There was no good news in the next couple of days.
Albert and Frankie had disappeared. Inspector Tyrone came out to tell them they had searched the taverns and dives and couldn’t find them. Apparently, Anne’s boys were looking too, and they hadn’t had any success either. A Constable reported that a carriage had been stolen from one of the Estates and they now believed the men had left the area.
Paul decided to head back to Terville with the news. There wasn’t anything left for him to do here, now that Albert was gone. The cast was working a treat, and his forearm wasn’t hurting him as much. He convinced Ulani that he would take it steady and rest if he needed to on the way. The new road would make the trip easier.
With Paul gone, Ulani and Vincent finished their packing. Ulani had agreed to shift her flock, but it was a sixteen day trip at the quickest to Arron Hills with the Unos walking. She and Druid Feather split the flock. Ulani was taking the three hundred fittest members that didn’t have babies. The rest would be staying. Druid Feather had agreed to manage her old Estate.
She was taking Red and the girls she was keeping for him. She also planned to take a flock of pure white Uno’s, as well as several smaller groups of her maroon, auburn, copper and honey Unos. They had hired four extra drovers to assist with the drive, and four of her permanent people would be staying with her.
She would also be taking eight of the adult Guardios, and four of the younger dogs she was training as a pack for goats. They essentially had two adult packs, and she was taking Hugo’s family. Feather had chuckled and told her he’d like to see her try and leave Hugo behind.
She had consignments for half her summer wool, but she decided to bring the rest. The animals she was taking were sheared first and their wool packed in bails for the shift. Feather would get the rest done, fill the consignment with their wool and sell whatever was left over.
They would end up with six carts including the cook’s cart and the carriage for Victor and Nanny Dee that would lead the way. The carts would travel behind the flock. By the end of the week, they set out for their first stop, Willow’s Estate. Willow had written, and she had a paddock they could use to put the flock in for the two nights they planned to stay.
It took them two full days to get to Willow’s estate mostly because these Uno’s were not used to travelling as this flock. Ulani was amused that Victor probably spent as much of that time on Vincent’s horse as he did in the carriage. Vincent had with Dee’s help, devised a sling, so his son hung off his chest but also sat in his lap.
Ulani wasn’t surprised that her cousin Dee had taken a shine to Vincent. While Dee was five years older than Ulani and she was a pretty woman in her own right, Ulani had noticed that Vincent hadn’t taken any real notice of Dee. He treated her politely, but he didn’t flirt.
The first time Vincent used the harness, he told Victor it was so he could ride with him safely. The boy had been perfectly happy to be strapped into it. Vincent walked the horse around the yard. He made some minor alterations of the straps and even let Victor hold the reins for him, while he did.
Vincent increased the speed of the horse to see how Victor reacted. In answer, his son yelled out, “Go, Daddy, go.” He even gee-upped the ends of the reins that he was holding.
Ulani looked at Dee and Druid Feather, “Oh dear, he will never get Victor off the horse, now.” They both had to laugh with her.
Vincent was amazed the boy had complete faith in him. They had become very close over the month he had been interacting with him.
Vincent was a very happy man.
On the day they left, it was Victor’s third birthday.
Ulani had told Vincent she had been thinking of taking Victor to the shrine in Haldol, as typically children in her family were officially named on their third birthday. Vincent remembered Tah, Ulani’s brother mentioning this and that they had taken the twins to Willow’s Grove to be named just as Willow and Ty had.
Victor asked Druid Feather if he would accompany them to the new grove to do the honours for Vincent. Druid Feather was delighted to do this and to learn that a new grove was nearby. He had several of his brethren go with him the day before to check out the grove.
When Vincent, his party and the Uno’s turned up the next afternoon. They found five very happy Druids. “Vincent, do you know who established this grove. We had no idea one as powerful as this one was so close to us?” Druid Feather asked him.
Vincent very sheepishly said that he did. He explained that Old Harriot, Prue’s Nanny told him what her grandfather had done, so he did the same. He was a little surprised when the druid told him to his knowledge that was the last time a Grove had been established. He learnt that all of the Arrondales and Dahls where Gifted.
The Druid looked at Victor and wondered how the lad would turn out. He was an exceptionally bright boy and was already learning his letters. He spoke very well for his age, and he was a real charmer. He had already lost a lot of the chubby toddler looks.
