driving home from Jessie's cookout.
"I know you would not take light your friend's wedding day, my

Simone was right, when nervous, Kelly would turn up his joke more than

know Kelly's nerves were normal because of a couple of reasons. Her

Emily was processing her husband agreeing to being the matron of honor
at Mel's wedding. Her hubby took her advice of being open to heart.
She was just trying to make sure he did not retreat back into his
comfort zone if confronted about how wrong they were by trying to ruin
Terry's wedding. She did not expect him to charge like the Light
Brigade into anything his friends suggested.
Steve saying yes did not make sense, he never showed any inkling about
wanting to wear women's clothing. He was as clueless about woman
fashion as Inspector Clouseau was about crime. If only the lady who
was looking for answers would see it was the for the same reason she
married him, he was helping out a friend.
Em was enjoying their chat on their way home, but could not take not
knowing, asked why. Steve was as oblivious to what the question was
about as Alicia Silverstone's character in Clueless, and asked his E
what she was talking about.
Her sweetums being in the dark about the question made Em laugh. She
knew Steve agreeing to be the Matron of Honor was no big deal either
way to her man. "Why you said yes to Mel?"
"Simple my E, if wearing a stupid gown makes him happy then I will do
so. Plus, I felt it was a way to make peace with the other guys."
Emily was happy that her man was not a crossdresser. She was fine
with other people doing so, but just did not want it for her life.
She playfully said, "Stupid gown! Who would ever call those gowns
stupid?"
Steve played right back, she always complained about how stupid
bridesmaids gowns were. "Um you."
Laughing, Em said, "Oh right. I just hope that Mel picks out
something more elegant than what most brides do."

Max was coming to terms with the fact that he would be seen by people
he knew in a dress. It would be worth being a little self-conscious
about being in a dress with his wife to see Steve squirm like a man
with a thousand satin spiders crawling on him. Plus, Max knew he
would be as cool as Luke's hand compared to Steve.
Even with the man seeing benefits outweighing the cost, it did not
stop him from muttering under his breath, "I can't believe that I am
going to be wearing a stupid gown."
Rhonda could not help herself at poking fun at her husband's
predicament. She just enjoyed the humor in her straight-laced husband
wearing a pair of lace panties. She liked the idea that he would
finally have a better understanding of what a woman has to do to make
herself presentable at a formal event. In a serious tone, to add to
her joke, she said, "Stupid gown? Who would ever call those gowns
stupid?"
"You would Rhonda."
Rhonda had say those words, "Yeah, but that is for women have to wear
them, men don't."
The lady who wanted to have some fun at her husband's expense hoped he
would drop it. "Women don't have to, the bride picks them."
"Well, that is what the bride picks for us, her bridal party, to
wear."
"Well, that is what the bride picked for his bridal party to wear."
Rhonda did not want an argument with her husband, she only wanted to
get his goat. "Don't worry about wearing that stupid gown, you will
look great in it Maxine."
The man who lost one of the animals at his petting zoo corrected his
wife. He was only going to do so once, and from now on not
acknowledge her if she does not use it or an acceptable pet name. "My
name is Maxwell."
The wife, who saw this as some harmless laughs was happy that she got
the response she wanted. She put in one more cute remark just for
another giggle, "Fine Maxine, stop at Unimart on the way home. I need
to buy some cigarettes, so I do not need to run out there tomorrow"
Max was as true as the Sun rising from the East in keeping his word
and drove past the convenience store. Rhonda said, "Max, I asked you
to stop at the store."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did now turn around, so we can go there."
"No, you asked someone named Maxine. I told you that is not my name
and I am not going to turn around."
"Fine Maxine, let's just get home for you are in a bad mood. Maybe
tomorrow you will be in a better one and make this up to me by going
to up there for my smokes."
With his wife being annoying again Max did not say anything. Rhonda
misread her husband's silent treatment as him agreeing with her.
Yeah, he got mad for a moment but the wife who loved to laugh believed
it was no big deal.

Jessie and Rosey were cleaning up after the BBQ. Jessie said, "I
can't believe that I agreed to be a bridesmaid. I am going to be the
ugliest one ever."
Rosey knew that the statement her man made was not from his lack of
faith in himself. His confidence had been building up the last couple
of months. Jessie was finally able to see himself how others saw him.
The man who always wanted to do his best just was lost at how to
present himself as a bridesmaid, and that will show. He understood
that confidence in oneself is what makes a person look their best.
That was why he always looked his best with Rosey at his side. She
gave him confidence.
Rosey understood that Jessie mindset was; 'if you were going to do
something you do it right'. His point of view was what made him a
great man in her eyes. She loved that he wanted to look his best in
that gown.
"No you will not, for I am going to help you be the best crossdresser
you can be!"
When Rosey reaffirmed what Jessie already knew about her help, it
eased his uncertainty about not knowing anything about presenting
himself as a woman. Their relationship proved one saying wrong, and
made another one. It was wrong to say behind every great man is a
great woman, beside every great man is a great woman. Also, people
forget the fact that beside every great woman is a great man.
Jessie felt confident about being able to be, as Tina Turner's song,
Simply the Best thanked his wife. He knew he was lucky that his woman
not only understood, but loved and cherished that he was neurotic
enough to want be the best looking "woman" at the wedding. Rosey
loved the fact that her husband was eager to be his best even when
dressing in drag.

