sit back and look a this from a point reality. You have two men who accept
you as Patricia. And Patricia has at least one girlfriend she can go out
and do things with, possibly have a relationship with."
I just sat and listened as Dr. Jenkins spoke. He spoke as one who is not
used to being interrupted does, much like one of his lectures. Except this
lecture was my life. "Pain and confusion aside - to paraphrase one of our
ex-leaders - you have to ask yourself 'Are you better off now than you
were?' I would say yes. Your pledge task has created an environment where
Patricia can live and move about and establish relationships. Isn't that
really, what you've always wanted. But it's never going to be easy. Life
isn't."
I declined his offer for another soda, and thanked him profusely and
sincerely for his time. He had been a great help, and I did feel slightly
better.

When I got back to my apartment, I was determined not to feel sorry for
myself. I picked the phone up immediately and called Kim. Kim sounded a

There was a knock on the door. I looked at my watch. I knew she loved
shopping, but this was record time. I walked over and opened up the door.

on his face. I considered closing it for a moment, but I had to know what