Victor took the procedure of being named very seriously. He liked his new names, as he was being called Victor Jonas Dahl Arrondale. When he placed his hand on the stump that his father had carved, he got a splinter in his finger.
He removed the offending piece of wood and watched fascinated as the blood welled on his finger. He then wiped it into the letter he knew was a ‘G’, his fingers tingled when he did. He squeezed out a new drop and wiped it into the ‘O’ and then again for the ‘D’ and then the ‘S’.
He felt very satisfied that he had. He turned to his father when he finished, “Good place Daddy. Now, good place.” He smiled at the druids and said, “Can I go play?”
The adults were looking at him strangely, and Druid Feather finally said, “Yes lad, you can go play.” Victor gave them all, his most angelic smile and sauntered off to investigate this lovely place for a boy to be. Hugo shadowed the boy.
Druid Feather looked at Ulani and Vincent, “That was chilling. I’ve never felt a Grove respond to a naming like that. It was if he put his stamp on the grove and claimed it for good.”
“Why did he wipe his blood into the letters, Druid Feather? It was if he knew what he was doing. He was very precise and intent about it,” Ulani asked her mentor.
“I agree. It was as if he just knew it would bind with his fathers and make the grove even stronger. Being blessed by two powerful druids, it will not tolerate bad people being in this grove.”
“Two powerful Druids?” questioned Vincent in surprise.
“Yes, you are a son of at least one Gifted parent and have been at least twice blessed. Ulani is also twice blessed. Victor is very strong in the gifts, and he has a strong glow like Ty and Tah’s children. It is an interesting time for Druids,” Druid Feather finished.
Druid Feather had gone to meet the other children when he had accompanied Ulani on one of her visits to Ty’s home. He wished that he was going with them. He would have to find a Druid to move to Vincent’s estate to tutor the boy and his sisters.
He decided a visit to Druid Williams who was watching over Ty and Tah’s flocks would be required he had a much larger flock these days. Druid Feather told them that he would accompany them as far as Ty’s home. The couple had no problem with this. Druid Feather organised with his other brethren to take over the farm while he was away.
The convoy and the flock were soon back on the road.
Willow and Ty were happy to have Vincent and Ulani in their home.
The addition of Victor was a plus. When Vincent rode in with Victor strapped to his chest, Ty had to go inspect the harness. Prue and Tah were with them, and of course, Tah had to see how it worked. Both men loved the idea to the horror of their wives.
Vincent indicated that he had made the harness so that as Victor got bigger, he could adjust it for him. Ulani had to sympathise with Willow and Prue. “He scared the heck out of me when he first got on the horse with Victor. But Victor loves it, and it is very safe.”
Victor was introduced to his cousins. He had never had other children to play with before. At first, he was a bit apprehensive and clung to Vincent’s leg, but Bethany took him under her wing, and he soon found it was lots of fun having cousins.
Ty and Tah had fun teasing Vincent about being a Daddy and he then informed then he would soon be catching up to them, as Ulani was pregnant with twins. Grace inspected Ulani and told her she would be having twin girls.
“So when is the wedding?” Tah asked.
Vincent grimaced, “I wrote to your father to get permission, and he sent a terse note back to Ulani. Apparently, it will be during the Winter Season as he his coming to make sure it happens.”
“So it looks like we will all have to troop off for the Season if the King is getting Royal visitors. Plus I will be more than happy to see you married Vincent. The next crop of debutants will be safe this year,” teased Ty.
Vincent didn’t comment they had been safe from him since he met Ulani unless they were already practising countesses. As he could contest, virgins just got a bloke into trouble.
The girls had been thinking of skipping the season this year and just have Ty go for the four weeks necessary for the council meetings. He could proxy vote for Willow. The couples were just as busy these days as they were when they married. But they knew they would have to go and started planning their visit around when Vincent wanted the wedding.
Because Vincent was going to Midlands early and then onto Bavindor, Ulani volunteered Prue and Willow to organise the Wedding planner and get things going. She wasn’t that fussed what they decided to do as long as it kept her father off her back. At least she would only be a couple of months along as far as dress fittings went.
No one missed the gleams in Prue and Willow’s eyes when they got carte-blanc to organise the wedding. Ulani was more than happy to put it all in their safe hands.
Vincent had effectively held the reins for his Dukedom for nearly four years now. He had been doing a good job as far as his cousins were concerned considering he’d had to spend so much time away with his studies.
