The Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 1 It was November and already Paul was getting a little tired of school. He had been back just 2 months and the homework was already piling up. It owed much to the fact that in May, Paul would be taking his GCSE exams. The school was eager for all students to get good results and bombarding them with homework seemed the best way of ensuring it. It was Friday, the weekend ahead and what should have been time for putting feet up and going out with friends. Instead, Paul came home on his bike feeling dejected. "Whats wrong son?" asked his mom Laura as he came through the door. "Homework, thats what! Every teacher has the same idea, that us pupils have nothing to do every weekend and dump loads of it on our laps," he said crossly. He took his bike round the back and returned to hang up his coat. "Its not fair, I was going to spend some time in the park with Mike tomorrow. Now I'm stuck in all day with maths and English," he continued. "Never mind son. Its because your exams are this year," said Alex, his dad. "I know, you've told me before," he sighed. He headed upstairs to put his bag away. He sat on his bed and dumped his bag beside him. He removed a number of books and put them on his writing desk. "Trigo-bloody-nometry!" he said as he put down a sheet of paper that listed all the basic formulae that that area of maths entailed. He had found trigonometry awkward. It almost certainly required a calculator and was, in his opinion, confusing. He sat down and read the paper, looking fed up almost immediately. He had just picked up a pencil when he heard Laura call. "You know its your call tonight? Can you get ready ASAP?" she called. It was a routine that had been well practised. The family ate out every Friday evening and each time, they went somewhere different. They had taken it in turns to choose the venue. As he had just been reminded, it was his turn tonight. He already had an idea and was about to head to the shower when he heard the bathroom door shut. "Oh nuts! Joanne, don't spend all year in there!" he cried. Joanne was his older sister and only sibling. She had made a habit of hitting the shower upon arriving home from college and usually spent ages in there. She was 18, while Paul was 16. Joanne was a hairdresser in the making, studying a course at college. She seemed to spend just as much time in the chair than holding the scissors however, as her hair was constantly changing. You needed photographs to remind yourself that her natural tone was light brown. All in the family had lost count of how many colours it had been since. The length also varied from very short to very long. "I'll only be a few minutes!" came her voice. "I've got my watch set!" said Paul. "You've got a nerve!" came her reply. He returned to his room and attempted another attack on the trigonometry. His mind wasn't in the mood however, and he quickly put the paper to one side. He decided to sit down on his bed and admire his car collection. Paul was an avid fan of motor racing, whether it be Formula 1 or World Rally. Ever since his dad got him some Hot Wheels when he was younger, he had been hooked. His model cars ranged from tiny Hot Wheels to 10 inch models, all being sports cars of some kind. He also had framed photos of famous cars and drivers, some signed too. His dad had managed to take him to racing events over the years and it was due to this that his autograph collection had grown. His interest had also influenced his potential career choices: he wanted to work in the race car industry. It didn't bother him whether it was as a mechanic or being a driver, just as long as he was involved. To move towards such a career required skills in mechanical engineering. This meant good grades in both maths and science were needed in his exams. "Ok, moaner. You can use the shower," said Joanne peeping round his door. "Thanks," he said brushing past her. He stripped off and started the shower. Upon drying himself, he had a quick shave and used some deodorant. He made his way back to his room for clean clothes when he noticed Joanne heading downstairs. "Nice hair this time. Better than your last," he said. "Oh thanks, nice for you to compliment it for a change," she replied. Her hair was a rich auburn and shoulder length, this time round. It had recently been black, with brightly coloured highlights. Paul had called her the "Bride of Frankenstein" as a result. "Oh that colour suits you," said Laura when she entered the kitchen. "Thanks, I thought I'd better go for something simple being as my last do got panned by that monster of a little brother of mine," she said, sitting down. "Well, it was a little wild," said Laura, trying not to be offensive. "Paul down yet?" asked Alex. "Not yet, he wont be long, I imagine," said Laura. Paul at that moment entered the kitchen, wearing a plain shirt and grey trousers. "I've already got an idea," he said as he entered. "Go ahead, we're all ears," said Alex. "There's this new Chinese place called the Lucky Dragon. It opened just the other week and apparently, according to some at school, its very good," said Paul. "Sounds good. Haven't had oriental in a while," said Laura. "Same here," said Joanne. "Well, thats decided. The Lucky Dragon, it is," said Alex. The siblings waited in the kitchen while their parents both went to freshen up. "So, you find my hair nice?" said Joanne. "Well, of course. At least it isn't rainbow in the night," said Paul. "You should try something different with yours. 