Wish Shift: Chapter Eighteen Two By Moonlight Year 1 A.S. Day 92 Jenny slowed the truck down and stopped. The little ticket booth at the gate had peeling white paint on its wooden walls and there were a few scattered weeds growing at the base of the small building. Jenny leaned out of the window slightly and handed over the twenty-five dollar admission to the sixty year old man who was bouncing up and down to whatever was on his I phone between cars. He took her money and she drove slowly into the walled off field that stretched in front of the giant projection wall. "I'm actually kind of looking forward to this," she said to Derek as they drove slowly past the small building in the back that housed the bathrooms, concession stand and projector. "I haven't been to one of these since I was a boy." "I've never been to one of these," Derek said. "I usually get my films on DVD or I just stream it off of the net and just watch at home." He looked around at the other cars that were starting to fill up the lot. Some of them were trucks like they were in and others were just ordinary cars. There were old cars, new cars, cheap cars and some that he thought would be too expensive for their owners to be here. Apparently liking a film seen this way was one of those experiences that was broadly shared. She looked over to him as she slowly navigated along the path left by all the cars that had driven here before. She didn't want to get too far back from the screen and getting too close was not really one of those things she had liked when she was a kid. Having to crane your neck up to see properly took some of the thrill off of having the huge screen right at your feet. "You have been deprived," she said raising her voice slightly on the last syllable. "There's a good spot," she said motioning with her head to a place just offside of the center with a slight incline in the sixth row. She pulled the truck slightly past the spot and started backing it in. She tried to pull as close to the pole as possible before she parked the truck and shut down the engine, but she didn't want to get too close to it either. She took out the key and looked over to Derek. "Let's get this set up," she said. She dropped the tailgate of the truck and hoisted herself up into the bed. Off to her left she could see someone else in another truck doing the same thing. The difference was that they were spreading a small overhead tarp over what they were sitting on in the truck bed. Jenny hoped for the sake of the people behind them that it didn't go up too high and block the view. "Can you get that speaker off of the pole and hand it to me? she asked Derek. "This thing?" he said pointing the oblong metal speaker. "Yeah," she said. "That's it, pass it up to me." He handed it up to her. Jenny took it and pulled it as far as the cord would reach and found a place to hook it onto the edge of the truck bed. She looked up to the darkening sky. She didn't see why the people in the other truck had brought a tarp to use as a fly over them. It wasn't going to rain and with it up they wouldn't be able to see the stars. Living in what China considered a small city, one of the things she had missed was seeing the stars spread out overhead at night. Derek climbed up after her and watched as she unfolded the lawn chairs she had put in earlier and shifted the blue and white cooler in between them. She unfolded some padding and laid it down on the chairs and opened the sliding window in the rear of the truck. "I could have said no," he said eyeing the pair of chairs. "It didn't take any real effort to put it in," she said. "And if you said yes and I didn't bring it then where would you sit?" she asked. "Good call," he said. After a minute of reaching into the cab she turned to him. "I can't reach the bags inside, you wanna jump down and get them out of the cab for me?" "Yeah, I can do that," he said jumping down over the side of the truck bed. "Probably should have grabbed them on the way out," he added. He opened the door, picked up the bags and handed them over the side to Jenny. As he handed them to her she thought she smelled the odor of burning charcoal from one of the rows further back. She wondered if it was from the snack bar or if Kirby allowed you to do that. She'd ask her about it if she remembered to whenever they got the chance to talk again. Jenny put the two bags next to the cooler and started picking through the smaller bag. "Oh, damn it," she said. "What happened? Forget something?" Derek asked climbing back up into the truck bed. "As if," she said pulling out a big quart tub of potato salad. "Bob did it again," she said. "Did what?" he asked. "He gave me extra," she said. "This was supposed to be a pint," she said pointing to the potato salad. "And this," she held up a clear plastic bowl of banana