Ty and Tah both decided him having a family would only be a good thing. It would help him settle down. Vincent had been a bit wild after Ulani left. Ty had feared he was more like his father than he would have liked to see. He was relieved when he heard the truth in Vincent’s statements that he truly loved Ulani.
That evening they had a little party to celebrate Victor’s birthday and his Name day. Victor had a lot of fun getting gifts from everyone. He made sure that he gave each of his girl cousin’s and aunts a kiss, to say thank you for his gifts.
It soon became apparent that Victor was a heart stealer, like his father. Bethany (10), Prue’s daughters Nianna (7) and Francine (4), all thought he was adorable. He soon won the hearts of the other nannies, as well as Grace and her daughter Janie (3).
Willow and Prue also agreed he was very cute until he taught Janie and the four-year-old twins, Robert and Reilly, and Tristin and Francine, to play mud castles the next day. They were supposed to be playing in the nursery after breakfast, but Victor took them all downstairs and out to the stables where he had spied a hose when he had arrived the afternoon before.
When the very worried parents found them an hour later, there were six very muddy, wet children, very busily building mud castles and playing with the hose. They found them by following the giggles. When Ty looked at his sons and asked whose idea it was? Victor said innocently, “Daddy’s.”
Ulani burst out laughing. Vincent sheepishly had to explain about teaching Victor how to build mud castles. He knew he was never going to live this down as long as he lived.
Druid Feather, Druid Andy and Druid William turned up while the children were getting scowled. The Druids were amused to see the children behaving just as they felt children their age should be behaving.
Feather asked Vincent and Ulani if Druid Andy could accompany them as Victor’s tutor. Victor had noticed that his cousins had greeted the man affably and Ty gave him the nod that he was a good man.
Andy was close to thirty and had never married. He was a 185cm tall and gangly looking blonde-haired man. He had bright blue eyes that seemed to twinkle and a ready smile that made you feel welcome. He extruded a confident and caring manner that made you feel that you could trust him.
Vincent said it was up to Victor. So Andy asked Victor if he would accept him as his teacher. He had squatted down to Victor’s level when he did. Vincent was amused when Victor looked at Ty and not himself. When Ty nodded, the boy looked back at Andy and gently touched his cheek.
Victor then gave Andy his angelic smile and stole a piece of his heart. He took the man’s larger hand in his small one and shook it in agreement. He then asked innocently if Andy knew about how much water was needed to make good mud for building with.
Victor was not sure why this question made all the adults laugh.
Ty had also organised two guards for Vincent.
The twenty-seven year old, 178cm tall and slimmer man was Kyle Truman, and the slightly shorter and stockier man was his two years younger cousin Hardy Truman. They both had pleasant if slightly rugged features with dark brown hair and eyes and well-tanned beige skin that attracted females. The men wore their hair cut close to their head. They were dressed neatly in worn but still good quality working/riding clothes.
Both men were excellent shots and competent riders. They gave the impression they were good at their job. More importantly, Vincent knew he could trust them as he had met them before. Vincent, however, would never wish to get into a fight with either of them. Both Vincent and Ulani were delighted to have them join the party.
Victor was a little sad at leaving his cousins, but he was sure they would have more fun next time he saw them. He was, however, happy to be on the horse with his Daddy. As far as he was concerned, he was going on a grand adventure.
The party were back on the road by mid-morning. They made good time. The Gardios and the herders kept the Unos moving along. They found plenty of paddocks to bed them down in at night, and the Gardios kept a close eye on them.
The party didn’t push the pace the first couple of days, as many of the ewes were pregnant and not used to walking long distances. They did, however, try to keep the pace fairly constant. As the flock settled into the routine, they were able to make a few more klicks each day.
They were soon on track to get to their destination in good time.
Prue rode into the yard. She got down off the horse and gave it to the stable lad. “Do you know if the owner of that carriage is inside?” “Yes, Ma’am, the man and his daughter got hurt by highwaymen. The constables are out trying to track them. The man said they took his wife.” Prue sighed in relief that Tah was okay. “What of the little girl?” The young man shook his head sadly, “She was still unconscious, and the man is in a bad way, worrying about her.” Tears welled in Prue’s eyes....
