Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 36 Paula went to bed Friday night still reeling from the fact that her parents had had sex in a college classroom. But since that bit of skulduggery, they had obviously cleaned up their act. The following morning, Paula prepared for her day at Alicia's. Without a set of earplugs available, she was trying to think of other ways to worm her way out of listening to hours of pop music. "Oh don't try to worm your way out," said Laura. "You may well find yourself enjoying it, and if that proves the case, your friendship will only get closer." "I'm taking this with me, just in case," said Paula, showing her copy of Lord of the Rings. "Next week, Kelly and I have got plenty of time on our hands. Can you think of anything that will take up an entire day?" "Revision?" she added. "Seriously!" said Paula. "Kelly doesn't want her dad for company. She wants me instead." "We know that already. Leave it to me," said Laura. "And if they ask you to stay for dinner today, then you can." "Ok. See you later," said Paula. She was on her way when she noticed a familiar car with the corner of her eye. She recognised it as the one belonging to Kelly's dad. There was no doubt where it was headed. "Oh shit. I hope he didn't see me," she thought. As a precaution, she strayed from her route. If he had noticed her, he would think she was heading elsewhere. She waited down the road until she noticed the car go past in the opposite direction. Then she headed back to her planned route. "You're late," said Mary as she opened the door. "Kelly is already here." "I guessed that. I saw her dad's car pass. That's why I'm late," she replied. "You're here in any case. Come in." She went in and headed upstairs. "I'm never usually first, you know," said Kelly as she entered Alicia's room. "That's because I don't usually have to hide when your dad's car passes," said Paula. "Oh," said Kelly, her tone deflated. "I didn't see you, and I'm sure he didn't too." "I hope he didn't," said Paula. "Now what about a kiss?" After sharing a kiss, Paula greeted Alicia. Greeting friends with a hug was becoming something that Paula was getting used to. "Now, about your lesson in music," said Alicia. "Kelly has brought some of her collection along. I've got my collection." "And I've brought this."quickly added Paula, showing her book. "Can you read whilst listening to music?" asked Alicia. "I hope so, if you keep the volume down," said Paula. "Fat chance," said Kelly. "Though we can do some other things." "Like what?" said Paula. "We did nails yesterday and Alicia can't do hers any way." "Play cards," said Alicia. "I've got a pack in my cupboard. Though I don't know poker or any other gambling games." "So, what games do you know?" asked Paula. "Strip Jack, Rummy, Old Maid, Patience," she replied. "Patience? I thought they were one player games?" asked Kelly. "They are, but a multiplayer one is possible. Let me show you," said Alicia. "But first!" Before getting the cards, she went over to her music system and pointed to two piles of CDs. "This lot is mine, that lot is Kelly's. To make things fair, we'll play one from each pile, alternating between the two." She picked up a CD from her pile and inserted it into her music system and pressed play. Then she went to get the cards. "So, I shuffle the cards first and then deal them all out. Someone is going to get an extra card, sorry." They were sitting on the floor in a circle. Once the cards had been dealt, Alicia continued. "Ok, no taking turns, you just deal your own cards, 3 at a time. When a card comes up that can be played, play it. I think we'll start on Ace, going up. First to use all their cards wins." So, they started going through their cards until all the aces had been found. The catch was that they sometimes needed an opponent to play a card before they could. In the end, Kelly won. "Ok, another round?" asked Alicia. "Start on two's this time." They kept on playing until they had started on every card possible. "What do you think of the music so far?" asked Alicia to Paula. "Not been listening really. Too busy playing cards," said Paula. "You'd better listen. I'm going to ask you questions on the lyrics later," said Alicia. Paula just sighed and sat back against the bed. The others decided to take a break from cards and concentrated on the music too. They kept glancing over to Paula from time to time, just to see what her reaction was. "Your hair is looking nice now," said Alicia. "Yep. Starting to get long now," said Paula. "You're enjoying this," said Kelly. "Not bad. I suppose I could get used to this," said Paula. The atmosphere was subdued as the trio of girls were truly "chilling out," Only when the CD ended, was there any movement, with Alicia getting up to change the CD. "Oh, I forgot to tell you," said Kelly. "My dad has got a job interview." "That's good news," said Paula. "Yes, I will get him out of the house