"Can we start over, Witch?" Sherrie asked, her face showing an earnest
expression.
"Start over, like how?" Maggie shrugged her shoulders, looking around the
small coffee shop where Sherrie had asked to meet her. They were the "NEW"
places to be, but if anything, Maggie felt out of place with the crowd.
"Look, I don't know if you heard, but I got thrown out of the fucking band
too," Sherrie explained. "Catalina decided that they really didn't need a
bass player, and Mike agreed with his fucking dick and kicked me out."
"That sucks." Maggie sipped at her mocha, looking out the store window at
the snow frosted streets outside.
"So I was thinking, why don't we get together. I mean, every fucking gig we
did after Halloween, somebody would ask where you were. It really pissed
off that Mike, that fucking asshole." Sherrie smirked at the last comment,
"And anyway, I was getting pretty fucking sick of doing covers of
Metallica."
"So, like start a new band?" Maggie asked, "A bass player and a guitarist?"
"Well, yeah, we'd some more members. Fuck yeah. I've got a few friends
though," Sherrie affirmed.
"Yeah, I could talk to some people." Maggie immediately thought of Mallory
and the other girls on her hall. She recalled that one girl on the other
end of the hall played keyboard. Not very well, but maybe she would work as
a minor backup until they found someone better.
"So, you want to do this? I mean, shit, you're a great draw. Better than
me at any rate." Sherrie shrugged, her hands tapping at a pack of
cigarettes she had pulled from her pocket. "Hey, uh, you mind going
outside? The fuckers won't let me smoke in here."
They moved outside, into the January chill. The contrast to the heated shop
was noticeable, and Maggie pulled her winter jacket tight about herself.
Sherrie lit up a cigarette, taking a deep drag, before she continued.
"So I was thinking. You're a draw. I mean, nothing personal, but you're
fucking hot." Sherrie smiled at the last comment, running her fingers
through her shoulder length dark hair. "So we put your name out there, as
the lead, and we just play backup."
"But..." Maggie began to object.
"Fuck that shit, Witch. Yer the reason people will come to see us. Hot
chick, can play the guitar like a monster, and actually sing too."
The singing ability had actually come as a bit of a surprise to Maggie. Her
voice was much stronger than it had been as a male; more suited to her style
of playing.
"Well, ok. Uhm, you want to meet this Saturday, with whoever we can get?"
Maggie asked, then her face took on a mischievous tone, "I'd do it during
the week, but I've got a test on Friday."

"So, I can come to your show, right?" Mallory asked, her legs swinging as
she sat on the edge of the bed.
"Got five bucks?" Maggie smirked, finishing up her practice for the
afternoon. One hour a day in the dorms was less of a torture now, since she
had her bi-weekly rehearsals to look forward. True, getting the band
together had been more of Sherrie's forte. Maggie felt a bit "along for the
ride."
"Aww, c'mon. Maybe I can pay you another way..." Mallory grinned at
Maggie, winking softly.
"Not cool." Maggie groaned, her stomach making the same twist that it
always did whenever Mallory flirted with her. Despite her earlier comments,
Mallory seemed to delight in tormenting her roommate. "You know that uh..."
Maggie broke off, unable to think of a diplomatic way to end the comment.
"Awe, what? Does it drive you WILD with desire?" Mallory snickered,
leaning back on the bed and stretching.
"Ok, knock it off," Maggie sighed, stowing her equipment.
"All right. It's just too easy to get you riled up..." Mallory laughed,
moving to the door of the room. "I'm meeting Beth for dinner anyway. Catch
you later, babe." She smiled again, blowing a kiss in Maggie's general
direction. With that, she left, leaving Maggie standing alone in the room.
"And now I'm horny again," Maggie said to the empty room. She could feel
the excitement in her body from Mallory's little show. Her mind knew that
Mallory was just teasing her, but somebody needed to forward the memo to
every other cell in her body. She felt so warm...
"Goddammit," her voice growled. She suddenly felt close to tears. So
frustrated. Why was she being teased like this? She flung herself facedown
on the bed, breathing heavily.
Because she can tease you like this, her mind answered. Mallory likes the
attention that you give her when she flirts with you.
She rolled onto her back, looking up at the ceiling. She yearned, ached,
wanted to be touched. She moved her hand across her chest, stroking softly.
The soft tingle that the contact brought was welcome, helping her clear
away the thoughts of frustration and depression.
She inhaled, rolling her head against the pillow. She stretched her body
out, reveling in the feelings. The warmth in her body began to feel
concentrated, lower.
Her hand lay against her stomach, softly touching. She gripped softly,
pulling the fabric upward. As it came away, she lay her hand against her
belly, softly stroking. It felt good.
Maggie felt her pulse quickening, biting her lip gently, and was amazed at
how even the small pain was arousing. She felt an urge to go further, to
truly explore what this meant.
Unable to resist further, she pushed her last vestiges of fear into the back
of her mind. She slipped the tips of her fingers below the waistband of her
jeans. They proceeded down, touching the soft hair of her body, before
coming into contact with the source of the strongest feelings.
Her hand stroked softly, touching herself exactly where the desire to be
touched resonated most strongly. Further and further down. She loosened
her jeans with her free hand, giving herself better access. The heat was
growing, spreading across her body.
Her finger slipped down, and for a moment she felt far too vulnerable. And
then the moment was past, and she felt her own intimate caress. Inside her

