Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty-Nine The Chrysalis Left Behind You Year 1 A.S. Day 164 She woke up naked in their bed and stretched. His arm was around her still and she had to shift him a bit to finish stretching before slipping out from under the light blanket that was around her feet where she had kicked it in her sleep. Her pussy had a pleasant achy feeling of having been well used from the previous evening and she was just basking in how good it still felt to her right now. She slowly got out of the bed and walked into the bathroom and looked at herself for a moment in the mirror as she passed it. Her belly was now extending far out in front of her and her back was curved as well to offset how it was throwing off her balance. She was glad Derek wanted her here. She didn't want to be any other place and now that she was here she needed to be a good wife to him she thought. She didn't know why that thought kept bubbling up the way it did. It was like an insistent little rat dog constantly yapping at her. If it wasn't something that she wanted it would probably bother her how it just kept popping up in her mind the way it was doing. Maybe when the newness of being here with him faded it would fade as well she thought. When Derek woke up she had already finished cooking and while they ate breakfast she told him that since she would be living here from now on, she had better stay here today while he went to work and make some room for her things. He asked her if she wanted him to have her come along when he and Mindy went over to her place to pick everything up. She told him that unless he knew how to set up the tow then he better pick her up as soon as he and Mindy were ready to do it. While he was away she started looking through their bedroom to see how she could fit what she had in with what he had there. It wasn't going to be as much of a struggle as she thought it might be. This had been his parents' bedroom before it was his and he was only using less than half of the closet space he had. There might me more of an issue with finding drawer space, but she decided to put that off until later on. She wanted him to be with her while she did that. She put what she had away and stood in the closet for a few minutes looking at what little she had hanging there beside his clothes. It seemed like a stupid thing to feel good over, but it brought a smile to her face doing it. She made some space in the bathroom for what she had as well. Most of his stuff there she just moved over to one side and as she did that she made a note to herself to get in here and give this place a good scrubbing before she added too much to the load already on the counter. It didn't take long to get what she had already here sorted out and she spent a little time trying to estimate how much more space she would need when they emptied out the trailer. It wasn't easy to do that. Most of what she had there was usually kept put away in one of the many storage bins that she, dad and Kira had built into the place when they remodeled it and it was deceptively roomy that way. She glanced down at her belly. At least in normal times it was roomy she amended in her thoughts. Sometime in mid-afternoon she thought she heard a vehicle pull up in the carport. When she went out the side door she saw Derek just getting out to come and get her. She asked him why he hadn't given her a head's up and he said that he wanted to make sure that Jamaal and Teddy could both come in while he and Mindy took care of this. Jenny picked up her purse from the table by the door and closed the door behind her. Mindy was already in the back seat when Jenny slid into the passenger side of the jeep. They drove to the park and stopped at the front office on their way back to her lot. The manager didn't give her any grief about leaving. Her lease was pretty much month to month and the only fallout seems to have been that he wouldn't refund the rest of the time she wouldn't be using by leaving early. It was only a few days so Jenny wouldn't lose any sleep over it though. When they pulled into the lot and parked, the first thing that Mindy did was reach forward through the seats and pop Derek in the back of the head. Derek turned around rubbing the spot and asked her what the hell that was for. Mindy just pointed at her little trailer and then at Jenny. He told Derek he should have asked her to move in with him long before now. Then he turned to Jenny and apologized to her for her husband being a blind asshole. Mindy had been doing that ever since they had gotten together. It matched her attitude from before. When they were just spending time together Mindy had only referred to Jenny as Derek's girlfriend as a semi-private joke, except for when Jenny might hear in the beginning. Now that they were together he only referred to them as being married already. It was his not-so-subtle hint of what he thought they should do and he refused to apologize for it or stop doing it. The truth was that Jenny liked being referred to as Derek's wife. She had constantly had the thought in her mind while he was gone and since he had come back it was even stronger. She had to restrain herself last night while they were making love to keep herself from referring to herself that way to him in the middle of her sexual haze. She was pretty sure that he would be fine with it, but she knew she shouldn't really do that right now. She walked them both through what they needed to do to set up the trailer for a tow. Derek was going to drive the truck and Mindy was going to follow in the jeep and tow the pop-up camper. As she watched the two men stow the last pieces of her little slice of single life away she looked back into the now empty lot. It seemed small and forlorn with all that she owned sitting on the road waiting to leave. It felt longer than the couple of months that she had lived here to her. This was a special place for her she realized. This was where she had finally emerged from her chrysalis as the woman she was today. But now it was time to leave it behind her. Derek helped her up into the passenger side of the truck and they slowly pulled away. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Derek had not really towed anything of this size before. He had borrowed a jet ski from a friend of his and towed that, so he was not entirely unfamiliar with how to do it, but he was more careful than she would have been if she were driving. Jenny looked down on her belly, both of her hands were absently resting there while they slowly drove home. She would have preferred to do this tow, but with how large she was now there would have been no chance of it happening, even if she didn't have really short legs. She gave Derek suggestions when he looked like he needed them, just as she had while they were fishing. He listened to what she said to him and adjusted the tow as needed. She could tell from the set of his forehead that he was tense about doing this, especially with her sitting next to him. When they finally got to their house she walked him through the annoying ballet of backing the trailer up and maneuvering it into place. They had decided to put it just behind the house rather than next to the garage the way that Derek had originally meant to do. For one thing it was easier to do that and setting it up behind the house made it easier to get into since the doors would be facing away from the wall rather than toward it. Derek mostly used the carport next to the kitchen door for the jeep anyway so the truck would go into the garage. He had suggested locking it away since there was no way that she would be driving it for the next few months. If they needed it then it would be safe there and they probably wouldn't be using it too much since his jeep was better on gas than her truck would ever be. They put the pop up off to the side of the driveway just in front of the garage. Kira or mom could come down and pick it up the next time one of them visited so it wouldn't be there for long. Mindy helped Jenny start moving her things out of the trailer and into the house while Derek locked everything up. It took him a little time to find what he was looking for in the garage. He really hadn't been here that much. He mostly just stored tools and other things out here. His dad had built it to use as a workshop shortly before he had died. Aunt Dina had used it as an open air studio when friends stopped by and felt like making music with her. As he backed the truck into the building he had the thought that this was probably the first time this place had actually been used to store a vehicle since his dad built it. He closed up the truck and started rooting around in the storeroom for what he would need to secure the two trailers. He found a couple of heavy chains somewhere in the back. While Mindy and Jenny emptied out her trailer he ran one of the chains through the wheels and secured them to a pair of cinderblocks. It wouldn't stop a thief for long, but it would keep them from just hooking it up and taking it. He would have to ask Jenny what she suggested for something longer term. When he did the same to the pop up he went in the house. Jenny was in their bedroom with Mindy. From the noise drifting down the hall they were busy putting her things away. He could hear Mindy making appreciative comments about some of the things that she had from here. In some ways Mindy was still the woman he had been when it came to looking good. He looked around the room and saw her purse sitting on the small table by the front door. She had been regular about putting things in the same place he noticed. Whether that was a habit from when she was James or just something she did when she was living overseas he didn't know. He opened it, rooted around for a minute and found her keys. The spare keys to the garage and the locks he had used on the trailer were in a box in his junk drawer. He found the ones he needed and slipped them on her keychain along with a set of house keys. He had just finished putting them back when he heard her call for him. He went back to see what it was she needed him for and forgot to tell her about which keys they were. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Year 1 A.S. Day 168 Derek finished the order he was working on and passed it over to Teddy to hand out before turning to the next one. He looked over at Jenny's empty table out front. It had gotten nice and cool the last week or so. It had rained more, but it had also cooled off the harsh August temperatures as well. The regulars asked how she was every day. He told them that with her getting so big lately that she was more comfortable staying at home, but that was only part of it. Ever since she had moved in she seemed to take her role as woman of the house very seriously. He knew that she didn't have very much to do at the institute right now. That was not surprising to him. It seemed that her belly was expanding visibly almost daily and he had felt the kids kicking him through her at night sometimes. Each morning he asked her to go with him to Java Jolts, even if it was just for a little while and so far, each day, she had smiled and told him that she still had some things to do around the house and she would come with there with him another time. Her mom and dad had come to visit a few days ago. She had spent most of those two days with them, but even then she wasn't leaving the house unless she had to. Derek didn't mind though. She seemed to have almost a religious fervor about keeping house for them. He still had some doubts about her taking so much onto herself, but he decided to stick with his choice to let her lead the way in how she wanted to do this. And to tell the truth, he didn't mind that she did what she was doing that much. She was a lot better at it than he was. He put down how she kept house to habits learned in the service and if and when she asked him to do something in that end of things he already had promised himself that he wouldn't be a pain about it. Just because she was doing it most of the time didn't mean she had to do it all of the time as far as he was concerned. He liked cooking with her when they were together as well. It surprised him that he did and he noticed that he was already a much better cook now as well. She was a good teacher. He had noticed that about her when she was walking him through how to fish with that bottom rig she showed him and now when she talked him through what they were doing in the kitchen as well. He didn't know if it was just how she was or if it was fallout from her job, but she was good at it. She kept the focus on what he needed to do to learn and she didn't bog him down with details that, while useful to know, would only confuse him right now. He didn't know who the past girlfriend Jenny was referring to was, but he agreed with her. When it came to housekeeping and things like that, Jenny was a damned good at being a wife. Her parents had offered to cook for them when they came down to visit the last time. Derek had already seen a little of what her mom could do when he was coming to her place on the weekends, but he found it hard not to watch the two of them moving around as they worked through what they were making. The only time they slowed was to ask Jenny where something they needed was. It didn't take him that long to notice that before they had gotten halfway through making dinner, they stopped doing that so much. Jenny had apparently set up their kitchen the same way her parents was organized. About the only thing he really had a problem with when it came to living with Jenny was not anything to do with her or what she did. He really couldn't wait to get home if she wasn't with him. That was something that he noticed about himself that had changed. He had been spending so much time at work since aunt Dina died because he really had no particular reason to be home if he wasn't there. That had changed for good now. Jenny wasn't the first woman that he had lived with, but she was the one that he didn't