Wish Shift: Chapter Three Armistice Year 1 A.S. Day 38 Jenny didn't know how long she was leaning against mom crying. Mom just let her lean against him until her tears stopped. "It was your grandmother who pointed it out to me," he said after Jenny's tears ceased and she calmed down again. "She said to me a couple of days ago that you were acting just like a couple friends of hers had after their husbands died. She said that they tried to freeze as much of their life as possible just as it was. After she said that, I watched what you were doing closer and I realized that she was right. The way you dressed and the way you don't wear your glasses unless you have to. I looked through all of the pictures that you sent of the two of you and everything I saw you doing here was recreating her every time you stepped out the door. I also remembered that you told me she hated wearing her glasses and would only wear them if she had to so you didn't do it either." "But she's not dead mom," Jenny said looking down at their hands on her belly. "She's right here." "Yes she is," mom agreed. "But she's as gone at the same time just as if she did die." Jenny's red rimmed eyes began to water again. "It's hard for you to accept, but even if Sonya somehow perfectly remembers everything in her life up until the Shift, it still won't change anything. You can't be anything to her, but her mother now." Mom interlocked his fingers with Jenny's on the slight swelling. "In a little over six or seven months you're going to be in a hospital. You are going to spend hours enduring absolute agony to bring Sonya back into this world. You won't be the same ever again. And you won't want to be. Even though you're ignoring it now, you're already changing. Did you think that you would be able to just bring her back? That you could bring yourself back? Neither of you can go back to what you were after this. How can that even work if you could?" "I don't know mom, I haven't been able to think that far ahead," she said faintly. "You keep calling this child a girl. But you don't know that she won't be a boy do you?" Mom said quietly. "No, I never even considered that," Jenny said. "You need to, Jenny," Mom said. "And whether you have a daughter or a son you need to be ready for what that will mean for you. Once your baby comes, what that child may or may not remember is just a complication. Yes, if she or he remembers, it will shadow Sonya's life, but neither of you are ever going back to what you were." "You're going to be her mother now, not her boyfriend or her husband. No matter what comes for you both afterward, that is something that won't change. And don't ignore the possibility that this will not be the only time you tell us there is a baby on the way. You may not think so now, but you may very well find yourself facing being pregnant again in the future after you get your footing." Jenny shuddered and leaned against his chest a little closer. She hated hearing the words he was saying to her because they were true. "Everyone in the whole world is dealing with something that has never happened before. None of us knows exactly what we're doing, but right now I know that you need to mourn for her and for yourself and somehow you can figure out how to start to look forward." "How can I do that? How can any of us?" she asked him. "The only way any of us ever could do anything even before the Shift; one step at a time," he answered slowly. "Is this what you do?" she asked. "Every morning I have to look in that mirror," he said. "And I tell myself the same thing I just said to you." "Even the mother part?" she asked. "Especially the mother part. That didn't change even if this...did," he said gesturing at his body. "And at least I have your father. She's not happy with it and she is struggling with it too, but at least we're not apart." "I don't know what I can do, I don't know if I'm ready to do this and I don't want to not do it," Jenny said. "And every woman who ever looked at having her first child just said what you did in their own way, so you're really not alone in that. But as for the rest of it I have an idea if you want to listen." Jenny looked up at him. She didn't say anything but her face told her mom that she was listening to what he had to say. "Don't go backwards," he said. "How so?" she asked puzzled a little by what mom was trying to say. "You have been dressing as a lovely woman for days now. Until your grandmother mentioned it, I was thinking that it was just you doing what you had to do to accept what has happened." Jenny nodded listening closely. "You shouldn't back away from that, and no, I don't mean that you would try to do like Jake is trying to do," he said. Jenny shook her head in violent agreement with that part. "You're a woman now, you have to figure out what that means for you. Keep dressing nice like you have been if you want to do that, but don't let it limit you. You have so many faces that you will need to wear that you shouldn't get the idea that you need to lock yourself onto a narrow path and only that path is what being a woman should be. Your sister had her whole life to determine what kind of woman she was going to be for the most part and to learn what she needed to do it. You take your time as well." Jenny forced herself