pudding. "I didn't even ask him for this." "I keep telling him not to do it and he keeps ignoring me," she said resignedly. "Sounds like Bob's looking out for you. But if you really don't want it I'll have a crack at it," Derek said sitting down in the chair. "Didn't say I didn't want it," she said putting it back in the bag. Jenny handed him some disposable utensils and reached into the small canvas bag she had shifted under her chair and pulled it out. She looked up at the darkening sky and put down a small battery powered bug zapper near the far edge of the tailgate. "Don't need to turn it on yet," she said, "but that won't last long. She looked over to the pole the speaker had hung on and wondered if she had enough line to run it there before deciding that it was better off where it was. She reached for some insect repellent and sprayed some on her before handing the bottle to Derek. She sat down and started loading up her plate. It wasn't dark enough for the film to start, but from the way the sun was dropping it would be soon. She opened the cooler and tossed him a cola. "So how long have you owned Java Jolts?" she asked taking a bite of the still warm chicken. "Since I was twenty-four," he said. "That's kind of an ambiguous answer these days," she replied looking up to watch the stars emerge while the sun set. "How so?" he asked. "Well, you could have run it for the last thirty years. So what did you do? Switch into one of your customers?" she asked. "I didn't switch," he said half looking away like the admission made him embarrassed in some way. He looked back and took a bite out of a drumstick. "Bob did good on this," he commented and took another bite. "Yeah, he did," she said. "Nice and crispy. So you really didn't switch at all?" "Nope," he said. "Everybody around me did, but I didn't ." She looked at him. "Aren't you a little young to own a place like that?" she asked. "I mean I'm no expert, but I'd say that it looks like it's been there for much longer than couple of years." Derek finished his drumstick and tossed the bone in a bag. A lot more cars had pulled into the field since they had arrived and set up their spot. He was already seeing more cars here than he expected to and by the entrance a line was slowly forming with more waiting to get in. "It has," he said dipping some potato salad onto his plate. "My aunt Dina started it just after my parents died. I inherited it from her three years ago." "I'm sorry to hear that," Jenny said. "Do you have any other family?" "Some very distant cousins I've never met, but other than them no," he said. "What happened to your parents? If you don't mind saying," she added. "They were killed in a car accident when I was eleven," he said scooping some more potato salad onto his plate. "A cop t-boned their car chasing somebody else. I lived with my aunt after that." "Now I feel embarrassed," she said. The sun was starting to fade and she figured that it would be dark enough for them to start in the next few minutes. She heard a soft whine that signaled an approaching mosquito and got up to hook up the little square battery to the small bug zapper. "How so?" he asked. "Even with the shift, I still have almost all of my family with me. And you hardly have any. I don't even have any idea what it would be like to have them gone for good like that," she said looking at the distant screen in the gathering twilight. "I'm actually used to it," he said. "But from what I see, your family seems really close." "We are," she said, "we're practically in each other's pockets sometimes. So she's the one who started Java Jolts?" The blue glow from the zapper cast a dim light on the tailgate. She moved back to her lawn chair and lay down again. "Yeah, she was," he said finishing his potato salad. "She used the settlement from the city to set it up. The lease on the shop was still good for another two years, so she closed down the store my parents had and remodeled the place into a coffee shop." "So what was it before?" she asked. "My parents had a Christian book store there. They didn't always get along with aunt Dina before they died." "Why was that?" she asked hearing the speaker on the truck start crackling as the sound system was turned on and checked. "My aunt Dina liked other women," he said, "My parents were really fundamentalist. Brother Paul was the head of the church they used to go to." "I'm surprised that they wanted you to be taken care of by her after they died if that was how they felt," she said. "They wouldn't have. They wanted my grandparents to take me, but they died a couple of months before and my parents hadn't changed their will yet. The church tried to block her getting custody of me, but the court wouldn't give it to them since she was my closest living relative." "So what happened to her?" she asked