found several clauses that acted like contracts and an unfolding spell
that acted in a similar way to the spell that folded the imps.
She had another demon. It wasn't an imp. This one had hundreds of modules
of Hive code, XNA for hundreds of different hive monsters.
A living ark, a walking Hive infestation of the worst type, a magzi.
Yara hosted a beachhead for a Hive invasion. Some of the Hive monsters
encoded in the magzi could open a rip.
She was married to this demon.
Yara altered the code on her coin. It now put the third demon asleep with
the others.
In theory, this meant she was completely free of demonic control for a
few seconds. Or a few minutes. How many charges did she want to spend?
During 'dance class' that morning, Yara expended a few seconds of charge
explaining what she wanted to do.
Instead of sticks, they laid out swords.
Yara couldn't touch the swords. She couldn't even approach them. Even
explaining that it was a 'dance of the knives' didn't help. She tapped
the coin. For the next three minutes, she attacked and defended with live
steel. Then she put the swords away and called for the opening stance.
The group adopted the opening stance.
Yara smiled. She tapped the coin again, just to be sure.
She still had use of it.
Success.
She needed to duplicate the spell, and craft a similar amulet for Sheena.
Yara used a bit of string and some magic to make crop circles in the
cemetery. In this way, she gathered weeds and grasses and vine. She
crafted a giant bale of silage.
They used the bale for target practice. Master Hoose provided arrows from
the Tonbridge maker. Yara could hit what she aimed at if she used the
specs. Sheena could hit targets unaided. Twenty pound pull or eighty, she
hit targets with ease. With practice, she hit small targets even with the
bow cocked at full power. Pulling the dragon-killer arrows from the bale
was difficult. Eventually, Yara learned to coax them out with magic.
They practiced rapid-fire archery, SCA-style. Yara managed three shots in
a row without losing accuracy. Sheena managed five. If she stuck arrows
in the ground at her feet, she could fire off twenty shots in fifteen
seconds. All of them on-target.
Then they hunted squirrels.
Sheena was ambivalent about that. She'd grown up on maker meat. RealMeat
was something they only ate on holidays. The first time she actually
killed a squirrel, she cried. They brought back a string of squirrels.
Sheena refused to help clean them.
At dinner-time, Sheena picked at her plate. She ate all the vegetables.
She avoided the meat.
Sheena announced, "I don't want to hunt."
"How is this different from fishing?"
"Dunno. Kind of takes the fun out of fishing, too."
"Do you think you could kill wolves, if they were attacking?"
Sheena shrugged. "Probably. Not the male ones, though." She smiled. "Not
without a coin. Oh. Um. Not sure I want an amulet if I have to charge it
up the way you do."
"You don't want a get-out-of-jail-free card?"
"Can you charge it for me?"
That evening, they unfolded Reflet's third demon in PASsport.
A succubus. Squick made introductions. "This is Ick, also known as Icky.
Icky? Reflet."
"This is not the person I know."
"Ya," Squick said. "We're in simulation."
"To what end?" Ick asked. She looked around. She smiled.
"She's trying to find a way to banish us. In the meantime, there's plenty
of fucking and sucking. And no end of creatures to infect."
At that moment, Reflet went into labor. She fell to her knees. Squick and
Squelch helped pull her panties off.
Reflet was in such distress, she didn't object when they stripped her
naked.
She pushed. A tentacle monster fell from her pussy like a baby deer.
Squick and Squelch cooed over the baby monster. They held it to her
breast.
"No, I...." Reflet stopped objecting to nursing the little monster when
another contraction hit her.
Feeding the baby monster made it grow. It also made the labor more
intense. The monster fed from one boob and played with the other. As it
grew - magically she hoped - it explored other parts of her body. Her

face. She tired of shaking her head and spitting out tentacles.
Eventually, she let it play. It treated her tongue like a fellow monster.
A friend.
In time, another ball of tentacles fell from her vagina. Then the nature
of the labor changed. Two tentacle monsters erupted from her arsehole,
blip, blop. Reflet cried out. She didn't know she could stretch like
that.
After she'd fed the last two monsters, the imps booted all four babies
out into the forest and chased them off. Then the imps came back grinning
and sporting erections.
"Get those things away from me," Reflet said as the imps displayed for
her. She picked up her sword. "I'll cut them off."
Squelch asked, "Why is it human females always have unkind words after
childbirth?"
Icky smiled. She said, "You should try it some time." She touched
Reflet's shoulder. A healing spell of some sort washed over Reflet. Icky
said, "Put your armor on, playgirl. Find me something to fuck."
The next two hours of game-play went predictably. Reflet sought out
monsters. If she didn't find them fast enough, the imps roamed off and
led one to her. If any of her familiars reduced to zero hit points, they
got monster-fucked and Reflet felt every moment of it - sharing the
orgasms and having a few of her own. If a familiar died with significant
overkill, it folded back onto Reflet's body. Sometimes Reflet won the
follow-on battle but often she did not. All three demons used her after
the monsters wandered off.
