"All is as planned master." A little imp with a rather large, and disgusting
grin, stood before an old man on a throne. The man, dressed in robes of purple
with trim of gold and silver, slouched with a staff draped across his lap. The
naked imp tried to control his eagerness. His failure led to dance. "I have done
as you have instructed. Now, even Gnar, hero of Beleth and hero/warrior of the
sorceress Tenre, cannot stop your plan."
"Good," the wizards voice filled the chamber with dread, as the imp stopped his
dance and cringed. "Good, I have worked on this for years. Carefully structuring
Tenre's army to be so thin, they are useless to her now. That so called hero,
how have you dealt with him?"
"Well, I must take some pride in this," the imp said beaming his teeth. "I led
the fool to the Amulet of R'tnah, but the prize he received was the Amulet of
the Opps." A blood-curdling laugh filled the chamber, as the imp went into a
frenzy. Spouting off, like water on hot grease, the imp said, "And that would
mean, a wish he uses to destroy you, will make you even more powerful."
The wizard lifts his staff with a jerking motion, and the imp is bathed in a
green fire. Out of the flame drops the imp in a pool of quivering slime. "You
have not the skill or the knowledge to deviate from my plan. You will be
stripped of your title and rank, and be placed into The Pit for twelve seasons.
The Amulet of Opps, indeed. Now, how am I supposed to get that from him before
the gem's power is released and all is put asunder."
"Something troubling you, Tyne." Appearing from nowhere, a six-foot tall,
armored-clad individual now stood before the wizard. "I'm so glad I caught you
at a bad time."
"You insolent fool!" Shouting, the wizard raised his staff and the armor-clad
hero is enveloped in a green flame. To the Tyne's surprise, Gnar steps fourth
unscathed.
"This amulet is a real gem, wouldn't you say Tyne?" Gnar does not wait for a
response. "I see I have to make a wish to rid this world of you."
The wizard stands, and lowers his staff at Gnar. A bolt of red light hits Gnar,
and is bounced back to hit the green ooze the imp has become.
"You will have to do better than that, old man." Gnar's pug look turns to awe as
the green glob takes a serpents shape. Clutching the Amulet, Gnar yells out his
wish. "I wish that..." The serpents tail, knocks Gnar across the chamber,
shattering his armor. Battered and bleeding, barely able to Maintain
consciousness, Gnar yells as best as he can, "I wish...that I... had... the
power... to... stop you!"
The serpents' teeth lay ready to shred their next meal. Suddenly, a white light
flashed from the Amulet and the serpent was gone. The wizard's staff vanished,
as did everything.
A woman standing in front of a refrigerator, peering deep and coming up empty.
The belt in her robe had loosened and the chill from the icebox sent shivers up
her spine. She adjusted the overlap and tightened the belt. She then turned
around and pulled the phone from the wall. Dialing, she let it ring until it was
answered. "Hello, Tyne Electronics. Ben Tyne speaking, how can I help you?" The
voice was all too familiar.
Her cute, sexy and quite female voice beckoned, "Honey, I hope I did not catch
you at a bad time but, could you stop on your way home and pick-up a gallon of
milk?"
"Sure Ginger, anything for you."
The conversation went on, as Tenre surveys through her crystal orb. She laughs
knowing how Gnar's wish was fulfilled. Tyne would no longer be a problem.
Although, if she had her way, Gnar would not have had to be married to him. Then
again, Tenre knew when she gave the amulet to the imp that the opposite of
fantasy is reality.
