Chapter 1
Steven Thompson was your average 18 year old boy. Standing about 5 foot
10 and possessing an athletic build. Steven was attending university
doing some generic psychology course on the recommendation of his
parents, although it was looking increasingly likely that he would drop
out. The second semester was coming to a close and Steven has missed
multiple assignments and left himself with a near impossible task if he
wanted to pass the year. It wasn't that Steven wasn't bright, in fact
once he set his mind on something then he usually found a way to achieve
it, but sadly his course just wasn't interesting to him in the slightest.
He had spent the year partying, chatting up girls and pursuing his real
passion, football. Not that American game with all the pads and helmets
but real football. Steven was a decent player and had made it on to the
university starting team, despite his young age.
"So Steven, as I've explained, you won't be able to make up the credits
to pass this year."
You nodded in agreement. Sitting across the table from across the table
from Miss Hudson. The head of the psychology department was a well-
dressed 30 year old woman, despite her academic position she always
seemed to find the time to dress herself up smartly and apply some
conservative makeup.
"So I guess I should drop out then?" you asked ashamed that you had
essentially wasted your parent's money for a year of partying and
football. 'What would they say when they found out you thought? Mum would
be beyond angry you guessed and your father would simply be disappointed.
'Damn it, why didn't I just try a little harder.'
"Well not necessarily Steven, I'm actually going to offer you enough
extra credits to pass the year, if you can help me with a research
project that is?"
Perking up a bit you responded, "That sounds great Miss Hudson, what do
you need me to do?"
"Please Steven, call me Mary, I can't fill you in on all the details for
the sake of the research but it's an empathy study where you will gain
some perspective on another person's life. The project would involve you
spending a few evenings round a middle aged woman's house for a few
months at least. There are certain tasks you'll need to perform but
nothing you're not capable of. I promise."
"Well that sounds reasonable. If it lets me pass the year then I'll do
it." Inside you were jumping for joy. It looked like you had just been
offered a lifeline to get you out of all your troubles. 'I'd better make
the most of it you thought.'
The rest of the meeting was spent detailing you on what you had agreed
to. You signed countless forms and contracts and agreed that you would
spend Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday around some woman's house from 5-
10. You managed to convince Mary to let you have Wednesday's off for
football training. You were also required to meet with Mary every
Saturday morning, to discuss the week's events. You were also told that
the research was completely secret and you had signed confidentiality
agreements.
"I'm not trying to scare you Steve but you can't share any details of the
project with anyone. Do you understand?"
"Yeah, I understand, I can keep a secret," you replied.
"So I suppose we may as well get started." Miss Hudson got up from her
office chair and removed a pair of headphones from the top drawer of her
desk.
"You need to put these on and watch a quick video on my laptop Steven."
Doing as you were told you sat in her chair facing the laptop and hit
play. Rolling your eyes, when you saw that the 'quick video' was an hour
long. The video seemed to consist of mostly spirals and a soundtrack that
sounded like a psychedelic rock song from the 60s. Pulling the headphones
off you asked Miss Hudson if this was hypnosis.
"Yeah, it's some very mild hypnosis Steven."
"Well what is it going to do to me?" you queried, nervous about the idea
of being forced to do anything embarrassing.
"Well I can't tell you because that would ruin the project." She smiled.
"But don't worry, as I'm sure you've heard, hypnosis can't make you do
anything you don't want to."
You actually had heard that. Relaxing a bit you, sat back in the chair
and put the headphones on. Staring at the screen the spirals and patterns
were captivating, the rock music seemed to covering some kind of voice.
Listening closely and trying to make out what the voice was saying you
just couldn't seem to make out the message. Within what felt like minutes
you heard a voice telling you to wake up. Startled and disoriented you
looked around to see you were still in Miss Hudson's office and the video
was over.
"Ok Steven, I'll see you next Saturday, I'll email you the address
tomorrow, make sure you're not late, her name is Patricia and she's
lovely," Miss Hudson said as she hurried you out of her office.
It was at that moment you wondered if you had made a mistake.
Chapter 2
I arrived at the address Miss Hudson had given me at 5pm sharp. It was a
nice area in London although a bit out of the way to travel to every
evening. Clearly I was going to have to head there straight after
university every day to make it for 5 o'clock. Ringing the doorbell I
waited patiently wondering what kind of deal I had made with Miss Hudson.
A full figured, middle aged red haired woman opened the door, she was
dressed in a sleeveless yellow shell top and wore a pair of black capris
leggings. To say this woman was done up would be an understatement, she
was wearing thick makeup with full red lipstick and a heavy dose of eye
shadow. She had a complexion that you suspected was a result of spray
tan. Her wrists were adorned with gold bangles and she had a pair of
pearl earrings to match her pearl necklace.
"Hello love?" she said giving me a quizzical look. "You're not the boy
from the university are you?"
