Previously on MAU - Slayers...
Before encountering the MAU, Faith and Buffy were two ordinary friends.
The alien device transformed them into the vampire slayers from the
television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They were forced to hunt
down their former friends who had become the vampires Angel and Spike.
Faith was eventually kidnapped by another MAU user named Dennis. He had
used the device to give him the ability to control people simply by
touching them. Faith was held captive for several weeks before escaping.
The event left her traumatized and she still struggles with what happened
to her. The Slayers were later moved to the Agency's Head Office as part
of the plan of one individual in the command structure of the Agency.
This man is now using Dennis as part of that plan. The Slayers were
eventually sent to detention center owned by the Agency to hold the more
dangerous users of the devices to capture two escaped vampires. Upon
completing this mission they were render unconscious. They soon found
themselves trapped in a cell and were confronted by Dennis, who has fully
recovered from Faith putting him in a coma when she escaped.

Several Hours Ago...
"I have a job for you my boy," said the man in the suit. "I'm releasing
two of the creatures from their cells. That idiot will certainly send his
two little girls to stop them."
"I assume that is where I come in," Dennis said.
"You are correct, wait for them to wipe up the mess and take them out."
He handed a dart gun to Dennis, "This should take them out for a few
hours. Put them in a cell and wait for my team to get there."
"So what do you have planned for them?"
"A few years ago we designed a little chip. Normally this would cancel
out their powers, but I enhanced it a little. Now thanks to your
abilities, I was able add the chemical that makes what you do possible.
Now we should be able to control them completely. Of course, it will be
able to control anyone. But I want them more than any of the other
freaks."
"What makes them so special?"
"Simple, I need some strong people for what I'm going to do. They'll do
just fine, plus they are able to blend in better than some of the freaks
we have in storage. I had planned on killing them. But once I realized
what you could do, I knew that it would be a waste. Now I could have the
perfect soldiers. They're amazing fighters and almost unstoppable. Once
I control them, no one will be able to stop my plan."
"So what's in this for me."
"Well I can arrange some personal time with them for you."
"Sounds good, but how long will it take for your team to reach me?"
"Not long, we can't let the Agency know about this. If anyone were to
find out, we wouldn't be going to jail. Do you understand that?"
"Sure."
"Now they should be there soon, find someplace to hide and wait for them.
We won't get another chance to catch them. But make sure Agent S does not
see you, he treats those two freaks like his fucking daughters. I guess
you can kill him if it comes to it, but make sure it looks like the
vampires did it. We can't have any of this coming back to me, everything
I've planned will be destroyed in one move. Now go my boy."

Now...
"Well, it is so nice to see you again Kelly or would you prefer Faith?"
Dennis looked down at Faith, she appeared completely broken now. She had
backed into a corner and was twisting her hair around her finger. "I've
been reading up on the both of you. The Agency has quite a record on the
both of you, but your file was the best Faith. I have so much information
on you. I saw video of you with your boyfriend, a bunch of times. Does
he even know that I was your first? At least your first as a woman. Yes,
I even know about your past Jordan. Who would have thought a little whore
like you was ever a man? Although if you ended up in that body, you
probably weren't much of one. Still, you were a good lay."
Faith looked up at him, "I'm going to kill you."
"No you aren't. In fact, you won't be doing anything that he doesn't want
you to. But you'll meet him soon enough. The team should be here soon
and you two girls will be our little remote controlled slaves."
"You won't get away with this, we know people," Buffy said.
"You mean Agent S? He'll die if he even steps foot in here. As for your
friend's boy toy, I can make him do whatever I want. Remember, just one
touch and I control him. I can make him kill Agent S if I want or I could
make him do all sort of unpleasant things to the both of you. The best
part is that neither of you can do anything to stop me. Because soon the
both of you will do whatever we want you to, without an independent
thought in your heads."
Faith started to get up, "Then why don't you stop monologging, get in
here, and try to do something about it."
