Chapter 27 -- The Day in Public Starts Off in a Light Vein and Then Gets
Even Better
Wow, this was it. The three members of the "Booster Day Team" piled into
Randall's van and headed out to Disneyland. They were already in costume.
Janie had convinced the boys that pink fingernails would guarantee their
disguises would work, and each of them now glanced often at their hands
to see the marvelous outcome. Janie had even convinced Randall that he
should wear ("just for the day" and to complete his disguise) her Reebok
panties that matched "her" bralette. She hoped that the set would soon
become "his" bralette and panties. Sharing her wardrobe with Randall had
been her longtime dream, and maybe it would become true now. Eliminating
any and all of his separate wardrobe was the ultimate goal.
The boys were apprehensive, even scared to tell the truth. The were
exposing themselves to maybe a thousand or more Disneyland attendees,
dressed in women's garb from head to toe. Granted they were in costume
like hundreds of others would be that day, but they were anatomically
male and knew the downside of being discovered as the boys they were,
could result in the utmost humiliation. Janie had reassured them that
other boys did it all the time, for instance dressing as Minnie Mouse
rather than Mickey, but that meant wearing a fake head that completely
hid their faces. Jimmie and Randall's faces would be evident, in lipstick
and blush, and Randall wasn't even wearing a wig, so he really looked
just like himself. It was frightening deep down, and a sober mood
suffused the van.
But then, Jimmie to the rescue. He tried telling a joke about Mickey and
Minnie, who supposedly were engaged in a heated argument over something
Mickey had said to Minnie:
"So Minnie snaps back 'Mickey, you should be ashamed -- you just claimed I
was crazy. That's not true and you know it.'
"Then Mickey retorts 'I didn't say you're crazy. I said you were fucking
Goofy.'"
It took a moment to sink in, and then Randall and Janie both laughed
uproariously. They all relaxed and once again looked forward to their day
at Disneyland.
And such a day. They got admitted through the employee entrance without a
hitch and were soon mingling with the crowd. Girls and boys approached
them to ask if they would pose for pictures together. Somewhat strangely,
it appeared that the boys preferred to pose with Tinker Bell and the
girls with Snow White. Perhaps for the girls it was to appear like
Randall did in an enthralling prom dress, with a modest bosom to boot,
and for the boys it was to appeal to a sort of "pixie girl" like Jimmie
did in his leotard. Despite Jimmie's modest genital bulge, no parents or
others intervened in the children's requests for pictures. Janie even
speculated that some parents, hipper than others, wanted a picture of
Jimmie's gleaming smooth legs right up to the waist, associated with his
barely disguised male equipment. This was an adventure to be repeated.
All three could agree on that.
A fourth person was present, who wholehearted agreed with the three of
them. Unbeknownst to the Booster Team, Ms. Butler had also attended
Disneyland that day to observe the experience (or maybe "experiment"?).
She didn't want to interfere with what unfolded that day, but dearly
wanted to witness it. The thought of her Jimmie exposed in public in a
revealing pink leotard was just too much. Janie had told her what the two
boys would be wearing. Now, the sight of him, his tiny "package" on
display, and posing innocently with children in his girly getup, was
pleasing beyond measure. How had her move to the Echo Park Branch, turned
out so well -- so fulfilling?
She herself was costumed beautifully. She wore a "BABY style" Lolita
outfit that she never wore to work, the better to minimize recognition by
her three staffers that day. It exposed her legs a bit, but the overall
effect was "over the top" young girlishness.

She was asked, mostly by girls dressed as Lolita, to pose with them, and
tried her best to arrange the photos to include Randall or Jimmie in the
background. Then, she realized that there were Lolita-inspired males
among the crowd. Some were more or less convincing as females. She
focused on them, especially those with the slimmest legs, and arranged
"whole body" photos on her phone that showed the two of them in ultra-
girly getups.
