her words of wisdom!
(Lana) Thank You Anne, it's my pleasure!
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) Lana, do you have an opening statement?
(Lana) I feel like I'm "on stage" all of sudden! I'm very humbled in the
presence of all these authors, since I'm not actually an author....yet!
(Bashful) Do you live in Australia?

(Lana) No. I'm in "The States". The voice you hear was lifted long ago from
another site.
(Bashful) Could you be more specific?
(Lana) GO BUCKS! (Ohio)
(SteveZ) Lana, your site seems to be primarily TV and movie oriented, of which I watch
very little. Am I missing much, do you think?
(Lana) Not really Steve. The stuff archived at my site spans many years. There really
isn't that much out there, which is why I decided to make the site.
(SteveZ) So yours is a good site to get references from?
(Lana) Yes, many times there is a show or a movie you may have remembered seeing and
you just want to "revisit" it or look up new ones. That's what I was looking for
one day and couldn't find , so I started the site.
(SteveZ) Great idea! I'll be back to visit regularly.
(Mindy) Pardon the pun, but how many hours a week to you spend going over TV Guide :)
(Lana) Mindy, that's kind of funny, because I don't ever find much in the TV Guide, but
I read it consistently, this is embarrassing, ....on the john. :~)
(Mindy) So how do you find out when a movie will air?
(Lana) Mindy, I find out about upcoming movies basically by hit-n-miss and many I find
on YOUR hyperboard! I count on people to keep me informed via e-mail or the bulletin board
on my site, I then repost the data. I now have a mailing list started for TG VCR updates
and other news, 50 members strong!
(Lorna) I'm one who Luvs related graphics!! Your 'media' page has several 'soon to
arrive' items that have been there quite a while. Are there problems getting the graphics
or just time constraints?
(Lana) Lorna, I feel really bad about that. I once had someone ask me what my
definition of "soon" was. I told that person I would change "soon" to
"when I get a round to it" and I'll do that SOON! :~) It just takes time to set
up the VCR, grab the pictures and workout the page. It's easier to get more done in the
Winter.
(Lorna) {;-) If you'll accept contributions I maybe could accommodate.
(Lana) I love contributions and WELCOME them! Anne Mal is my biggest contributor and I
want to thank her here and now for all she's contributed so far!

(Willows) Were you surprised that "Cleo/Leo" was voted "favorite TG
movie" instead of more well-known movies like "Goodbye Charlie" or
"Switch"?
(Lana) Willows. Yes! Actually I was VERY surprised! My favorite is "Dating The
Enemy", but I'm afraid not a lot of people have had the opportunity to view it yet.
(Willows) Why do you think "Cleo/Leo" is so popular?
(Lana) I was surprised about "Cleo/Leo" because it is a low budget film and
out of the mainstream, but I suppose it was a favorite because of how it dealt with Leo
actually becoming Cleo and the unusual "happy ending" that most of these movies
don't have.
(Bashful) You said you are not an author yet, are you working on a story?
(Lana) Yes, I have one which I'm collaborating on with Cleo Kraft, she's been super
about working with me on it. It's called "Glass Ceiling". I am also am working
on two stories called "Switchback at Noon" and "The Grapevine".
(JB) How did you get the animation for the Weird Science clip on your site?
(Lana) JB.. Starhawk sent me the Weird Science stuff, I think it's from the very first
episode.
(Lorna) It is!
(Chrissy) What is your favorite media items with TG elements in them?
(Lana) Chrissy.. My favorite TV TG episode is from Star Trek, "Turnabout
Intruder". My favorite TG Movie is "Dating the Enemy", which has great
music too! My favorite TG Book is "Identity Matrix" by Jack Chalker.
(Mindy) Which actress or actor do you feel has done the best TG part and not gone over
the top?
(Lana) Gosh! Mindy, "that's a Tuffy!" In "Cleo/Leo" they both did a
great job, especially for a low budget film. The tendency seems to be to over act, like
Ellen Barkin did in "Switch"! How hard can wearing high heels be?
(Willows) No kidding "Switch" was a completely clueless movie!
(Lana) I recently got to see "Give me back My Skin" and "Por Un Hombre
En Tu Vida". The acting was kind of hard to judge because I was too busy reading
subtitles, but I think both were quite good and the acting was great.
(bdt) Lana in the television section there hardly anything mentioning the series'
"Weird Science" or "Quantum Leap", how come?