Because she was in 32-speed, two hours of real lasted for three
overnights in the game. The demons were poor sentries. They let in any
monster who wanted to fuck. Sometimes Reflet woke up to a combat rape. Or
to a gang rape.
If there weren't any monsters, she woke up to a gang-bang with her demons
and then an orgy. The succubus was a part-time futa. She had Reflet in
all three holes. Then she fucked the imps. Or let them fuck her.
After the second night, Reflet said, "Let's go to the city."
"I thought you didn't like zombies," Squick said.
"Yeah, but I have neighbors. Maybe you guys will let me sleep."
Reflet filled Yara's coin with charges.
She was pregnant again. On the way to her apartment, she stopped by
Diogenes Alley and bartered with Ugmad the mage.
Valentine was fucking expensive, but yes, it would prevent Hive
pregnancies. However, it would only work if she could avoid getting
pregnant long enough to take it every day for a few days in a row.
After the game, Yara examined the code for valentine. She could grow it
here in the real. She could also mass-produce it in any medical-grade
maker.
The license fees per pill worked out to more than three hours of pay at
minimum wage. The pills were gene-engineered seeds, heart-shaped, a
modern recreation and improvement of a plant that went extinct in Roman
times.
Yara asked for, and got, seeds to plant in Master Hoose's window-
planters. He acquired a license to grow valentine.
Then she spent the night figuring out how to code daily doses of
valentine into her coin.
Master Hoose wheeled Steve's motorcycle into the carport that night. With
it, he brought personal effects that Jas's friends had abandoned at the
motel room. It included the clothes they had been wearing, Steve's
wallet, Melissa's purse and also Sheena's purse.
Master Hoose said, "I believe they were abducted from the motel room."
Sheena nodded.
Master Hoose smiled grimly. He said, "It might be helpful to send a
forensics team to the motel."
Athan asked, "Did you break quarantine?"
"No."
"I can't send these people there." Athan indicated his fey workers.
"...Without breaking quarantine. Perhaps you can message the Queen?"
Everyone looked at Yara.
"I can." She actually probably could. She'd learned how to open a rip. In
theory. She'd decoded portal spells in Green, in Red, and in Hive code.
She knew how to call fish now, and probably could call a bird and print a
message onto it, sending it on its way. Except that she had no idea where
in the Green she could find the palace. Or the Queen. Difficult to send a
message, if she didn't know where to send it. Yara chose her words
carefully. "I could open a way to Red territory. One of us could carry a
message to the Queen."
Athan asked, "Why not send a message directly?"
Brother answered. "The Queen closed the ways. She cannot defy her queen."
Yara released the breath she was holding. She'd guessed correctly.
Onsei volunteered to go. Yara considered the message she should send. She
wrote it in Green script.
This person has no status in the Green Court, nor in any fey realm.
Please accept my messenger, who does have status. The Red Court is
working with the Hive to seed one or many realms with the bodice I
inhabit - and at least one other body. I humbly request that the Queen
send a forensics team to investigate the abduction of human companions of
a champion. It seems likely that an imposter, posing as your daughter,
abducted these humans from their home plane. Alternately, you could re-
warrant passports, allowing a local team to bypass quarantine.
Yara folded the paper and handed it to Onsei. He glanced at it briefly.
"Shouldn't you seal this, Lady?"
"With my seal?" Yara laughed. "Thank you for the reminder, but, no. Hang
one." Yara pulled down her script-kiddie spells. There wasn't anything
there labeled Seal.
Secure Message.
That might do. Yara applied the spell to the message. She examined the
paper. It was now encrypted. Or confused. Oh, wow. It also provided space
for a seal. Yara applied the sigil that Morgana had taught them while
gaming.
"There isn't anything here that you don't already know," she told Onsei.
"Speak freely. I won't claim to have no secrets but I wrote none of them
here."
"This is a Gray seal."
"It is."
"Are you now a Gray?"
"No." She laughed. "Morgana stands between me and my fate. I send this in
her name."
It occurred to Yara that she also knew the sigil of the Red Witch. It was
embedded in all of her work. She wondered what Onsei's reaction would be
if she used that seal.
"Last chance," she told Onsei. She spoke in the language she understood
as Green. "I don't know where in the Red Lands this will send you."
"Open the portal, milady."
"Godspeed," Yara said, in English. She opened a rip.
Onsei looked at Yara, puzzled. He stepped into the Red Lands, desert
scrub, from the looks of it. Tumbleweeds. Yara watched him for a time.
When he disappeared from view, she closed the rip.
It was a long walk back to the cabin.
That night, Sheena brought Yara a locket. It had a picture of Steve
inside it. "I'm trusting you with this," she said.
Yara crafted it into an amulet like hers. She transferred half her
charges to Sheena's amulet. Then she bozo'd instructions on its use onto
Sheena's specs.
Yara dosed herself with valentine that night. She encouraged Sheena to do
the same.
