Azure Rocks Chronicles
Chapter 1 — An Improbable Hero
The net attached to the rim made almost no movement as an orange ball swished through it, causing a round of cheers and applause to break out amongst the young men playing basketball in the Azure Rocks High School’s gym that morning.
‘Nice!’ A black, tall young man grinned at his friend and teammate. ‘Turning into quite the sharpshooter, eh, Zack?’
The shooter in question smiled back at him with icy-blue eyes. A slender young man, he ran his hand through the short, messy dark brown hair on his head, he always felt a bit embarrassed by compliments. At eighteen, Zachary Bishop was a senior at Azure Rocks High School and a reserve on the school’s basketball team, the Azure Rocks Wolves. The tall guy was his captain, Kevin Jackson.
‘Thanks!’ Zack replied, pleased with himself. ‘I’ve been practicing in my backyard almost every day. Yours and Paul’s tips have been really helpful.’
‘Well, by all means, keep doing that,’ Kevin said, his almost completely shaved head glistening with sweat. ‘You’ve improved a lot.’
‘Kevin’s right,’ a third player, blonde with brown eyes, added as he sidled up to them. ‘You’ve been sinking a lot of balls in practice, Zack.’
‘Well, Paul, let’s put it that way,’ Zack shrugged with a grin on his face. ‘As long as you two keep tearing the other teams apart, I won’t even need to worry about playing.’
Zachary didn’t mind spending his first and only season on the team warming the bench if it meant Kevin Jackson and Paul Hall would keep doing the awesome job they had been doing so far. Even the other three players on the starting five were awed by their two teammates and their small town had never seen such a deadly duo playing for the school’s basketball team.
Paul then glanced at the at the watch on his wrist. ‘Fuck, I think time’s up, folks,’ he announced to the others playing with them. ‘It’s almost lunch time.’
A few members from the team had a free period just before lunch that Friday, so Kevin and Paul gathered them to a last practice session before the big game they would have on Saturday night against the Mountain Falls Rhinos. If they won, the Wolves would qualify for the semifinals in the State Championship, so there wasn’t time to fool around, according to Kevin.
‘I’ll just leave then,’ Zack said, high-fiving Kevin as he walked away. ‘Lisa said she’s gonna meet me at the doors.’
Kevin nodded at his teammate while mentally shaking his head in amusement.

The girl’s long, slightly wavy red hair flowed behind her as she walked across the courtyards of Azure Rocks High School. Momentarily closing her clear-blue eyes, eighteen-year-old Chloe McRose felt the pleasant, light breeze hitting her in the face. She always enjoyed when the sunlight wasn’t so strong, since her pale, freckled skin was very prone to cases of sunburn.
‘Maybe we should look for them now,’ a quiet, masculine voice said beside her.
‘Give them some time, Gavin,’ Chloe replied with a small smile. ‘Lisa made him lunch today, let them enjoy themselves.’
Chloe’s fit, toned legs sculpted from all the years playing soccer led to an equally toned ass, clad in a pair of tight jeans, however, the baggy t-shirt she was wearing covered her ass and the large swells of her breasts from view. Gavin Westher was her second best friend, an 18-year-old boy with short, spiky light brown hair and brown eyes.
‘Uh-oh, too late for that now,’ Gavin said, adjusting the glasses on the bridge of his nose as he stared dumbfounded at the sight before him.
Just as they were rounding out the corner, the two of them stumbled into a rather funny sight. Their other two friends, Zachary and his girlfriend Lisa, were sitting on a stone bench, or rather, Zack was sitting on the bench with Lisa perched on his lap as they heavily made out with each other.
A flushed Chloe widened her eyes at the sight of her oldest and best friend kissing his girlfriend. Well, since we’re here, she thought and then cleared her throat. However, it was pointless and her friends continued to kiss in front of Gavin and her, so Chloe tried it a second time, a bit louder this time.
Seeing that the result was the same as before, Gavin just took a step forward before Chloe could stop him.

Zachary tightened his hands on his girlfriend’s curvy ass as her tongue tangled with his. No sooner than they finished eating the delicious lunch Lisa had made for them, the girl in question climbed onto his lap and initiated one the hottest make-out sessions they had ever shared. Ever since they had sex for the first time two weeks ago, Lisa started becoming more passionate, and Zack enjoyed reaping all the rewards.
The blue-eyed young man broke off the kiss to stare into Lisa Rivera’s chocolate-brown ones, her round breasts heaving under her white top in sync with her uneven breath. Long, wavy black tresses framed her beautiful face. He leaned in to nibble at the smooth, olive skin of her neck, a complexion she got from her Hispanic descent.