"That's something coming from you. Couldn't take being a man so you
turned yourself into a girl."
"I may not be a man anymore, but I'm not a coward. You like to talk big,
but you're too scared to come in and confront a girl in handcuffs. Come
in here and get me if you're such a big man. Not that I think you're
anything more than a worm. I mean you had to control my every thought
just to get me to touch you. How sad is that? What happened? Would no
one talk to you? Or were you such a creep that every woman with common
sense fled from you?"
Dennis turned red with anger, "It isn't going to work on me."
"You know, I remember back when I was Kelly. I faked every orgasm, just
so you know. You fixed the rest of your body, I would have fixed that
bit."
"You're going to pay for this bitch."
"I doubt it little man."
He pounded his hand into the clear wall separating him from the Slayers.
Faith knew it was only a matter of time before he tried to confront her.
She had spent three weeks with him and knew him well. He hated having his
manhood insulted and she knew the quickest way to do it.
He paced back and forth, "Just wait till he gets here."
"At least then a real man can deal with us. So tell us, what is he going
to do with us?"
"You two are going to be the first soldiers for something truly great."
"Better than being your girlfriend I guess. I feel sick to stomach even
thinking about the time I spent with you. So who is this guy then?"
"Your boss."
Both slayers were stunned. Buffy backed up to where Faith was standing,
"So are you going to be his second in command?"
"Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
"Are you sure? Because if it were me, I'd get my use out of you, then I'd
have you killed. You can't have someone as powerful as you just sitting
around like that. Wouldn't you say so Faith?"
"Definitely B, I'd say your days are numbered Dennis. Not that it bothers
me much. Hey, maybe he'll make me do it since we'll be his zombie
soldiers. I did always regret not killing you when I had the chance,
maybe I'll get another chance to do it. Sorry about spoiling this for you
though, try to act surprised when it happens. But it would be pretty
funny, to me anyways," Faith said while a devilish smile spread across her
face.
"You're trying to confuse me," Dennis said as he continued to pace. "He
needs me, he needs my power."
"Unless he figured out how you do it and can replicate it, then you're
just a dangerous challenge waiting to happen. I mean, he has to think
that you'd want to take his place eventually," Faith said. She could tell
from the expression on his face that he hadn't thought of it, he never was
a smart man. She continued, "Unless you were to get the jump on him. You
could take us over and then get us to stop him. Then you could be the big
man, the one in charge. Isn't that what you always wanted? But you
won't, you just don't have the balls to do something like that. That's
why you're going to end up dead. A pawn who thinks he is the king, it
would sad if it weren't so funny." Faith started to laugh at him.
Buffy could tell what Faith was planning now, "Not much of a loss really.
Maybe if he was a real man, he'd be able to do it. But he's just a loser,
no wonder he had to brainwash you to sleep with him. R barely has to say
hello to you before you went for him."
"So sad, couldn't even pick up a drunk girl at a bar during last call. I
think I could do it now if I tried."
"Fine, I was planning to do this the whole time," Dennis said as he pulled
out a key card. He unlocked the door and opened the door. He walked
directly towards Faith, completely ignoring Buffy. He slowly reached his
hand out to touch her face, not noticing Buffy walking quickly behind him.
Faith instinctively flinched at the thought of him being so close to her
again. She silently hoped that Buffy would rescue her before he could
actually touch her. Just as he nearly touched her, Buffy grabbed him by
the head and neck. She quickly twisted both, snapping his neck. Dennis
fell to the ground, he was dead. Faith slid against the wall, trying to
avoid being near his body.
"He's dead, he's finally dead," Faith sank down to her knees. "Do you
even know how many times I woke up screaming because I thought he would
come back for me?"
"Faith, I..."
"Thanks B. You've saved me twice from this monster. I just don't know
how I could ever repay you for this. I just wish that you didn't have to
be the one who killed him."
"I had no choice, he was going to get you and we needed to escape."