Her mind flashed to Mallory, the curves of her body. Remembering that brief
embrace, the heat of their contact. She imagined it going further, her hand
coming up to cup Mallory's face. Her lips meeting hers for a slow

Her motion became faster, more frantic. Her breathing became labored, as

contact. She knew where she was going, but the actual moment caught her
totally by surprise. A paralysis that seemed to strike every tendon in her
body, mixed with pleasure that coursed across every nerve she possessed.
She moaned softly, her body jerking unsteadily, as she gasped, lying back on
the bed.
"Holy shit..." she gasped, looking down at herself with an astonished stare.
She could scarcely believe how afraid she had been of this act. Such
long, unreasoned fear.
Maggie slowly rearranged her clothing, feeling the heat still pulsing
through her body. Her hand came up to rub across her face, and she enjoyed
the sensation.
A few minutes later, she composed herself fully, rising off her dorm room
bed. She looked out the window, at the fields of melting snow that lay
across from the dorms.

"No new covers?" Sherrie asked, a bit incredulous.
"None. Look, you're the one who insisted that the band be called 'Witch
Fletcher' so I think I can exercise a little creative control." Maggie's
voice was firm and insistent. She was no longer confident of her ability to
remember the dates that songs came out. As a result, she was deathly afraid
of stealing yet another song from an established artist.
"You're fuckin' crazy. We've got that Pearl Jam one down pat," Sherrie
replied, looking at the three college guys who made up the remainder of the
new band. Maggie didn't know them that well, just their names of Larry,
Trevor, and Seth. They were a result of two months of searching.
Larry was a member of Sliced Bread, a local garage band. They hadn't had a
gig in months, and Larry was still nominally their drummer. However, he was
not above moving out to other pastures, and had enthusiastically joined the
new band. He was short, and reveled in it, constantly making jokes about
"the weather up there" to Maggie.
Trevor was a keyboardist. The girl in Maggie's dorm had only lasted a week
before she complained that it was too hard. Trevor had been a quick
replacement, being a friend of Mallory's. However, he had been an
exceptional choice, seeing as the few chords that he could play were the
right ones. Every time. Slightly nerdy, but with an friendly grin, he was a
welcome sight at auditions.
That left Seth, who was a rhythm guitarist, late of Oedipus and the Mama's
Boys. The band had folded not long after the new year, due to two members
of the band flunking out. A tragic turn of events to be sure, but it left
Seth with no band and a hell of a lot of free time on his hands.
None of the other members jumped to Sherrie's defense, so she continued.
"Look Witch, people want to hear the new stuff..." Sherrie began, before
Maggie cut her off.
"Then let 'em turn on the radio. I don't want to play it," she abruptly
spoke.
"Ok, whatever..." Sherrie growled "But the first fuckin show that nobody
shows up at, we switch back to doing current covers."
"Done." With the agreement sealed, the band went back to rehearsal, this
time working off a few older pieces that Maggie had grabbed earlier from the
school library.
Later, as they were leaving the garage to Sherrie's house, Maggie walked up
to her.
"Hey Sherrie?"
"Yah?"
"Where's a good place to get a tattoo around here?"
"Heh? They won't do one for you." Sherrie looked at Maggie with a
appraising eye. "You're still only a fucking sixteen year old, right?"
"Seventeen last month," Maggie smirked. "And I've got a fake I.D."
"You sure? They're pretty fucking permanent."
"Yeah, I've got this Idea..." Maggie dragged a sketch that an art major
friend on the hall had done for her out of her music folder. It was an
image of the Mandelbrot set, a graphic interpretation of a fractal equation,
done in swirling colors. It looked like a large heart, upended, with
smaller circles radiating from it. The top of the tattoo extended out into
a Fender guitar neck.
"Awesome," Sherrie noted, looking at the sketch. "Yeah, I know a guy who
can do that for you. You want me to go?"