'Bout time you grew it!" she said with sarcasm. "No way, long is for girls. My hair is staying short," he snorted. "I don't know. Bet your hair would good long. Nice shade of red," she replied. "Might go red again myself." Paul was indeed a red head and only a slightly lighter shade than his mom. Laura was very attractive, mainly down to her red hair, now worn just above her shoulders. It had been longer in her youth and Alex had often explained that it was one of the things that had drawn him to her. "Why don't you, then dad would be the odd one out," he said. "I'd be the what?" answered Alex, now entering the kitchen once more. "Odd one out. Jo wants to go red again," said Paul. "Fine by me. As long as it isn't black with pink, green and white streaks," he said, gaining a dirty look from Joanne. "Well? All ready to go?" he asked them, just as Laura came downstairs. "Ready as I'll ever be," said Paul. They headed to the car and made for the Lucky Dragon. It had, as Paul had said, just opened a couple of weeks ago. When they made their way in, they found that it was proving popular: the place was busy. Still, there were tables available so they didn't have to wait to be seated. A waitress came and took their drinks order first. As they waited for their drinks to arrive, Alex decided to bring up the subject of school. Paul grimaced. "I see you came back with a load more homework, son?" he said "Too much, more like it. Got some that is giving me a headache already," said Paul. "Whats that?" asked Alex. "Trigonometry. It's bloody hard," Paul sighed. "Language please!" put in Laura. "Sorry mom," he replied. "But I can't grasp it at all, except for Pythagoras." "So you can't do Cosine, Tangent and Sine?" asked Alex. "Yes, those," replied Paul. "Remind me to help you when we get back home. I know what you mean, tough area of maths," said Alex. Maths was a strong point of his, though being an accountant, it had to be. "So, hows college?" said Alex, now turning his attention to Joanne. "Getting on ok. Getting through a load of wigs, I tell you," she replied. "Wigs?" he queried. "Yes, you honestly think they let us style actual hair? We work on wigs first. Only when they think we're good enough, will they allow us to do someones hair," she replied. "So, is that a wig you've got on?" asked Paul, mischievously. "OUCH!" "No it isn't!" she snapped, slapping him round the back of the head. "Ok, no need for that, thank you," said Laura. "Here are the drinks anyway." "May I take your meal order?" asked the waitress. The family quickly looked at the menus once more, before Alex gave the waitress the order. "Nice place, this," said Laura, looking around. "Not bad. Certainly looks the part," said Joanne. The restaurant was decorated in the usual manner for a Chinese place. It had loads of dragon ornaments and statues, to reflect the name. Red was the principle colour, as Alex told the others, was considered lucky. Talk was kept to a minimum as they received their meals. "Not bad portions. Worth the price," said Alex. He received nods in agreement. When they had cleared their plates, the waitress returned and asked if they wanted anything else. "No thanks," he told her. "Very well," she replied and went to fetch the bill. She returned, not only with the bill, but with a small plate of crackers. Alex looked at the bill and paid her there and then. The attention was then drawn to the small plate. "Fortune cookies. Ok, take one and tell us what you get," said Alex. They all took one and opened it. They all read their papers. Paul looked at his and felt uneasy. "Ok, I'll tell mine," said Alex. "Luck arrives, riding on a pony." "Thinking of owning a horse?" asked Joanne. "Not really, nowhere to stable it," he replied. "Just a bit of fun, these fortunes." "A change in the family will bring great fortune to you," said Laura. "A firm friend will bring fortune," said Joanne. "Fair enough, I've a few friends at college." All eyes turned to Paul, who looked anxious. "Well?" asked Alex. "A wedding in silk awaits you," he said, looking downbeat. "Oh great, you in silk. Grow your hair and you will look the part!" chuckled Joanne. Paul gave her a dirty look. His parents weren't doing much laughing either. "So, as dad said, don't take it seriously," she said, trying to save face. He was comforted by that and left the paper on the table with the others. * * * Paul headed for his room upon arriving back home and picked up his maths homework. Alex had promised to help him with it, and for that, he was very grateful. "You'll need to know this if you want to go into engineering," said Dad as he looked at the papers. "I know, but its still tough. Its all Greek to me," said Paul. "Well, it was a Greek who calculated these ratios," said Alex with a chuckle. He went about explaining the rules with his son for the rest of the evening. By now Paul was getting there, but still not confident. He knew enough to get the first part of the homework done and by the time that was done, he was tired and went to bed. Next morning was the usual ritual: waiting for his older sister to finish her lengthy spell in the bathroom. He decided to take another look at his maths homework while he waited, trying to remember if he had retained anything from last nights lessons with Alex. His focus was only broken by the sound of Joanne leaving the bathroom. With that, he headed there himself and washed, before heading downstairs for breakfast. He spent most of the morning on other homework, for Dad was at work. He had all but forgotten about the fortune paper by now. Joanne had gone out with friends, meaning Laura was the only one for company. She left him alone for the most part, seeing that he was busy with homework. "Take a break if you like. I can see you've been at it all morning," she said. "Thanks mom," he said, relieved "I'll go and make you a sandwich," she added, heading for the kitchen. He turned on the television and went through the channels. Laura brought him his sandwich and sat beside him. "Homework is tough, especially when its piled up on you," she said. "I'm halfway through it mostly, but I can't finish until dad gets back," he replied. "Well, just take a break, let your brain recharge. If you can get it done today, you'll have all of tomorrow to yourself," she said. "Yeah, but tomorrow is Sunday, worst day of the week. No decent television, hardly any shops open," he sighed. "Surely you can do something?" she replied. "I suppose I can find something to do. Don't I always?" he replied. He watched the television for a hour