Prue and Tina soon settled in on the ship. This trip would take six weeks, and Prue was glad she could afford the bigger accommodation. It was designed as a family unit. She had a decent sized bed in her cabin, and one of the two smaller cabins had enough room for Tina and Nianna. They had a railing surrounding half of the lower bed. So Nianna could sleep safe and the other half of the bed made for a change table. A tiny sitting room divided the main bedroom and bathroom from the two...
Willow was very nervous at meeting the King. She wore the green striped dress and found a lovely necklace and earbobs in her mother’s jewellery box. She didn’t like wearing powders on her face so she didn’t. She did smear a pink gloss on her lips and darkened her eyelashes. She grabbed her cape and purse and headed out to the sitting room. Ty turned when he heard her door open and he stood transfixed. She was beautiful, that was all he could think. Then she smiled that little smile she gave...
Upon arrival, the crew found her a carriage and sadly loaded it for her. Prue looked up to see Stuart standing on the deck. He had a pensive look, and she too felt some sadness at parting from him. He had been an enjoyable lover. Prue’s driver took her to the orphanage. She had been amused by the look he gave her when she told him her destination. Apparently, she wasn’t the first pregnant woman he had escorted there. “Hello, I was told to see a Druid Sandie,” she said to the nurse she...
The party was more than glad to pull up in the circular drive of Terrell Manor. Victor was first out of the coach and was soon happily being hugged by his cousins. He’d loved the idea of spending all of winter with them and had been more than enthusiastic in the trip north. He had a lot to tell them about his trip. The kids were soon carting him off to show him his new room as he was going to be in the communal nursery with them. Nanny Dee followed in their wake to keep an eye on him. She...
Carol had started playing up to Vincent. She acted as if she was his old lover and that Ulani was in the way of them being together because he had to marry her. She staged little scenes to make it look like Vincent was pursuing her. She would give Ulani little guilty looks but then look at Vincent as if he was the love of her life. She was really pissing Ulani off. Vincent had noticed the tension between the two, but with all his other problems, he didn’t realise what Carol had been doing...
Albert married Carol a week later. That was probably the most noble thing he had done in an exceedingly long time. The lawyer had checked his credentials, and grudgingly, with a few growls and threats from Albert, he had finally signed the trust over to Lord Ronald Pirelli and his new wife, Lady Carol. When Albert had gone over the Portfolio, he knew the bastard lawyer had been milking the Trust and cheating Carol. Also, he should have handed it over to her when she turned twenty-five,...
Albert Arrondale, better known as Sir Allan Dale these days, wasn’t a happy man. He had to be very careful being back in Midland. He was well known, and while he looked different and ten years had passed since he was last here, he knew the Constables had a more recent description of him. Frankie had suggested they needed to alter his face some more. He was happy to give Albert a couple of more scars if he wished. Albert didn’t find his suggestion funny at all. It had been touch-and-go...
The next three weeks flew by. Prue was working on her designs and the textbook. Tah spent more time with her than his friends. Raghu also spent a lot of time with them and Tina. Prue found Raghu had a very good eye for design and a strong mechanical aptitude. He picked out several issues that he helped her improve. Tah became her editor and sounding board for her book. He was fascinated with it and asked her lots of questions. They even set up experiments so he could see her theories in...
So where was Vincent’s honeymoon? Would you believe that they went home? On one of their shopping expeditions a week before the wedding. Ulani found a small flock of eight Uno’s with fleece that shone like silver. The man selling them said that while their fleece was pretty, it was almost impossible to get it to form a thread. Plus, he didn’t have a boar to service them as the boar he’d purchased died on the trip here, and none of the ewes was pregnant. He’d tried two other boars that were...
The two men decided it was time to get up. They packed their gear up outside the tent. Ty started breakfast while Vincent started pulling the tent down. Vincent looked at his relaxed cousin, “We should do this more often, Ty. I have really enjoyed this week.” Ty smiled at Vincent indulgently, “I have too. I miss our camping trips as well. You have come a long way from the skinny little kid, frightened of his own shadow.” The two men smiled at each other both remembering the first time Ty...
Vincent’s eyelids fluttered. When Vincent first became aware of the world again, he saw a beautiful sight hovering over him. “Ulani?” he said with a croak. She looked down on him. She didn’t seem happy to see him. Another face joined hers. It was an old man’s face, complete with a long white beard and the bushiest eyebrows, Vincent had ever seen. The old man placed his hand on Vincent’s head, “I think the fever has abated, at last, Princess. If he hadn’t been so healthy, he would have...