(Lana) bdt, my site is not an exhaustive list. I can only put on the things I can get.
I intend for it to constantly grow and hopefully they'll be there someday.
(Lorna) Lana, the head-shot photo on your webpage is beautiful! Do you 'indulge' often?
Do you have an SO who knows about and supports your 'interest'?
(Lana) *Blush* Lorna, thanks! I used to "indulge" quite often, but these days
I indulge more in the virtual world. I have an SO that is very understanding, but I also
have kids whom I don't wish to burden with it.
(Mindy) Have you ever read a TG story that you said, "Wow! Let me produce this and
make it into a movie!"?
(Lana) Mindy! You're good! Give me at least a second to think about that one!
(Mindy) Well I think that while some of the authors would like to be published, let's
take it to a higher level and talk about screen plays! :)
(Lisa) I think that we all would!
(Lana) Mindy, that's so hard for me to sort out so quickly! There are so many great
stories! I really liked the story that Robo collaborated on recently, but I can't remember
the name of it!
(SteveZ) "The Bet", Robo's and Eric's story, edited my me!
(Lana) Thanks Steve! "The Bet" was really good! I kind of lean towards the
Outer Limits-like one hour anthology type productions, rather than the full length movies.
Many of Fictionmania's stories would fit that type of show quite well.
(Jennifer) Do you have any interest in ballet themes in TG stories?
(Lana) No, I'm not into ballet.
(Bashful) Do you read the stories on Fictionmania and do you have any favorite authors?
(Lana) Gosh Bashful! Put me on the spot, why don't you? I like Bill Hart, Cleo Kraft,
Raven, Eric, Morpheous, Liz Bennett, Lisa L and ALL Of The Rest!!!!

(Lana) I like short stories, I always have. I guess it's an "instant
gratification" thing. That's why I have the pictures and sounds that I post at my
site.
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) Do you have a wish list of items that you want for your website?
(Lana) I want to add a TG Trailer Park with AVI files like the ones the Mad Scientist
made!
I have a lot of stuff waiting to be processed! "A Saintly Switch" (Good sound
bites from in that one!), "Switch", "Goodbye Charlie" and a bunch of
others!

(Moderator_Anne-Mal) Any movies or books that you would like to have on your site?
(Lana) Well, There's some Japanese films that I haven't been able to get.
I have always hoped for a sequel to "Vice Versa", where the two switched
thieves came back and sought revenge, where they switch the dad with his girlfriend.
There's supposed to be an episode of a show called, I think "Central Park"?
That dealt with a witch swapping a man and a woman?
(Lisa) It has eluded me for 2 years now! "Central Park West"
(Lana) Thank you!
(Lisa) You're welcome! *Smile*
(Mindy) Star Trek was done in the late 60's and stereotypes were a lot different than
now! Shatner, I feel played a good transformed Dr. Lester for the time.
(Lana) TV Guide said that "Shatner's acting talents are showcased in this
episode....". I agree he did do a good job, he didn't act all "faggy" like
Grear did in "A Saintly Switch". I saw that episode of Star Trek when I was 8
years old and it stayed with me. The funny part is how they all agreed he could no longer
be Captain if he was female. Now we have Janeway!
(Mindy) Will TG movies 10 years from now be easier or harder to make?
(Lana) Mindy, I think the TG movies will be MUCH easier to make and there will be so
many more because of the changing attitudes.
(Andy) Star Trek's "Turnabout Intruder" was a fairly serious story, but
usually TG elements are played for laughs in the mainstream. Any hopes for better stories
than just 'laugh at the poor sap who turned into a woman'?
(Lana) Sure, Andy, I think we all hope for that. I think that's why
"Cleo/Leo" and "Dating The Enemy" are so popular! Although they are
humorous, they aren't silly like "Switch".
(Andy) Underground movies or cartoons could 'inspire' better stories in the mainstream.
With more desktop movie making and digital animation software coming onto the market,
there should be a lot more soon.
(Lana) Also as attitudes change and as the TG theme becomes less taboo, there will
undoubtedly be more!
(Willows) What do you think are the biggest "missed opportunities" for TG
stories in TV or movies? For example, none of the recent "Virtual Reality"
movies have used TG elements, even though they are perfect for it!