and then returned to the nearby table where his homework waited. Joanne was the first to come back, but she headed straight to the bathroom. She came downstairs to have something to eat then returned to her own room and stayed there. "Shes some fun," said Paul sarcastically. "Wouldn't know she lived here at times." "Don't be hard on her, she's up to her neck in college work. She needs time to relax too," said Laura. Paul breathed a sigh of relief as he placed another piece of finished homework to one side. He then retrieved another assignment from his bag and set about doing that one. He was relieved when Alex got back: the maths homework, left till now, could now be continued. Alex, having been told how his son had spent the day toiling over homework, gave him another chance to relax. "We can start on your maths work after dinner, okay?" he said. "Thanks dad," said Paul. He left the table and headed for his room to have a lie down on his bed. "Busy little beaver. I can't see why he shouldn't get good results in his exams," Alex said to Laura. "Still, they do overload him with homework," said Laura. "Yeah, he deserves a break," said Alex. Paul returned to his room and lay on his bed. He got up a while later, woken by Laura's call for dinner. Afterwards, he continued his homework, and with Alex now with him, he could get back to work on the maths. For now, Alex was merely giving him tips as he went through the questions that he'd been given. "You're getting the hang of it son. This is only homework you've got left?" asked Alex. "Until I get more on Monday," replied Paul. "I'll be glad when school is over and homework will be over." "College will be no different, though you'll be studying fewer subjects," said Alex. "Well, at least I'll have a prolonged summer holiday at least," Paul sighed. "We need to find you some extra spare time. Lets hope the teachers go easy on you next week," said Alex. With Alex's help, Paul completed his maths homework and spent the final few hours of the day watching the television. Nothing felt better at this moment than the thought of homework finished and spare time to himself. * * * Paul awoke next morning with no immediate plans for the day. After once again waiting for Joanne in the bathroom, he headed downstairs. "Morning son," said Alex as he came to the kitchen for breakfast. "Doing anything today?" he asked "What do you want to do? You have got the day to yourself," said Laura. "Anywhere open today?" asked Paul. "Theres not much open," replied Laura. "It is Sunday, remember." "I suppose I'll just put my feet up for the day then," he replied. He spent the day in the living room watching the television. He found a DVD to watch: F1 season review 2000. There wasn't much in the way of motorsport on at the moment and this was his best way of watching his favourite subject. Joanne decided that this was not to her liking and stayed in her room all day. The day remained very much lazy for Paul. Sundays were just that. Once he had finished watching his DVD, he took his bike out for a spin. The weather was cold, so he wore his coat. He had a route that took him around the local neighbourhood and involved going across the local park. How long it took depended on his urgency. This time, he was just out to burn time and so went around the route slowly. He had been given a time to come home by Laura, just so he didn't miss dinner. After dinner, he went to his room and started dusting off his model cars. The day was proving boring and couldn't wait for it to be over in a way. But there were no more free days until next weekend. Monday arrived and he found himself in a rare situation: he had got to the bathroom before Joanne. "Hope you're not going to be in there too long!" said Joanne from the other side of the door. "Oh, so you don't like waiting? Now you know how I feel most mornings!" he replied. He decided to rub salt in and take his time washing. He pictured his sister's face at that moment and smiled. "Ok, you can spend your few hours in there now," he said upon leaving. Joanne fumed. This bonus of getting washed earlier, allowed him to prepare for school with time to spare. After getting his bag ready, he put on his coat and got on his bike. He met his friends on arrival: Mike and Kevin. He had known them since primary school. He also had two girls for friends too: Kelly and Linda. Kelly had long honey blonde hair while Linda had long auburn hair. Both girls had so far had platonic friendships with the trio of boys, but Paul was of late seeking a closer still friendship with Kelly. Paul had started seeing Kelly in another light since the year had started but hadn't plucked up the courage to tell her. Mike and Kevin knew of his crush but had kept it quiet from the girls. Paul was partly afraid of ruining a good friendship by asking her. Kelly, on the other hand, had never had a boyfriend. Not that there were no boys interested, there were. She had thus far turned them down every time, much to Paul's relief. What nobody knew was that Kelly had a secret that only Linda and her parents knew. Kelly had never been attracted to boys, only girls. Despite this, she had never had a girlfriend either. Linda had made it clear to Kelly that she wasn't interested but was still keen to keep up the current state of friendship. Kelly's real reason for not having a girlfriend was down to her parents. She had innocently told her parents that she was attracted to girls and had discovered in the process that they were seriously homophobic. Since then, she had decided to refrain from romance, seeing that if she couldn't have a girlfriend, she would remain single. Paul was still in the playground with his mates when the girls arrived. "Hi guys, how was your weekend?" asked Kelly, showing her usual smile, the one that Paul found irresistible. "One word: homework," said Paul. "All day Saturday. Sunday was just watching DVDs and bike riding." "You spent all Saturday doing homework?" asked Mike. "You should have left it till Sunday and had Saturday to