to really listen to what mom was telling her now. "Do it on your terms. If you want to just be relaxed most of the time, do it. If you want to always wear dresses, look sexy and be ready to step out, then do it. You want to wear jeans and a t-shirt, fine. But figure it out for yourself. Things are going to change a lot in the next few years, but once they all settle down you're going to deal with the same three things every woman and every man for that matter has to deal with when it comes to what you are." "What three things do you mean?" Jenny asked a little puzzled about where this might be going. "They all come down to what is expected of you as a woman. However much society changes because of this, there is still going to be some standard eventually that you will be held to. We don't know now just what it's going to settle out as, but when whatever comes to be arrives, it's going to be what we live with. More importantly, at least for yourself, you always have the measure of what you expect to hold yourself to. And when you are eventually with someone, whenever or whoever that is, you'll have that person's expectations shaping you. Be the woman you are, but make sure you shape her first, before someone else does and once you do, don't look back." "Did you tell this to Kim?" she asked him. "I told this to Kim when she started puberty," he said. "I had to remind him of it a few weeks ago after I got myself somewhat under control." "Is it doing him any good?" Jenny asked thankful for not being the sole focus of the conversation just for a moment. "I don't know," he said. "Kim has Jake in the mix and I have no idea how that is going to work out. I wish I had better feelings about it, but I think it's going to be a mess for all of us." "Thanks mom," Jenny said. "I may not leave in the morning after all. There is something I think I need to do." Jenny's mom stood up and handed her some tissue. "You get cleaned up and come out when you're ready. He leaned over her and kissed her on the forehead before opening the door and leaving her to herself. ------------------------------------------------------ Year 1 A.S. Day 39 Jenny woke up the next morning a little after 4 a.m. That was about normal, the first week or so when she flew home she ended up automatically waking up long before anyone else stirred from the bed. It would taper off in the next few days as her internal clock synced once more with this time zone. Talking with mom last night had been emotionally exhausting and she had no trouble falling asleep. How much of that was from mom shaking the mental burden she was carrying she wasn't sure. She opened her smaller travel bag and started looking for what she needed. She found it about halfway down jammed into a ball in one corner. It was a loose pair of pants with a similarly loose jacket. The jacket had woven knots to keep it closed when you wore it and both were a light yellow color. She put them on with a pair of rope soled slippers and went outside in the yard. After she queued up the music she was looking for on her smart phone she turned down the volume enough that she was pretty sure that she wouldn't wake anyone up. Other than the noises from insects and other early morning dwellers still moving around at this hour she was alone. The music started a minute or so later and she started moving into the forms that she had memorized when Sonya had interested her in taking this up. She concentrated on her breathing and shifted her body in specific rhythmic patterns. Move into position, pause, shift direction, breathe, repeat. Foot movements flowing up her body into extending arm motions in slow precise ways. For an hour or more she lost herself in the familiarity and concentrated on what she had to do to reach her goal. When the music stopped she realized that she had also gotten covered in a light sheen of sweat from her exertions. The sun was just starting to rise and dawn's light made the outside trailer light she had turned on for this no longer necessary. She decided that she would use the larger shower in the house to clean up instead of the cramped little shower alcove that they had built into the travel trailer. She grabbed a towel and headed in. The door to the kitchen was unlocked and when she went into the room dad was there nursing a cup of coffee and looking out the window into the back yard. "That was beautiful," she said, taking a sip of her coffee. "I've never seen you do that when you visited before. What was it?" Jenny wasn't surprised that she was up, no matter which form dad wore she seemed to enforce being an early riser on it. The coffee smell filled the room and this morning it was not what she needed. She dropped the towel and rushed to the bathroom. There wasn't much to empty out, but somehow her stomach made up for it and found something somewhere, much to her regret. When she cleaned up she headed back to the kitchen. Dad had opened the windows and had a fan blowing the coffee smell out. "Sorry," she said. "I forgot that was your kryptonite." "Not every time, but often enough," she replied. Dad put a glass of orange juice in front of her and she drank it with murmured thanks. "That was T'ai Chi," she said after she drained the glass. "So it's like karate then?" dad asked. "Similar, but not exactly