at least," said Kelly. "Need something to do outside the house next week. I've got Monday and Tuesday off." "Lucky you," said Paula. "I've got Tuesday and Friday off." "So, Tuesday, we could spend the day together," said Kelly. "But where?" replied Paula. "Not town again." "Go elsewhere," said Alicia. "Use the bus. There are plenty of places further a field." "I'll go to the library on Monday," said Kelly. "They have a load of leaflets for nearby museums and attractions." "Good idea," said Alicia. "Now what about a game of Strip Jack?" * * * The game of Strip Jack went on forever, seeing that Kelly was nearly eliminated except for the fact that she held a Jack. But it was just a stay of execution as she was eventually eliminated. The battle for the win swung several times before Paula claimed it. By then, they were called down for dinner. Over dinner, they discussed possible activities for Paula and Kelly. "There's the Sealife Centre," said Mary. "Only one not on the coast." "Cool! Do they have dolphins?" asked Kelly. "Not sure," said Mary. "But good if you like fish and exotic marine animals." "Dolphins are one of her 3 favourite things," said Paula. "After Girl's Aloud and me." "I wouldn't mind going there," said Alicia, "But it's weekends only for now." "We're planning on having another day of pampering in July, just for you," said Kelly. "You have said that before. I look forward to it," said Alicia. After dinner, they listened to more music and played more games of cards. "Shame all the zoos are a good distance away," said Alicia. "You need a car to get to them." "Well, it looks like my red haired princess is loosening up a bit," said Kelly. "What?" asked Paula. "Don't deny it. You're enjoying the music. I saw you moving your hands in time with it," replied Kelly. Paula looked abashed. "Paula, don't worry about it. It's another learning curve for you. We'll make a girl out of you yet," said Alicia. "But I am a girl," said Paula. "For like 2 months?" said Alicia. "We've been girls every second of our lives. You've still a few things yet to learn." "But I've learnt a lot," said Paula. "She's right," said Kelly. "She just needs to learn how to live with long hair, and that lesson is still a few weeks away." "What about long hair?" asked Paula. "Only that it requires more care and attention," said Kelly. "But I wouldn't have it any other way." She then rested her head on Paula's lap. "Run your fingers through it, I know you like to," she said. Paula took the invite instantly. Kelly purring as she did so. "Turning into a cat, are we?" asked Alicia. "Maybe," said Kelly. "But I want her to stroke my pet cat too." Alicia for once was slow to work it out. Kelly had never mentioned having a pet cat before, then it clicked. She said nothing and smiled. "Is that cow of a dad of yours picking you up?" asked Paula all of a sudden. Kelly looked up and frowned. "Yes, he is. Why, what time is it?" "3:00pm," said Paula. "He's due at 3:30," she replied. "Before you go, Alicia owes you something," said Paula. Alicia looked puzzled. Paula looked to her and gestured with her lips. "Oh. Long time due," said Alicia. She went over to Kelly and kissed her fully. "I thought you were giving up girls?" asked Kelly. "Paula was right, I owed you that. I kissed her when I visited her a few weeks ago," said Alicia. "I asked her to," said Paula. "You don't mind, do you?" "No. As long as I'm the only girl you kiss in future," she replied. "You're the only one I ever want to kiss," said Paula, kissing her. Alicia just watched as they kissed long and passionately. "Do you want to use my bed?" she asked eventually. They broke apart and looked at her. "Was I disturbing you?" she added. "Sorry, we got carried away," they said. "I t ell that to Mike," smiled Alicia. "Though he is getting better." "I'd better do my lipstick," said Kelly. "If my dad notices 2 different shades, I'm dead." "All because he can't get it into his head that two girls can fall in love," said Alicia. "Hypnotise the bastard!" "Sounds good. I'll make him drink his own cum," said Kelly. "You're wicked at times," said Paula. "I know!" she smiled. Kelly got ready to leave while Paula made to stay put for a short while. "See you Tuesday for definite," she told Paula. "Bye then," said Paula. Alicia headed down with her and came back up once she had gone. "You don't have to go just yet," she said to Paula. "I enjoy the company. And by the way, her dad never saw you earlier, so you're safe." "That's good," said Paula. The one CD had yet to finish and they sat and listened to it. "I'm going to get you the girliest t-shirt I can find for you," she added. "Girly girl and proud!" Paula smiled at that. "Would you?" "I would if such a t-shirt existed," said Alicia. "Because it's the truth. You have fallen in love with everything girly and you're not afraid to admit it." "That's because I am a girl," said Paula. "Or so I do believe I was always a girl