If you’re a regular consumer of their titles, you probably already know why I’m so eager to get inside, though I don’t think it’ll take long for the newbies to catch on either. TownOfSins.com has been live for a while now, but I wanted to let it age a bit before I dropped a review. Many porn games are released in an incomplete state, so I just wanted to be sure there was plenty of content available when I played. It’s a free-to-play adult card game with a pornographic theme, and you know what? I think today’s a great day to lube up and see how much fun it is to play this game. Hop in. What’s Going on in this Town of Sins?
Before I get into it, I want to talk about Hooligaps a little bit. The name of the company isn’t half as well-known as some of their games, so there’s a good chance you’ve already played some without even knowing. Cunt Wars, Cunt Empire, and Fap Titans are just a few of the ones I’ve reviewed here at ThePornDude, and I’ve reviewed even more of them over at BestPornGames. I’ll save you a couple of clicks, though, and tell you their offerings regularly make it into the top twenty. Cunt Wars has actually held the #2 slot for a while now.
Well, since TownOfSins is produced by Hooligaps, I immediately had some high hopes for the game. I expected the gameplay to be solid and engaging, the artwork to be professional and fapworthy, and the gacha system to be truly optional. One of my biggest pet peeves is free-to-play porn games where you’re basically blocked from progressing unless you break out the credit card. However, in my experience with their games so far, Hooligaps has been fair about that.
I pointed my browser at TownOfSins.com, and off I went with that in mind. The initial load time was damn near-instantaneous, so I was immediately treated to a Welcome screen with precisely the type of high-quality, sexy art I expected from Hooligaps. A red convertible is pulled over on the side of a desert road, a couple of naked babes sprawled across the back, and a few more women in the seats. There’s a thought bubble above the dude in the driver’s seat, expressing his absolute confusion about where he is and who these skanks are.
Clicking through the dialog, the dude and naked ladies wonder aloud where they are and declare their need for yet more booze. TownOfSins already seems like my kind of place before they pull up and start chatting with a pregnant lady who’s freaked out by their sexy appearance. “It would seem that if we want entertainment in this town,” muses the redhead in the passenger seat, “we’re going to need to build a casino and train some hoes.”
How to Train Some Hoes
A lot of these games have some cute, topless warrior princess or something to help guide you through the gameplay and figure out what you’re doing. TownOfSins.com offers a similar tutorial, but your instructor today is going to be an anthropomorphic purple dildo with angel wings. “Together, we will pervert the hell out of these prudes,” he says. The dildo gives you a few cards to conquer and defile the townsfolk with, each card being either a girl or an item. I’m not sure how lucky I am just yet, but I do like my initial draw: I’ve got a boner statue, a latex suit, a strict teacher, and a comic fangirl with pigtails cleavage, and a schoolgirl skirt. The next thing I know, I’m having a card battle with that pregnant chick.
The basic mechanics of TownOfSins are simple, fast, and immediately engaging. You play a card, your opponent plays one, and you knock off their hit points by playing the right cards with the right numbers at the right moments. Cards can be stacked to create powerful combos, as when I put the latex suit on the comic book chick.
I’m not even sure it took a whole minute for the battle to play out, but it was fun, and I won. Next, the dildo led me to another battle while explaining how energy is replenished. I think the difficulty was a little higher for the second fight, but I’m a quick learner. I combined the suicide angel with a mask, which created a card called Fucked Out with a much dirtier image. Fucked Out turned out to be a bomb I could use against the enemy, crushing that shit. Five minutes into the game, I was already getting hooked.
Is Town of Sins Really Free?
Like any card game, adult-oriented or otherwise, TownOfSins is all about deck building in between the fights. The purple dildo guides you through the different ways to upgrade your cards and get new ones. Combining cards is one of the easiest ways to improve your stats, and the combos are permanent if done from the right areas of the menu screen. For example, I had a few duplicate ballerina cards, which I could turn into a more powerful ballerina.
It wasn’t long before I was introduced to the concept of Whore Boxes, where I could win more random Town of Sins cards. If the term “free-to-play” makes you cringe, you were probably wondering when I would bring up the monetization. Town of Sins does load you up with a fair amount of in-game currency, gems, and hearts, and you’ll be spending them to unlock things or help move things along quicker. After winning some boxes in battle, for example, I had the option of waiting for them to open for free or spending points to make it happen. I could also spend to buy Whore Boxes without the battles.
That said, the gacha does seem to be entirely optional. And that’s a big deal for me in a free-to-play game because it means it really is free to play. I played the game for a good long while and never reached a point where I felt like I was stuck if I didn’t want to pay. In fact, I spent a lot of time playing without even signing up for an account, and I appreciate that they allow that. Then again, it may all be a ploy to hook you on the gameplay and sexy naked cartoon bitches.
The learning curve is nice and steady, easing you into more challenging battles as you progress. You’ll trounce your opponents in the beginning and only slowly notice the challenge is getting harder and harder. I think that helps keep the game accessible and more addictive, which you’ll see as a good thing or a bad thing. I guess it all depends on how much productive time you’re wasting and how bad you feel about it. (Better not tell your boss that you’re playing on company time or that you got sperm on the keyboard.)
If I have one complaint, it’s that tutorial comes on a little hard and fast. While the basics are easy to get the hang of, there are a lot of details that can get a bit confusing. For example, I thought I understood the various ways of upgrading cards, but then I had to dig into the Help section a little to refresh myself on fusing cards. Fortunately, I didn’t run into any issues that slowed me down too much or made me want to quit playing.
It looks like we’ve got another winner from Hooligaps. Add TownOfSins.com to their ever-growing collection of hits, alongside Fap Titans, SmutStone, and the rest. The designers have a real knack for creating games that are actually fun to play, not just some half-ass bullshit with boobies thrown in. With artwork good enough to masturbate to and a free-to-play system that’s genuinely free to play, I think I’m going to have both hands busy for a while.