"Yeah, that's me, I'm meant to spend the evening with you for the next
few months I guess," you replied awkwardly still unsure of what you had
agreed to do for this woman.
"Oh wow, ok love," she said embracing me in a tight hug and giving me a
kiss on each cheek. The smell of fake tan and perfume filling your
nostrils.
"Come in," she beckoned, leading me though the hallway of her home.
I'm Patricia by the way," she said as she put a pot of coffee on.
"I'm Steve," you replied.
"I have to say I'm surprised at you, when Mary told me about her research
project I wasn't expecting a boy like you. I mean, you're so handsome!"
Blushing slightly you responded, "Thanks, I have to admit though I'm not
really sure what I've agreed to."
Patricia grinned. "Really? Well, basically you are going to learn all
about what it's like to be me and live my life. Aren't you lucky a lucky
boy?" She laughed.
With the coffee boiled she poured out a cup for me and her.
"Sorry Patricia but I don't drink coffee," you insisted politely.
Patricia grinned again as she placed the cup in front of you. "I guess
you really don't know what you signed up for. You are going to experience
being me. I love coffee, in fact I drink around 8 cups a day. That means
that you're going to drink coffee as well. Ok love?"
Sitting down at the table Patricia reached for the sugar bowl and added 2
teaspoons of sugar to her coffee. Then looked up at you expectantly.
Catching the hint you took the sugar bowl and added 2 teaspoons of sugar
to your own cup.
"Glad to see you catch on quick." She smiled. "Remember we like our
coffee black with two sugars."
Taking a sip, you scrunched up your face at the taste. You had never
liked the taste of coffee.
"You'll get used to the taste," she chuckled.
Reaching into her handbag Patricia pulled out a packed of cigarettes.
Removing her cigarette and placing it in her mouth she lit it. Holding
the cigarette between her middle and index fingers with her long red
nails adding to the femininity of the whole ritual. Inhaling deeply,
closing her eyes Patricia took a drag of the cigarette and blew smoke
around the kitchen.
"Nothing goes better with a cup of coffee than a nice ciggy," she mused
as she went to pass the cigarette to you.
"Erm, sorry but I can't smoke, I play football and it would affect my
performance."
A flash of annoyance showed across Patricia's face. "Look Steven, this is
what you signed up for, you have to experience my life and cigarettes are
a big part of my life. If you won't smoke then that's fine but this
experiment is over. Maybe you should just go home, I'll phone Mary
tomorrow and tell her it didn't work out."
"No, please don't do that, I need to complete this project to pass the
year of university," you pleaded.
"Well, if you want to continue then smoke your cigarette drink your
coffee and stop arguing with everything I tell you," she said once again
offering you the cigarette.
Reluctantly you took it and took your first drag.
"Be sure to inhale love," she reminded you.
Attempting to inhale, you went into a fit of coughing which caused
Patricia to laugh.
Don't worry love, it takes a while to get used to it she said as she
pulled out another cigarette and began smoking with you.
Hopefully I don't ever get used to it you thought. One cigarette wasn't
going to affect your performance on the pitch too much but if it became a
habit it would be terrible for your endurance.
The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful. Patricia promised that in
the coming weeks she would have some housework for me to get on with but
for tonight I just had to spend the evening watching TV with her.
Patricia had you go to the kitchen and prepare a microwaveable lasagne
for you and her. Looking at the label on the back the lack of solid
nutrition was appalling to you. As an aspiring athlete you took great
pride in eating clean nutritious food. This certainly wasn't nutritious
but you knew it was rude to complain. You made the dish for the two of
you and spooned it onto a plate. You and Patricia ate dinner in front of
the TV. Naturally Patricia had complete control of the remote, and the
evening was spent watching mostly soap operas and reality TV. You learned
that Eastenders was Patricia's favourite show and that she never missed
an episode. You couldn't have cared less about the show to be honest but
sadly you concluded that you may be watching it a lot over the coming
months.
You were insanely bored, having absolutely no interest in any soap opera.
To make matters worse you knew there was a football game on the other
channel.
Much to your chagrin Patricia had you smoke another couple cigarettes
with her as you watched Eastenders
Finally 10 O'clock rolled around and you could leave Patricia.
"It's been lovely honey, now before you go I have one last thing I need
to do."
Heading into the kitchen Patricia retuned with three patches. Asking you
to take off your jacket and pull up your sleeve. She placed two patches
on the outside of your upper arm and one on the inside.
"Wow, aren't you muscular." She winked as she felt your arm a bit causing
you to blush "You're definitely and interesting choice for this project"
Taking a roll of scotch tape she wrapped it round the three patches on
your arm and signed it with a biro.
"Right love, they're nicotine patches to help you along with the nicotine
addiction. I'll replace them every evening for you. The tape is to make
sure you're not taking them off at home. Okay?"
Alarmed at the idea of being addicted to nicotine you reminded Patricia
that you played football and didn't want to ruin your endurance.