want to live without. He had noticed that she had gone out of her way to change only what she had to when she moved in. The only place she had made over in her own image was the kitchen and since she knew better what to do there that was not anything he was going to worry about. With Jenny what was wrong wasn't a what, it was a who. Her friendship with Madeline was the only wart that he could see on their relationship. He really shouldn't feel that way. She probably wouldn't have even met her if Trisha hadn't been attacked. Jenny told him that Brother Paul had brought her over while he was up in Asheville and she had been the one mostly keeping her company while he was away. Derek still didn't know what had possessed him to ask Brother Paul to do that, but he had. Trisha being attacked had probably rattled him more than he knew for him to do that. Madeline was part of the fallout from that decision that he was responsible for. And once the door was open, it was pretty hard to keep her from coming back in again and again. Maybe he was being too hard on Madeline he sometimes thought to himself. She seemed to be genuinely interested in Jenny and so far she was not trying to push the church on her. That would eventually come and he hoped that when it did, he would keep a civil tongue when he refused her. He still didn't trust them to behave for long and he figured it was only a matter of time before they would show Jenny just who they really were. When Derek pulled under the car port, he could see a dark sedan already parked there. Madeline usually drove that kind of car, but today Brother Paul was with her as well. They left soon after Derek got there. That was another thing that Derek had noticed. Brother Paul had started coming by Java Jolts less now, but having him coming to his house instead wasn't any improvement in his opinion. After they were gone Jenny walked over to him and leaned sideways against him. Her belly was passing over in front of him like crossing a tee. She had started doing that the last week or so as well. That was a change he liked at least. He leaned down and kissed her. She asked him if it was all right if they had company next Friday for dinner. For a moment he thought that she had asked Madeline and Brother Paul, but instead she told him that she wanted to have Dr. Min over. Derek felt more than a little relief at that. He had only met Dr. Min a few times, but from what Jenny had told him about her, he did feel that he knew a lot about her. He told her that he was fine with the idea. She kissed him again and told him that was good and started walking to the kitchen. When he asked her what she had in mind for Dr. Min, she half turned in the doorway and told him that she was going to use the opportunity to teach him how to make dumplings. He told her that he would definitely screw that up and she laughed and told him he had no idea how true that was. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Brother Paul drove quietly. He liked the silence when he was driving. He rarely used the radio or disk player while on the road. When he had conversations they were usually short and to the point and over quickly. He glanced over at Madeline. She was sitting silently with her hands folded on her lap. It was a great improvement, he thought. The former Brother James had constantly felt the need to speak. He had spoken so much that there were times during council meetings that Brother Paul was strongly inclined to smite him in a burst of rage at his constant need to fill the air with inane chatter. He turned his eyes back to the road. The Lord had certainly been correct to place Brother James in the body of Brother Paul's wife. If there were any in the former governing body that were intended to be women it had been Brother James. He ran his mouth like a gossipy hen before and it was only fitting that she was one now. Although he had made certain that he cured her of that vice right away. She had nearly sinned by wanting to dissolve their marriage bond, but after she was one of the first ones selected to receive the Water of Truth that had no longer been an issue. Before Brother Luke brought that miracle to his attention, while Brother Paul was struggling with the ruling that the Church had made concerning those touched by the rapture. He didn't see how he could keep her as a wife now that that blabbermouth was inside of her. But the Water of Truth had changed that. And with the time she had spent under the tutelage of Sister Mary there was no one who could tell that his obedient wife had been anything other than the woman she now was. And with her knowledge that she carried from when she was Brother James, she made an invaluable assistant to him as well. He was looking forward to his next meeting with Brother John later tonight. In his opinion, the little test he had been conducting on Derek's little mud woman was showing greater and greater promise each time they visited. He could already see the change in her behavior. And even though it was not the rapid pace that full immersion had accustomed him to, there was potential to it. Most importantly that it appeared to come completely from within. Based on what he had seen so far he intended to recommend that they use this method for high value converts. They were still too weak as an organization and they didn't need the exposure that would come from having valuable converts return from the Lord's salvation camps as the righteous believers they learned to be there. The servants of the Devil would notice this and stir up those who would act as their unwitting pawns against their own salvation. This slow method would pass undetected by the Devil's minions and their dupes. He was pretty sure that Brother John would agree with him. But while he would be encouraged by this development he would also probably want to see a full run as well before putting it into large scale use. Brother Paul didn't blame him for having that degree of caution. The Lord said to be cautious as serpents and that was what they would have to do for now. There had almost been a premature revealing of them when they first used the camps to restore order to their own ranks after the Rapture. The Lord's hand was guiding them though. As they had used his gift to restore their people to faithful and proper service they had realized that it was not just for this purpose they had been given the Water of Truth. It was for the purpose of completing the work the Rapture had begun. As he continued driving Brother Paul turned his thoughts back to Derek and his mud woman. Once she and Derek were safely in the camps to undergo their final conditioning he was sure that Brother John would want to move ahead with widespread use. In the meantime there would be plans to lay and preparations to make for when that day came. As he turned down the road he wondered if he should include the mud woman in the new Gospel of Paul he was being inspired to write. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wish Shift Prologue