Lisa moaned at the sudden action. ‘Oh, Zack, you’re gonna give me a hickey if you keep that up!’
‘Hmm, don’t care.’ He replied, his voice muffled by being buried in her neck.
‘My father might care if he spots it when I get home later,’ Lisa whispered, her eyes closing at the sensation. ‘Dad, who is a cop, remember?’
Zack chuckled and pulled back, diving for her lips once again. He had a friendly relationship with Lisa’s father, but as she said, it was unpredictable what his reaction would be if he came home to find his daughter with a love mark on her neck. One of his hands raised to massage her back as the other remained at her round rump, squeezing away. Lisa then tightened her hold around his neck and began to play with his messy dark-brown hair as their tongues danced together.
‘Uhn, Zack, Lisa?’ an unsure voice inquired from beside them as a hand tentatively touched both of their shoulders.
The two lovebirds immediately sprang apart, startled by the sudden interruption. Zachary stared back at his two friends with a heaving chest, his heart beating madly. ‘Geez, Gavin, really?’
Lisa put a hand on her chest. ‘Jesus, you scared the crap out of us,’ the Hispanic girl said as she got off her boyfriend’s lap and sat to his left.
‘Sorry, guys, I couldn’t stop him,’ Chloe said, with a hint of amusement on her voice. ‘But I cleared my throat twice to get your attention before Gavin did his thing.’
Zack laughed. ‘No problem, it was actually funny,’ he said. ‘Thanks for the laugh, Gav.’
A slightly embarrassed Gavin let out a small smile. ‘You’re welcome, buddy,’ he replied as Chloe sat on Zack’s right side and he filled out the last empty spot by the redhead’s side.
‘So, how was practice?’ Chloe asked as Zack wrapped his left arm around Lisa’s shoulders.
‘Great, Kevin tired us out a bit, but since the game’s tomorrow he has a pretty good excuse,’ Zack replied with a smile.
‘It’ll all be worth it, you’ll see it if you guys become state champions,’ his best friend said. ‘I’ll always cherish the titles I got playing soccer.’
‘Well, I won’t feel too much like a champion,’ Zack lamented. ‘I didn’t play any games so far, Paul always crushes the teams we play against.’
Chloe grinned. ‘That’s why you have to keep practicing, so you’ll be ready when your chance knocks on your door.’
‘And while you wait, how about we try to beat ‘Haunted Forest’ today after school?’ Gavin inquired referring to one of his favorite games. ‘Chl
oe and Lisa can even come and watch it.’
‘Sorry, buddy,’ Zack shook his head. ‘Mr. Henderson roped me into giving a tutoring session today after school.’
‘To whom?’ Lisa asked, an eyebrow raised. She had hoped to have some alone time with Zack after school finished later.
‘I dunno, he was in a hurry,’ Zack replied. ‘Just told me to be at the library today after last period.’
‘Oh, crap,’ Gavin piped in. ‘Well, better you than me. Whenever a teacher sends me to tutor someone, I end up in a locker, or with my ass stuffed into a trash can, and those are on my lucky days, there are times I find myself with my head shoved in a toilet.’
Chloe frowned. ‘Gav, you really should report it when someone does those things to you.’ She squeezed her friend’s shoulder.
‘Chloe, it’d be worse, trust me,’ the light-brown haired boy adjusted his glasses on his nose. ‘I have it under control.’
‘I’ve never had that kind of problem, I think Kevin threatens people to stay away from team members,’ Zack added. ‘Anyways, I’ll see if I can do something for you, maybe spread the word around that you’re friends with the team or something.’
Gavin smiled. ‘Thanks, buddy.’

Meanwhile, a gorgeous 17-year-old young woman peeked into the main corridor, from the boy’s bathroom. Okay, not too crowded, no staffers around, she thought to herself, let’s go. Out the door she went, and after a few steps, it was like she had never been in there. She quickly caught up to her boyfriend who was already making his way into the cafeteria.
It wasn’t the first time her boyfriend roped her into a quickie in a bathroom stall in the seven months they have been together, but Ashley Woodsen wished she could at least have the will to deny him those degrading romps and demand that they had sex on a bed, in the privacy of his or her bedroom. Pushing a strand of her long, slightly wavy blonde hair behind her ear, Ashley’s blue eyes fixed on her boyfriend walking beside her and she sighed.