It felt like a goddamn sunburn, Maggie reflected, looking down at the
stylized guitar off center on her stomach. At least Sherrie had been there
to walk her through the process, and to act as a bit of a chaperone. It had
been a good thing too, since there had been nothing but heavily tattooed men
in the parlor where she had the work done.
One week, and fortunately, the pain was lessening. What had really been a
bitch was doing the Kappa house party with it. The guitar she was playing
had constantly rubbed against it, and the effect was distracting. Overall,
it had been a good show, and a welcome return to the music world. She had
worn a stomach revealing shirt for the first time, and had been a bit
nervous about it. However, the response was not as intimidating as she
feared, and the April weather had allowed for it.
She walked to her dorm room, feeling rather good for a change. She had just
completed yet another day of classes, and had actually responded nicely to
the occasional male who attempted to flirt with her. She thought it was
rather funny actually, how earnest they seemed to be. It was rather
flattering, especially since the vast majority of opening lines had to do
with her musical skills rather than her body.
She opened the door to her room, and just as immediately shut it. She had
caught a vision of Mallory, naked, and in bed with a male. There was a
quick flush of anger, and what she later realized was pure jealousy. She
swallowed, then turned to leave.
"Maggie?" Mallory's voice from the cracked door was quiet. "It's my
boyfriend, ok? I'm sorry, I should have told you he was coming, but I
forgot."
Maggie looked back to see her friend, a sheet covering the small amount of
her body that was visible.
"It's ok. It's not like the fifteenth time..." Maggie smiled, realizing how
fake it seemed. Her face was flushed, and she was breathing rapidly. She
had a sudden urge to kiss Mallory, but forced it down. Why was she getting
turned on?
"Can..." Mallory looked over her shoulder, giving a grin to whoever was in
there with her, "Can you come back in about an hour or so?"
"Sure..." Maggie replied, and watched as Maggie shut the door. Unable to
resist, she moved to the door and pressed her ear against it. Within
moments she heard Mallory's voice in an unmistakable cry of pleasure. She
pulled her head away from the door and proceeded down the hall to the tv
room, to try to calm herself. The feelings of arousal were still there for
Mallory, even more so now, if that was even possible.
She flipped through the channels, trying to find anything to salve her
aching mind. Every channel seemed the same, just as they always had.
Unable to find anything, she pulled out several books from her book bag and
attempted to do some homework. That too was a failure as she kept imagining
Mallory, naked under her...
Finally, it had been more than an hour. She returned to her dorm room,
knocking this time. When Mallory answered the door, fully dressed, she
almost felt disappointed.
"Thanks Maggie." Mallory leaned close to Maggie, giving her a friendly
squeeze. It was driving Maggie crazy, but she did her best to keep from
showing it.
"No problem. Did uh..."
"Did I have fun? YES." Mallory grinned, shutting the door after Maggie.
"So, your boyfriend?" Maggie asked, sitting on her bed and grabbing a book.
Anything to keep herself distracted.
"Yeah. He's over at Wazoo," she replied, using the local slang name of
Washington State University, merely a small drive away.
"That's nice..." Maggie replied, trying not to look at Mallory. If she
even suspected how Maggie was right now, she would be probably be teasing
her mercilessly.
"So, when you going to have a guy up here?" Mallory asked. "I mean you're
seventeen now..." She grinned wickedly at the last comment.
"I'm not really..." Maggie broke off, remembering how she had stared at the
male bodies during the last fraternity streak. They had been so strong, so
attractive. She remembered wondering what it would feel like to have one of
them...
"Sure, you're not. Your name's Witch, but I think I may need to change it
to NUN." Mallory laughed at the last comment, booting up her computer.
After a moment, the sounds of a modem connecting ran through the room.
Maggie wished that she could be anyplace but here right now. She couldn't
play again today, she was horny as hell, and had already taken two cold
showers, which hadn't done anything for her except ramp up her desire level.
Add to that the scent of arousal that was still present in the room...
Maggie did the only thing she could at the time. She excused herself, went
to the payphones, and called her mom. The conversation was brief, but she
noted with happiness that her mother seemed more confident, and Elaine was
bubbly.
She returned to her room again, this time noticing with shock that Mallory
had changed into merely a t-shirt and thin cotton panties. Her pulse
quickened again, and she turned to leave.
"Hey Maggie." Mallory turned to observe her friend, a quizzical expression
on her face. "You know what really sucks about good sex for me?"
"No..." Maggie asked, her gaze running over Mallory's body. She took it
all in, wanting so desperately to touch; to kiss her.
"It always makes me want more," Mallory said quietly, taking several steps
towards Maggie.
The silence in the room was thick, Maggie hearing only her breathing, and
that of Mallory. She wanted to let the moment last for an eternity, her
eyes lost in the form and shape of her friend. She wanted her. So badly...
"What... What about your boyfriend?" Maggie asked, her chin trembling, as
she looked at Mallory, merely a foot away.
"What about him?" Mallory grinned, a look of pure lust on her face. Before
Maggie realized it, Mallory had pulled her close, her hands sliding along
her back.
Maggie opened her mouth to speak, but as she did so, Mallory pulled her
closer, her lips meeting Maggie's. The kiss was soft, but insistent.
Mallory moved her lips gently against Maggie's, her body grinding against
her.
The feeling was soft, but warm and welcome, as Maggie lost her self in the
kiss, in Mallory's arms, and finally, they lowered themselves to the
floor...
