The truck lurched backward only to smash into Brad's car causing Becky's head to hit the window behind her seat. For a second she saw stars. Then the door to the truck was ripped open and she saw Paul's demonic face leering down at her. "You thought you could escape me Brad! You even stole my true love's face, but I'd know you anywhere! Now it's time to do something about that face!" Becky tried to scratch Paul's eyes but she was dazed and he blocked her easily. The backhand from Paul caused her to black out. The next thing Becky knew she was sitting on the floor in a small silvery room. Then she looked up in time to see Paul's long demonic arm reach above her head to touch a purple crystal. A bright white light flared momentarily blinding Becky. When the door opened, Becky, in desperation surged forward using her shoulder to hit Paul in the side where her bullet had injured him. There was a scream of pain as Paul fell back. Then Becky was by him, once again climbing over the wreckage of the door to her bedroom. When she got to the living room she turned to face Paul and realized that her body was very different. When she glanced down she saw that she was wearing the fairy knight costume Brad had been wearing earlier. "He turned me into Brad!" Becky exclaimed. The widows and wall couldn't stop the momentum of four thousand pounds of car traveling at twenty five miles an hour. The car continued into the house catching Paul and driving him backward into the wall. The driver's door opened and Becky saw Brad struggling to climb out. Becky glanced down and felt shocked to realize she was fine. The car and the debris had missed her completely. She hurried over and helped Brad climb out. "Becky?" Brad asked looking up at her. "Yeah, it's me," she said. "Paul thought I was you so he changed me into you." As she spoke Becky caught the scent of gasoline, "I think we need to get out of here." "He's dead, right?" Brad asked, fearing coloring his feminine voice. "I don't know. If he were himself I'd say yes. But I don't know what he did when he created that body. I think we need to get away." Suddenly flames burst from under the far side of the car. In a matter of seconds the far wall was covered in flame. Becky took Brad's hand and dragged him to the hole the car had smashed in the front of the house. Beck then put both hands under Brad's arms and lifted him through the whole and then followed him out. By the time they were clear the whole living room was engulfed in flames. Then there was a roar of rage and a figure stumbled into the inferno. His back was on fire and by the twisted way he was dragging a leg it had to be broken, yet he struggled forward. "BECKY!!" Paul's anguished bellow felt like a knife in Becky's gut. Then the roof collapsed burying Paul in a mountain of burning debris. In seconds the rest of the house was on fire and both Brad and Becky had to move back away from the intensity of the flames. Then Paul's truck exploded followed by Brad's car. They were barely far enough away to avoid pieces of flying metal as the night was filled with fire. *************** By the time the agents arrived the fire had been put out and the sun had crested the horizon. Police and fire fighters were climbing through the ruins, but were kind enough to direct them to the bedraggled looking couple. They were holding each other sharing a blanket and at first glance appeared to be in shock. The Morphic Adaption Unit was nowhere in sight and the agents already suspected it was buried somewhere in the rubble of the house. "Excuse me, Miss was that your house?" "It was my house," the man said looking up. "Oh, I was told that the house belonged to a Rebecca Thompson," the agent said, looking back and forth between the couple. "It did," the man replied in an emotionless and exhausted tone. Rather than look confused the agent just nodded.