Faith continued to stare at the body, "I never hated someone like I hated
him. Is it wrong to feel this way?"
"I don't know, I don't blame you."
Faith kicked the body in the side of the chest, she could hear a rib
break. "I thought I was over this, I honestly thought I could handle it
if it ever came up. But the moment I heard his voice, it all came
flooding back. All the pain, the fear, it felt like I was drowning in
it."
"But you overcame it. You tore him down, got him to come in here."
"I know, a part of me just knew what to do. At least, I know its over
now."
"Come on, let's figure out a way out of here. Then you can deal with
this."

The man in the suit's team had just arrived. Each was carrying automatic
rifles and various other weapons as if they were expecting a fight. Agent
S was watching them from a distance, he was careful not to let them see
him. He knew another way into the building, so he quietly crept towards
it while the team entered the building. As he entered the building, his
only thought was that he had to reach Buffy and Faith before they did and
get them out as quickly as he possible could.

Buffy dug through Dennis' pockets searching for a key to the handcuffs
while Faith stared at his body. "So who do you think sent him?" Faith
asked.
"He said our boss, it must be someone in charge of the Agency," Buffy said
as she dug out the key. She unlocked her handcuffs and then did the same
to Faith's.
Faith rubbed her wrists for a moment, "But why us? There are plenty of
people more powerful than us in this prison."
"None of them actually work for the Agency and most couldn't go out in
public."
"Makes sense."
The slayers heard some noises in the distance, "Must be the people he was
talking about. We better get the hell out of here," Buffy said.
"Right behind you B."
They ran out of the cell and away from the noise. The footsteps were
getting closer, so they managed to squeeze into an air duct they found in
a storage room. The footsteps went past them and they could make out them
arguing about not seeing anyone except for Dennis' dead body, then there
was something about recovering it. After a hour or so of waiting, they
heard a lone set of footprints. A person was whispering quietly, "Buffy,
Faith, where the hell are you two?" They both recognized it as S' voice.
They slipped out of the vent and crept towards his voice.
"S? Please tell me its you," Faith whispered.
S emerged from the shadows, "Thank God you two are safe. Quickly, we have
to hide somewhere. Those goons are still here, they aren't too happy
about what you did to Dennis."
They found a place which seemed to be safe. S embraced the two slayers
the first moment he got, "So what the hell happened?"
"Well we dusted the vampires and before we could leave Dennis used some
sort of dart on us. We woke up in a cell and Faith was able to trick him
into entering it. I killed him, then those soldiers came in and started
looking for us," Buffy explained.
"Dennis said 'our boss' was the one who wanted us, something about
controlling us," Faith said.
"Your boss?" S' face appeared to be deep in thought, "There was one man,
he was some high up you contacted me after I hired you two. He was deeply
concerned about me hiring two users, given how it has bitten us in the ass
before. He wanted me to send you on some mission and let you die. I
played along with it because I either trusted you to take care of
yourselves or allowed Agent R to provide backup. Then he just stopped
contacting me. I thought it was odd, but we go through supervisors fairly
quick, so I just went about my business."
"If it is the same guy, maybe he just wanted us out of the way. He has
something big planned and didn't want two Agents with the ability to stop
him. Then Dennis showed up and gave him the opportunity to use us as his
brainwashed soldiers, as well as any other Agent he wanted," Buffy said.
"So what do we do now? We either still wants to control us or to kill us.
We can't go back to the Agency now," Faith said.
"You run, run away from all of this," S said.
"And do what?" Buffy asked.
"Wait, I'll contact you when the time is right."
"What about R?" Faith asked.
"He'll stay here, right now he's the only one I can trust and I want him
beside me at all times now. I know how you feel about him. But it needs
to happen this way."
|"Are you sure you'll be safe?" Buffy asked.
"I'm never sure, but if I suspect anything we'll make a run for it. I
know more than a few ways to disappear. I used to create new identities
for people, it will be easy."