the same. It's related to martial arts, but it's more to focus the mind in harmony with the body. Sonya did it for years and she got me to join her in the mornings a couple of years ago. We would join a group almost every morning together." Her dad nodded and asked her if she felt up to having something to eat. Jenny said yes and said she wanted a quick shower first. Dad told her not to worry and to take her time. She picked up her towel and walked to the bathroom and locked the door behind her. She stripped off the baggy shirt and pants and shucked off her slippers. She looked at herself naked in the bathroom mirror. It was something that she had avoided for the most part since finding out that this was permanent. But after last night's talk with mom she decided that it was something she needed to do. She looked at herself slowly starting at the top of her head. She had long thick black hair. It hung midway past her shoulders. She looked at it and consciously thought of it as hers. She looked at her face, the heavy glasses she needed so everything was not just a collection of blurs with her dark beautiful eyes behind them and the soft skin on her face and lips. Her gaze traveled down her slender neck to her small firm breasts. She looked at the darker skin of her small areolas with her large nipples hardening slightly from the morning chill. Her slim fingers and small hands rose up her hips and rested on the slight swelling that marked her belly. In the mirror she watched her hands move down and brush the dark hair of her pubis and the space between her legs where her wider hips left a gap between her thighs. She looked at her slim smooth legs and continued downward moving her eyes from the mirror when she couldn't see any more until she was looking down at her small feet. She moved one hand back up and felt her fingers cup her outer labial lips. She wasn't doing anything sexual though. She just stood there feeling the sensation of her hand cupping her vaginal opening. She moved her hand away from there back down to her side and looked herself in the eyes. "Good morning, Jenny," she said to herself. She looked down the length of her body and rested both hands on her belly. "Good morning Sonya," she said to the baby. Then she turned and stepped into the shower. When she had dried herself off and wrapped her wet hair in the towel she slipped back into the baggy suit. It would be good enough to wear back to the trailer where she could get changed into something else. She went back into the kitchen. Mom and dad were both moving around making breakfast the way they did together most of the time. "You feel up to the day now?" Mom asked putting some eggs on a plate and passing it to her to put on the table. "Better anyway," she answered and took the next plate her dad handed to her. "Greg said he'd be here in a bit with Dianne," she said. Jenny ignored dad's slip and expected it wouldn't be the last time she fell into old speech patterns before she finally adjusted. "Can I kidnap you for a couple of hours mom?" she asked. "I have something I need to do before Kira and I get going if you can." "I don't see why not," mom answered piling toast onto a plate and bringing it to the table. "I don't have to meet George and your grandma until after one this afternoon. What are you needing to do?" Jenny held up her heavy glasses. "I think I need to get these taken care of and something else if we can get enough time for it." Mom nodded that he could and sat down. Jenny bit into the bacon and thanked whatever power it was that hadn't inflicted Kim's reaction to it on her. After she got some food into her, she quickly changed from her exercise clothes into a pair of jeans and a shirt with gashes cut into the sleeves to show her arms while covering her shoulders. Town wasn't far from them so it didn't take long to get there. "So what was it you wanted here?" Mom asked her when they walked into the superstore. Jenny looked over at mom and felt a moment's hesitation before she said to hell with it mentally. "I need your advice," she answered. "With what?" he asked as they walked through the aisle. "I want your advice on picking out some cosmetics," she said quickly. "All right," he said and started heading toward the cosmetics department. "How far do you want to go with this? Do you want everything or is there a limit?" he asked when they got there. "Lipstick for sure," she said, "and one other for now. Maybe some eye shadow. I don't want to get in over my head." "It doesn't work that way," mom said. "Using cosmetics builds on each part you are using. When you know what to do you can get away with less. but you have to remember it takes practice before you can get away with a minimalist touch. At the very least you need a foundation and some powder as well as whatever you get." Jenny bit her lip. "What do you suggest then?" "If you want it simple maybe you should just get some eyeliner for now." Jenny thought about it and agreed. Mom took her to the counter and he spoke with the man there. Jenny sat still in the chair while mom and the salesman began going over each aspect of what she needed and how it worked together. When they finished Jenny looked at herself in the small mirror and saw just how much change even the little bit they did made in