yourself." "Well, joker, I've been told that homework should be made priority. Stitch in time saves nine," answered Paul. "Agreed," said Kelly. "Delaying it can make things harder, especially as we are getting more each day." "Ok, so you got it out of the way early," answered Mike. "No biggy." "Oh, Friday night, we went to the Lucky Dragon," said Paul, deciding to change the subject. "Cool! What was the food like?" asked Kevin. "Very good. Wouldn't mind going there again, though I'd decline the fortune cookies next time" explained Paul. "Why? Aren't they any good," asked Linda. "Just a bit crazy," said Paul. "Mine says I can expect a wedding in silk. My sister had the inspiration to think it would be a wedding dress." "Oh great, who's the groom?" asked Mike jokingly. "Shut up, it could apply to menswear too," said Linda. "Silk shirts, ties, etc." "Sounds all gay to me," said Mike. Kelly flinched at the mention of the word, which caught Kevin's attention. "Whats up Kel?" he asked. "Oh, nothing. Just think Mike is being a little over judgemental," she replied. "Yeah Mike, rich men wear silk clothes. Doesn't mean they're pansies!" retorted Linda. "OK, I take it back!" said Mike, holding his hands up. Just then, the bell rang for school to start. * * * "Pride and Prejudice! Whose bright idea was it to have us study that?" exclaimed Mike as he and Paul left English and headed for the canteen for dinner. "Miss Jackson, obviously!" said Paul, refering to their English teacher. They arrived in the canteen and found their usual table. Mike headed for the queue to get dinner. Paul always brought a packed lunch. They soon found the girls heading their way. "Hi guys," said Kelly. "Hows your day been?" "Got Pride and Prejudice in English," said Paul. "We've got that too," said Kevin, joining them. "Ruddy romance." "They're not too bad. Course, you're boys and it doesn't suit your style," added Linda. "Well, its homework too," said Paul. "We've got to have read it from cover to cover in two weeks. Miss Jackson will be testing us on it." "Hi girls!" said Mike, now arriving with his dinner. "Hi Mikey, see you've got romance to study?" said Linda. "Who needs books when there are girls like you instead?" he answered, trying to be charming. "Stick to the books lover boy," said Kelly. Paul gave a wry smile at this. He didn't want anyone else eyeing up his would be girlfriend. As predicted, the homework pile up began again. Some of it had a 2 week deadline, meaning that it could go to the back of the priority queue. Paul however, was eager to get it done well ahead of schedule where possible. He spent any spare time reading Pride and Prejudice. He kept seeing himself as Mr Darcy and Kelly as Elizabeth Bennet. He kept thinking of Kelly and how beautiful she looked. He got carried away with his thoughts whilst reading and had to make an emergency trip to the bathroom to cool off. Despite his growing feelings for Kelly, Paul had failed to make a pass at her. He found himself too involved in his homework, desperate to get it done before he was up to his eyeballs in it. December was soon upon them and the homework showed no sign in slowing down. At least his hard work was paying off: he was getting good marks and his trigonometry work was amongst it. As the Christmas holidays approached, he was bracing himself for a huge load of homework. Though there was homework indeed, it was nowhere near as bad as he had thought. So much the better, it could be done quicker, resulting in more spare time. Kelly, on the other hand, was mulling over her sexuality. She was getting confused. She was finding herself attracted to a boy for the first time in her life. She wasn't too sure whether to make a pass at him, but she knew that her parents would be pleased if they found out she did like boys after all. In the end, she decided to pluck up the courage and ask that boy out at the next opportunity. Christmas arrived and Paul was looking forward to some real spare time for the first time in ages. "Merry Christmas Paul," said his parents as they gave him his present: another model rally car for his collection. He had also received new clothes and some more DVDs. Joanne had certainly gone festive: her hair was now a bright red and she had got a glittery green hairband to put in it. It was certainly standout, but as the rest of the family agreed, not as bad as previous experiments. The holiday was going well and Paul spent a few days going around shops looking for more motorsport items going in the sales. The little homework he had was completed in the days after Christmas, allowing him to celebrate the New Year with out worry. Or so he thought. He was emptying his coat pocket one day when he found his fortune paper amongst the items inside. He swore that he had left the paper at the restaurant. Still, he took the paper, screwed it up, and put it in the paper bin beside his desk. That night, he had a dream. He was in a field and in the distance was a girl. From what he could tell, she had beautiful long red hair, down to the middle of her back and she was wearing a white dress. Her back was turned to him. He was intrigued by her and approached her. She sensed his approach and turned around. As he got closer, he became aware of how much she looked like him. Still, he came face to face with her. "I've been expecting you," she said brightly. "So what do you think of me?" "You look beautiful, love your hair," he replied. "Yes, I love it too!" she said, now stroking her hair. "It took me a while to grow it but I think it was worth it. Don't you think so?" "Yes, I do. By the way, who are you?" he asked. She smiled at him before answering. "Why, I'm you of course!" she said. Paul woke up with a start, his face frozen with fear, cold sweat on his brow. The dream had turned to a nightmare in his opinion. He sat up and wiped his face before eventually getting back to sleep. * * * The next day, Paul recounted his dream to himself and felt uneasy. He then remembered Joanne's words to him at the Lucky Dragon, saying that long hair and a