‘Something wrong, babe?’ eighteen-year-old Brandon Cole inquired, briefly glancing at his girlfriend. Starting quarterback of the school’s football team, he was one of the most popular boys on Azure Rocks High School and the personification of the word ‘jock’.
Ashley forced out a smile. ‘Nothing, Bran, just a bit tired,’ she replied. ‘Say, is it today you have that math tutoring session?’
‘Yeah, Mr. Henderson had to choose a damn Friday for that,’ Brandon answered, his right hand balling into a fist. ‘At least I can have some fun afterwards.’
The blonde grimaced at her boyfriend’s last sentence. She had heard about Brandon and other bullies, not necessarily jocks, harassing students they viewed as weaker than them. Needless to say, Ashley wasn’t happy about it and vowed to make at least her boyfriend stop with that nonsense. Dammit, now I’ll have to be at the library to make sure he doesn’t touch the poor guy.
At that moment, the two of them stepped into the cafeteria, prompting Ashley to look around for a while until she found her friends. ‘Oh, there’s Heather and your sister,’ she said, pointing out at a table near the back. ‘Let’s grab our food and join them.’ After a couple minutes in the line, they got their food and walked over to their friends.
‘Dammit, Heather,’ Brandon said as they sat down. ‘You really had to dump Steve? Now he’s bugging the hell out of me to talk to you for him.’
A stunning 18-year-old young woman, with long, wavy dark-brown hair smirked at him in response, her electric-blue eyes twinkling. ‘Well, not my fault if your friends are so boring, Brandon dear,’ she fired back, her large breasts jiggling delightfully under her blouse as she chuckled.
Heather Ravers was the sassy captain of the cheerleading squad, of which Ashley and Brandon’s sister, Madison, also were members. An object of desire amongst the male population of Azure Rocks High School, she usually ignored them, preferring the company of older guys, but she made an exception for a friend of Brandon’s from the football team, Steve. After one single date, Heather knew all there was to know about him, and he didn’t interest her in the slightest.
‘Too boring, too needy, the list goes on,’ she added.
‘It isn’t you who has to endure his endless crying now,’ Brandon remarked, briefly glancing at the swell of her covered tits before turning his attention to the food before him.
His younger sister, Madison Cole, took a sip of her orange juice before looking at Ashley. ‘So, Ash, what about your birthday party next week?’ she inquired. Madison was the youngest in their little group, her own eighteenth birthday being only towards the end of May. She and her brother had the same black hair and brown eyes, but her tresses were long and straight as opposed to his short hairstyle.
‘Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys,’ Ashley replied, excitement on her voice. ‘My parents will be away for the night, we can have the party at my place.’
‘Cool!’ Heather chimed in. ‘I have some great news too, my dad gave the green light yesterday, so we’ll be able to use his cabin on Spring Break!’
Madison pouted. ‘Not fair, mom said I can’t go with you guys to the cabin,’ she lamented. ‘You’re underage, Madison, you can’t go!’ The black-haired girl tried to impersonate her mother’s voice.
‘Don’t worry, Maddie, we’ll try to arrange a trip during the Summer too,’ Heather smiled at her fellow cheerleader. ‘You’ll join us then.’
Brandon mentally laughed at his sister’s expense. Being alone at a secluded cabin with just Ashley, Heather and Victoria for company was a prospect that excited the football player in more ways than one, his cock stirring at the thought. He turned to Ashley. ‘Hey Ash, want to catch a movie later tonight?’
Ashley gave him a small smile. ‘Sorry, Bran, as much I’d like to go out with you, I also promised Vicky I’d hang out with her.’
Brandon shrugged. ‘It’s ok, I don’t mind her watching,’ he smirked. ‘Maybe she can learn some stuff from us.’
‘Bran!’ Ashley exclaimed, mock-punching her boyfriend’s arm. She was used to those jokes Brandon made about her friends, but a nagging feeling at the back of her mind sometimes made her worry if he wasn’t being serious.
‘For the record, I so didn’t want to hear that!’ Madison snapped, annoyed at her brother.
‘Speaking of Vicky, where is she?’ Heather inquired.
‘She’s working on an article for the paper, or so she told me before lunch,’ Ashley answered. ‘You know how she likes to be alone for that.’

Victoria Walker wasn’t a happy camper by the time she left her office, a room she had been assigned by the principal as editor of the school’s newspaper. When she arrived there after eating her lunch, the young woman was informed by her friend Lucy, a girl who worked with her on the paper, that the principal had stopped by with an upset look on his face and left a message requesting her presence at his office at her earliest convenience. Of course, he also canceled the next week’s edition of the paper before leaving.