how she looked. They spent a while longer choosing what to get and finally settled on two more shades of lipstick and a small assortment of eyeliners. After they paid for it Jenny led the way to the small salon by the entrance. "I need your help with this too," she said stopping in front of it. "I don't know anything about this and I thought you should be the one to keep me from completely screwing it up." "Are you sure you want to get it cut?" mom asked. "It'll be more time than you think it will be to grow it out this long again if you don't like it and next time you should do this first if you come for hair and cosmetics." "I know, Sonya always avoided getting anything major done with her hair. She spent years letting it grow, but she never did anything complicated with it," she said, "but I can't do what she did when she did get creative so it's either do it right my way or look like a squirrel lives on my head. I never had long hair before and cutting it all off is something I just don't want to do." Before mom could bring up last night she quickly added, "I want to do this for me, she has nothing to do with it. It's my hair now and I want to do it right." Mom accepted her word on it and they sat down and started leafing through the magazines and hair books. They passed examples back and forth. Mom vetoed several outright as being too labor intensive to maintain and in one case as 'a damned criminal thing to do to such a beautiful head of hair'. Eventually they settled on a style that would be easy to maintain until she knew better and would not be an affront to mom's feminine sensibilities. Jenny still lost over six inches in length when it was done and looking at the finished job she was pretty satisfied with it. On the way out the stylist started pointing to the rack of hair care products and listing what she should be using from now on. Jenny started to wave her off when mom again intervened and told her to reconsider. "Your love of just one shampoo/conditioner combo is over. You're going to need more than that if you want to do it right." Jenny backed off and let the stylist walk her though it. Mom vetoed a few things again, but when they walked out finally, Jenny had a much heavier bag to put in the car than she planned on. "Where to now?" Mom asked slipping behind the wheel and cranking the engine. Jenny took her glasses off and held them between them. "This," she said. Mom nodded and backed the car out. Once they got to the one hour place they didn't need to take as long. Jenny's prescription was current so she didn't need an exam. She and mom browsed through what they had available until Jenny settled on a much less noticeable set of frames than the heavy ones Sonya had favored. They decided to get something to eat while waiting for the glasses to be finished. They stopped at an all you can eat Mexican buffet not that far away. It was one of the few restaurants still open and from the number of cars in the parking lot it was seeing a lot of traffic. If the management had any thoughts about the amount of food that Jenny was capable of inhaling they learned that they were mistaken when she went back for her fifth plate. "God, I'm still hungry," she complained sitting down. Mom chuckled. "Girl you're just getting started," he said. "Trust me when I say that little figure of yours isn't making it out of this alive." Jenny shuddered and kept eating. After she finally finished they went back and picked up her new glasses. She had also left her other pair as well to have the lenses dyed for sunglasses, but they weren't ready yet. She told them that she would be back later that afternoon and went back with mom to go home. When they got into the car mom didn't start it right away. He looked at Jenny with her new hairstyle, new glasses and the minimal color the new shade of red lipstick gave her lips. "What is it?" Jenny asked after a couple of moments. "I'm just taking it all in," he said. "Taking what in?" she asked already feeling self-conscious. "Probably the first thing you've done for yourself as a woman." Jenny stopped herself from answering right away and realized that mom was right. She had done a lot of female things since the Switch, but this truly was the first thing she had done for herself. Her first steps in determining what woman she was going to be. "It is," she said simply. "I was listening to you after all." "I'm glad is all," he said. "I was worried that I pushed you too far last night." "You didn't," she said and then looked at her mother. "Just what was the first thing you did for yourself as a man?" "I changed my cologne. The one your father favored was nice and I did like it, but the one I have now is better in ways he never thought to ask me about." "And how did she take it?" Jenny asked as mom started up the engine and got ready to back out. "She noticed it, didn't see why I bothered at first, but it didn't take her too long to see why I changed it." Jenny turned her head slowly toward her mother. "You did not just say what I think you just did." "I didn't say anything really," he said and turned his attention back to driving. But just as they turned onto the road home he started whistling dads 'get lucky' song and Jenny struggled between turning a deep shade of red and laughing uncontrollably.