now. I'm not sure if it is true, but I like to think it." "Want to do my hair?" asked Alicia suddenly, picking up her hairbrush. Paula smiled and took the brush. She then began work on Alicia's chocolate brown hair. "I really do want my hair long," said Paula. "I love the feeling on my neck and on my ears already." "You'll love it past your shoulders then," said Alicia. "It will be great when it is, then we'll all be on the same boat." "It would be wonderful," said Paula. "Kelly and I could brush each others hair, we could shower together, sleep together." "You finished?" asked Alicia. "Daydreamer?" "What?" said Paula suddenly. "You were dreaming of Kelly," said Alicia. Alicia then took the brush and they swapped places. As she brushed Paula's red hair, she stopped and went over to her dressing table. "See how these look on you," she said. She put some hair clips into Paula's hair, drawing the hair from her face. Paula looked in the mirror and smiled. "They look nice," she said. "Anyone who doesn't believe you're a girl should see you now," said Alicia. "And you can keep them if you like. I can always get some more." "Thank you," said Paula. "Thank you for being a friend," said Alicia, kissing her on the cheek. * * * Paula stayed and listened to another CD, before deciding to head home. She quickly said hello and goodbye to James, who had just returned from work, and left. She arrived home shortly and headed for the toilet. "You're late. What happened?" asked Laura. "Alicia persuaded me to stop a while longer," she replied. She was just entering the bathroom when Joanne came over. "Like the clips sis," she said. "Just bought them?" "Clips? Oh, these," said Paula. "Alicia gave them to me." When she came back downstairs, it was Laura's turn to notice. "You still make me miss Paul, you know?" she said. "You don't want him back, do you?" asked Paula, worriedly. "If I had him back, it would mean losing you, and I've become quite attached to you now," said Laura. "Plus, looking at you, you've settled into your new life too much to want to go back." "Oh, that's a relief," said Paula. "Anyway, had a close call with Mr Walker earlier. He drove past on the way to Alicia's. Managed to stay out of sight, thankfully." "You mean he took Kelly to Alicia's? But seeing as he isn't at work, he has the time." "That's something else. Kelly told me he has got an interview," added Paula. "That is good news. I hope it turns out good for him," said Laura. Paula went into the living room, sat down and hid behind her copy of Lord of the Rings. Alex, who was sitting opposite, was reading a car magazine. No doubt, he was helping Joanne in her search for an affordable car. "She wants a Smart," said Alex. "But they're not that cheap, even if they are a 2 seater with a low capacity engine and measure barely 7 foot long." "How much does a new one cost then?" asked Paula. "About ?15'000," replied Alex. "Didn't think they cost that much." "What about used?" added Paula. "Obviously less," said Alex. "Thankfully, she isn't in a hurry for a car, so I've got time to hunt around for one." Paula decided then to go back to her reading. Still on volume one, the Fellowship had now reached Loth Lorien and Frodo had been shown one of the three Elven rings by Galadriel. By the time supper came, she had finished the first volume. Deciding to start the Two Towers at another time, she went to her room and watched television, before going to bed. Sunday came and Paula found it quiet as usual. With no Formula 1 that day, there wasn't much to do. She looked at her exam timetable once more, noting that there weren't many exams left to do. But now, her time with Kelly was going to be staggered. There were a few occassions when one of them would be in the hall sat at a table while the other would be doing something more recreational. Only Tuesday saw both of them away from school all day. Still, would Kelly come round on Monday afternoon? She at least decided to bring up the possibility of going to this Sealife centre on Tuesday. "Mom? We were discussing things to do next week and Alicia's mom suggested the Sealife centre." "Let me guess, you've both got the day off?" asked Laura. "Yes. The only day this week," said Paula. "Kelly has got all day tomorrow while I've got an exam in the morning." "So, it's a mixed bag this week?" said Laura. "So, the Sealife centre? I think I can manage that." Kelly on the other hand, was trying to work out what to do on Monday. Her dad had his interview on Wednesday. Not too bad as she had two exams that day. She just had to come up with reasons for staying away from the house all day. Her only solution thus far was to go to the library and spend a few hours in there. But would her dad buy this, two days in a row? Though Tuesday was now planned provisionally (she had told her mom about the Sealife centre), she had to tell her dad something else. She couldn't tell him about going with Paula and