Ken woke at his usual time and pulled off the nightgown, bra and panties,
and headed for the shower. He figured he would remove the breast forms

might want a few other items that would help him explore this new

wondering what it would take to "pass" so a casual observer wouldn't

long hair. Of course, he wasn't thinking at all he could do anything

In the shower, he was excited again by the smooth feeling of his nearly
hairless body, and with the warmth of the shower, and the feel and look

and remembered that Cheree had disposed of all his bulky items.? She had

clothes would not fit if he "got fat" as she used to say.? He looked
through her closet and bureau and found a large sweater that he figured
was as good as he could get.? The only problem was that it was a pale
yellow that he only associated as female coloring.? He put on some jeans
and his boots, and covered up with his jacket.? Again, the jacket

stopped and left it behind, but the day was moving on and he should be
too.
He had a few tense moments, such as realizing just before the toll booth
that he had only a ten dollar bill, and having to fumble to quickly put
on some gloves to cover the nail polish.? Of course, the only ones in the
car were the small knit gloves, and he thought for one second that he
would have to take them off to get the change back without dropping it.
It all worked out fine since the folks in the toll booth are very
efficient due to the number of tolls they have to take each day. And,
Ken thought, they?ve probably seen this and much more over the years. He
also realized he had no idea where this place was and wound up stopping
at a pay phone to call for instructions.? While he was writing them down,
a large pickup with a name of a construction company on the side parked
right next to him.? The three occupants stared at him the entire time
obviously waiting to use the phone.? After he returned to his car, he
realized he had forgotten to put on the gloves, and his bright pink
fingernails were on display.? He glanced at the truck, but no one was
staring any longer.? They had the phone and no more interest in him.
That's it, he thought.? I'm not holding out any more.? I'm getting a cell
phone!
Fortunately, the store was in a quiet area, and very few cars were in the
parking lot.? He still scanned nervously and entered the store with his
tiny gloves on.? The place seemed enormous.? There were racks of clothes
in all sizes and styles, from casual to elegant formal wear.? Costumes
were in abundance, mostly either maid or nurse, it seemed, though there
was the occasional witch or space creature.? Another section was filled
with lingerie, and more rooms beckoned off to the sides.? Ken started to
look for the remover, and had found the adhesive he had used, when a
quiet voice almost whispered behind him "Can I help you today?"
Ken jumped and turned around to find a young woman with long brown hair
behind him.? She was wearing a white shirt and long denim skirt, and a
pair of low heeled sandals.? "I'm Stacy." she said.? "Are you looking for
adhesives?"
"No," Ken replied, "actually, the opposite of that.? This is the
adhesive, uh, that was used.? I need the solvent."
"Hmm, let me look out back.? We don't usually sell much of that adhesive,
and I'm not sure we have any solvent."
"Oh great," moaned Ken.
"Sorry?"
"Oh nothing - I'll wait here."
"Thanks."
Stacy made her way into one of the side rooms and came back in a moment
empty handed.? "I'm sorry, but we don't have that right now, although we
are expecting a shipment on the Second that should have some in it.? We
were hoping to have it here for the celebration, but it was delayed in
shipment.? Probably a snowstorm in Poughkeepsie.? Are you coming to the
big event?"
"Sorry, I'm from out of town - a celebration?"
"Yes, it is our first anniversary bash!"? It will be a real hoot, since
our business anniversary coincides with New Year's, things can be really
crazy and nobody notices.? And if you buy something from the store, you
get in free!? We've even lined up a section of rooms for our guests at a

"Ken."
"Good, well Kim, you just look around the store for a bit and let me make
a couple phone calls to see if I can find that solvent for you today.