Lorene Hee-chul was in the dark like a photograph developer about why
her and her husband, Kim, never hung out with any of his friends,
other than Terry, anymore. Looking on Facebook and seeing that yet
again one of the guys had a little get together with her and Kim not
being invited made the woman want the picture of what is going on
brought into focus.
"Kim dear, why haven't we hung out we your friends lately?"
"We have, my Yeo-Bo."
"No we have not sweetie. It has only been Terry."
"Yeah and Terry is one of my friends Yeo-Bo."
It was only the beginning of her getting to the bottom of what was
going on, but the lady was already as tired as an old clich? about
trying to get an answer. "Don't Yeo-Bo me. I want to know why we
have not seen anyone other than Terry and Beth since the wedding."
Kim did not want to get into why he was not hanging out with his old
crew. "Well, its just been our schedule never meshed to do anything.
You know how life gets when you get older."
"Good, then I am going to invite them all over to watch the game next
Sunday."
"Don't do that, you know that I like watching the game with you. I do
not want people around for I cannot pay attention to the action."
Lorene did notice her husband had not been using 'friends' when
talking about Steve, Jessie, Mel, Max and Kelly lately. "Ok then, I
will organize a night out to the Strip District."
"Don't, and just drop it My Yeo-Bo."
"Don't butter me up by calling me your sweetheart. I want to know
why."
"You want to know? Fine, here it is. Steve pulled a prank which had
all of the guys in Terry's wedding to be dressed as bridesmaids. He
thought that was fair payback for him being bald at his wedding. He
went too far. At the last moment, while we were putting our makeup
on, he called it off. We did not mean for him to be bald, it was a
mistake. Other than Terry the guys are not mad at Steve. How can they
not be mad at him? There, are you happy?"
Lorene started to laugh, thinking of her man putting on makeup.
"It is not funny, that would have ruined the wedding."
"It is, you are mad about being one upped. I wish he would have. It
would have been funny seeing you in a gown. I hope you at least have
some pictures!"
"Quit it. This is not funny and there is no way I would show you
pictures if I had any, because of how you are laughing at me now."
"Sweetie, I am sorry. I am not laughing at you. I am laughing at the
situation. Terry and his followers being put in their place just
tickles me."
Kim for once took himself out of the male bridal party and he started
to laugh. He would have found it hilarious. It was not being put in
a dress which he was mad about, it was that Steve was able to give him
some payback. Kim felt little when he realized that he was not taking
what he gave out. "You are right, My Yeo-Bo. I will try to get the
guys over here for the game next Sunday."
Again, her paying attention to words, she was pretty sure her husband
had pictures of him and his friends in drag. Her husband was too
embarrassed to show her himself, but she wanted to see Terry. Terry
was the only one of his friends she did not like and just wanted to
gloat to herself more that Steve was able to get one over on him. "At
least show me a picture of Terry in his bridal gown."
Kim smiled and agreed. He also ended up showing her pictures of
everyone, even himself. When his wife said she was not laughing at
him, that killed him being ashamed about wearing a dress. Kim did not
want to be seen as less of a man by his wife. Showing those pictures
made Lorene see him as more of a man. He took what was coming to him.