she couldn't say she was going on her own. Then it struck her. She got her mobile phone and called Linda. "Linda? Kelly here. Just a quick word, have you got Tuesday off?" she asked. "Why do you ask? Hold on, I'll just check," said Linda. Kelly held on for a few minutes. "I'm free. So, what was it?" asked Linda. "Paula and I have got that day off too and were planning on going to the Sealife centre. Do you fancy coming along?" asked Kelly. "Sure, why not. I can tell you that Kevin is in that day, so he won't be with us," said Linda. "Wanted the company?" "Sort of," said Kelly. "I just needed someone other than Paula with me. Otherwise my dad might start asking questions. I think he already suspects something but without proof, he can't say anything." "I see. Anyhow, I'd love to come. Make a change from watching the telly," said Linda. "I'll tell my mom and arrange to meet you somewhere." "I'll have to get Paula to give you her number. I think she prefers our company more now," said Kelly. "Ok. Have you got it?" said Linda. "Just a moment," said Kelly. She had to end the call to enter her phonebook. Having written it down, she phoned Linda again. "Here you are," said Kelly. She read it out twice, just to make sure Linda got it. "Thanks. I think I'll give her a call now," said Linda. Paula was downstairs when Linda decided to call her. She was just starting on the Two Towers when her mom called her. "Your phone is ringing," she said. "Is it? Ok, I'll get it," she said and rushed upstairs. "Hi Paula. How's it going?" came the reply. "Linda? I didn't know you had my number?" replied Paula. "Just say a little blonde girl gave me it," said Linda. "Kelly, I should have known! So, what is it?" said Paula. "Kelly has invited me to go with you on Tuesday. No problems there?" she replied. "No, I don't mind at all. But why?" asked Paula. "She's worried about her dad finding out that she's going out with you," said Linda. "That figures," said Paula. "So, you prefer girls company now?" asked Linda. "Yes. Don't get me wrong, but I like spending time with Kevin, but now it seems not right," said Paula. "You've only just become a girl, got a taste of the lifestyle and now you can't get enough of it?" suggested Linda. "That's it, basically," replied Paula. "But I really do enjoy being a girl now." "Ok, I suppose you're getting the bus in town?" said Linda. "Yes. Still got to arrange the time," said Paula. "Ok, I'll just sort things out with my mom. See you then," said Linda. "By the way, can I have your number?" asked Paula. "I'll bring it along on Tuesday," said Linda. "Bye." "Bye," said Paula. * * * Linda's mom Janet got in touch with Laura later that day. Linda herself would pass on information to Kelly and as a result, the visit to the Sealife centre was arranged. Sunday offered little else to Paula. She ended the day preparing for her exam the next day: history. It was one subject that Paula had regretted taking as a GCSE subject. It had focused on the political strife of the past century and didn't touch subjects she found interesting. "They fail to acknowledge that the Irish problem started when Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic church. In the years that followed, the country was torn between the Catholic and Protestant faiths," said Paula to Alex. "And to some degree, that tension still exists," said Alex. "They may have agreed peace in Ireland but the bad blood still lingers." However, the subject of the religious unrest in Ireland didn't interest her. The historical periods that interested her were the medieval years. To compensate for the lack of interesting history, she had, over the years, compiled a number of books on the subject. She now read them at her leisure. When Monday finally came, she got ready for what would be a day without Kelly, unless she went into town after school. She arrived for the history exam that morning, one of two exams that day, The afternoon exam was art and was not on her subject list. "Morning Mike," she said as she arrived in the dining hall. "Morning Kev." "Morning," they said in unison. "Just us three?" asked Paula. "Afraid so," said Mike. "Linda is in this afternoon for art," said Kevin. "By the way, is there a race on, this Sunday?" "Yes. Why?" asked Paula. "Drat," he replied. "Linda's parents have asked my parents out for dinner on Sunday, so I can't make it." "Don't worry," said Paula. "Keep Linda happy first." Kevin smiled. Paula could sense that he wasn't too sorry about missing the race. His relationship with Linda was steady going on serious. Perhaps more serious than steady. Paula didn't mind at all, for she was glad to see Kevin and Linda happy together. "Here we go," said Mike, pointing to the teacher that had just entered the dining hall. Upon arriving at the main hall, they noticed that the number of desks had been reduced greatly. For now, the desks were all taken up but Paula suspected that for some exams, there