(Lana) Yes, Willow you answered your own question. There should be a lot of TG in the
new virtual realms of movies. I've been disappointed in Sliders not going there either. As
I mentioned earlier, the apparent sequel to "Vice Versa", what ever happened to
those thieves that got TG swapped?
(Willows) I know! That drove me crazy that we only saw them for a second after they
were swapped!
(Lana) While the TV shows Turnabout and Goodbye Charlie never went anywhere, maybe it's
finally time for a new stab at it?
(SteveZ) Lana, do you think there is much interest in transvestitism on TV or just TG?
One big one for me was the first episode of Batman, where the Riddler had Jill St. John
dress up as Robin. You should see the fantasy short stories I've written just for myself
based on this!
(Lana) I would like to check them out! I LOVE the original Batman episodes, in fact I
tried to make my website "campy" like that show! I vaguely remember the episode
you speak of. We'll just have to track that down!!
(Bashful) Do you see TG fiction going mainstream?
(Lana) Bash, I don't see it going mainstream in a big way. I think you will see more of
it, but it will never be a major genre.
(*Anne-Mal) Could you explain what your plans are for your site?
(Lana) I want my site to keep growing. I want it to grow based on input from the users.
I don't want it to just be what I feel like posting. I want it to be a fun and friendly
place to visit! Just fun! There are so many sites dedicated to outreach for those that
need help and those sites are needed. Mine is just for fun!
I want to have a good archive of sites and sounds from the media. I'm looking forward
to expanding the newly added BOOKS section! I think it would be just FAB to add some
excerpts from some of the best parts of the books, along with some reviews!
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) How about "Tootsie"? Or the first episode of the Archie
cartoon series where Archie gets Betty's bottom half while Veronica gets Jughead's bottom
half?
(Lana) That could be fun to explore!
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) Yes, that was actually in the first episode of the cartoon series.
(Lana) Also before I forget, I have discussed with Raven about him and Eric exploring
the possibility of doing Fan Fiction at my site! Starting with a Star Trek alternate
universe, where Kirk stayed as Janice in "Turnabout Intruder"!
(Willows) There's certainly something about the uptight, repressed Star Trek universe
that inspires people to write TG scenarios for it!
(SteveZ) Lana, have you ever read the Star Trek story, "Procrustean Petard"?
(Lana) No.
(SteveZ) Lana, that story is so full of TG it's not funny! I'll try and get a copy to
you.
(Regal) Is there a TV show you really wish would have a TG episode?
(Lana) Regal, wouldn't it be cool if Victor Newman and Jill swapped on "The Young
and The Restless" or a Scully and Muldar swap on X-files?
(Regal) Well, soap operas have done everything else!
(Lana) I'm sure that that one won't happen, but it does spark the imagination if you're
familiar with the show! Others I would like to see are Sliders, Poltergeist and Deep Space
Nine.
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) What about Dax on DS9?
(Willows) Dax doesn't *feel* like true TG.
(Andy) They did an episode where various crew were temporary hosts for Dax's past
personalities; Quark got one of the female ones.
(Lana) The whole Dax thing is so convoluted that I have to agree with Willow. I think
they used it to titillate but backed out of the actual TG.
I didn't get a chance to mention that I have been in e-mail correspondence with both
Jack Chalker, "Identity Matrix" and Jean Marie Stein, "Synapse", they
have both seen my site. Stein really likes the Synapse page and wants to contribute!
(Regal) Good. :)
(Mindy) I thought the ending was a little trivial in "Synapse"!
(Lana) Jean Marie told me she wanted the title to be "Thanks for the
Mammaries". I'm sure she is kidding. She's a TS by the way! I think she
was pre-op when she wrote it and she said the producer wouldn't change her name in the
movie credits.
(Willows) Cool! When's Chalker going to starting writing some more TG stuff? (That is
when is he going to write another book! They go hand in hand where Chalker's concerned!)
(Regal) "Priam's Lens" is out, but I don't think this one has TG or
transformations. He has one or two books in the pipeline.
(Willows) Really? I haven't seen it.
(Bashful) The ending was anti-climatic.
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) Could you name a foreign film we shouldn't miss?
(Lana) "Give Me Back My Skin" is very funny! French humor, a little like
British humor, very different from anything Hollywood puts out. Which reminds me. There
was a chat the other night from an author that writes movie reviews? I had asked him if he
would write reviews for my site.
(Moderator_Anne-Mal) That was ChilliTNG and he did say he would!