The next seven months were very busy for the people living in Tah’s house. Prue worked on the business side as required. For the most part, she left it up to the team she had put together to get things up and running. It was their town and their people, so they knew who was who, where the best places to build were and where to get the resources that they need. Lyle had turned out a godsend, and he ran the office. Tah and Raghu looked after everything that needed to happen out of the office....
Chapter 14: Passing the Torch One day Julie was playing around on MySpace. She was doing me a favor, checking all of the pages I had made for myself and every pseudonym I had lived under when I was living the life of the gambler, I wasn’t very good about keeping up on them myself. That was much more Julie’s thing—a reflection, perhaps, of the age/generation gap between us. On my personal page (that is, the one in my real name) Julie noticed that I had gotten a bunch of messages from a girl...
Gifted Grifter #8: The Return of Jessie My ‘sugar daddy’ weekend with Julie changed me. I missed her terribly after seeing her off at the airport. Since the time I had invented the mindreader until that weekend, I my primary objective had been to use my device to seduce as many hot women as possible. But now, when I thought of having sex with a hot woman, I always pictured Julie. Simple fact was, everything I liked to do—which was pretty much everything—she did better than any other woman I...
Vincent’s thoughts returned to the Winter Season when he and Ulani had just turned eighteen. In the year leading up to the Winter Season, Leigh’s father, Baron David Karlson, had married Ulani’s cousin and companion, Gail. Willow had said that Ulani was welcome to stay in the Terrell Mansion in Bavindor since Ulani would be attending the Academe with Vincent and Leigh that year. Because Vincent was still Ty’s ward, he lived at the Mansion. Leigh had moved out of home to give his father some...
The man collapsed to the ground and died. The collective gasp caused the survivor to look over at the spectators. As he did, his gun also tracked a path to stop so that it pointed at the chest of the other big man sitting on a horse. The big man was lifting his gun to shoot Vincent. “Stop. You are all under arrest for murder. Drop your guns now,” barked Vincent. However, the horseman showed his intent as he aimed the gun. This bullet did hit bone first but still did nasty things inside his...
She woke to him caressing her breast. He was just rubbing it gently through the nightie she wore, and it felt wonderful. She pressed her arse back into him, and he didn’t disappoint, as he was hard and ready. She knew he loved morning nookies. He groaned, “Please don’t Kitten. I just needed you with me last night. I’m sorry I was such a bastard and didn’t trust you. I upset you when you hadn’t done anything wrong. You hadn’t had a chance to talk to me about the will, and I jumped to...
The following night they decided to dine in. Once they ended up in the entertainment room, the discussion changed to wedding plans again. Prue had been stewing on the couch, and Nianna was, as per usual, in Tah’s lap. Prue still couldn’t accept that the only way of getting out of marrying Tah was to petition his father. She also knew it would cost her a lot to get out of the agreement. Jonas had made it very clear that he approved of the marriage. He wouldn’t be happy with her. “Wait, it...

Ty went into Terville the next morning. He needed to talk to the Constable and finalise the arrangements for the burial of Harry. He got a more comprehensive report of just what had been happening. The Constable said they had scared the rogues off on a couple of occasions. The men had been sneaky and had even resorted to killing the guards the last time. The scoundrels had also fired other fields to draw them off so they could go back to Baron Terrell’s estate. They had disappeared over the...
Willow hadn’t seen her father die. When she had heard the shots, she had headed back to the camp at a run. She had wandered further from the camp than she had first thought. It was late when they had stopped, but she had needed the exercise and had gone for a walk. By the time she got back close to the glade, she had heard her mother’s screams. The man called Harry had been trying to rip off her mother’s clothes. Her mother grabbed the hand with the knife with both of hers and stabbed it...
Vincent peered around the trunk of the tree. This section of forest was more open as it was regrowth. It still had a lot of shrubbery and short trees that were hampering his vision. He saw the man aim at him, and he quickly pulled his head back. A fraction of a second later, the shot chipped a large chunk of bark off the tree near his head. Vincent swore silently. He tried to ignore the sweat on his palms and dribbling down his back, as he heard another shot ring-out over to his left where...