Wish Shift Prologue Year 1 A.S. Day 16 The office had very little decoration. A couple of framed prints on the walls of mountains that could be from anywhere in the western U.S. but existed only in the printmaker's imagination. There were no family pictures on the desk's surface so the young Chinese woman who was presently sitting in one of the two chairs facing the desk knew that this was no one's actual office. It was just an interrogation room. Small, windowless and furnished...

Wish Shift: Chapter Four Home, Sweet Home Year 1 A.S. Day 41 Jenny shifted a little on the new fabric. She was still not used to the truck's new seats. One of the guys that dad used to work with at her shop had started his own place after he left and they threw each other work from time to time. The smell of the new upholstery flavored the interior of the cab now, giving it a whiff of new car...

The winding curves of Mulholland Drive make the perfect foil for my Jaguar XJ. From Topanga Canyon to the Cahuenga Pass, its scenic lanes curve through the iconic terrain of the Santa Monica Mountains. Choked with traffic, it’s a frustrating trap in the daily commute but, during a few precious weekend hours, it’s a pure joy to drive.I felt the tires gripping the asphalt as I wove my way through the sharp turns on the Eastern side. I was approaching Hollywood at a white-knuckle pace when the...

ConvergenceChapter 29 Chrysalis

Caleb agreed to let the ground crew tow his Star Hawk to the launch rails. He could have flown to the launch platform, but was over-ruled by air traffic control, and security. Despite the danger to the world, apparently displaying anti-gravity drives to the world was a bad idea. It frustrated him because he could have saved twenty minutes by flying. An interruption while angrily explaining that fact to Al left him momentarily stunned in surprise. A thought appeared in Caleb’s and Al’s minds...

From Chrysalis to ButterflyChapter 2

Marion lay back in the clinic chair, her head supported by the back-rest with a band around her head keeping her hair out of the way. Sylvie had cleansed Marion's face with an astringent lotion and was gently massaging moisturiser into her skin. "You have really good bone structure." She told Marion who smiled. "Thank you. I have to thank my mother for that." "You're lucky. My mother died when I was two years old, so I really never knew her." "My mother is still alive," replied...