Wish Shift Dreamscapes

Wish shift: Dreamscapes 1 A.S. Day? The first thing I noticed was the reek all of the flowers. The smell of them made the air noxious with their scent. It surrounded me and seemed like it was impregnating even my clothes. It was in my hair and lingered like a thick blanket in my nose and mouth. It was sweet and warm. I could feel soft satin covering me entirely except for my hands. My fingers are bare. I wondered where it came from. I didn't own anything in satin. But it's here now,...

Wish Shift: Chapter Eighteen Two By Moonlight Year 1 A.S. Day 92 Jenny slowed the truck down and stopped. The little ticket booth at the gate had peeling white paint on its wooden walls and there were a few scattered weeds growing at the base of the small building. Jenny leaned out of the window slightly and handed over the twenty-five dollar admission to the sixty year old man who was bouncing up and down to whatever was on his I phone between cars. He took her money and she...

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Six You Can't Outrun A Shadow Year 1 A.S. Day 187 Day 232 of Jenny's Pregnancy Brother Paul disconnected the phone and turned his efforts back towards getting ready to depart. He was greatly satisfied with the work he had done already. The little mud woman had finally reached a stage that he could start encouraging her growing love of the Lord's righteousness and Derek would be coming back to them today, albeit only for services. With her now properly...

Wish Shift The Fire That Burns You

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Nine The Fire That Burns You Year 1 A.S. Day 209 Day 254 of Jenny's pregnancy Sleep was constantly avoiding coming to her. Between her now frequent trips to the bathroom, the movement of the twins and the pain from the various parts of her body, it was a wonder that she got any sleep at all. And that was before she even factored in the emotional toll of the last few days. The rage that had been released when the full scope of what had been done to...

Wish Shift Reunion

Part One The Winter of her Heart Wish Shift: Chapter One Reunions 1 A.S. Day 32 She was still trying to sleep. It wasn't her first international trip. The problem was, even with all of the shades down on the windows, you could still see the outline of daylight around them. This made it difficult for her to get relaxed even in ordinary circumstances. Her only consolation this trip was that, for once, the seat was roomy enough. But considering what made that extra room...

Wish Shift Examinations

Wish Shift: Chapter Five Examinations Year 1 A.S. Day 43 Dianne didn't arrive the next day, but she did show up the day after that. Sometime after four p.m., when Kira and Jenny were lighting the charcoal in the small portable grill, Kira's phone started ringing. While Jenny busied herself with using the hand cranked fan to get the coal bed well fired, Kira answered it and started laying out the directions to where they were. After they finished talking Kira told Jenny that...

Wish Shift Intake

Wish Shift: Chapter Fifteen Intake Year 1 A.S. Day 86 Brother Paul sat in the comfortable leather chair in his office. He had striven for the impression of a manager's office rather than something more exalted like the head of a corporation. He told the others that it was right and proper that, as leader's in the Lord's organization that they be reminded that they too were workers in the vineyard of the Lord and not masters of it. He did have some sparse decoration, but...

Wish Shift Spreading Her Broken Wings

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-One Spreading Her Broken Wings Year 1 A.S. Day 173 The sound of the washing machine rumbled through the kitchen. Jenny had just turned it on after loading it and walked into the dining room. She needed to sit down. The effort of loading the bedding had made her a little dizzy. She saw Derek at the table. He had his laptop open and was writing down some notes occasionally on a scrap piece of paper. He flipped between the open tabs and frowned before writing...

Wish Shift Seed

Wish Shift: Chapter Seventeen Seed Year 1 A.S. Day 91 Grandma sauntered out of the trailer wearing a red and white bikini. She had her auburn hair pulled back and she was wearing a pair of oversize sunglasses. She lay down on the folding lawn chair and started rubbing tanning lotion into her skin. Jenny giggled to herself and tried to imagine her as she was before wearing that bikini and just couldn't picture it. She turned back to cranking the blower on the coals to get them...

Wish Shift The Ashes Of Empire

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Eight The Ashes of Empire Year 1 A.S. Day 193 0920 Hours Amy opened the door. There were two men standing there, both of them were dressed in dark suits. She thought for a moment that they might have been someone sent from the church and asked the two men what they wanted. The shorter one, a stocky black man told her that they needed to speak with her and her husband immediately. When she nodded agreeably and opened the door for them the taller of the...

Wish Shift The Things That Bind You

Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty Seven The Things That Bind You Year 1 A.S. Day 157 Jenny looked up when Derek opened the front door. She was in the kitchen going over some of what she wanted to do with him during the next week. She put down the pad of paper that she had been writing ideas on down on the counter and walked into the living room to see why he was back so early today. She had been busy over the last few days. In fact she had only really left the house when she had to. As...

Wish Shift: Chapter Forty-Two The First Kiss of Dawn Year 1 A.S. Day 228 Day 273 of Jenny's Pregnancy 8:30 A.M. One hundred and sixty pounds. That was about how much her ruck had weighed after she had crammed gear, twenty-four MRE's, an anti-tank mine, a thousand rounds for her SAW and an M-72 anti-tank rocket into it when she climbed onto a UH-60 Blackhawk and they sent her against the Iraqi army. One hundred and fifty pounds was what she had used as her average set when...