trying to not push him too much. The light from the projector behind her began playing a test pattern on the big screen for a few minutes. Nothing much, just going over what rules the drive-in had for their patrons. Jenny noticed there was not any prohibition against grilling. "Colon cancer. Almost four years ago. She fought it for almost two years. She died about a year and a half ago." "So you've been running the place for the last three years or so then," she said. "Yeah," he said, "I took over when she couldn't handle the workload any more so she could concentrate on getting better. She had me doing every job in the shop growing up. I'd work there on weekends and in the summer most of the time so I already knew it inside and out." "That explains all the cancer stuff you have by the register," Jenny said. "I thought it had to be personal in some way seeing that." "Yeah, it is," he said. "I've been really active with a couple of groups after she died." Jenny looked up at the screen. It was finally dark enough and projector had finished with the test pattern. The coming attractions started flickering on the screen as the speaker crackled to life behind them. "The sound is better that I expected it to be," he remarked to her. "So what was she like," Jenny asked moving the bug zapper over to one side on the tailgate. Now that it was dark the blue glow was brighter, but not too much to bother others around them. It had already sparked a few times as it fried a flying pest that couldn't stay away. "She liked to play the flute," he said. "She learned in high school and just kept doing it her whole life. She had a lot of different ones, but she liked this one wooden one she had the most." "Is that the one on the wall just behind the register?" Jenny asked him. "Yeah it is," Derek said. He'd put it up there just after she had died to remind him of her even though the loss was still raw at the time. "What else?" Jenny asked looking at the coming attractions that were still running. Most of them were films that had already had shooting complete when the Shift occurred. She figured that after Hollywood ran out of what was already in the pipeline there would be a pretty big gap before any new ones were available. "She had a soft spot for animals and people who needed help. And she had no use for people who couldn't respect others, even if they disagreed with them." "I can see how that would have made things difficult with your parents," Jenny said to him glancing over at him. "She was a pretty strong woman, so I remember them getting bent out of shape quite a few times after they got into it with her," he admitted. "She would have loved you, if she was still here you'd probably be talking to her right now," he said in an offhand way. He just knew aunt Dina would have admired the effort that Jenny had made to adjust. He knew and for a moment he felt a stab of regret that she was not here to know this woman who he was spending so much time with now. "Did she have a partner?" Jenny asked. "Not really," she had a lot of girlfriends, but between me, the shop and everything else she was involved in, she never did have anything that would be serious. A couple of them came close though," Derek said. "She can't have liked Brother Paul very much," Jenny said. The coming attractions were over and the first film was starting to play. "She didn't, but I had a lot of friends in the church still and she didn't want to stand in my way and run my life. She said I should make my own decisions about who I was going to be friends with as long as they were good ones. The only time she really changed that was if they were a bad influence on me," he said sheepishly. "And what was a bad influence in her opinion?" she asked him cracking open a soda and taking a drink. "I used to know this kid named Jackie Lee," he said. "He dared me into shoplifting some small stuff when we were hanging out when I was twelve. We got caught and ended up in the store security office. I didn't see him much after that. She wouldn't let me." "So do you still keep in touch with many of your friends from back then?" she asked. "I really don't see you with that many people." Jenny really didn't. Derek was at the shop almost constantly, or at least he seemed to be there whenever she was anyway. "I keep in touch with some of them. I play softball with a couple others when the pick-up league we play in is open. I used to spend a lot of time with a few others, even went to the summer camp the church ran with them a few times," he said looking up at the film playing over the enormous white screen. "I'm surprised she did that considering her history with them over you," Jenny replied. "She wasn't happy about it, but she told me to go have a good time and make sure I didn't swallow any shit while I was there," he said "Sounds like something my grandma would say," Jenny said. "So you've been talking to Brother Paul a long time then." "Not really actually," Derek said. "He started coming back around on Sunday after services over the last several weeks. He's been trying to get me to come back to the church," Derek shifted his shoulders and got a little more comfortable in the chair. "And do you want to? I'm not really religious, but it sounds like you still have a lot of things connecting you to them," she asked. "I really don't," he said. "I made that decision a while ago and I don't see anything since from them to make me see a reason to change it," He looked a little disgusted when he said that. "They are really some of the most two faced people I have ever known. Sure they're all sweetness and encouragement as long as they are trying get you to join them and as long as you are doing what they tell you to do. But you step out of line and they turn on you like you wouldn't believe," he said remembering all the times that behavior had passed in front of his sight. "They make such a fuss over how much better they are than other people, especially when they're on display at church. But the minute they step out of those doors they go back to whatever nasty evil things they do every other day. They lie, cheat and hate like no one else I have ever known and I really want nothing to do with them. For people who claim to love that bible of theirs they should try reading it instead of using it as a club to make other people live the way they think they should live," Jenny could hear the disgust in his voice pretty clearly now. "I really wish Brother Paul would just stop coming around, but when he does I just try to be polite. I think he's starting to get the message though. Just because I don't like what kind of person he is, doesn't mean I have to be an asshole about it," he said watching the film flickering on the big screen. They settled in to watch and kept talking about other things while the film rolled. It was a double feature so they stayed there the rest of the night doing that. The first one was one of the early summer blockbusters, but they both found it about average. The second film was much better and they both made appreciative comments on it back and forth while it was playing, When it finished Derek gathered up the debris from the back of the truck and jumped down to drop the bag into the trash barrel while Jenny broke down the chairs and stowed them for the trip back. She dropped him off in the parking lot at Java Jolts on the way home. It hadn't closed yet, so Derek said he was just going to go in and check on things and probably stay until it did before he went home. "Thanks for asking me to come Jenny," he said. "I didn't know what it was going to be like, but I did like it more than I thought I would. It was kind of nice to be able to talk through the film like that. I wouldn't have been able to do that in a theater and it was pretty comfy sitting like that too." "Yeah," she said, "Lawn chairs with cushions and a cooler at your disposal beat the hell out of theater seats every time. I'll see you later," she waved goodbye and drove off while he walked across the parking lot to go into Java Jolts. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Year 1 A.S. Day 96 Jenny had a pretty busy schedule with Dr. Min the rest of the week. And between spending time with her and getting more involved with what Dr. Nakamura was doing with J.L., she ended up spending more time there at the institute than she had been doing before. It was just easier now that this was happening to stop at Bob's when she was done and spend the rest of her evening reading and drinking her tea outside of Java Jolts until she was ready to go home. Mindy was starting to talk to her a little more now that she had become one of the regulars and some of the others were acknowledging her presence more often, but it was Derek that usually spend a bit of each time she was there talking with her. After keeping this kind of schedule for a couple of weeks Jenny felt the need for a change in routine and she decided that this next weekend she wanted to stay at home for a while. She called up Belinda and asked her if she wanted to bring Kyle over to cook out with her. Belinda seemed really grateful for the offer and told her that she and Kyle would be over on Saturday. Derek had already said he would be there as well, so she started running over what she could do on Friday night while she was sitting in front of Java Jolts at what had become her regular table. