. The fifth cell will provide oversight of the mission while the remaining four cells will each control one of the four tasks. Each Task Cell will be responsible for planning its task and controlling its Action Group. So the Action Group that we originally envisioned will be divided into four autonomous groups, one for each task, and they will be isolated from each other. The manner in which the Task Cell executes the task will determine its structure and the structure of its respective Action Group. Is that right?"

"Yes, that is what I am currently thinking of putting in place."

"Good, I just wanted to be sure that I understand what you intend to do for I need to brief the Guidance Council and they will undoubtedly have questions. One of the questions they will probably ask is how close you will monitor the actions of the Task Cells and Action Groups."

"I'm not sure. I suspect that I will be too busy with things to micromanage my Task Cell Leaders. I will probably rely on their status reports, and only become involved if they have a problem."

"What about changes to the four plans that the Guidance Council gave you?"

"So far I am in the process of trying to break their objectives and general guidance down to specific topics and actions.

"For example, the plan for Task 1 is for me to pick a country, destabilize its government, take the government over, restructure it, and then repeat the process for the remaining countries. There are no criteria for selecting the first country and the order of the subsequent countries. Destabilizing a country's government can be a very difficult thing to do. Telling me I am to do it, doesn't address how to do it, and what will work for one country, will not work for every country. The steps of the task in another country will also need a detailed plan. About the only thing that will be even close to standard from one country to another is what I put in place as the new government structure, but even that will vary according to the needs of the country."

"I can see your problem Jim; I passed the plans on to you without really giving them any consideration and without envisioning how to execute them. Do you plan on starting all of the tasks at once or focusing on one task first?"

"My original thought was to start Task 1 first for it is the most difficult and will take the longest amount of time to complete. However, as I was considering the outcomes of the four tasks, I realized that the legislation of Task 2 might help us in what we will need to do for Tasks 1 and 3.

"I'm planning on being Task 2's Cell Leader. If I select the right group of people for my cell, then once the task is in progress, I can turn it over to the other members of the Task Cell and place the majority of my focus on finances and overall management."

"I like what I am hearing of your plans Jim and I think the Guidance Council will agree with your approach. What were you thinking of for financing the group?"

"Well to start with, my investments could be moved to highly lucrative companies. My projections show me that the money to be made in that way is only a small amount of the total amount of money that I will need for the mission. As you know, the Guidance Council offered to provide alien technology to me that I could produce and sell. So far, they haven't done so, but I also have to admit that I'm not ready for what they will give me. I think that I will need a great deal of engineering knowledge to take what they give me and turn it into something that the people of this planet can use. My first step in developing an income source seems to be acquisition of the knowledge necessary for me to understand what I am given.

"Cathy, would you check with the council and see what you can find out about the technology they are willing to share, and you could ask if there is any way that they could down load the knowledge that I need to know. Maybe they can provide a tutor that could work with me through our link.

"I'm tired and need a break Cathy. Let's set this aside for now and begin again tomorrow. While you check with the council, I'm going to have dinner and go to bed."

"Alright Jim, but there is one more topic we need to discuss tonight. You need a new woman in your life to take care of you and your home. It really bothers me to have you sleeping in that big bed all by yourself."

I should have known where Cathy was taking our conversation. The council's plan had four tasks. When I found out what the four tasks were, I knew I couldn't complete the tasks in my lifetime. After blowing off some steam about stupid people expecting the impossible, Cathy told me the council knew I could not complete their plan within my lifetime. They considered my portion of the plan to be: 1) the plan's initial start-up activities, 2) the creation of an Organizational Structure that would execute the plan, and 3) the creation of a source of funding for the plan.

My main objection to the plan was the manner in which they wanted me to create the Organizational Structure. Their structure was to be a two-tier organization: a core group and an operational group. The core group was to manage execution of the plan, and guide the operational group in completing the plan. I thought of this core group as my Inner Council. The operational group was to be the hands-on group, which I thought of as my Action Group. I was to recruit the Action Group's members from the people of Earth that met certain criteria. This seemed reasonable for the council would guide me to the key people I needed to enlist and assist me with the plan.