From Chrysalis to ButterflyChapter 3

Hugo came over shortly after Guy had arrived and took their order. Telling Guy that he had lost him two customers. Guy was perplexed but Sylvie put him in the picture. She had seen the two men leave as soon as Guy sat down. He turned to Marion. "The repairer says he can make the repair, but warned me that it will not last long as the only thing he can do is glue it. Therefore I owe you a pair of shoes." Marion smiled and put her hand on his arm. "Don't worry about it, Guy. A day...

Marion got into her bed at half past midnight surrounded by an aura of good feelings. Marianne had quickly got used to the dress and the unusual but good feeling of freedom her breasts had. Part Four: Her Autumn Tears Like Rain Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Five The Stromium Connection Year 1 A.S. Day 191 Danny and Sam took the drugs that Danny had taken from Amy's bathroom with them to the police as soon as they left the advocate's office. After telling Kira and Dianne what they saw, Danny didn't have much argument from her. She had noticed it a couple of times as well and just thought it was odd that...

Wish Shift Reactions

Wish Shift: Chapter Seven Reactions Year 1 A.S. Day 45 Kira saw Jenny's big black truck pull up outside the restaurant. Bob's Country Kitchen was a small local chain that specialized in quick lunches, but served breakfast and dinner as well. The menu was a regular rotation of specials with a standard menu that didn't vary much. Between the prices and the general quality it had been a successful enterprise for the family that owned it. They had decided that they would meet there...

Wish Shift The Fire That Burns You

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Nine The Fire That Burns You Year 1 A.S. Day 209 Day 254 of Jenny's pregnancy Sleep was constantly avoiding coming to her. Between her now frequent trips to the bathroom, the movement of the twins and the pain from the various parts of her body, it was a wonder that she got any sleep at all. And that was before she even factored in the emotional toll of the last few days. The rage that had been released when the full scope of what had been done to...

Wish Shift Dreamscapes

Wish shift: Dreamscapes 1 A.S. Day? The first thing I noticed was the reek all of the flowers. The smell of them made the air noxious with their scent. It surrounded me and seemed like it was impregnating even my clothes. It was in my hair and lingered like a thick blanket in my nose and mouth. It was sweet and warm. I could feel soft satin covering me entirely except for my hands. My fingers are bare. I wondered where it came from. I didn't own anything in satin. But it's here now,...

Wish Shift The Sun Shines on My Face

Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty Two The Sun Shines on My Face These things are good: ice cream and cake, a ride on a Harley, seeing monkeys in the trees, the rain on my tongue, and the sun shining on my face. These things are a drag: dust in my hair, holes in my shoes, no money in my pocket, and the sun shining on my face. -Rocky Dennis Year 1 A.S. Day 120 Jenny was slowly pulling apart a cinnamon roll. She had bought a package of them with her from home and was taking her...

Wish Shift: Chapter Forty-One A Whisper of Spring Year 1 A.S. Day 212 Day 257 of Jenny's Pregnancy Danny looked over the old photo and handed it back to Jenny. "And you say he mailed this to you?" he asked. "Yes he did," Jenny said. "It came a few days after the mail started running again."The petty bastard actually took the time to send it to me." "So what did you do when you saw it?" Danny asked...

Wish Shift Epilogue

Wish Shift: Chapter Forty-Three Epilogue Year 1 A.S. Three Months later February Jenny held Sonya while Derek was holding Sammy. Both of them were sleeping right now, but she wouldn't put it past either of them to wake up at any moment. Kira and Dianne were standing together in their wedding dresses just to their left. Jenny had never thought that she would ever be a bridesmaid, but she had never thought that she would be a wife or a mother either just over a year ago. She...

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Eight Standing At The Road's Fork Year 1 A.S., Day 193 Afternoon Dr. Warren looked at Agent Matthews in the chair across from him. Jenny had already left with Danny and the two other agents. Derek was sitting outside in the waiting room. Usually he was against involving others in his therapeutic method, especially those who were romantically involved. He disliked relationship counseling, there was always the feeling in one of those kinds of sessions...

"Just take a slow step, you can do it J.L." Jenny was across from him sitting in a chair on the other side of the exercise room that they had set up to work with their charges. She was making come to me motions with her hands and calling for J.L. to reach her. J.L.'s tongue moved in his mouth and he...

