"That reminds me," I responded. "Wear a dress or skirt with your heels. I bet you have nice looking legs." I spun around and walked away. My guess was that Gayle was finally at her limit for one training session and I shouldn't push it. I'd see the very next day if she took to any of it.
You're probably wondering why I go after married women when I shy away from girls with boyfriends. It's really fundamental. Anyway, I had to meet Laura at Veronica's. She told her mom she was going to study with Veronica but it was really so she could continue to be corrupted. "How did you guess?" Gayle said with a hint of a smile. I smiled back and headed to class. This wouldn't be the end of it. Like I said, I was making progress. To keep my momentum I had to keep the pressure on so I was back again after school. This time I happened to see her walking out of a rear storage area pushing a cartload of books.

"My boss is beginning to notice you hanging around. You don't want me to get fired, do you?"
"Of course not," I replied. I noticed she still ignored my not too veiled suggestion that we meet elsewhere. I was about to make a more lewd suggestion when the esteemed librarian stepped out of the same door.
"I see your young admirer is here again," he said. "Be careful, young man. We might put you to work if you keep showing up." The man chuckled while Gayle blushed but I was already thinking about what he said.
"I haven't started my volunteer work yet," I replied. "If you need help I'd be glad to volunteer in the library." As part of graduation requirements students have to volunteer 100 hours during our four years here. Most students do it off-campus and some don't even start until their senior year. Then they panic. I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to work closely with Gayle.
"We usually use seniors who need the hours," said Gayle. "This boy isn't a senior."
"They won't be coming around until next semester," the man replied. "In the meantime we have a real backlog of work. Why don't we show him what we're doing in here?" He pointed to the door they'd come out of and we followed him back inside while Gayle eyed me warily. Mr. Shaw, the librarian, gave me a handout and said, "Study this. We just received a grant to buy some new books and some of our existing collection will be pulled and archived. Others will be taken out of the collection completely. Mrs. Kramer will train you and can answer any questions you might have. You can start whenever you're ready." He turned around and walked out the door. Gayle started to follow him but I blocked her path.
"May I ask you a quick question?"
"Not here," she hissed. "Please don't start anything." The bitch looked very vulnerable at that moment and I could have started something. Mr. Shaw had disappeared and I was between her and the still open door so she was slightly hidden. Still, there were voices just outside the door and I didn't want to take that kind of chance.
"Okay," I replied, "but just this once." I smiled and stepped out of her way. She blinked a couple of times as if trying to decipher what I just said. She started to speak and then changed her mind and walked past me.