"What do we do about the goons?" Faith asked.
"Just do what you two do best," S said with a smile.
---
"I knew you would come back here one day," Bill said to the man in the
suit.
"I suppose you did," the man said as he paced around the room. "Then you
know why I'm here then?"
"I do and I'm not going to tell you a thing about them."
"I can make this very unpleasant for you."
"I've known how I'm going to die for years, I fear nothing."
"They said you had gotten like this."
"The future is too important. What happens to those girls is bigger than
you or me."
"Then what happens to them? Tell me if that is so important. It will be
funnier when I kill them."
"I've seen your death. It isn't pretty."
"Tell me now," he pulled out a gun, aiming it at Bill's head. "I will end
it all here now."
"Nothing ever ends and I'll never betray them brother."
The man in the suit fired the gun, killing Bill instantly. "Its a shame,
we used to be so close." He put the gun back in its holster and exited
the room.

Buffy and Faith walked slowly to where the heavily armed men were waiting.
S had told them they would wait at the entrance until they attempted to
leave. Given what they had heard from Dennis, whoever wanted them
probably wanted them alive. So at least they could get close to them
without them opening fire on them.
"So, you ready for this B?" Faith asked as she looked back and forth
between Buffy and the goons.
"I certainly hope so," Buffy replied. "Remember what S said."
"I do, I just hope this plan is crazy enough to work."
Buffy was a little reluctant, "Are you ready?'
"I'm not getting any younger."
Both slayers emerged from their hiding places and walked into the view of
the goons. All of them immediately aimed at the two slayers. They raised
their hands to show that they unarmed. Faith walked a little closer to
them, "We surrender."
Buffy walked besides her, "We totally do."
Two of the men walked towards the slayers with handcuffs. As they went to
put the cuffs on, both slayers spun around and delivered a high kick to
the head of both men. They were knocked out instantly, the remaining men
were stunned for a second, giving just enough time for both slayers to run
towards them. Faith punched one to in the face while kicking another.
Buffy knocked the gun out of the hands of one while elbowing one who was
running towards her. One pointed his gun towards Faith, she quickly
grabbed the gun and jerked it down as he pulled the trigger, the bullets
hit the gunman in his foot. He fell to the ground in pain while Faith
kicked the gun away. Soon all of them were either unconscious or so
injured that they were in no condition to fight. Both slayers then walked
out the front door with no resistance. They quickly realized that there
were still two gunmen waiting outside. They both took one each and
quickly rendered them unconscious with punches to the head.
"Well, that was almost easy," Buffy said.
"They were just normal guys, we're made to fight the undead. It was
almost unfair to them," Faith said as she looked around the corner for S
to arrive.
"Maybe, I just think there is something else going on.'
"Aren't I supposed to be the non-trusting, paranoid slayer?"
"You know what I mean."
"They weren't expecting a fight, simple as that."
"I guess."
S soon arrived. "I'm glad to see that you made it out alive. Now here
comes the hard part. I need to hide you two from a nationwide group that
looks for odd things and you two are very odd."
"Thanks," Buffy said.
"I mean it in a good way. Now I want you to take my car and ditch it
somewhere, I'll report it missing in two days. That should give you
enough time to hide somewhere. I would recommend moving a lot. I'll
convince the higher ups that you two got scared off by Dennis and have no
clue what really happened. I'll contact you when the time is right." He
handed them a wad of money, "That should keep you going for a while. Try
to avoid drawing attention to yourselves. The last thing we need to some
Agent finding you."
Faith looked at him, "Promise me that you'll look out for R for me."
"I need that boy Faith, I'll look out for him like he was my own son. Now
be careful, both of you and look out for each other."
"Any last advice for us, for when we get back?" Buffy asked.
"Train like you never trained before, because when I contact you I will
know exactly who we're going after. I need both of you completely ready
for this, we're going to war."