would be a few that would remain vacant. It was the usual exam routine however and just over 2 hours later, they were filing out of the hall. Mike was making for the dining hall to have dinner. "He doesn't do art," said Paula. "I should know." "He only has dinner here to meet up with Alicia," said Kevin. "Well, I'm done till Wednesday," said Paula. "Lucky you. I've got computer studies tomorrow and not one computer will be used," said Kevin. "No computers?" "None at all. Just loads of questions about the types of software, hardware and peripherals. I prefer just using a computer than knowing all the jargon," said Kevin. "Well, see you whenever," said Paula. "Off home now." "See you then," said Kevin. Again, Mike was too eager to reach the dining hall to say goodbye. Paula left the building and headed home, knowing that she wouldn't be seeing the place again until Wednesday. All she wondered now was what Kelly was up to. She could wait till tomorrow for that though. Her next exam was RE. It was a compulsary subject with a difference: extra lessons were optional and the exam came as part of the deal. So, not all students would be doing it. But revision could wait. For now, there were more pressing things such as seeing if there were any clothes she didn't have. "One of those tops that shows off your belly would be nice," she thought to herself as she perused her wardrobe. "Whatcha doing sis?" asked Joanne. "Just checking my wardrobe," replied Paula. "A few gaps I need to fill." "Thinking like a girl, I see?" she replied. "You need another shopping spree." Paula just smiled. "I think I do." "Maybe once the exams are over, we can," said Joanne. "I see Smarts are pricier than I thought." "Keep hunting. You never know what may turn up," said Paula. After dinner, Paula decided to continue reading Two Towers, bypassing anything that was written in Elvish. Half her mind however was on tomorrow and the trip to the Sealife Centre. "I think Paula is looking for the perfect outfit for tomorrow," said Joanne that evening. "So what if I am?" asked Paula. In truth, she was. She wanted to treat all day outs with Kelly as a sort of date and wanted to dress accordingly. "Just choose something casual. Party dresses are out," said Laura. "I wasn't planning on wearing a dress," said Paula. "So you were planning on something then?" asked Alex. "Yes I was!" said Paula, getting irritated. "We're not taking the mickey, sweetheart," said Laura. "We know too well now that you love Kelly very much and are always trying to impress her. She probably does likewise for you." Paula was heartened by that. At the Walker household, Kelly was doing just that. She had explained that she was going to the Sealife Centre with friends, to her dad. "Is that other girl going too?" he asked. "She has got an exam tomorrow," lied Kelly. She knew exactly who he was referring to and was quick to lie. He didn't know her exam timetable to be exact and he certainly didn't know Paula's either. "Whatever, I hope you enjoy your day," said Miriam, who knew the truth. "I'll give you some money in case you see anything you like." "Thanks mom," said Kelly. "If I ever find a place with dolphins, can you take me there?" "During the summer holidays? Sure we can," said Miriam. "Isn't that right Mark?" "Yes, we will," he replied. His mind was on Wednesday's job interview. Just before going to bed, Miriam had a word with Kelly. "Don't worry about him. He's just focused on this interview," she said. "I really hope he gets the job. Not just to give you more freedom either." "I know, mom," said Kelly. "I just wish he would accept me like you have. If only I could find a fortune cookie that would help that happen." "I'm not sure if you could. Besides, one fortune cookie has helped you already. You have the girlfriend you've always wanted," said Miriam. "It didn't help me, it helped Paula. It helped release the girl inside her. And there are others out there like her, who don't get this wonderful gift," said Kelly. "If that is the case, I hope they get the help they need," said Miriam. "Goodnight sweetheart." She kissed Kelly on the forehead and left her. Meanwhile, in the Smith house, Laura and Alex were turning in for the night. "Paula truly sees tomorrow as date," said Alex. "Because it's so obvious she wants to impress Kelly?" replied Laura. "But you were the same. You bought me flowers every week before we married." "I know. But I was hopelessly in love with a beautiful woman," he replied. "Still am." "We had some great times," said Laura. "Which I wouldn't mind reliving, right now." Alex smiled and went to turn off the light. "Ok handsome, show me how much you still love me," purred Laura. "Does this answer your question?" said Alex. "Oh yes," she replied. * * * Paula had a very strong feeling she knew why Laura was looking happier than usual next morning. "I'd say you and dad had a bit of fun last night?" she asked Laura. "Did we?" said