The creation of my Inner Council was my main concern. The Guidance Council wanted me to enlist women as the initial members of the Inner Council. They wanted me to establish personal relationships with all of these women, and father the children who would become the next generation of the council. This was their plan for creating the next generation of the Inner Council. I was to father children, raise and train them to become Inner Council members, and transition them into the group as they became qualified to perform their duties.

Now don't take my objection the wrong way. I didn't object to remarrying. I have no problems with having sex with multiple women. I do not have a problem with becoming a father. However, I do not see myself providing stud service to a herd of mares, and polygamy is illegal.

Furthermore, the relationship necessary for raising the children, which would result from my impregnating multiple women, would draw a great deal of interest to me. I believed it was necessary for me to maintain a low profile in order to hide my abilities and meet the goals of the plan. That number of wives and kids would be anything but low profile.

Well, I guess I was wrong for Cathy explained to me that yes, it was necessary for me to keep a low profile concerning my abilities. However, the council believed it was necessary for me to become a high profile individual to accomplish their plan.

Now at first glance that seemed to me to be a 'Catch 22' situation. The council gives me a set of abilities to use in accomplishing their plan. They expect me to use the abilities with the world watching me closely without allowing the world to become aware that I have these abilities. Cathy assured me the situation was not as bad as I perceived it to be, and everything would work out okay. I accepted that for I trusted Cathy, and no, I don't want to buy a bridge.

I was somewhat agreeable up to that point, but as I was cooking my dinner, Cathy dropped the next bombshell in my lap.

"Jim, the council has decided who your first woman should be and they are giving her the abilities I had when I died.

"They feel that your secretary Samantha will be ideal for you."

Yes, the council picked Sam, Frank's former secretary, to be the first of my harem. Cathy knew how to sucker me into a relationship with Sam. She told me Sam thought the dreams she was having meant she was going crazy. Naturally, I mounted my white charger to ride to Sam's aid. Well metaphorically, that is what I did. My first date with Sam had been to explain what was happening to her, so she wouldn't think she was going crazy. However, we ended up in bed together that night. The sex was memorable for Cathy had suppressed Sam's inhibitions and had left her with a desire to be my mate and create a harem for me. As we drifted off to sleep that first night, I heard Sam whisper, "Jim have I ever mentioned my friend Mary to you, you'd like her."

The next day, I briefly explained to Sam the mission tasks that I had agreed to work on for the Guidance Council. I numbered each of the four tasks that I would complete for the council as:

Task 1 - correct the factors that are preventing people from serving their fellow beings.

Task 2 - correct the factors that cause people to violate the privacy of others.

Task 3 - correct the factors that cause people to be poor role models for their fellow beings.

Task 4 - create a goal that motivates the people of Earth to work together.

I started to explain the organizational structure that I needed to build, but Sam stopped me. She said, "Cathy explained the mission and organizational structure to me last night. Cathy also told me how we will finance the organization and the mission."

Sam had surprised me, I said, "I'm glad that I don't have to explain all of that to you. I'm not clear on everything we need to do and I am not sure how to go about doing it yet. In fact, I'm not sure how to begin."

"Don't worry Jim. Cathy told me that she and the Guidance Council would be there for us when we needed them. She also made it clear to me that I needed to push you to take on additional women. She said you wanted a monogamous relationship with one woman. So tell me Jim, how do you plan to create the next generation of the Inner Council, with just one woman? I certainly cannot give birth to the number of children that we will need. Even if I could, they would be spread over too large of an age range. You will need a large number of children of about the same age."

"Well, I'm still getting used to the idea of what I agreed to do. I haven't had time to think things like that through yet."

"Jim, when Cathy told me I should be your first wife, she also told me that I should take charge of recruiting the right types of women for you. She loves you very much and wants the best for you.