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Year 1 A.S. Day 98 They were almost finished packing the car. It was going to be a bit crowded on the ride down, but Danny figured that they would manage it well enough. He still hadn't called Jenny to let her know that they would be coming down today. He kept meaning to just pick up the phone and give her a quick call, but every time he had the thought something else demanded his attention at the moment and he promised himself that he would do it at the next opportunity. Mattie was sleeping in the center of the back seat. His little body demanded more rest than he had needed before and he had gone right back to sleep while they were finishing up loading around him. Little Jake wouldn't be going this trip. He was going to stay back here with George this weekend. It wasn't that he didn't want to see his aunt Jenny, it was more that he wanted to stay with George more. Little Jake had a younger version of the relationship George and James had before when George was younger. That he could be there for him now was something Little Jake liked being able to do. Usually they started out much earlier, but with more people going down there with them everyone decided that it would be better to leave around sunup. Danny looked over to Sam before they got into the car. "I think I should tell you that last time Amelia and I were down there I think we met Jenny's husband." "What!?" she said. "Who? How do you know that?" The look Sam gave him was one of surprise that Jenny could even be thinking of taking such a step. "That young man at the coffee shop, the one you told me about. He came over while we were cooking out. Jenny invited him over." "That doesn't mean one is going to be the other," she said. "She's probably just being friendly to him," They closed the car doors and Danny started the engine. Usually when they drove together Sam would be the one behind the wheel. But with Mattie there, Danny was driving in case he woke up and wanted Sam. "You remember what you told me don't you?" Danny asked. "Yeah, but even though he has a little interest that doesn't mean anything," she said. "Well it does now," Danny said. "While we were there mom gave him the Amelia test," he glanced back at Amelia who was on the other side of Mattie and Sam. "The what?" she said turning her head to look at Amelia on the other side of the back seat. "It's a little something we cooked up," Danny said. Amelia leaned forward. "Let's just say that I put one my skimpiest bikinis and did my absolute damnedest to give him a raging hard on without actually touching him." Sam's quick intake of breath and turning her face away told them both that the answer had embarrassed her even thinking about it. "So how did he do?" she asked when she got over her discomfort a little. "Oh I'm pretty sure I gave him one," Amelia said, "And he did his absolute best to completely ignore me, in that regard anyway. And every time Jenny came out from the trailer or was doing something within eyeshot she had his attention, not me." "I should be kind of insulted," she said. "But he passed with flying colors. It was pretty clear to me Jenny is the only one he's interested in and if he's ignoring what I was doing to him, it's pretty safe to say that he's ignoring everyone one else that way too." "And how about Jenny?" she asked, she knew that Jenny had been doing much better the last few weeks. She could hear it in her voice when she talked with her. "Oh, she's just being his buddy," Danny said. "But she's already opening herself up to him in some ways as a confidant and she didn't relax until he got there. She may deny it to herself or just not see it, but she just took a big step on the road to being with him lately." "Still doesn't mean anything," Sam said seeing Mattie start to stir a bit and then go back to sleep. Danny and Amelia both looked at him, laughed and said "August 18, 1977 together." Sam looked back at Danny. "Just because that happened with us doesn't mean it will with her." Danny looked back at Sam. "And it doesn't mean that it won't either," she said over her shoulder as she concentrated on driving. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Year 1 A.S. Day 98 They were just entering the city limits when Danny swore and started to pull the car over to the shoulder. "What is it?" Sam said "I don't think there's anything wrong." "Nothing's wrong with the car Sam," Danny said. "I kept meaning to call Jenny before now and I kept forgetting to just do it. Now we're about twenty minutes out and she still doesn't know we're coming yet." "I'd say that's worth a damn it," Sam said. "You want me to call her and you get back on the road?" Danny said she should do that and started to pull the car back into traffic while Sam dialed her. Jenny was just starting to lay the charcoal when her phone rang. She and Belinda had been talking while Derek played with Kyle to keep him busy. She excused herself and picked it up. When Jenny finished talking she put it down. "Well that was unexpected," she said to