white dress would suit him. He reasoned that somehow, those words had become that dream. He therefore brushed it aside and worried about it no more. As he left his room, he noticed the fortune paper on his desk. It wasn't creased at all, but flat and laid out. He wondered what was going on. He once again screwed the paper up and put it in his bin. The New Year finally arrived and Paul hadn't had any more dreams about a female version of himself. What puzzled him was that the fortune paper continued to reappear on his desk without a crease in it. He had tired of it and went to rip it in two. He was surprised when he found he couldn't. The paper wouldn't rip at all. He gave up and put it back on the desk. He had decided that it wanted to stay there, so he let it do so. He decided not to mention it to his family for fear of being called mad. The holiday ended without further incident. The fortune paper seemed content to stay put for now on his desk. His attention was now back on school and further bombardments of homework. That first day back, he found his friends waiting for him, no doubt wanting a holiday report from him. He gave them one, minus details about the dream and the invincible fortune paper. He was just heading for the last lesson of the day when he was stopped by Kelly. He was surprised to see her minus Linda, who he knew stuck by her like a shadow. "I'm glad to get you alone," she said. "You are?" he said. "I just wanted to give you a belated Christmas present," she said smiling. With that, she leant forward and planted a kiss on his lips. Paul was momentarily speechless. "Thanks Kelly! I enjoyed that!" "I did too!" replied Kelly. "Now don't be late for your next lesson." "I won't!" he replied and walked off, though he couldn't help but look back towards her. "So, what took you so long?" asked Mike, who was waiting outside their next classroom. "Just seen Kelly, thats all," answered Paul. "Thats all?" asked Mike. "Looking at the smile on your face, I'd say she gave you more than a few friendly words." Paul just smiled all the more. "You lucky sod! You've hit the jackpot!" said Mike. Mike was about to probe further when the teacher called the class in. Paul remained in high spirits through the lesson and was eager to meet Kelly again. "Hi Kelly!" he said to her when he finally saw her again, this time at the end of school. "You looking for a repeat of earlier?" she asked him, giving him that smile he loved so much. "You have lifted a weight off my mind. I've had a crush on you for a few months now," he replied. She was a little surprised by this, but not offended. She put her arms around him and kissed him again. He responded back and she didn't back away. He felt a bulge downstairs and tried to hide it. "You did enjoy that," she smiled, looking down. Paul was slightly embarrassed at this, but smiled back. "So, here we have the happy couple!" said Mike as he, Kevin and later still, Linda came up. "Will you leave it off!" said Paul. Linda gave Kelly a look of wonder, which Kelly noticed. Paul said his goodbyes and set off on his bike. Mike and Kevin headed home moments later. "I thought you liked girls?" asked Linda to Kelly. "I still do. I just don't know, I've really fallen for Paul," explained Kelly. "So, you want to start dating Paul?" asked Linda. "Now I know he likes me in the same way, yes I do," said Kelly. "Well done Kelly, I'm pleased you've found someone," said Linda, giving her a hug. Paul arrived home feeling over the moon. His happiness couldn't be hidden. "You're looking happy son? Too happy for it to be no homework," asked Mom. "I've got myself a girlfriend!" he cried. "Well done! Whos the lucky girl?" said Laura, giving him a hug. "Kelly Walker, shes been a friend of mine for a while. She basically asked me," he replied. "She either asked you, or she kissed you?" said Laura. Paul's face said it all. "You old romantic! I'm so pleased for you!" she added. "Did I hear my son has got himself a girlfriend?" asked Alex, coming from upstairs. "You did, and its a girl whos been under his nose a while too," said Laura. "Ok, ok, I've got myself a girlfriend. I've also got homework too!" he said, trying to duck out of the subject. "You'll have to invite her round," said Alex, as Paul headed up the stairs. Paul lay on his bed and relived the last kiss in his mind. He was in heaven, the girl he had liked more than ever was now his girlfriend. Every time he saw her now, he would be wondering when the next kiss would be. Kelly was still in two minds. She still found herself attracted to other girls, but she was attracted to Paul. She certainly had feelings for him and she didn't regret kissing him. She knew that her parents would be pleased now but it didn't fully please her. She liked Paul too much as a friend however and didn't want to ditch him just to satisfy her gay longings. For now, however, she decided to refrain from telling her parents about Paul. * * * Paul went to bed, still happy from the day just gone. He went on to dream about being a champion racecar driver again. He was climbing the podium to collect the winners trophy when he noticed that a familiar face was bringing it to him: a girl with long red hair. "Well done champ!" she said, handing him the trophy. "Like my hair now?" She started swishing her hair around, now full of curls. There was no doubt she was beautiful, but Paul was freaking out again. He woke up from his dream and wondered. She had appeared again in his dreams. The only girl he wanted in his dreams was Kelly. "When you see her, ask her if she can come around some time?" asked Laura as he left for school. "Will do!" he called back. For the moment, he just wanted to kiss her again. He arrived early and found himself waiting for all of his friends to arrive. "Morning lover boy!" said Mike. "Morning!" said Paul, his eyes still fixed on the entrance gate. "You've got it bad. She a good kisser?" Mike asked. "You want to know about kissing, get yourself a girl. If there are any about who like your jokes!" chuckled Paul. "Ha