Separately, she puzzled a bit over her enjoyment of the day when, really,
Jimmie was not under her strict control for once and was following
Janie's direction instead. Maybe there was room in her world to share him
with other forceful women, sort of like the "sharing" that was defacto
already occurring with the consignment shop's owner and her manager, who
had guided Jimmie to his current "look" -- his Japanese tween girl hairdo
and his increasingly feminine work wardrobe. Yes, this she could permit,
and she looked forward a potential "alliance" with them. This sounded a
bit like going to war, or maybe "going to the mattresses" as they put in
"The Godfather" movie.
By the end of the day, Randall had clearly dominated as the most
successful disguise. He had grown comfortable posing with the young
children and most enjoyed taking a set of pictures -- certainly one
standing to show his prom dress to best effect but, if he could wangle
it, at least one other crouching next to the boy or girl with his hem
pulled up "modestly", but enough to display some of his hose-covered legs
above the knees. Turns out, a happy Randall is a shameless exhibitionist.
Janie, in her brown Pocahontas costume, barely registered on the
attendees as Randall and Jimmie did. This, in her view, was just how it
should be. It was her boys, "outed" as girls for the day and enjoying
themselves immensely, who should register for that day, and onward into
the future.
Chapter 28 -- Event Day, at Last
The big day had arrived. Booster Day at the Echo Branch Library had
always been a big deal, though it had sagged a bit over the years because
it mostly offered donated books. It was held in the library playground,
and a supplier set up all the tents needed to house the various booths --
the tents all matched in bold blue and white stripes like a circus "big
top". The staffers involved took it seriously.
The Acquisitions group members were nervous because their booth was
novel, to say the least, and its offerings could be viewed as slightly
creepy. But they had gone all out to make it work. Janie crossed her
fingers and named the booth "Women Save Resources -- from the Skin Out".
She correctly figured people would visit it just to "decode" the booth
name. She and Yvette had also produced a new sign that credited Ms.
Oberdorfer's shops with the donations, listing the locations and hours of
all three. The vibe was good.
The three core members of the team, plus the two other female staffers
who agreed to help, all were close to identically dressed in tan shorts
and the dark pink "shutter sleeve" tops Yvette had sourced, with their
hair up and held with a claw clip, excepting one of the two volunteers
who had a pixie cut. Randall had given Jimmie a set of the ballooning tan
shorts just like his, plus a distinctive blue belt matching his that day,
so they really looked like twins. The two of them were assigned to the
back of the booth, Jimmie to find the right sizes, constructions, and
colors of bras and panties to re-stock the displays as they sold items,
and Randall to keep up the database with the purchases (or donations in
the case of the used panties) as they came in. If anything, it worked
better that any of them had imagined.
In no time, nervousness was replaced by sheer pandemonium. When shoppers
learned that incredible bargains in nearly new and freshly laundered
lingerie were available, and often high-end brands to boot, with
knowledgeable sales personnel to assist, the "gold rush" was on. News of
the "help save the environment, and do yourself a favor too" booth spread
by word-of-mouth, and one shopper, who was a "vlogger" in her spare time,
shot a video that she live-streamed to the Net.
The crush at the booth was threatening to swamp the efforts of the two
women and Janie to help eager customers. She called Yvette to ask if she
were nearby and could help, but Yvette was running the shop and couldn't
-- but she had a better idea.
"Janie," she responded, "you have an excellent candidate right there. If
you ask Ginny to pitch in, she will help tremendously. Just ask her to
wear a necklace or something, maybe a barrette to look convincingly
female, and that will do it."
"Who's Ginny?" Janie asked. "I'll certainly ask."
"Damn, I shouldn't have said that, and I'll explain later. Just ask
Jimmie to wear some female accessories to look like a girl up at the
counter, and your problems are solved. She's -- I mean he's -- the best
sales associate we have at the store. He's agreed to an androgynous look
to put our customers at ease."
"Thanks girl, I'll do it and we can talk later -- lot's to digest." And
Janie thought that was THE understatement of the day, or week, as she
pocketed her phone and went to suggest to Jimmie a new role for him at
the front of the booth (and maybe a new accessory or two).