Laura, trying to deny it. "You say we can't hide secrets from you," said Joanne. "I think we inherited that trait from you." "Oh well, you win. Your dad showed me he still has it," said Laura. "Planning on giving us a belated younger sibling?" added Paula. "I don't know if that is possible," said Laura. "We haven't really tried. You saying you would like another brother or sister?" "Could do with another brother to pick on after my old brother became a better person," said Joanne. "I became my true self," corrected Paula. "But if you did have another baby mom, I wouldn't mind helping you look after it." "Thank you Paula," said Laura. "So, I take it you do want another sibling?" The two girls smiled. "Ok, I'll see what I can do," said Laura. "But first, back to the day job. Jo, you need to be off or you'll be late. Paula, get some shoes on, and do your make-up. Kelly will want to see you looking good." "Yes mom," came two voices at once. Paula headed upstairs and sat at her dressing table. Joanne picked up her bag and coat and headed out for college. Laura cleared up the kitchen and did some quick washing up before heading upstairs to check on Paula. "Do you really want a younger brother or sister?" she asked Paula. "I would. I meant what I said mom. I would help you raise the child," said Paula. "I don't think there is any doubt that you wish to be a mother yourself one day. I hope that day comes," said Laura, taking her in a hug. "Now, are you almost ready?" "Almost. Just got to put my shoes on and pick up my handbag," she replied. As they headed for the bus stop, Laura decided to make a point. "Paula, I know it sounds silly now, but it might be best if you always had had a doll," said Laura. "A doll? What for?" asked Paula. "Remember, I was a tomboy, I never wanted a doll." "I'm trying to help with your "past"," said Laura. "Just say that when you were younger, I bought you a doll. You obviously didn't like it then, but you've discovered since that you like being a girl, to the degree that you want to be a mother." "Ok. So, you're going to buy me a doll?" said Paula. "I'll buy you a new one. A realistic baby doll. One you can pretend to nurse," said Laura. "Ok, but can you get it me for my birthday?" "That can be sorted," smiled Laura. "But one thing before we meet the others, I don't want you telling anyone that I'm considering having another child, is that clear?" Yes mom," said Paula. They caught the bus and headed into town, where they would meet up with the others and catch another bus into the city centre. They met up at the same place as last time. Kelly was already there, having come along with Miriam. Linda and her mom Janet arrived moments after they did. Paula greeted both her friends warmly as she now did, even kissing Linda on the cheek. As for Kelly, there was only one place to kiss: her lips, and Kelly made sure that their tongues became involved too. "Ready to go and see some fish?" asked Janet. "I say, it should be fairly quiet there too." "Middle of the week, most children are still at school?" said Laura. "Yes," said Janet. "Let's go and catch the bus then." With Laura and Janet sitting together, the girls took up seats near the back. "My mom is going to buy me a baby doll for my birthday," said Paula. "Aren't you a bit old for a doll now?" asked Linda. "I want to be a mother."said Paula. "She said she would get me a doll that I could pretend to nurse." "That sounds wonderful," said Kelly. "It only proves even more how much of a girl you are." "Kelly's right. I'm starting to forget Paul already," said Linda. "By the way Kelly, your hair is keeping its curl well." "I'm trying to make it last," said Kelly. "But the curls are starting to come out. Still, it leaves it looking wavy." "Still looks nice," said Paula, now running her fingers through it. "Linda, how come your parents asked Kevin to dinner?" "You mean this Sunday?" she replied. "They just did. You hadn't got anything planned?" "Just a race. I don't mind in the slightest and Kevin does want to be with you," said Paula. "I do prefer girls company now though." "Especially mine!" smiled Kelly. She planted another kiss on Paula's lips. "I think it's due to it being our final week of exams," said Linda. "After that, we won't be stepping foot in that school ever again." "Don't count on it," said Kelly. "Going to collect your results?" "Having them posted," said Linda. "The certificates?" added Kelly. "Ah, you have a point," said Linda. "I wonder if we'll have time to look around the shops too?" asked Paula. "Possibly," said Linda. "We have got the whole day." "Need some more clothes?" asked Kelly. "I need loads more," said Paula. "We'll be getting off soon," called Laura from the front of the bus. "Ok mom," said Paula. As they got up to leave the bus, Kelly made a remark. "You've got a nice bum, Paula," she smiled. Paula looked back and gave her a sly look. "Come on blondie, lets go," said Linda.