ha, very funny!" mocked Mike. Kevin arrived moments later and asked very much the same questions. Kelly arrived with Linda and as soon as she noticed Paul, she headed straight to him and gave him a kiss. Mike gave a few wolf whistles as they did. Linda gave him a slap to the back of the head. Paul and Kelly looked into each others eyes and smiled at each other. "Can we get going?" said Kevin. "Almost time for form." "See you at dinner time," said Paul. "Sure," said Kelly, giving him another kiss. Paul was smitten and looked forward to every opportunity with Kelly. Kelly herself found being with Paul something to look forward to. Her lesbian tendancies were certainly being brushed aside as her affections for Paul grew. Until now, they had sat opposite one another at dinner time. They now sat side by side, not afraid to show their friends that they were serious. At the end of school, Kelly waited for Paul and asked to accompany him on the way back home. He readily agreed and the two set off, with Paul riding his bike at a slow pace so that Kelly could keep up. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but my parents would like to meet you," Paul asked her along the way. "Not at all. Can't tonight, maybe another evening?" she replied. "Ok, just say and I'll arrange it," he said. "Sure. I just want you to know that you're my first boyfriend," she said. "Really? Well, I can say the same about you, being my first girlfriend that is," he said smiling. They reached the point where their paths divided. Paul dismounted and walked to her. "I think you are really beautiful," he said "And I love you." "Thanks, thats very kind of you. I love you too." They shared one more kiss before heading off to their homes. Paul was brought back to earth at home, when he was reminded to do his homework. His head had been in the clouds, dreaming of Kelly. Upon arriving at her house, Kelly decided it was time to explain to her parents that she was now seeing Paul. As she expected, they were over the moon. "I'm glad to see you've finally seen sense and started taking an interest in boys," said her dad. "He's asked me to go around to his house to see his mom and dad," she replied. "Well, thats ok, as long as you don't do something," said her mom. "I don't think his parents will allow that either," she replied, understanding what they meant. "Sorry, didn't think. Still, wouldn't mind seeing him ourselves," said her dad. * * * Paul went to bed that night expecting a wonderful dream with Kelly being heavily involved in it. Instead, he got another girl he was beginning to know too well. He was back in the field and she was waiting for him. "Not you again! Get out of my dreams!" he shouted at her. She walked over to him and grabbed him by the arm. "Not yet. I'm here with a purpose and you need to listen. No, no waking up either." "What do you want?!" he asked. "I'm here to prepare you for the months ahead," she said. "What do you mean? What's gonna happen?" he asked. "You are going to become me," she said. Paul froze at her words. He certainly wanted to wake up now, but found he couldn't. "You obviously don't want to be a girl? I know. But it is going to happen. Its your fate." "My fate?!" he exclaimed. "Yes, since you got that fortune, you are now destined to become a girl," she said. "FORTUNE?!" he cried. "You mean that blasted fortune cookie?" "Thats the one. I know, the paper doesn't want to disappear," she replied. "You know about that?" he said. "Yes, after all, I'm the future you. You are my past," she said. "No. I've just got myself a girlfriend. I cannot become a girl, its not possible." "Possible is standing before you. Listen, your change will be slow and steady. You cannot prevent it so don't try fighting it. It's best if you learn to accept it." Paul struggled free and sat on the floor with his head in his hands. The girl sat beside him and put her arm around him. "I know, its not going to be easy, but I can tell you that your life is going to improve tremendously as a result," she told him. "How? My life is going to be ruined. How is my family, my friends, etc, going to understand whats happening to me?" he asked. "I DO NOT WANT TO BE A GIRL!" "The answers will come. I know more than you realise, but most of what I know cannot be told. You must learn it for yourself," she said. "But you will become a girl, there is no escaping that." "So, if my fortune is effecting me, what about the ones my family had?" he asked eventually. "They will come about too. I cannot say when, and they will only know when the time comes. What I can say is that the fortunes are good. No bad will come of them, even yours. It sounds bad, I understand your problem. Just relax and let things happen." Paul was still terrified and showed it. "What will happen first? Will I grow breasts first?" "The physical changes won't be first. Just be careful what you say, thats all," she replied. "Be careful what I say?! You mean I'll think like a girl?" he replied. "You will of course, but don't think you'll disappear. Some attitudes will change but you'll still be you. Look at me. I'm the way you'll look. I'm happy about myself, I remember my past and don't regret a thing." Paul looked into her eyes. Her eyes were full of sympathy. He took her in a hug, tears coming from his eyes. "Your hair is so soft and beautiful," he said. "I know, and you'll love it like this," she said. Paul let go and stood back. He still looked unsure. "So, when do the changes begin?" "Immediately. They will be slow however. You'll hardly notice anything for the first few days." "Now?! I'm not ready, I won't be ready!" he panicked. "That is why they'll start now. Don't worry about it." Paul looked at her and gulped. The only positive was that she was absolutely stunning. If he was to become a girl, he was glad that he would be very pretty. "I'll leave you for now. I'll be back again to help you further, but its mostly up to you," she said finally. She walked away and the dream came to an end. Paul spent the rest of the night in an uneasy sleep.