Mikey Hull was resting after a long day at work. He was part of the
grounds crew for Mellon Country Club. He enjoyed neing and working
outside, making the golf course look as picturesque as a Rembrandt.
Today was just as draining, dealing with the members. It just seemed
like all of the golfers were in a mood as bad as the timekeeping of a
imitation Rolex. The man relaxing by partaking in his favorite vice,
eating a Butterfinger bar, just knew their mood were overreactions.
They should be more like him, being happy with what they had instead
of getting upset with not getting everything they wanted.
Mikey had a mental disability and wanted more of the freedom most
people took for granted. He knew it was for the best that he lived in
the assisted living complex, for he was forgetful about little things.
Mikey believed that if he could only get a social worker to come to
his house once a week, he could have more freedom. He knew he could
ask his brother to help him sort out the little things, like paying
the bills, but did not want to be a burden.
The man who was yearning not to have to follow all of rules phone did
a double ring. That meant it was an intra-complex call. Mikey
dreaded answering it for it for the care staff was always calling him
about eating more often at cafeteria. Mikey could cook and hated how
bland the food was, so why would he pay extra money to go eat?
Mikey was happy that it was good news instead of the normal gripes, he
had visitors coming up to see him. The two people he was going to
entertain were Mel and his fiancee Maryanne. Even with him knowing
the visit was about them explaining to him why he could not be in the
wedding, that was fine. Mel said that Mikey could be in his wedding
when they were young and the man who was finishing his Butterfinger
knew his friend could not be held to it. Mikey only brought it up to
his brother Steve to see what he had to do if Mel even remembered
saying that. Mikey was not good at remembering the little things, so
he wanted to write all of his duties on his whiteboard. Mikey did not
want to let Mel down.
Mikey opened the door and gave his friend a huge hug. Then he gave
Maryanne a huge hug also. This man was always filled with joy and
love when he saw people he cared about. He was not afraid to show it
if the other person was fine with it.
After they came in, Mikey offered his guests some iced tea. They sat
down and the host served them.
Mel started in with what the visit was about, after getting that done,
then they would spend time with Mikey.
"Mikey, did your brother tell you about how our wedding was going to
be special?"
"Yes, he said you were going to be the bride!"
"Good, so about you being in the wedding?"
Mikey wanted to get this part over with. He was fine not being part
of the wedding party. It was more important to him that he was
invited to the wedding. "I know, I am not going to be in your wedding
party for the men are going to wear dresses."
"No. I want to know if you would be fine wearing a dress to be in my
wedding party!"
Mikey wanted to be part of the wedding party more than a man with a
comb-over wanted a full head of hair. Being part of a wedding party
meant he was close to the couple and he wanted to show the connection
he had with his friends to the world. More importantly to him, it
showed that the person he had a connection to was proud to be his
friend. Mikey knew that some shallow people would not want many
people to know they were close to him. Them wanting to hide their
friendship meant to Mikey they were not really that close.
"Yes, Mel I will do anything for you! Just tell me what I need to do
to be the best bridesmaid I can be!"
Maryanne was in awe of Mikey's answer. So many times in life people
hear others say that they would do anything for someone else. This
time was different, those words were as true as Elvis Costello's aim.
Maryanne boiled down the true essence of being in the bridal party,
"It is simple Mikey, you need to be there for Mel when he needs
something, and do not look better than him in your dress!"
"Not looking better than Mel will be hard..."
Maryanne had a late start joining in with Mikey and Mel's laughter.
She did not know Mikey, so at first she thought his deadpan answer to
the question was as serious as a discussion of the social political
roles of lady in waiting in Medieval Europe's royal courts.
After the little bout of laughter died down, Mikey gave his serious
answer. He wanted to make sure that those two knew he would not let
them down. "Maryanne that is easy, I already do that for Mel is my
friend."
Mel smiled, "Good, that is settled. Now Mikey, I know you love
barbecuing ..."

After getting another bridesmaid and spending time with him, the bride
and his wife to be went to Mel's place. Mel wanted to talk more about
the wedding and Maryanne was happier than a parent watching their
child open a birthday present to oblige. She wanted their big day to
be everything which her man dreamt it to be, for he is everything she
saw in a dream man: kind, caring, affectionate, gentle, and passionate
about life. To her, a man being dolled up was them just expressing
all those traits which drove her crazy about them in their clothing.
Mel asked, "My love are we going to be matching brides, and if so, are
our bridal parties going to be wearing the same gowns?"
Maryanne gave the answer that she knew how much the bride wants the
spotlight on the wedding day, so she was actually playing with the
idea of dressing as the groom, if that was fine. The second part of
the question stumped her. Maryanne did not give much thought of who
would be in her wedding party. The lady groom knew most of her
friends would not be too keen on being in a wedding party where the
men wore the dresses. Even if her friends were as open as a bar at a
business convention about that, Mel's friends would not want to be
paired off with strangers. Other than the newest bridesmaids, they
were all married. She hoped that somehow her man's response to her
reply would inspire her in who to have by her side.
"If you want to wear a boring suit or tux, I am fine with that. I am
marrying you, not your outfit!"
Hearing the second part of Mellie Mel's answer inspired her. The
ladies who should be her Best Woman and groomswomen were the wives of
Mel's friends. They love their husbands for who they were and would
not care about them being gowns. She knew this from the get together
at Jessie's house.
"Good. With me doing that, then I think it would be fitting for your
party's wives to be my groomswomen for them, and I will get my sister
also."
"The ladies will love that."

Talking on the phone, Emily said, "Of course I would. It would be an
honor!"
Then after a pause she said, "That sounds like a great idea, ask the
rest of the girls when we are at Kim's this Sunday. I know they will
say yes. See you then and send Mellie Mel our love."
After hanging up her cell phone Emily turned towards her husband with
a smile on her face. Steve knew whatever his E had to say was going
to a pleasant surprise. Emily's grin was as big as the shock her
husband was going to get after he heard the explanation to what she
was about to ask.
"Snookums, guess who is going to be Maryanne's Best Woman?"