Viincent hadn’t bothered with a new mistress that Winter Season. Seeing and being around Ulani again, he even found his visits to the tavern for sex had stopped. He hadn’t actually used one of the girls for months. He still found Ulani’s nearness affected him. He knew that he wanted her and was learning that her coolness was very frustrating. The problem was, he wasn’t ready to settle down and he knew Ulani wasn’t in the habit of playing around according to the rumours. He kept a careful...
Vincent shook off the memories. He sighed, and then he focused on the report he was writing. He concentrated on getting it complete. He had just finished when Paul came back with Ty. The prisoner had been conscious for a while, but Vincent hadn’t spoken to him. When he and Ty stood in front of the man, he looked at them in fear. They both knew they had developed a reputation that if they got on your trail, you would end up in prison. But the young man’s fear seemed irrational. Ty said,...
Ty was sitting in the library enjoying a drink. He was reading one of Willow’s many books. She had a whole section on Nordland and Ty was brushing up on their history, as they were the dignitaries that were coming for the Winter Season. The fields were bare, and they had already had a light smattering of snow. As soon as the product was packed into the crates, they would head to Bavindor. One of the big barns was heated, and the bags of leaves were packed flat in set weights, on the racks...
The next morning, Willow received a note from David that he needed to see her about her house. She needed to find the wedding planner and go to the auction house, so decided to visit David first. She took Prue with her and Brain drove. They were ushered in and offered tea but declined. David greeted them, “Lady Willow you look radiant today. Lady Prudence, it is also a pleasure to see you. Willow, we have a problem with the house. The agent contacted me yesterday. It was why I had to...
By the next evening, they were all established in Tah’s house. Walter had gone home and told Mary and his family of the job offer, the new company and his and Brian’s involvement. He explained the pseudo-companion reason for her to move into Tah’s house. He didn’t tell her that Prue had no intentions of marrying Tah and that it was their business as far as he was concerned. Mary had been having a hard time trying to get other businesses to take her skills serious. Walter assured her she...
Tah turned up later that morning. He had Raghu, Ulani and Grace with him. He invited Willow, Prue, Tina and the kids to an outing. Vincent said he was in, “Do want to see if Silvia and Mathew wanted to come with their kids?” he asked. Everyone agreed that would be great and he went to see what they had planned for the day. David and Leigh turned up while he was gone and they were happy to come too. Leigh sent a note to Gill and his sisters to meet them at the Zoo. When Tah went into the...
Gifted Grifter #12: Julie Whips Wall Street Our seed money now in hand, we opened up two online stock trading accounts, one in my name and one in Julie’s. To avoid the suspicion two separate accounts doing substantially similar trades might generate if noticed, we set our accounts up with different brokers. For an additional fee, we arranged for the brokers to pay estimated taxes and capital gains out of our accounts as needed, leaving us free to just do day trading. With any luck, they would...
Gifted Grifter #5: Lake Country Girls I decided to go up the lake country area for the weekend again. I put in a call to Erin, my red-haired real estate agent up there, and told her what I was looking for and at what price. The first time I had rented through her, I had seduced her using my mindreading sunglasses, but the second time she had been all business. I guess this time would be the tiebreaker. In order to have any chance at seducing her again, I figured, two things had to happen....
Chapter 6: Julie Pays the Bills, Part I For nearly a year I had been living as the Gifted Grifter, and I was getting into an established routine. I would travel to Vegas or Atlantic City under an assumed name, betting horses and sports during the day, using my mindreading glasses to pick up tips from knowledgeable bettors. At night I would hit the poker rooms, using my glasses to know what everyone else at the table had in their hands when the table stakes got big, with those advantages, I...
Ty and Willow headed upstairs after dinner. Ty made her sit on the bed beside him. “Willow, we have to discuss our relationship and how this is going to work. I know I did the wrong thing encouraging you to sleep with me. You are a breathtaking and desirable woman. But if you were to have a chance of finding a husband, it would be best we didn’t continue to sleep together. Willow looked at him, “So I’m not good enough for you is that it?” Ty rubbed his face and stood. He paced the room and...
The trip to Bavindor was relatively uneventful. They made a long carriage train, which got longer when they picked up the Dwyer’s, their five wagons and a carriage, on the way. While it was common for thieves to attack the shipments, the local robbers gave them a wide berth due to their escort. The two older members of their Growers Society also joined them, citing safety in numbers. Ty and Willow had no problems including them, as they were, after all, members of their little society and...