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 18

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 18 It was nearly 9:00am when Paul awoke next morning. Kelly was snuggled up beside him. He started to stroke her hair when she stirred. "Morning beautiful," he said. "What time is it?" she replied, yawning. "Nearly nine," he replied. "I've got to get ready, my dad is picking me up at ten." "Can't you stop a bit longer?" she asked, kissing him. "I've got to leave before your parents show up," he said. "Ok then," she sighed. He...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 38

The Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 38 Friday came and Paula was given the chance to have a few extra hours in bed. Having eventually got up, she washed and dressed before heading down for breakfast. "Morning," said Laura. "You have slept in." "I know," yawned Paula. "What're we doing today?" "Have some more mother-daughter time if you like," she replied. "That would be great. Just wish there was more I could do with my hair," said Paula. "In time. It is near to shoulder...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 36

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 36 Paula went to bed Friday night still reeling from the fact that her parents had had sex in a college classroom. But since that bit of skulduggery, they had obviously cleaned up their act. The following morning, Paula prepared for her day at Alicia's. Without a set of earplugs available, she was trying to think of other ways to worm her way out of listening to hours of pop music. "Oh don't try to worm your way out," said Laura. "You may well...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 25

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 25 Friday. The last day of term and as a result, just a half day at that. Paula knew that she would have some spare time on her hands today and she was wondering whether or not she could get some unplanned extra time with Kelly. But first there was still a first period to recover from. In fact, she felt worse. She got up and slowly made her way to the bathroom and took the tampon out. It was soaked in blood and this only made her feel worse still....

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 26

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 26 Paula and Kelly decided to go just after 5:00pm. Seeing that they were both making their own way home, they left together. "I'm sorry about earlier Kelly," said Paula. "I really do want to make love to you, but that was not the right moment." "We wanted to do it at her birthday party but that was when you were still Paul," she replied. "I know. If your parents weren't such cows, we may have done it by now," said Paula. They hadn't gone...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 22

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 22 Laura's shopping trip was nothing more than a trip to the local supermarket, to pick up some much needed groceries. With Paul's voice very much non existant, Laura spoke to him in a way that merely required him to shake or nod his head. However, he had an idea to make communication easier. They were taking a break from shopping and having a drink in a cafe. "It is awkward when you've lost your voice," said Laura. "I lost it for a while before you...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 10

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 10 It was Sunday and the last day of the holiday. Paul awoke knowing that the latest meeting with Paula (as he now refered to her) would have to be discussed with his family. His mother was in the same predicament. He checked to see whether his breasts had grown more or if anything else was different. Nothing had changed as far as he could tell. He washed and for the first time, decided not to use his shaving kit. Since it was now known that he...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 13

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 13 Paul arrived home and explained about his reformed friendship with Mike and how his parents had influenced his decision making. "Not really surprising to be fair." said Laura. "Homosexuality was illegal many years ago and is still shunned by many religions to this day. Despite much support for it since, the world in general still hates it." "But do people have to agree with other people? We have our independence." said Paul. "You do, but...

