"Okay, so how do we get started?"
"I've already started."
"How's that?"
"I'm now the website administrator. I have complete control of it. I've already made arrangements for Teresa tomorrow night. "So what's on for tonight? Grant asked his wife.
"Do you remember me telling you about the guy I met at the bar while waiting for my customer one night? He was there early just passing time at the bar. Grant didn't wait up. He drove over to see Dottie at the tavern she ran with Tony, the Mafia guy. It occurred to him that Dottie might want in if Olivia refused. Even better would be to get them both.
He sat at the bar and ordered a beer. Tony was serving and neither Dottie nor Olivia were in the place. Grant had a second beer, then asked Tony, "Where's Dottie tonight?"
"She's on the late shift. She starts at nine." It was eight thirty, so a half hour wait only meant another beer and then maybe Olivia would show up.
The Schlitz clock struck nine when Dottie walked in the door. "Hi stranger! Where've you been?"
He couldn't tell her the details but said, "It's been hectic around our house. I just couldn't get away."
"Well, you didn't get caught up in that scandal with the police and mayor?" and she gave him a knowing smile.
"Hey, I've been reading about it. Who would have guessed it would be our chief and mayor?"

Grant changed the subject asking, "So what have you been up to?"
"Oh, this and that and tending bar. It's been a little slow here ever since the scandal. I took a few side jobs if you catch my meaning."
He understood and started a new thread. "Where's Olivia tonight? I thought she might be here."
"She's out on a job. She ought to be back in an hour."
"Well, I'd like to talk with her. Do you think you might smooth things over so she'll talk with me?"
"I can try. It would be better if you were one of her customers."
"Hey, I already have been one of her customers. She just needs to admit it."
Dottie walked over to a man and a woman at a booth near the pool table, and took their order. After serving them, she was back with Grant. "I think Olivia is more willing to talk now that the trial is over, and she didn't get involved. I'll talk to her when she gets here."
It was late when Olivia finally arrived. She didn't look so pretty. It looked like someone had worked her over. She sat at the back table as before. Dottie gave her a drink and a hug. Awhile later she disappeared into the Ladies Room and came back looking much calmer and almost pretty.
Grant nodded his head toward her table and said to Dottie, "Go talk to her."
Dottie and Olivia chatted for a few minutes glancing over at Grant from time to time. Dottie waved him to come over and join them.
"What's this about, lover boy?" Olivia asked.
"I'd like to remind you of how we first met," and he showed her the blackmail pictures Brian had given Gail.
Olivia looked amused. "Yeah, that's me." Showing him the third picture she said, "This one's my favorite." He could see for the first time she was actually posing for the camera.
Then Grant gave them both his proposal. They listened intensely, but neither of them showed any expression. "Look, Olivia, I don't know what happened to you tonight but if you work with us, that will never happen."
"But you only want me for one night a week. I need more work than that."
"You have six other nights to be on your own. Do what you need to do on those days. Next week, I'll take you to dinner and we'll spend some time in the suite we've rented. You'll get full pay and then you can decide. Dottie might want to get your opinion as well."
Olivia just looked at her mom. "What do you think, mom?"
Dottie shrugged her shoulders and said, "Why not? Sounds great to me, so far."