Belinda. "What was?" she responded. "That was my dad, she'll be here in about twenty minutes with some of the other family and I already know I don't have enough food on hand." "Well we haven't started cooking anything yet, so how much of a problem could it be?" Belinda asked her. Jenny shrugged and started adding more charcoal to the grill. She had just gotten it about ready to light when their car pulled into her lot. They had to park along the street since Belinda and Derek's cars were already squeezed into what free space she had. She put down the cover for now and went to hug them all hello, particularly Mattie even though it was a little more difficult for her to go down that far now. She introduced Mattie and Sam to Derek, Belinda and Kyle. Kyle seeing what looked like a little boy immediately came over to Mattie and wanted to be friendly. They had a bit of a minor struggle getting him to leave Mattie alone for a little while, but Derek managed to distract him. Mattie disappeared into the trailer for now and Sam followed after him. Jenny told mom that she needed to make a quick run to the store to pick up some more things for the grill now that they were here. Mom kept apologizing for not calling, but Jenny kept telling her not to let it bother him. She asked mom if he could have dad start up the coals in about twenty minutes or so. She wanted them to be close to ready when she got back. She called over to Derek and asked him if he wanted to ride along to help her haul everything back. He said he would and he found something for Kyle to do while he was gone. Jenny climbed into the truck and immediately had a problem. On the other side of the cab Derek saw her struggling. "Are you going to fit?" he asked. The problem was that she wasn't going to, somehow over the time that she had gotten home and now, she had expanded just enough that her foot had trouble reaching the pedal completely. "I can't reach it solidly enough," she said. "It shouldn't be this soon either. Even with the twins, I'm still just barely twenty weeks." "How were you able to drive when you were wearing that empathy belly then," Derek asked. "I'd take it off to drive," she answered. "But I thought that I would at least have until that size before I couldn't drive anymore." "Dad," she called leaning out from the truck, " I got a problem." "You don't look like you're too big to drive just yet," Derek said. "It's not that I'm too big," she said back to him, "it's my damned short legs." Jenny looked down at her feet. "Maybe if I get a pair of platform heels to drive with I can stretch this out and put this off a little longer." Dad came over and heard what she said. She looked at Jenny. Her face clearly showed what she thought of that idea. "You are not doing that," she said firmly. "Do you think you can drive your mother's car? We can just take the truck up and use that to get home. It'll be tight, but we can do it. I've got my car up there to use once we get back home," she said. Jenny looked over at the sedan. "Let's find out," she said and started walking to the car. Sam watched her get behind the wheel and start adjusting the seat. It didn't take long before they both could tell that this wasn't going to work either. "Damn it, I think it's worse here than in the truck," she said popping both of her hands down on the steering wheel in frustration. "Honey you know I don't think another car that I pick up at the auction is going to be that much better and you are not going with that heels idea," she said. "Great," Jenny said in disgust. "I guess I have to look at moving the trailer someplace closer to the medical park now. Maybe I can take the bus then or just walk if I'm close enough." "You sure you want to do that?" Sam said. "I'm not sure walking is an option for you that much longer either." "Maybe I can talk to Dr. Min and Dr. Nakamura on Monday," she said. "They might be able to swing upping my per diem enough to cover getting a cab back and forth." "You know you really don't have to do any of that," Derek said. Jenny and Sam looked over at him. "Jenny, you know I come by here every day on my way to work. It's not really out of my way. I can pick you up in the morning and if you don't mind waiting at the shop till I close up, I can bring you back in the evening." Sam looked at Jenny. "Take him up on it girl, it's the best offer you're going to get." Sam looked over at Derek. "You sure it's no trouble?" "It's really no trouble Sam," he said. "Ok," Jenny said starting to extricate herself out from behind the sedan's wheel. "If you're sure then you're the driver," she handed Derek the truck keys. "So your first job is to drive me to the store to get the stuff we need." Derek flipped her a jaunty salute. "Yassuh miz Daisy," he said. Jenny flipped him a sideways bird. "Asshole," she said.

