As expected the next week had been busier than fun, and the week after that, lonely. Amy had dropped off the radar while in London, and she didn’t get to talk with her much, aside from the occasional text messages sent back and fro every few days until she got back. Fortunately, the week after that was awesome, Jack had finished the project early, and was able to come and visit her! Amy stayed out of the way, knowing that there was a lot of sexual frustration that needed to be dealt with.
Jack had returned to Switzerland, and a few weeks later, Amanda really didn’t feel well. It was bad enough for her to go and see her doctor. He drew some blood and had it send for testing. It took several long and agonizing days to hear any news about it. When she finally got the phone call, she learned that she had contracted an STD. But how? The only person she had sex with was Jack…that’s when she realized it, he had given it to her. The only way he could have contracted it is if he had…Oh my God! Amanda was crushed. Jack had cheated on her while in Europe, and had given her an infection. She was furious. Amanda barely made it to the pharmacy to pick up her antibiotics and back home without breaking down in tears once again. After several attempts at reading the prescription bottle through her tear-soaked, and blurry eyes. Two weeks of these pills, and she’d be rid of it.
As soon as she got home from the pharmacy, she called him, and confronted him. Jack was very apologetic, though it was futile.
Jack: ‘I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it, I really didn’t mean for anything to happen.’
Amanda: ‘You’re so dead! I can’t believe you cheated on me! I also can’t believe you got me sick!
Jack: ‘I’m sorry, I should have worn a condom, I figured she would be safe. I didn’t know she had anything.’
Amanda: ‘You son of a bitch! Who was it? Who did you fuck?’
Jack: ‘Amy.’
Amanda: ‘WHAT?! My friend Amy?’
Jack: ‘Yes.’
Everything started to make sense, Amy had gone to London for two weeks, and had dropped off the side of the world. She had probably taken a flight to Switzerland, fucked Jack, and snuck back home, thinking it was the perfect crime. It very well could have been, if it hadn’t been for the infection that had made its way from Amy to her.
Amanda: ‘That backstabbing whore! I’m going to kill her!’
Jack: ‘I’m so sorry.’
Amanda: ‘I don’t care if you’re sorry. I never want to hear from you again! I’m going to make sure that you pay for this!’
Jack:’I wouldn’t do that if I was you.’
Amanda:’Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t.’
Jack:’It would be a shame if those pictures you sent me got out.’
Amanda:’Don’t try that shit with me, I know you’re not dumb enough to try something like that.’
Jack:’You’ll see.’
Jack hung up on her, and sure enough, within 15 minutes, Amanda received an email in her inbox from Jack, it having also been sent it out to all of her friends, family, and co-workers. Amanda couldn’t believe what had just happened. She was ruined! That fucker had just ruined her completely within seconds! She knew sending him those pictures were a stupid idea, and this was why. Amanda started to sob, and then cry. Her career was over, her family would definitely be kicking her out to the street once they were through with yelling at her, and she’d probably end up losing her job too. To top it all off, she got an STD out of all this.
The email was sent, there was no undoing that. Just when Amanda thought there was no way out of this, she realized that she had one saving point, none of those pictures actually showed her face, and no one but Jack actually knew what she looked like naked.
Over the next week, the denial and shock campaign started. Amanda acted as legitimately shocked as possible with anyone that mentioned them, and intentional laughed about his attempts to distract away from his infidelity. Everyone believed her, not only because she was so convincing, but mostly because many people had pointed out that Jack was a graphic artist, he could have easily faked them. Amanda hadn’t thought of that. It was completely believable.
The harder Jack tried to convinced people that the pictures were of Amanda, the less people believed him, he even ended up losing his job over it. Karma’s a bitch.
Having dealt with Jack, and the ensuing slander war, Amanda turned her attention to Amy, having been the cause of all of this in the first place.
She called Amy right away, it requiring three attempts to dial the correct numbers in her fury.
Amanda’s rage did not falter during the five rings it took to summon Amy to the phone.
Amy: ‘Hey babe!’
Amanda: ‘You fucking whore! How could you do that to me! You lied to me, and you fucked my man behind my back! I’m going to kill you!’
Amy: ‘No you’re not.’
Amanda: ‘Why the hell not?’
Amy: ‘Because you forget that even though no one believed Jack that those pictures were of you, I’m pretty sure they will believe mine.’
Amanda: ‘What?’
Amy: ‘Amanda, I set you up. I told Jack to send you that picture, because I knew you’d ask me for help to take pictures of you. You always come to me for advice. When I took all of those pictures for you, I saved all of the originals, not just for my viewing pleasure but also as insurance. What made it even easier is that you practically begged me to keep a copy of them. So I really didn’t to worry about keeping them a secret.’
Amanda: ‘You planned all of this?!?!?!’
Amy: ‘I knew there was a chance of me getting caught, so I wanted to make sure I could keep you quiet.’
Amanda:’So you get away with all of this?’
Amy: ‘You don’t mention that it was me that did it, and no one ever sees these pictures. I also keep them off the internet.’
Amanda: ‘I don’t have much of a choice, I guess. I lose no matter what happens.’
Amy: ‘No, you don’t. Two good things came out of this Amanda.’
Amanda: ‘What?’
Amy: ‘I finally got to sleep with Jeff, and you got rid of a cheating boyfriend.’
Amanda: ‘Yeah, well a lot more bad things came from it. Bye Amy.’
Amanda was devastated, she had lost her first boyfriend, and a friend reaching back to her childhood, all in the same hour. Her world was collapsing around her as every day went by, and it didn’t look like there was anything that she could do about it.