Jimmie hesitated only for a moment, then agreed to help their shoppers
examine the stock and make their underwear choices. Wearing Janie's
string-of-pearls chocker and a barrette he just happened to have with
him, he staffed the counter and assisted the customers, all without
incident. He was so knowledgeable about the stock not on display, and he
was so good at guesstimating bra size, that he could often pull out a
unique item for a shopper, leaving her pleased and happy to pay --
sometimes over the quoted price "because this is all for the library".
His most successful gambit was to bring out a perfect matching panty with
the requested bra. He overcame the residual hesitation of several
shoppers over "wearing used panties" by showing how clean they were, with
absolutely no wear.
With the booth so busy, none of the booth's staff noticed several
fascinated observers, each of whom was careful to stay unnoticed. Janice
Goudy, the Branch Director, was evaluating every booth she could, of
course, but she focused closely on the "Women Save Resources" booth most.
She could take no real credit for its resounding success, despite Ms.
Butler's earlier hint that she could, but she was immensely pleased by
its novel alignment with helping the environment and the "diversity"
aspect added by Jimmie's wardrobe choices. Her Branch was actually making
an activist statement, as it were, not just supporting the status quo. It
was "forward-leaning", that's what it was. She thought ahead, hoping that
the same benefactor would make the underwear donations in future years.
Then her best thought: she would have to protect this and other forward-
leaning initiatives from attack by fringe parent's groups. This is where
she could truly help.
Ms. Oberdorfer was also in attendance, and also remaining out of sight.
She smiled as she noted the placard crediting her shops with the
donations. The booth had been Jimmie's idea, not her's, but she now
registered a warm feeling that this had come about in part because of her
deep-seated commitment to Jimmie and his self-actualization. She saw him
now, in his fetching attire, at the counter and confidently helping
shoppers. She could tell that his skills, honed at her shop, had tamed
the earlier crush and the sales were proceeding at a high volume. Her
retailing sense, and familiarity with the six bins of donations, told her
the booth would sell out before the day was done -- what could beat that.
Ms. Butler was the third observer, and she was unreservedly pleased with
her group's successful booth. She felt no resentment that Janie had
brought this into being and made it a complete success, or that she had
so artfully manipulated Jimmie and her roommate into the clearly feminine
outfits they now wore unselfconsciously in public. Why, Jimmie actually
was wearing a pearl chocker and a neat barrette as he helped women with
making underwear selections. Would wonders never cease!
She then recognized that her staffers, and the boy who she thought Janie
had brought aboard from outside -- it was hard to tell because his outfit
and upswept hair made him so girlish -- actually would appreciate it if
she came to the booth and praised them on their joint success that day.
So, she did just that. Without trying to take a bit of credit, she came
up to the counter and individually and sincerely praised each of
staffers. Wow but it felt good to be a part of this!
Ms. Oberdorfer took note of this young woman's appearance at the booth
and the attention she paid to staff. Could this be Jimmie's supervisor at
the library? Yes, she thought, this must be Ms. Butler, who had Jimmie
hand-washing her laundry and shopping for her menstrual needs. She
grinned to herself at this pleasing picture. The supervisor's
"appearance" also pleased in the literal sense. She was dressed in a
little girl's jumper, high-waisted and with a very high hem, that
showcased her stick-thin legs, with protruding knee joints, and evident
veins and arteries. So this was "the look" that captured Jimmie. No rush,
but the two of them should meet soon to plot Jimmie's future.
The booth did have to close before the end of the day -- they had sold out
the vast majority of their stock, plain and simple. Janie had carefully
set aside two nice selections of underwear she figured would fit the two
volunteers and pressed a selection on each of them. A nice ending to a
super day. Jamie and Randall disassembled the booth interior, packed away
the few remaining donations, and packed them into the van for storage or
return to Ms. Oberdorfer's shops. Janie deposited the booth receipts with
the library fiscal staff. So, that was that. She breathed a sign of
relief. Now, it looked like life would go back to normal for them all.
But, who really knows what life brings next?