Batwoman meets Catwoman Part Two

Holly crept up behind Kate with instinctive ease, then like some guard dog she bit on Kate's cunt then chewed playfully on her flesh through her latex while her hands shot forward, and grabbed Kate's tits. She let out a deep, long moan that resonated through the latex into Kate's cunt as latex covered flesh muffled it. She couldn't resist Kate's succulent position one moment, and she wanted some of that sweet pussy so badly! "Ahhhhhhhhhhh...., uuuhhhhh....,...

Wish Shift Prologue

Wish Shift Prologue Year 1 A.S. Day 16 The office had very little decoration. A couple of framed prints on the walls of mountains that could be from anywhere in the western U.S. but existed only in the printmaker's imagination. There were no family pictures on the desk's surface so the young Chinese woman who was presently sitting in one of the two chairs facing the desk knew that this was no one's actual office. It was just an interrogation room. Small, windowless and furnished...

Wish Shift Home Sweet Home

Wish Shift: Chapter Four Home, Sweet Home Year 1 A.S. Day 41 Jenny shifted a little on the new fabric. She was still not used to the truck's new seats. It had taken some effort to find a body shop that was open, but it wasn't impossible. One of the guys that dad used to work with at her shop had started his own place after he left and they threw each other work from time to time. The smell of the new upholstery flavored the interior of the cab now, giving it a whiff of new car...

Moonlight

I pull my body close to yours and bury my face into your silver moonlight kissed hair. I inhale the scent of your skin; its spicy scent lingers in my nose and all I smell is you. I kiss your neck and shoulders tasting the sweet saltiness of you skin on my lips. I slowly pull the sheets down your body and your beautiful full breasts are exposed. Your nipples stand up from the chill of the night air and I lightly rub them with my fingertips. Your head rolls to the side and a sigh escapes your...

Revenge Under The Moonlight

Lily was fed up.It had been weeks and weeks of Sasha turning her down with remarks of  “I’m busy, baby” and “Not right now, okay?”She knew Sasha was busy; the woman was a well-renowned lawyer, after all. The work was something Lily had taken into consideration when she first started dating Sasha. She hadn’t thought it would be so much of an issue, and at first, it wasn't. Recently though, Sasha was getting busier and busier, and it seemed like she had no time at all to spend with Lily.At first,...

Fort Moonlight

"Man it's too bad there aren't many young people in this country. So far all I ever seen of America are oil and gas pipelines, fat people, obese people, old people, and more deserts popping up. This country is losing all its green man," cried Jose. "Well fracking is what gets us our oil. Without oil and shale gas, how the fuck do you think I am going to be able to drive this fucking car!!" exclaimed Ryan. "Yeah but a lot of our drinking water is now contaminated with methane gas. Did...

Wish Shift The Wind in Her Hair

Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty The Wind in Her Hair Year 1 A.S. Day 112 Jenny was sitting outside at her usual table when she finished up at the institute. It was getting pretty hot, but there had been a nice wind blowing today so she just decided to walk to Java Jolts instead of calling Derek to let him know that she had finished a little earlier than she expected to. She had seen when Mindy had ducked back into the office to let Derek know when she sat down out front and he was out...

Part Four: Her Autumn Tears Like Rain Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Five The Stromium Connection Year 1 A.S. Day 191 Danny and Sam took the drugs that Danny had taken from Amy's bathroom with them to the police as soon as they left the advocate's office. After telling Kira and Dianne what they saw, Danny didn't have much argument from her. She had noticed it a couple of times as well and just thought it was odd that...

Moonlight

Country living is dark at night, dark and quiet. The only light comes from the moon, the stars and the two mercury vapor field lights. The only noise from crickets, cicadas and an occasional dog bark. I half sensed, half heard Mary coming home; her arrival disturbed my deep sleep. The clock on the bedside table told me it was one-twelve, late, but not as late as she has been other Thursdays. Mary made as little noise as possible, but still I sensed her car pulling in the driveway. I sensed her...

Family Fun By Moonlight

Kelly is four years younger than me, which of course means nothing in adult life, but it probably made a big difference to the way we saw the world when we were kids. Of course, real life doesn’t always work out like our childhood fantasies. When Kelly was nineteen years old and barely out of high school, she met a guy called Brock. He worked in construction and he came from Perth, but he was working in Sydney on a new high-rise apartment complex, and coming up on the weekends to party with...