Wish Shift The Things That Bind You

Wish Shift: Chapter Twenty Seven The Things That Bind You Year 1 A.S. Day 157 Jenny looked up when Derek opened the front door. She was in the kitchen going over some of what she wanted to do with him during the next week. She put down the pad of paper that she had been writing ideas on down on the counter and walked into the living room to see why he was back so early today. She had been busy over the last few days. In fact she had only really left the house when she had to. As...

Wish Shift When Shadows Burn

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Seven When Shadows Burn Year 1 A.S. Day 192 Day 237 of Jenny's pregnancy Brother Paul kept driving past Derek's home. Derek's jeep was there parked under the carport, but it was the other car there that made him abandon stopping in as an option. He fumed as he drove down the road. Who could that possibly be that was there? And why were they here now of all times? He sensed the hand of the devil in this and considered that he might have to call Brother...

Wish Shift A Woman Named Amy

Wish Shift: Chapter Thirty-Three A Woman Named Amy Year 1 A.S. Day 170 Amy had a busy day. They had left the camp earlier this morning and gotten on the road to go home. The other ladies there had gathered around her before they left, to pray the Lord strengthen her and her husband, as they ventured out into the world of the tribulation. It would not truly be safe for the Lord's people yet, but it had to be done. While she and her sisters in faith prayed, Joshua had gathered with...

Wish Shift: Chapter Eleven Zai Jian Year 1 A.S. Day 58 Night Jenny sat in her room. She had taken all of the clothing that she would not be wearing anymore and piled it on the bed. She reached for the first empty box and started to fold pants and t-shirts and carefully put them away. It was quiet now. Mom and grandma had already gone out the pop-up to go to sleep. Wish Shift: Chapter Nineteen Crossing the Rubicon Year 1 A.S. Day 103 Bob's was a little bit busy this morning for a Thursday. Derek had picked Jenny up at her house at the regular time for her appointment, but they still had more than an hour or so to kill when they walked into the restaurant. Bob waved to Jenny and Derek as they came in the door, but he didn't come over. There were too many people cycling through the place at the moment. Jenny was pretty sure that if he got a...

Jenny quickly dialed Derek and talked to him for a few minutes and then hung up. "Derek can't come," she said obviously disappointed. "He can't get away from the shop today. Wish Shift Pathways

Wish Shift: Chapter Eight Pathways Year 1 A.S. Day 46 Jenny heard the car pull into her lot in the dim glow of light just before dawn. She had been up until almost midnight the night before and had needed to rush to the toilet sometime in the early morning hours to deal with a bout of morning sickness. Those had been coming less frequently this last week and she was starting to hope that she may be close to parting ways with this particular aspect of being a woman soon. Leaning...

He figured he might as well make the bed after he put some clothes on. He really wanted to do something nice for Jenny today, but right now he couldn't think of what it should be. He found himself thinking about what she had told him about Sonya and that brought him back to last night and what she said to...

Jenny had already apologized to them for being angry with how they reacted to her risking herself and the twins, but there were still some dark feelings swimming around them. She was still out of sorts herself as well. She was wearing the last of her inherited bras and in the last couple of days it had been much too tight for...

She glanced across the kitchen at Sam. She was slicing tomatoes and laying them out on the split loaf of Italian bread over the lettuce. Danny reached for an onion and started dicing it. Wish Shift: Chapter Twelve Revelations Year 1 A.S. Day 65 Sam looked around the outside dining area at Java Jolts. "You know I don't usually go to places like this," she said. Wish Shift Reunion

Part One The Winter of her Heart Wish Shift: Chapter One Reunions 1 A.S. Day 32 She was still trying to sleep. It wasn't her first international trip. The problem was, even with all of the shades down on the windows, you could still see the outline of daylight around them. This made it difficult for her to get relaxed even in ordinary circumstances. Her only consolation this trip was that, for once, the seat was roomy enough. But considering what made that extra room...

Wish Shift: Chapter Fifteen Intake Year 1 A.S. Day 86 Brother Paul sat in the comfortable leather chair in his office. He had striven for the impression of a manager's office rather than something more exalted like the head of a corporation. Wish Shift: Chapter Two Deflection Year 1 A.S. Day 32 No one laughed when Kira said that to her. Not that it wasn't just like something she would say and that it wasn't amusing in its own way. Jenny was mostly sure it was because none of them really knew what to say. Like her mom had said to her in the restroom, it was just something that he never expected to hear from her son, even if her son was now her daughter. She supposed that it also brought home to her sister Kira and...