When Willow awoke the next morning, Ty was already gone. She sorted through the morning mail and found a note from the lawyer a Baron David Karlson, who had contacted her the month before. She decided she had better go see him before she got any busier. She told Grace she was going out. She didn’t need to be accompanied as she was just going to see a lawyer and would take Brain with her. She dressed and went to the stables to find Brain. He was happy to drive the carriage and take her to...
Ty headed to the apartment. He fumed the whole way there. He entered the apartment and went and knocked on Willow door, “Willow the King has requested your presence, I’m to take you back.” Willow yelled at him, “Piss-off.” Ty sighed and tried the door. To his surprise, she hadn’t locked it, so he went in. She was lying face down on her bed. He rolled her back onto his arm, slid the other under her legs and picked her up. She struggled, “Put me down,” she ground out. She was very upset and...
After dinner, the party made their way to the ballroom. It was already packed with the guests who hadn’t been invited to dinner. The gossips wanted to know just who had been privileged enough to be invited. Ty escorted Willow into the ballroom. She clutched his arm, “Oh my, please don’t leave me alone in that sea. I’ll get drowned.” Ty had to laugh. He pressed his hand over hers and gripped it. He smiled as he led her into the throng. He introduced her around to people he thought she...
Grace was in the kitchen kneading dough. “What on earth are you doing woman? You should be getting your beauty sleep for your wedding tomorrow.” Grace smiled at him, “I find it relaxing.” “What? Are you nervous about getting married?” he asked as he went to the icebox and scooped some slushy ice into a jug. “Yes.” “Why? Hugh loves you. Anyone can see that,” he inquired, finding himself sitting at the table and watching her as he sipped his drink. Grace finished shaping the loaves as she...
Ty woke to hear Willow vomiting into the privy. In spite of his worry about her, he had to smile in delight. Well, she did warn him. It was just as well they were getting married in two weeks. She came back out, and he lifted the blanket so she could crawl back in with him. Willow snuggled back into his embrace, and he kissed her neck and hugged her then rubbed her belly. “No need to be so damn smug, you beastly man,” she grumbled. “I love you, Willow and you will be an awesome mother. Vincent had been enjoying his time on the farm. Early in his third week on the farm, several things happened. Ulani’s shearers turned up for one. They sheared early in autumn to give the animals time to regrow their coats for winter. They were sheared again in mid-spring, so they carried lighter coats into summer. The winter coats were worth more than the summer ones. Vincent wondered if Ulani would be happy to move her flocks to his estate. He believed they could do well in the mountain...
Ulani rolled over to find a man in her bed. Vincent’s hand had been on her hip as if making sure she was beside him during the night. She watched him as he slept. She had a feeling the not too many women had experienced Vincent as she had last night or got to watch him sleep. They all said he never stayed, he always insisted on protection, and once he came, he left. He had done none of those things last night. She wasn’t even sure how many times he made love to her. He had spent a lot of...
Vincent and Ulani were going to stay at the Way Station that was half a day’s ride from the Terville’s Manor in Bavindor. They had left later than they planned from the one they had stayed in the night before. Vincent blamed it on Ulani, but she told him if he weren’t such a randy little cock, they would have left on time. Vincent countered that it wasn’t his fault that the sight of her naked had him worked up in mere moments. Ulani had to chuckle because she had to admit she had enticed...
Lord Ronald Pirelli and his wife Carol strolled down the gang plank as if they owned the ship. Captain Jamil said they had two nights and then they sailed the next morning. This suited Albert. Tonight, was to scope and tomorrow was to gamble. It had been close to a year since he was last here. Albert was hoping that his new body, look and name, would let him pass by the shadow of Allan Dale, as most here knew him. He’d managed to fleece a few dollars from every member of the crew and while...
The following year was busy for both Prue and Ty. During the Winter Season, Ty met Maria Holtan. She was a year younger than he was. He had become totally fascinated with her. Prue and Vincent didn’t like her, but Ty believed he was in love with her. Prue’s dislike stemmed from her knowing who she was. She hoped for Ty’s sake, his uncle had finished with her. Otherwise, things could get ugly. Maria had been introduced to Ty by his uncle as the daughter of Baron Holton who had a district in...