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 1

The Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 1 It was November and already Paul was getting a little tired of school. He had been back just 2 months and the homework was already piling up. It owed much to the fact that in May, Paul would be taking his GCSE exams. The school was eager for all students to get good results and bombarding them with homework seemed the best way of ensuring it. It was Friday, the weekend ahead and what should have been time for putting feet up and going out with...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 18

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 18 It was nearly 9:00am when Paul awoke next morning. Kelly was snuggled up beside him. He started to stroke her hair when she stirred. "Morning beautiful," he said. "What time is it?" she replied, yawning. "Nearly nine," he replied. "I've got to get ready, my dad is picking me up at ten." "Can't you stop a bit longer?" she asked, kissing him. "I've got to leave before your parents show up," he said. "Ok then," she sighed. He...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 38

The Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 38 Friday came and Paula was given the chance to have a few extra hours in bed. Having eventually got up, she washed and dressed before heading down for breakfast. "Morning," said Laura. "You have slept in." "I know," yawned Paula. "What're we doing today?" "Have some more mother-daughter time if you like," she replied. "That would be great. Just wish there was more I could do with my hair," said Paula. "In time. It is near to shoulder...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 25

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 25 Friday. The last day of term and as a result, just a half day at that. Paula knew that she would have some spare time on her hands today and she was wondering whether or not she could get some unplanned extra time with Kelly. But first there was still a first period to recover from. In fact, she felt worse. She got up and slowly made her way to the bathroom and took the tampon out. It was soaked in blood and this only made her feel worse still....