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 27 Kelly awoke Tuesday morning wondering what her dad had got to say about her. She went down to breakfast and found him quickly sifting through the morning paper. He quickly glanced at her over the top of it and then retreated behind it again. Her mom just gave her a sympathetic shake of the head. In fact, not a word of the heated conversation was mentioned that morning. "Have a good day at work," said Miriam to her husband. "How long before...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 45

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 45 Paula and Kelly were now aware that their parents would be dining together at the Smith house on Wednesday evening. Both were unaware of what was to follow. "So, seen any more hot new fashions?" said Laura, as they left the dry cleaners and headed down the high street. "Plenty, but the best clothes are inside the shops, such as the lingerie," said Kelly. "I want to see Paula wearing some black lace undies!" "Then buy me some!" said Paula. "At...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 47

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 47 Saturday 26th July. The first weekend proper of the summer holidays. One week today would see Kelly and her parents go away. The following week saw Paula and her family go away, missing Kelly's birthday in the process. This still hurt Paula to a degree, even though Laura had told her that the Walkers were inviting her over on the Sunday after they came back, with a sleepover included. Kelly had been informed of this too, though she was unaware that...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 50

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 50 Paula celebrated her defense of top spot in the time trials with caution, knowing that by the time she next sat in a go-kart, she may find herself really up against it to retain that position. Still, she decided to give Kelly the news when she phoned that evening. But one other thing came up at dinner prior to that. Her meeting with Alan. "First Steven and now Alan. Two boys have shown an interest in me," she said. "I feel sorry that I have to...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 51

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 51 Kelly awoke Monday morning, with mixed emotions. She was now 17 and for a just over a week, 1 year older than her girlfriend Paula. The day was going to be awkward as her parents were back at work and she would be left alone for most of the day. With Paula on holiday, she didn't have her usual place to go. She got up and got dressed, in something casual, as she planned on wearing a dress for the party that afternoon. After brushing her hair, she...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 52

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 52 Paula had enjoyed her trip around the car museum at Caister. It was inside the local castle and did have a few sports cars among the exhibits. She had to settle with just Alex for company as her mom and sister spent the morning looking round the town of Caister. They eventually moved onto the North Norfolk Railway and spent the afternoon looking at the locomotives and riding up and down the line. It was during a stop for petrol on the way back to...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 53

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 53 As planned, the Smiths spent the last day of their holiday walking along the streets of Great Yarmouth, picking up a few souvenirs along the way. They also planned a visit to the Pleasure Beach but Paula found herself unable to go on a number of rides due to her period. It didn't stop her from doing a few things though. She spent a while in the amusement arcades trying to win a toy rally car. She gave up when it was clear she could buy one from a shop for a...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 54

Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 54 Arriving back at the Walker house, Kelly and Paula decided to make the most of the few hours that they had the house to themselves. "I'll do us some food in a while," said Kelly. "I do know a few things." "Ok, but what do you want to do first, other than maybe suck on my tongue?" asked Paula, sitting down on the sofa in the living room. "Just do some talking," said Kelly, coming in with two cans of cola she had acquired from the fridge. "So,...

Fortune Cookie 2

The Fortune Cookie 2 Chapter 1: "Another day studying? Why don't you take time out to check out some girls? That's if you really are into them," asked Phil. He was speaking to his college roommate, Casey. It was the weekend and Casey, as always, was sitting on his bed with his face buried in a book. He was a bookworm and studyholic: Something that long-term friend Phil found hard to understand. He peered over the edge of his book and turned slightly to meet the glance of...

Moms Christmas Cookie Pt 3 of 3

Cookie held a finger to her lips while looking up at the camera.  Then she went over to the door of her room and opened it.  I faintly heard Mom say something over the Christmas music in my earbuds, and then Cookie said, “What do you think, Sis?  Follow them.”Mom responded, and then Cookie gave me a thumbs-up to the camera.  She crawled into bed to wait, striking a sexy pose. The wait for Mom to change felt as if it was taking forever.  I was so nervous that my erection even drooped.  Finally,...

Moms Christmas Cookie Pt 2 of 3

My cock was bouncing up to tap against her as she moved into position. Then she grabbed my erection, stood it up, and wiggled it through her damp pussy hair. I drew in a deep breath of anticipation just before she slid me into her.She whimpered and I groaned in almost perfect counterpoint as she slowly sank down on top of me. She felt like pure heaven.“Your cock feels so good inside me, baby,” she said as the last of me vanished into her.“I love your pussy, aunt Cookie,” I responded.“Take a...