During the spring to summer terms, Prue’s little group spent less time together. This year they had to spend more time in their specialised fields. Reggie was heavily tied up with modifications of his brainchild the steam boiler and getting it on the market. He was developing a smaller steam engine that could be used to drive other machinery. Prue had become involved in Master Green’s projects of finding the best chemical combinations to make batteries for storing electricity and machines...
Prue was happiest at the Academe. About two months after Richard’s death, Reggie approached her and asked if he could talk to her in private. She now had five other women sharing her dorm, so they went to one of the private reading rooms in the library. It wasn’t unusual for them to be in one, as they still collaborated on the many different projects they worked on. Prue sat down and waited. Reggie paced a bit and then pulled a chair up in front of her. “Prudence you know I hold our...
Prue moved out of the hotel to her lodgings. She was soon immersed in work. She had planned to spend two months in each of the three Academies in Sunland, before going to Paulartica. She had been invited to spend three months in both of their most prestigious Universities. She had found that the first Academe in Sunland had not advanced as far as she had. They recommended that she went to the second sooner rather than later because they couldn’t help her. So she only spent about five weeks....
Prue had never spent a month on a ship before. It was an interesting experience. Captain Stuart Sandie helped make it very enjoyable. They took a fancy to each other about two seconds after their eyes met. She recognised the interesting look and returned it. He gave her his slow, crooked smile, flashing his white teeth and kinked his dark, thick curly eyebrow. The look made her wet. She was surprised by her own reaction. But then again it had been nearly five months since she had shared her...
Prue woke about two hours later to find herself wrapped in a man’s arms. It took her a moment to realise first, that it wasn’t Sandie, then to remember it was Tah. He was taller and harder than Sandie. He hugged differently as well. His big hand was firmly attached to one of her tits. Sandie generally hugged her waist and tended to leave a little more space between their bodies. Tah was skin to skin, and his cock was hard and jammed between her thighs. She squeezed her butt cheeks together....
Prue and Vincent arrived the first week of the season. Prue had decided living at the Palace would be okay. She could continue to use her little house as her office. She hoped Willow didn’t need her all the time as she did have other commitments. When Ty sent her a letter, saying Baron Mathew Dwyer and his wife Silvia and their two children would be housed in old Sir Todd’s apartment across from theirs, it eased her mind. They were Willow’s neighbours and friends. More playmates for Nianna...
Prue had put on a gown that had a deceptively simple cut. Her bodice was more modest as she was supposed to be a matron, even though she was only twenty-three. She joined Ty and Vincent in the sitting room. She agreed with Ty that Vincent’s new suit and height highlighted Vincent’s well-toned body. It was no wonder he had little trouble with the ladies and he was only seventeen. Ty also looked very handsome in a suit that was similar to Vincent’s attire. They all turned as Willow came out...
The next morning Willow received a note from David. He needed to see her about her house. So Willow and Prue went to see him before going to the Auction house where Willow needed to sort out the sale of her nadack. They also had to see Mr Gary Snidel, the wedding planner. Willow’s grandfather had left her his huge house. It was practically outside the gates of the palace. It was supposed to have been rented for the Season, but the family who had rented it hadn’t been able to make the...
Prue opened her eyes to find two extra bodies in her bed. She had a little arm wrapped around her neck and two little knees in her tummy. She looked down to see her daughter cuddled up between her and Tah. Tah’s arm was wrapped over Nianna to lie on Prue’s waist. Her hand was on his hip. She looked at Tah and was glad he had put pants on. His eyes opened, and he grinned at her then looked down at his daughter. “She knocked on the door a couple of hours ago, and I had to let her in,” he...
The little family headed south. They had been travelling for about six hours and were about an hour from the waystation before the border when they got into trouble. They didn’t have an entourage only the coachman and one guard. They were not expecting trouble at all when the six highwaymen surrounded the coach. Two men came out of the brush on the side of the road and shot the coachman and guard before they could draw their weapons, it was a shock to the passengers. The boss, Red, told...
James sat upright on his bed, with his legs crossed and hishands holding his head up. He just stared at the small, red notebook that lay in front of him, this mysterious gift that was granted to him. His own name was engraved on the front. It was almost like it was glowing, beckoning him to open it, to control reality even more. His mind was racing, full of thoughts of Amy, Kirsty and the words written inside the book: ‘Kirsty is going to change her mind and ask me to come over to work on the...