Wish Shift Deflection

Wish Shift: Chapter Two Deflection Year 1 A.S. Day 32 No one laughed when Kira said that to her. Not that it wasn't just like something she would say and that it wasn't amusing in its own way. Jenny was mostly sure it was because none of them really knew what to say. Like her mom had said to her in the restroom, it was just something that he never expected to hear from her son, even if her son was now her daughter. She supposed that it also brought home to her sister Kira and...

Wish Shift And the Fruit it Bears

Wish Shift: And The Fruit It Bears 1 A.S. Day 146 Jenny looked at her face in the small mirror on the counter. She ran a quick check on what she saw reflected there. The lessons she had been getting from mom when he came down to visit and all the practice she had recently was starting to really pay off. The Great Shift Healing Hands

The Great Shift: Healing Hands By Johnny Girl ([email protected]) I stared down at my hands. My hands. I still had trouble believing they were really mine. They were long and slender and delicate and feminine, wearing rings and bracelets, the fingers tipped with sparkly purple fingernail polish. These weren't the hands I was familiar with. They weren't the rough and strong and calloused hands I'd been so dependent on; they were weak and soft and smooth and small and useless...

The Great Shift Summers End

The Great Shift - Summer's End By Limbo's Mistress "Dad, I'm home," a voice from the front of the house called right before I heard the slam of the front door. I looked up from the papers spread out on the kitchen counter to see my daughter, Carrie, walk into the room. She stopped at the table and slipped the backpack off her shoulders, hanging it on the back of one of the chairs. Then she walked over to the opposite side of the counter and leaned against it, grabbing an apple from...

Great Shift The Origin

* Warning, this story uses the events that happened on Sept. 11, 2001 as a loose model in trying to give a feel of the carnage that'd happens during a massive calamity. If you feel this depiction is too traumatizing in bringing up memories, or if you have PTSD issues, you may not want to read ths story.* The Great Shift (Origins) I like many have enjoyed many a story of the fun and mayhem of that fateful day that the world was turned on it's ear, and many a men had to learn...

The Great Shift The Empty Place Inside Part 1 of 2 revised

The Great Shift: The Empty Place Inside by BlueshifTG Part 1 The straps were loosened on the black 1" heel shoes tumbled under the desk. One stockinged foot was on the floor, the other unsteadily balanced on the plastic trash can; the position pulled the leather skirt tight above the green-nailed fingers that absent-mindedly rubbed a spot on the outside of the right knee. The woman was leaning back in her chair, head...

The Wish Shift Part One The Winter of Her Heart

The Wish Shift Prologue Year 1 A.S. Day 16 The office had very little decoration. A couple of framed prints on the walls of mountains that could be from anywhere in the western U.S. but existed only in the printmaker's imagination. There were no family pictures on the desk's surface so the young Chinese woman who was presently sitting in one of the two chairs facing the desk knew that this was no one's actual office. It was just an interrogation room. Small, windowless and...

The Great Shift Summers End Part 2

Once upon a time, I used to be the type of guy who firmly believed women could never get ready on time because they could never decide what to wear. I mean, what guy hasn't watched any number of sitcoms or romcoms where the husband/boyfriend continually looks at his watch, becoming more and more exasperated and impatient, while his darling dear tries on an entire wardrobe's worth of clothing? No matter how relaxed the dress code of the event they are attending, the woman has to make...

The Great Shift - Summer's End (Part 4) by Limbo's Mistress Tyrone began to stir about three minutes before the police arrived. I noticed it first, the twitch of the fingers of his left hand. Instantly, the memory of that massive hand being slammed against my face, and the harsh way they had groped and fondled me, rushed forward, drowning out everything else. As if I were reliving it all over again. Huddled beneath the blanket, I curled tighter in on myself, and a...

The Great Shift: Summer Vacation By Limbo's Mistress "We're here." I pulled the big SUV into the empty spot between the beach house's legs. The other two parking spaces were taken by a black Mercedes convertible and a bright yellow Prius. Apparently my parents and sister had beat us here. The Great Shift The Empty Place Inside part 2 of 2

The Great Shift: The Empty Place Inside by BlueshifTG Part 2 The young woman opened her eyes. What she saw was all white, slowly resolving into different shades of white, and two corners. That was the extent of it: three walls. Part of it was different, yellow, that's it, with some sort of pattern--a curtain. On the other side, a door. In the corner, high, a box. A mouth, a speaker, no, a camera; a...