Agent S was there when the other Agents arrived. According to his story,
he had dropped off Buffy and Faith to stop two escaped vampires. When he
returned, they were gone and the body of a very dangerous MAU user was
inside the building. He told them that he assumed he had confronted them,
he was killed in a struggle, and they fled out of fear. But that he was
try to find them and bring them home. Given his service record, they
believed him.
R stopped him on his way of the debriefing, "What the hell happened over
there?"
"I'll tell you later."
"I want to know where Faith is right now."
"I'm taking care of it, trust me."

The man in the suit read over the report. Maybe Agent S was telling the
truth he thought to himself. But those girls were more powerful than he
thought, the two of them completely took down several of his best men. He
wanted them for himself even more now. He had the technology to
completely control them now, Dennis had delivered that to him. Shame he
had to die like that, but he had gotten what he needed and that is what
truly mattered to him. Besides Dennis would eventually turn on him, those
girls did him a favor. Luckily the team was able to recover something
very important from him. Now if he could get it to work properly, things
would be very interesting. Only a matter of time now he thought to
himself, then he would get exactly what he wanted. It was only a matter
of time.

Epilogue
Buffy and Faith ditched the car along the interstate and walked to nearby
town with a bus station. They wound up at some cheap motel in another
state. Buffy walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her
and saw Faith peaking out the window. "You okay?"
Faith jumped, "Umm... Sure, I was just making sure no one followed us."
"I'm sure we're fine. At least for now."
"It was just a feeling, probably nothing."
"This is weird, on the run from the men in black, hiding in run down
motels."
"Like a movie or something, I'm half expecting the terminator to show up."
"I hope S can take care of this quickly."
"No kidding."
"Maybe we should get disguises, dye our hair and wear glasses. You know,
stuff like that."
"I'd rather not. I've been through enough changes in my life. Even if it
is temporary."
"I don't think I'll ever be able to talk you into a makeover."
"I've been a girl for nearly four months, but I'm still not ready for
that. You'll notice that I'm still wearing pants."
"I thought that you just had Faith's sense of style."
"She likes leather too much."
"Give it time, besides we know you'll look great in it."
After a while both of them went to bed, Faith tossed and turned for a
while before drifting away into sleep. Soon she was walking through a
house. She had never been there before, but it felt strangely familiar.
All the doors to the bedrooms were locked but she managed to find the
living room with no problem. She looked around and found a few pictures,
one was of her and Buffy. She picked up another and it was her and R.
They were dressed like they had gotten married. This must be her future
house or a representation of it she thought. She put the picture back
down and turned around, Bill was standing behind her. "Why are we here?"
"This is your head, you tell me."
Faith got an odd feeling when she stared at him, "You're dead aren't you?"
"I am, I'm not fully aware of why I'm here. Maybe I'm part of your head
too."
"What's it like?"
"Death? Different, I can't really describe it. Besides it might not even
be really me. Maybe I'm on a cloud playing a harp right now."
"I assume that this is some prophecy."
"Sort of, this is your reward, if you succeed."
"A happy life with a dream home? I get to lead a normal life when all of
this is over."
"That would be spoiling it. But you know that you'll never have a normal
life. Doesn't mean you can't be happy though. Besides I think normal
would get way too boring for you. You aren't the 'stay at home' type."
"I guess so," Faith was a little disappointed. A part of her just wanted
to be a completely normal person. No vampires, no slaying. Just a normal
job and acting like everyone else. "So what do I have to do to get this?"
"Your test is coming soon, a small taste of an even greater challenge."
"You're vague."
"I don't like spoilers, I never could stand people who want to skip to the
end."
Faith felt herself leaving the dream, "So I guess this is goodbye then."
"I'm afraid it is for now. Good luck."
Faith vanished from the house leaving Bill alone. He walked over to
another picture and picked it up, "Hmm, she didn't even see the baby
pictures. She looks just like her."
