Yankee Swap, Chapter 6: No more Ken
Ken leaned towards Stacy and whispered "Stacy, what are we doing here? I
haven't the faintest idea how to act and you've plopped me in the middle
of a fishbowl. I'll never pull this off." They were sitting at the best
table in the fanciest restaurant that Ken had ever seen. Ken tried to
fathom how it was that he had wound up here, dressed in a gorgeous green
wisp of a dress, with what appeared to him to be a professional makeover,
breast forms, a wig, and two new holes in his ears, which showed off a
pair of beautiful Opal earrings. Whenever he saw his reflection in a
mirror, he had trouble focusing on anything except how beautiful he was,
and how good it felt. Without a mirror to distract him, he pictured
himself more like an Iguana in bunny ears. No one would mistake him for
a mammal.
"Really, Kim, you need to relax. What do you mean you don't know how to
act? Every move you make is perfect. Your posture is wonderful, you
cross your legs the right way, and I'm even reconsidering those stiletto
heels because you walk very well, and you would look so sexy in them.
I'll bet you've been doing this for years to be this good."
"Try two days. I only came to your store because I was too stupid to
read the directions on the adhesive and wound up stuck with these." He
said, waving at his bust.
Stacy looked at him hard for a while, then said, "Two days? You've got
to be pulling my leg. You are a natural. Hold on." She opened her
purse and pulled out a compact, opened the case and pointed the mirror
towards Ken. "OK, now look at yourself - look hard. See the hair, the
eyes, the lips, earrings. Now look at your hands and nails, and look at
your dress. Now close your eyes, and focus on the image of yourself in
the seat, a beautiful young woman, dressed to the nines. Think of the
fun that girl would have in a place like this. Now, just sit there for a
minute. And then tell me how do _you_ feel? What are your emotions?
What is your world right now?"
Ken sat with his eyes closed and felt many things. He was afraid,
nervous, and he felt something he could only describe as shame. At the
same time, he also felt alive, like maybe never before. He loved the
feel of his hair, stockings, and dress on his skin. He was starting to
get used to, and enjoy, the pull of his breasts on his chest. All of
these sensations were sort of at hyper intensity. Just the feel of his
legs against each other as he crossed them was a thrill. And beyond all
of that, he felt a peace that he thought he would never experience as
long as he lived. Most of his life, he had said he existed in a state of
partial depression. A few things would hold his interest, but never for
more than a couple weeks. Now he was on a constant high, and never
wanted to come down.
"OK, that's enough pondering. Tell me what you're feeling. If it helps,
do it in the third person as if you are describing someone else."
"Well, Ken is..."
"No no no NO!" Stacy interrupted. "Does Ken wear a dress? Do you think
I would be having dinner here with Ken? Please refer to yourself only in
feminine names and pronouns for the rest of the night, OK, for me?"
"Well I am really nervous and afraid, but Kim is... Well she feels
great! She is a little dazed by the whole experience, and can't
comprehend how she wound up in this place looking as she does. In fact,
the only thing more inexplicable is how darn good looking that is. And I
have to tell you, I feel she radiates a Peace that is beyond
comprehension."
"You mentioned fear and nerves, is there anything else?"
"Yes, I feel a little ashamed. No, not a little. It's really
overwhelming unless I concentrate on how good I feel as Kim."
"Finally. Well Kim, first, I admire your honesty and openness to someone
you've known only a few hours. Second, I'm afraid to say I could talk
to you for weeks about this, but you just need to get through it on your
own. We all feel shame about things that society tells us are aberrant.
That is normal. What is not normal is to think that "society" is always
right. Try to focus on the positive you feel through Kim, and the other
things will subside, over time. Now, you didn't mention this, but I
will. You will wonder what you would do that Ken would not. Remember
that the one thing you do have in common with Ken is your ethical
standards. You may do or say things now that you would have been too
inhibited to do or say before, but your inner core has not changed. I
good and decent person is still good and decent, even if they wear a
dress! Anyway, enough lecturing. Just one question, Kim. Are you
happy?"
She replied without even thinking, "Yes, I am. Very happy. And Stacy,
thank you, really. I am sure this would never have happened without you.
I was prepared to buy the solvent, take these off and go home, and forget
this ever happened. You are a blessing."
"Thank you, Kim. And I know you would have done just that, and it would
have been a tragedy. That's why we keep the solvent in the back room,
and why I decided not to sell any to you today. It is also why I did the
makeover and practically forced you to come here tonight. I hope you
know I only had your best interest at heart, and if you really protested,
we would not be here. I don't know what made me take such liberties with
you, but I think it's because you remind me so much of myself. Can you
forgive me?"
Kim looked at her for a minute with her mouth hanging open, then realized
how that must look. "You... I... You..." And she couldn't help it,
she just started to giggle, and the more she thought about it, the
funnier it got, and the more she giggled.
"Really Kim, you'll make a scene," Stacy said, but she had a wide smile
on her face as well.
"Oh Stacy, you are a... well you are something, and there is nothing to
forgive. My God, you are like the sister I never had. And as Kim I can
say I owe you my life!"
Stacy smiled and said, "Well that may be an exageration, but I can say
Welcome to the club!"
The ordered their meals and chatted about the store and how Stacy could
make a profit in the business she was in. She explained that it was
profitable enough, and she had finally found her calling in life.
Especially on nights like this.
"Well, we better get moving. My guests don't want to arrive before the
hostess! Oh, and Kim, I'll give you a bottle of the solvent before you
have to go."
"Thanks, Stacy, but I wonder now if I will really need it!"
"Oh, you will. Besides, there are better ways to have natural looking
breasts!"