Long, wavy blonde hair flying behind her and emerald-green eyes narrowed in determination, Victoria marched through the hallways, her round, bubbly ass clad in a pair of tight jeans turning quite a few heads as she passed. The swell of her medium-sized breasts jiggled at each step she took. At last, she arrived at the principal’s office and took a deep breath to calm herself down before knocking on the door.
‘Enter,’ a deep, masculine voice spoke from within the room.
Victoria twisted the doorknob and opened the door, stepping inside the principal’s office. Jacob Hartburn sat behind his desk, a smile on his face at seeing one of the school’s best students walking into his office. A man of thirty-seven, Jacob began working at Azure Rocks High School two years ago, and decided to try an approach of working closely t
o the students, as opposed to his ancient predecessor. That fact, coupled with his youthful nature, ensured most of the female population in the school developed different levels of crushes on him.
That included Victoria. Coming face to face with Mr. Hartburn’s warm hazel eyes nearly made her forgot all the anger she felt when Lucy gave her the news, she always admired the commanding, yet gentle and respectful way he handled the students. When it came to her, she enjoyed the fact he didn’t stare at her like she was a piece of meat as the boys around school usually did, he also was a big supporter of the school’s newspaper, but they were always butting heads about what should or shouldn’t be published. She knew he probably had a good reason for canceling the next paper, but even that thought wasn’t enough to lessen her anger.
‘Oh, Ms. Walker, come in!’ Jacob said warmly, waving the young blonde over to one of the two chairs before his desk. From the expression on her face, he guessed she had gotten his message. ‘Close the door, please.’
Victoria raised a curious eyebrow, but did as she was told. Weird, we always talk with an open door, she thought while walking over to the chair in front of the principal’s desk. She sat down and stared at the man for a couple seconds. ‘Alright, Mr. Hartburn, I’ll cut right to the chase, why did you cancel next week’s paper?’
Jacob sighed, when he read the article his pupil had written, he almost thought his eyes were playing tricks on him. Victoria had a quirky penchant for writing sensationalist articles, but what she was intending to publish on the school’s newspaper next week was going too far, even for her. Never before he was so glad for his right to veto her articles. ‘Ms. Walker, you can’t even begin to imagine my concern when I read the article you were planning to publish on the next edition,’ he calmly said.
‘It’s all true if that’s what bothers you!’ the green-eyed blonde retorted.
The principal ran a hand through his short black hair. ‘Really, Ms. Walker?’ he inquired before opening one of his drawers and pulling a copy from next week’s paper. ‘Female students persuaded into performing at underground sex club. Teachers and staff involved.’ Jacob read and then locked eyes with the girl before him. ‘Ms. Walker, you can’t write an article about every rumor you hear.’
His skeptical tone left no doubt he didn’t believe her. ‘It’s true!’ Victoria insisted. ‘A girl told me about it, her friend was convinced. I just couldn’t get her to tell me names.’
Jacob raised a questioning eyebrow. ‘I’ve read the entire article and you didn’t mention an interview.’
‘She came to me three days ago and asked to remove every mention I’ve made of her in the article,’ Victoria sighed, briefly looking down at her feet. ‘She seemed very afraid to me.’
‘Or she was lying to you and there never was anything in the first place,’ Jacob retorted. ‘Victoria, you should consider yourself lucky that girl didn’t give you any names. If you had printed this with names and the teachers mentioned heard about it, you and your parents could be sued and I would be forced to expel you, is that what you want?’
Victoria’s head fell down once again. ‘No, Mr. Hartburn.’ she replied, gritting her teeth.
‘Ms. Walker, you can’t risk it all for a scoop, that’s the advice I give you for your future career as a journalist, or you may find yourself in situations you can’t come out of. And the worst thing about it all, let’s consider just for a second this is true,’ the principal said, crossing his arms. ‘If the people involved with this hypothetical club heard you told a story about them, don’t you think you would have been in danger for exposing it?’ Jacob sighed. ‘Victoria, I can’t very well lose our prime candidate for valedictorian, can I?’
The young blonde jerked her head up, her eyes wide in surprise. Not only Mr. Hartburn said he worried about her, but he also practically confirmed she was going to be valedictorian. Her cheeks reddened, all thoughts about the article forgotten in her mind. ‘Sorry, Mr. Hartburn.’ She said in a sheepish tone.
