Bobbie and Nicole find their foes and a surprise.
Nellie walked in and sat down at Murphy's Law Tavern.
Nicole was working she just served two regulars down. She ordered a
cola. She looked at Nicole with some fear. She said, "Nicole, I have
this problem. It is about a friend of mine. She knows of the jokes
going on. Yet she knows there is one person if he took it the wrong way
or was hurt really bad, he could close the school. ' Little Mother '
what does my friend do?"
Nicole said, "Give me a couple of minutes. This is heavy duty. Uh do
you want some wings with your drink? I know you are over 21."
Nellie said, "O.K. and can you put a shot of Stoli in here please?"
Nicole rang up the drink order and said, "The wings are on me." Nicole
used the time of cooking the wings to think a way to answer Nellie. She
knew she could not say, tell me all and I will cuff'em and stuff'em.
When the wings were ready Nicole placed them in front of Nellie and had
a beer in her hand.
Nellie was nervous and wanted to light up. "Nicole is there a place to
smoke?" asked Nellie.
Nicole said, "Murph! I got a gal with a boyfriend issue. I will be on
your back deck with her. Can you cover for me?"
Jack Murphy said, "Sure ' Little Mother '. Go help one of your '
kiddies '." (Murphy knew of the students asking Nicole for help and
would go along with it.)
Nellie said, "Boyfriend issue?"
Nicole said, "It was faster than to tell him you know of person who is
going to raped or sexually assaulted. If you or I told him, he will
call some of his old buddies and may blow this. Tell me and I can stop
this."
Nellie asked, "What can you do?"
Nicole said, "I can call in the Marines. Now what is going down and I
will tell you that you maybe called into court as a witness."
Nellie said, "Nicole you sound like a cop."
Nicole said, "Nellie, the time has come for me to tell you the truth. I
already have my college degree in criminal science. I work for the
Salem County Sheriff's Department. I am here on assignment with the
Cayuga County Sheriff's Department. I was sent here by a request of a
clinic that deals in sexual abuse. Work with me and I will see that no
harm comes to you. If you don't help me, then I may not be able to help
you. There is one thing I never lied to you about. I do think you are a
great friend. If you will agree to what I have said just hug me."
Nellie asked, "Why the hug?"
Nicole said, "The joker who set up my cover made me act gay and smoke
cigars. I like the cigars but I am not gay. Besides a hug from a friend
and roommate would be nice."
Nellie said as she gave Nicole a hug, "Thanks 'Little Mother'." Then
she told Nicole all that she knew.
The Wellman Clinic at the same time
Wild Bill came to my office. He said, "I just got an invite from Scott.
He wants us to come up and do some salmon fishing. Are you up to it
Belle? You do need break."
I said, "That sounds like fun. What is the catch?"
Wild Bill said, "There is none. He did tell me Bobbie and Nicole are on
to something big. He thinks your skills will be needed."
I said, "That bad?"
Wild Bill said, "Yes it is. He also told me to see if Barry, Larry,
Hedi, and Helga can come. He thinks Bobbie and Nicole will need to see
friends and family. I warned him of Ziller and Kong. He said bring them
along. His place has the room."
I said, "I just got an update from Bobbie and Nicole. They are planning
a strike three days from now. I know of one student who is who is a
target. We must be there. Hedi will be needed in her job capacity.
Nicole has hit the mother lode. The rest of our crew are needed for
moral support. Make the calls. We roll in four hours."
Wild Bill said, "The brewery is on a maintenance shut down. So Larry is
free. Barry told me earlier that Roxanne could watch the twins. I can
order Hedi within her role as a Wellman legal advisor. Helga will go
anywhere with Larry. So let's get packed and on the road."
On the road again.
We drove to Oswego in two cars. Barry, Larry, Hedi, and Helga went in
Barry's Mini Van. Ziller and Kong rode in the cargo area. Kong traveled
well for a cat. Wild Bill and myself rode in my Durango. In the cargo
area was a large cooler. I knew Wild Bill packed a good lunch.
We arrived at Scott's place in short order. Scott greeted us all. Larry
put Ziller outside and Kong went to the nearest bathroom and used a
toilet. Larry taught Kong that trick. We caught up on old times over
pizza and wings. Hedi had just remembered two people she knew in this
area. She asked, "Uh Mr. Scott. Can I use your phone to place two
calls? They are to two people in Cayuga County that might be an aid to
us."
Scott said, "Sure thing lass. Who might they be?"
Hedi said, "Judge Martian Van Buren and D. A. Thomas Dewey. They will
need to know if Sheriff Sterling did not tell them already. I knew them
when I clerked near here after Law School."
Scott said, "Good thinking lass. Even if they know, it will nice inform
them of this new development and your plans."