"Cathy and I discussed my friend Mary. We both think that she will be perfect as your second wife. I am going to invite her to meet me at our favorite restaurant for dinner. I just won't tell her that you will be there also. Cathy will monitor Mary's thoughts this evening. She will know if Mary is right for you, and if so, Cathy and I will recruit Mary as the second member of your harem. Don't worry about it Jim, Cathy and I will take care of you and aid you in completing the mission."

"But ... but I want to pick my own women. I don't think that I need help in that area. Besides polygamy is illegal, so I can't marry everyone and marrying just you would be unfair to the others."

"Jim, Cathy knows you better than you know yourself. She said that she had to trap you into helping me, and if she hadn't, you would still be figuring out how to ask a woman out on a date. Just relax and let Cathy and me take care of that area, and remember, you do have the final say in whether a woman is right for you.

"As far as marriage is concerned, you are right about polygamy and the unfairness of marrying just me. Cathy and I decided your women would just live with you and use your last name. We both feel that it is the relationship that we create amongst ourselves that is important, not some ritualistic ceremony.

"Jim, as much as I like having this discussion with you, we need to get dressed and get going or we will be very late getting to the office this morning. Cathy told me that there were a few investment changes that you need to make as soon as possible."

On the way into work, I said, "Sam, from what I remember of our conversations last night and this morning, you are moving in with me. Have you given any thought as to how we are going to consolidate our households?"

"I was thinking that after work today, you and I should go over to my place, so I can pick up several changes of clothing, makeup, and other necessities. I have a few items that are very important to me personally that I want to keep. While we are there, we can decide what furniture, linens, and dishes to keep and what I should sell or donate. This weekend, we will move the items I want to keep into your house."

As we talked, Cathy joined us in a link. Driving while linked is not safe, so I told her I was driving and would contact her when Sam and I were in the office. Once I parked the car, Sam and I caught the elevator to our floor and went into our office. Sam dropped her things off at her desk and checked for messages. Then she joined me in my office.

"Okay Cathy, we can talk now."

Over the link, Cathy said, "Good morning Jim, I missed you after last night. I enjoyed the second hand feeling of cuddling with you last night. Oh god, how I've missed that and the sex was good too."

"I can understand that Cathy for I have missed cuddling with you also. I told Sam that I could sense you with us last night and we are happy for you. I didn't realize you could get anything out of our sexual passion.

"Sam said something about investment changes this morning. What was that about?"

"Well, second hand passion isn't as good as sex, but it did get me aroused and I finished myself off later. The main reason I contacted you this morning is the Guidance Council decided to aid you by reviewing your financial holdings so you could maximize your earnings. I actually suggested it to them and they took it on as their idea. They haven't finished their review yet, but they have a recommendation for three of the stocks you own.

"C&J Metals is one of the companies you own stock in and it is in trouble financially due to bad business decisions. This isn't public knowledge yet, and they project that the company will be bankrupt within ten months. The stock is starting what will be a gradual decline before the final drop. The Guidance Council recommends that you sell this stock immediately.

"In the second company, Sam's Smelter, their accountant made a major bookkeeping error last night that makes it look like the company is in serious trouble. He left for a vacation in Hawaii this morning, and the council believes that the investors will hear that the company is in financial trouble before he returns and discovers the error. The council believes this news will create panic selling of the stock in about two days, which will cause a severe drop in its price. Once the accountant corrects his error, the price should rapidly recover and stabilize at its current level. According to the council, the company is very solid and has a great growth potential. They said you should sell your stock immediately and when the stock bottoms out, use your proceeds to buy back as much stock as you can. They said the price would drop in the near future and only remain low for a short time, so you need to sell your stock now. They want you to keep your proceeds from selling the C&J Metals and Sam's Smelter stock available, since the stock's price will be low for only a day or two, and you will need the proceeds to immediately buy back your stock when the Guidance Council tells you to do so.