Love in the moonlight

Jenny rolled the cup around her fingers, sniffing the wine. It was strong in her nose, very strong. “Possibly...” she murmured “1933 vintage?” “Got it in one” the man sitting to her right said, sipping his drink. Jenny looked at him, grinning. Jenny's face was quite striking, to a human, and her eyes were a flashing green. Her ears swept back from her head, furred and wolf like. She sat at the bar, her evening dress interrupted by a furry tail swishing back and forth under the stool. The man...

Wish Shift Reactions

Wish Shift: Chapter Seven Reactions Year 1 A.S. Day 45 Kira saw Jenny's big black truck pull up outside the restaurant. Bob's Country Kitchen was a small local chain that specialized in quick lunches, but served breakfast and dinner as well. The menu was a regular rotation of specials with a standard menu that didn't vary much. Between the prices and the general quality it had been a successful enterprise for the family that owned it. They had decided that they would meet there...

Wish Shift Dreamscapes

Wish shift: Dreamscapes 1 A.S. Day? The first thing I noticed was the reek all of the flowers. The smell of them made the air noxious with their scent. It surrounded me and seemed like it was impregnating even my clothes. It was in my hair and lingered like a thick blanket in my nose and mouth. It was sweet and warm. I could feel soft satin covering me entirely except for my hands. My fingers are bare. I wondered where it came from. I didn't own anything in satin. But it's here now,...

In the Moonlight

This is a story I wrote years ago, no idea why I never posted it…. But I guess no better time than the present. Enjoy! Jerome swirled the champagne in his glass in a relaxed twirl of his hands…. watching the woman across the room toss back her sheen of black hair as she laughed at something her companion said. He could tell it wasn’t anything truly amusing, he had always been able to read her that way. Besides, her companion didn’t look like the sort who could really make her laugh....

Revenge in Moonlight

This is my first story. I hope you enjoy it. It is set in a past era.-----------------------------------------------In a moonlit forest Elizabeth was running for her life. The life she knew, the life she cared about, the life that she adored. Sobs mingled with the exhaustive intakes of air, tears streaming down her face. She clung on desperately to an oak old tree and screamed in anger and forlorn despair. The screams echoed in the shadowy wooden wall around her until silence, only her gasping...

Callie by the Moonlight

The light of the full moon shined down on the beach, lighting up the white sand, giving it a light blue tinge. Callie walked ahead, the beach towel wrapped around her waist, leaving delicate footprints in the soft sand as she went along her way. She knew I was behind her. She knew I just liked to watch her walk. It was one of the many ways that she loved me. We did not have to hold hands to be in love. This was one our traditions when we came to the beach at night. Callie walked ahead, her...

Melanie squealed with excitement and danced around happily. When the day came for their special weekend away, Fiona drove them along the narrow winding country roads, the top was down, the sun was shining, the...

A Good Night in the Moonlight

Once upon a time we were thick as thieves and always spent time getting in and out of trouble together. Then we started to grow up and things changed. One day Cassie asked if I wanted to start officially dating. I turned her down because as a kid I was too chicken shit scared how people would judge me and I was afraid it would ruin what we already had. It was a decision that I would always regret. It became awkward between us for a time and while it did get better after she moved on, things...

Rapture by Moonlight

RAPTURE BY MOONLIGHT by Expedience I had taken her from her room while she was asleep. It's not as hard as it sounds. I got my mind into her body, forced it to sleep deeply, and then took her out the window quietly as her parents slept. She woke up in her pajamas when I peeled off her socks and kicked off my shoes, to...

Loving on the Moonlight

All senses jumped to alert, and she wondered what it could be? Was it a hapless animal just making noise? Was it a pervert spying on an unsuspecting woman? Or was it something more dangerous that belonged to the night? She grabbed up a log, the longest one she could find and held it at the ready for chucking. “Who’s there?” she demanded evenly and tried to ignore the fact of how undressed she actually was at this point, oh how humiliating; if this was Fiorye back and spying, she’d...