"That would be great!? Thanks!"? Ken wandered off, and then realized she
had called him Kim.? Well, she can call me Abe Lincoln if she finds the
solvent, he thought.? He found himself in a room full of wigs and other
things he couldn't make sense of.? He found the wigs were sorted by
length, and wandered down to the longer section.? He found a beautiful
wig.? It was a light reddish color - too deep for Strawberry Blonde, but
too light to call red.? It was shorter in the front, framing the face on
the mannequin, and the sides and back lay on top of the false breasts.
He felt the hair, and it felt and looked real.? As he was examining it to
see how it fit to the head, he was interrupted by Stacy again.
"You need to stop sneaking up on your customers," Ken joked.? "You'll
give one of them a heart attack!"
"Maybe I should wear bells that chime when I walk!" Stacy said.? "Seven
and a quarter, I think.? Wait right here!" and she was off again.
Ken wondered what she meant as he returned to examining the wig to see
how it would stay put, when he heard a faint chiming from behind.? He
turned around, and Stacy was coming back, and had a bracelet on her wrist
with small bells on it.? She was also carrying a box.? "Have a seat right
here" she said, pointing to a small backless stool.
Without thinking, Ken sat as he was told, and she stepped behind him and
said "I think we have a lead on the solvent.? There is a customer who
uses that adhesive, and if she has the solvent, I am sure she would share
some with you.? Now hold still."
Ken was about to turn around to thank her when she gently placed
something onto his head.? Before he could think of what to do, she had
lifted the edge in a couple places and said "There, no step over to the
mirror and see how you like it."
Ken stood and faced the mirror, and discovered the wig he had been
examining was now on him.? He was stunned, and could not move or speak.
The hair framed his face just as it had the mannequins.? Stacy had picked
up a brush and was brushing out the ends and placing it on his shoulders.
Again, before he could react, she had unzipped his jacket and pulled it
off of him, to better see how the hair would lay.? "I don't..." he
started, and lifted his hands, but the image in the mirror had him
transfixed.? Unfortunately, Stacy had taken this as a request for help
and quickly pulled off his gloves, exposing the delicately painted
fingernails.
"Oh, I love that shade," she said.? "Where do you get them done?"
"I didn't, I mean I did it myself.? I..."
"Oh, you should let someone else do them for you!? It is really a treat!?
Here, come with me!"? She led him off into another room.? As he walked,
he felt the hair brush the side of his face and tickle the back of his
neck.? He felt himself in kind of a surreal trance, unable to stop this
astounding sequence of events.? He found himself in a chair with Stacy
massaging a cream into his cuticles.? "Your nails are really short.? Of
course, we can fix that, just as we fixed your hair.? I think we can even

"I do think we need to change to match your hair now.? Leave it to me,
and I'll set you up.? You still like the hair color?? I think it matches
your eyes.? What color was your hair when you were young?"
From somewhere deep inside, his brain answered as if on autopilot, "My
mother said it was almost orange when I was born."? He seemed incapable
of answering more than the last question posed to him.? And her end of
the conversation left little room for input.
"Here, I'm going to put this warm towel on your face.? You just sit back
and relax and before you know it that solvent will be yours!"
Well, she obviously has no problem with me wearing fingernail polish, and
I can just put my gloves back on, so why not relax and wait.? With that,
Ken drifted off to an uneasy sleep.
"Wake up, sleepyhead!"?he heard, along with a faint tingling.? "It's time
for you to be unveiled!"
Ken recalled where he was and came fully awake in a short time.? He felt
refreshed as if he had slept a full night.? "I feel great, Stacy.? You
certainly know how to treat your customers!"? He glanced down and saw his
fingernails.? Long fingernails now extended an inch or more past the ends
of his fingers, and were done in a subtle shade that he knew would match
the hair he felt still brushing his neck.? The ends were done in a French
manicure style that seemed to accentuate the length.
"Well, I can see you admiring your new nails.? Let's see how you like the
total effect."
Ken was swirled around in the chair, and looked in the mirror at the
reflection of a strange woman who somehow looked familiar.? The makeup
job he had done was now hown for the amateur job that it was.? His entire
face was beautiful, and almost unrecognizable.? He realized his brows had
been plucked to a thin line gracefully arching over his eyes, which were
done in a way that accentuated his eye color and new hair.
"I'm...? It's... Wow!" Remembering his earlier curiosity, he asked, "How
does the wig stay on?? What do you have to do to take care of it?"
"I'll take the first as a compliment, and the second that you have
decided to buy the wig."
"Sure," Ken said, without even thinking.
"I'll fix you up with everything you need.? It is another adhesive, but
I'll make sure you have the solvent you need.? Speaking of which, I have
good news and good news!? Which do you want first?? Just kidding - my
friend does have the solvent, but the good news is she doesn't have time
to bring it over before our celebration party, so you'll just have to
wear that new wig of yours and join us!"