Patricia sighed "Look Steven, I'm just following orders here, if you have
any problems you'll need to take them up with Mary. Now take care, I'll
see you tomorrow" she said giving you a hug and a kiss on the cheek
Chapter 3
When you arrived after university the next day. Patricia was waiting.
"Okay darling, I'm not going to be home every evening with you but
there's plenty of housework for you to get on with while I'm away. The
rules this week are, you must smoke 5 cigarettes a night, you have to
drink 3 cups of coffee and you have to watch Eastenders. I'll be quizzing
you about the episodes when I get a chance so don't think you'll get away
with skipping. Leave the cigarettes buts in the bowl when you've
finished. You understand everything sweetie?"
"Yeah, I understand," you replied, still not too happy about the smoking.
"I'm going to pop out for the evening, I'll be back in time to replace
your patches. You should do the laundry tonight, do a separate wash for
colours, darks and delicate. Try not to spend too long rooting around my
dirty laundry" she added with a wink.
The rest of the night was fair uneventful. You did the laundry as you
were asked, despite the awkwardness of handling this random woman's
underwear. You smoked your cigarettes, drank your coffee and watched
Eastenders. When Patricia got home she replaced your nicotine patches and
you were allowed to go home. The rest of the week followed the same
routine, with you performing housework, drinking coffee and smoking.
Peculiarly, by the time Friday came round the 5 cigarettes were seeming a
little sparse and you found yourself craving between cigarettes.
After a meeting on Saturday morning with Miss Hudson she agreed that it
wasn't fair to force you to smoke and told you that from now on you no
longer had to. Happy with how reasonable Miss Hudson was being the rest
of the weekend went well. Football training was on Saturday and in the
match on Sunday where you managed to score the winning goal. Life was
good.
Although Monday was a real drag. You realized throughout that day that
you were craving a cigarette badly but didn't want to give in and buy the
damn things. When you arrived at Patricia's house that evening, she
welcomed you in.
"So Mary tells me that you're not going to be smoking with me anymore"
she said as she removed a cigarette from her purse and lit it. You
couldn't understand how Patricia made the habit look so feminine and
sexy, but she did, she had an air of grace to her as she carefully guided
the cigarette to her lips and inhaled a deep cloud of smoke. Pausing for
a moment she exhaled, pulling a face of pure ecstasy as she released a
torrent of smoke from her lips. Your mouth was almost watering with
desire for what she was experiencing.
"I suppose it's for the best love."
"Well I was actually going to ask for one tonight. If that's ok that is?"
you asked nervously.
"What? I thought you were an athlete? Cigarettes are bad for your
performance," she mocked playfully.
"I know but I've been craving them all weekend. I just wanted one tonight
to help with the craving. Besides you're making them look so good right
now."
"I make them look good do I?" she smiled "and you want to smoke like me?"
"Yeah Patricia."
"Say you want to be like me."
"I want to be like you Patricia," you repeated hoping the woman would let
you have a drag at least.
"Ok love, you can have a cigarette but you have to smoke them like I do."
Rooting through her bag Patricia pulled out a pack on cigarettes, a
compact and a tube of lipstick.
"So put the lipstick on Steve then smoke a ciggy like me." She grinned.
"You can't be serious!?"
"I am Steve. If you want a ciggy, then do as you're told."
Realising you weren't going to get to smoke unless you met her demand you
reluctantly applied the lipstick. Pursing your lips together once you
were done. With Patricia reminding you to check your teeth in your
compact.
"Wow, I'm surprised you actually did it. But a deal's a deal. Here you
go," Patricia said as she handed you a cigarette.
Finally you could smoke, you inhaled deeply through your painted lips, an
indescribable feeling overtaking you.
"Ok love, now try to smoke more like me."
With some coaching it wasn't long before I was smoking in the incredibly
feminine manor I had witnessed with Patricia earlier. I was on my fourth
cigarette by the time I had it perfect. Each time I finished a cigarette
I would have to re-apply the lipstick and leave the lipstick coated butt
in the ashtray. It was pretty weird but you found smoking in this manor
actually made the cigarettes much better. There was something undeniably
sexual about it, you truly hoped that Patricia didn't notice the stirring
in your pants. Surprisingly I barely realised I had smoked four
cigarettes as I sat there talking to Patricia. Despite the weirdness of
the situation Patricia was quite easy to talk to. She asked plenty of
questions about how the football training was going and what my plans for
after university were. You also found out a bit more about Patricia. It
turns out Patricia was quite recently divorced and had a daughter around
my age. Once I had completed the housework I finished the night watching
TV with Patricia and smoking. You both even shared a few glasses of wine
before Patricia re-applied the nicotine patches for you. It was only
after you were half way home sitting on the bus that you realised you
still had the lipstick and compact mirror in your pocket and worse still,
you were still wearing the bright red lipstick.