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 26

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 26 Paula and Kelly decided to go just after 5:00pm. Seeing that they were both making their own way home, they left together. "I'm sorry about earlier Kelly," said Paula. "I really do want to make love to you, but that was not the right moment." "We wanted to do it at her birthday party but that was when you were still Paul," she replied. "I know. If your parents weren't such cows, we may have done it by now," said Paula. They hadn't gone...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 22

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 22 Laura's shopping trip was nothing more than a trip to the local supermarket, to pick up some much needed groceries. With Paul's voice very much non existant, Laura spoke to him in a way that merely required him to shake or nod his head. However, he had an idea to make communication easier. They were taking a break from shopping and having a drink in a cafe. "It is awkward when you've lost your voice," said Laura. "I lost it for a while before you...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 10

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 10 It was Sunday and the last day of the holiday. Paul awoke knowing that the latest meeting with Paula (as he now refered to her) would have to be discussed with his family. His mother was in the same predicament. He checked to see whether his breasts had grown more or if anything else was different. Nothing had changed as far as he could tell. He washed and for the first time, decided not to use his shaving kit. Since it was now known that he...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 13

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 13 Paul arrived home and explained about his reformed friendship with Mike and how his parents had influenced his decision making. "Not really surprising to be fair." said Laura. "Homosexuality was illegal many years ago and is still shunned by many religions to this day. Despite much support for it since, the world in general still hates it." "But do people have to agree with other people? We have our independence." said Paul. "You do, but...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 27

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 27 Kelly awoke Tuesday morning wondering what her dad had got to say about her. She went down to breakfast and found him quickly sifting through the morning paper. He quickly glanced at her over the top of it and then retreated behind it again. Her mom just gave her a sympathetic shake of the head. In fact, not a word of the heated conversation was mentioned that morning. "Have a good day at work," said Miriam to her husband. "How long before...

Fortune Cookie Revised Part 42

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 42 Joanne decided to continue using her bus pass when ever possible, leaving her new car outside the house. "Are you ever going to use it?" asked Paula. "Yes, I will," replied Joanne. "My bus pass expires next month. But with the price of petrol too, I'll be using it sparingly." The matter ended there. Joanne finished college in July for the summer. She had some exams of her own to think about, which included creating several hairstyles. Her own...

Fortune Cookie (Revised) Part 56 Joanne was not pleased at the news that Paula brought her. She thought at first that Paula was winding her up and refused to believe her. "I'm telling you the truth, you idiot!" said Paula. "I overheard him telling the others that he is celebrating one year of engagement to his girlfriend! If you hadn't been so stupid and asked him rather than waiting for him to respond, I wouldn't have to be telling you this!" Joanne slumped to her bed and shook...

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 14 Paul spent the remainder of Saturday and all Sunday as Paula. By the time Sunday night came, everyone was having the same thoughts. "He doesn't want to be a boy again," said Laura. "The changes are definitely mental as well as physical." "He still knows who he is, but he sees himself as a girl," said Alex. "But he seems so much happier. It was a wrench to remove the varnish from his nails," said Joanne. Of the three, Joanne had most enjoyed...

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 8 Paul went to bed wondering what to put inside his shoes, allowing him to regain his lost height. He was becoming concerned about a lot of things - when would his parents be informed by the mysterious stranger and whether they would they accept him. He didn't know whether this was good or bad....

Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 48 Friday proved to be a day for Paula to put aside her success in the go- karting and look to two weeks without Kelly. For Kelly was going away with her parents the next day and when they came back the following Saturday, Paula and her family would be going away. So, for now, Kelly's now routine visit had an extra bit of importance to it. It was just well that Kelly had got over her period and was feeling much more in the mood for kissing. "Two...

The Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 5 Paul awoke next morning having not had a dream with his female self in it. He had just dreamt of Kelly and the thought of having her in bed with him. It was of course Sunday, and due to the day out with Kelly, he had a day of homework to look forward to. He found that Joanne seemed more cheerful than usual. Fortune Cookie 1 (Revised) Part 35 Travelling into town had it's reasons other than to give Paula and Kelly something to do. Kelly was to meet her mom at around 3:00pm as normal. But in the time that remained, Laura followed the girls and let them decide where to go. "Paula, have you tried tying your hair back yet?" asked Kelly. "Not really.
